First-Class Nursing Discipline Construction Spearheads the Cultivation of First-Class Talents

Cultivating first-class talents is a key task of the Double First-Class Initiative, a national plan to build a number of world-class universities and disciplines in China by the end of 2050. On the basis of reviewing the history of the development of the nursing discipline, we analyzed, herein, opportunities and challenges of nursing professional training under the strategic guidance of the Double First-Class Initiative. We proposed suggestions on the cultivation of first-class nursing professionals of the future by considering the following aspects, constructing a theoretical system of ideological and political education for nursing education with Chinese characteristics, exploring for ways to develop a nursing knowledge system and personnel training model around the axis of a life-course approach to health, building "nursing plus" interdisciplinary clusters to cultivate innovative talents with interdisciplinary integrated abilities, enhancing efforts to recruit and cultivate scientific and technological talents, optimizing in an all-round way the composition of qualified nursing personnel, gaining the support of first-class research platforms, and creating incubation centers for innovative and outstanding nursing professionals.

Efficacy of a theoretical and practical programme to newly hired nursing personnel in a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit: A pilot study

Aims(1) to design a training programme for newly hired nursing personnel and (2) to determine self-perception and perceived stress before and after the theoretical and practical parts of the programme with high fidelity simulation activities. MethodsA pilot quasi-experimental pretest-posttest study without control group conducted in a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit from October 2018 to April 2019 was conducted. A newly hired nursing personnel training programme was first designed and delivered. Later, the participants’ self-perception was assessed, as well as their perceived stress and grade of satisfaction using two different Likert scales. ResultsA total of 20 newly hired nurses participated in the study, 90% (n = 18) were female with a median age of 25.5 ± 4.53 years. Higher scores were obtained in participants’ self-perception before and after the theoretical training. Lower significant median scores of the participants’ stress perception were found (6.9 ± 1.57 versus 5.6 ± 1.794). In the practical part of the programme, we obtained higher scores in all items, as well as lower median scores in stress perception (6.4 ± 1.73 versus 5.6 ± 1.93). ConclusionsA theoretical and practical programme for newly hired nursing personnel in a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit improved participants’ self-perception and reduced their perceived median scores in stress levels.

Construction of Health Education Competency Model for Nurses Based on Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method and Fuzzy Cluster Analysis Method

Health education competency is essential for nurses to engage in clinical nursing practice. Nurses with a high level of health education competency have a promising future. However, at the present stage, health education of nurses suffers from insufficient effective communication skills, poor skillfulness, and lack of health education knowledge. The above problems seriously affect the improvement of nurses’ health education level and restrict the development of health education in health industry. Therefore, it is very important to construct a health education competency model on how to improve health education. This paper, by taking nurses as the research object, constructed a health education competency model for nurses using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method and fuzzy cluster analysis method. In this paper, we first applied the fuzzy cluster analysis method to classify the relevant factors affecting nurses’ health education competency. Then, we investigated 10 experts from four tertiary general hospitals in Heilongjiang Province of China and asked them to rate nurses’ health education competency through the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. According to the results of this research, nurses’ knowledge and experience, nurse-patient communication competency, and health education implementation competency are the key factors affecting nurses’ health education competency. But the influence from overall quality is relatively minimal. Among the indicators of knowledge and experience, nurses’ health education knowledge is the most important indicator because it can provide objective basis and expand ideas for the hospital health education management and nursing personnel training.

Visual Analysis of Research Hotspots in Geriatric Nursing Education in China and Abroad.

Background This study aimed to conduct a literature search to determine research hotspots in the field of gerontological care education in China and abroad. A knowledge of the focus of research conducted abroad may assist Chinese educators in determining the shape of gerontological care education in the future. Methods The “Web of Science Core Collection” and “CNKI” databases were searched for literature on gerontological care education published from 2010 to 2020. CiteSpace software was used to display the knowledge map of co-occurrence of keywords, and an evolution trend map of research hotspots in recent 10 years was constructed. Results From 2010 to 2020, the focus of foreign gerontological nursing education research was on the training of gerontological nursing personnel; the development of elderly care services; and education and training in dealing with patients with senile delirium and dementia. The focus of gerontological nursing education research in China was primary care education, training of senior elderly nursing personnel, talent training mode reform, training of nursing staff, and career development paths for geriatric nursing staff. Conclusions Foreign geriatric nursing education research focuses on cultivating talents, mental health services for the elderly, innovating the mode of pension, and the care of patients with disorders such as dementia and delirium, while in China, the emphasis remains on gerontological nursing personnel training. Attention to research developments in other countries may assist Chinese educators to promote the development of geriatric nursing education in our country.

Nursing personnel training: a pilot study on attitude change, through a workshop on ethics and humanities

Nursing has emerged as one of the main professions with a humanistic sense specialized in health care. The accent on personal development favored by training in humanities allows for questioning whether a training specifically focused on the workplace abilities enhances personal fulfilment at work. A pilot workshop on Ethics and Humanities at Work was offered in tertiary hospital to assess the influence of ethics and humanities in attitude toward work. Nineteen nurses completed the workshop; attitude towards change and attitude towards teamwork increased significantly. In this pilot study we found that the workshop influenced attitude towards change at work and teamwork. Since an attitude is made up of the cognitive, affective, and behavioral components, the change in one of these has the capacity to modify part of the others.

The Strategy of Geriatric Nursing Personnel Training Based on the Demand of Geriatric Nursing

With the increasingly serious aging trend in China, the incidence of some chronic diseasesrelated to it is also increasing. In this regard, the demands of elderly care gradually show a trend of diversified development, and the requirements of nursing quality become more and more strict. In China, most nursing personnel training is accomplished through colleges and universities, many of which come from the nursing profession. However, there is no division of nursing disciplinesfor elderly patients at present, and the corresponding training plan, content and target for elderly care are not specific. Next, we focus on the implementation strategy of training elderly nursing talents based on the needs of elderly care.

A Four-in-one Teaching Model for Fundamental Nursing Based on UCD Theory

With the change of health concept and medical mode, the nursing personnel in the 21st century will confront day by day expanding work domain, and new opportunities and challenges put forward new requirements for the scale and quality of nursing personnel training. The core problem of nursing education reform is course reform. At present, nursing specialty teaching has such problems as the lack of learning initiative and imperfect course evaluation system which seriously affect the teaching effect. Hence, this study applied UCD theory, summarized the principles of multimedia teaching design based on UCD theory, and applied it in network course design of nursing teaching. The detailed design application method expanded in detail from three aspects: course process, course content and course experience. Meanwhile, four-in-one (blended-flipped-autonomous-collaborative) teaching model was proposed. The teaching model is based on the functional structure relation between course objective and course implementation process, and element analysis model of course quality process. The course quality evaluation index system oriented to objective-process was constructed from six dimensions (including course objective adaptation, teaching resource guarantee, teaching program execution, teaching program suitability, quality assurance effectiveness and course objective attainment) to assess the application effect of four-in-one teaching model in Fundamental Nursing. The results show that the four-in-one teaching model better improves students’ self-management ability, information acquisition ability, learning and cooperation ability, compared with traditional teaching models. Objective-process course quality evaluation index system can quantify evaluation of teaching effect from multiple dimensions and make teachers optimize course design with pertinence.

Analysis of zero cited papers on nursing management published in 12 core nursing periodicals

Objective The statistics of nursing management zero-cited papers published in 12 nursing core journals were analyzed, and the reasons were analyzed to provide reference for further improvement of the academic quality of nursing management class papers and reducing zero cited rate. Methods The nursing management zero-cited papers published in 12 nursing core journals from 2015 to 2017 were searched in Wanfang Database, and the amount of documents issued, funded status, number of authors, academic qualifications and titles, and themes were analyzed. Results There were 2 492 articles of zero cited papers of nursing management during 2015-2017, accounted for 46.65% of the total number of nursing management thesis, among which there were 1 172 papers of zero cited papers and 1 320 papers of non-funds, which showed an increasing trend year by year. The lowest cited rate was 33.67% in the Chinese Journal of Nursing.The zero cited fund of nursing management was the most subsidized by provincial (municipality) level, accounted for 42.83%.The zero cited rates of qualitative research, survey research and application statistical description were the highest, which were 51.44%, 50.87% and 47.03%. More than 70% of the zero cited papers are divided into 4 aspects: nursing human resource management, nursing quality management, nursing management mode and management psychology research. Nursing human resource management was more concerned with the training of nurses, core competencies, job management, job stress, and job satisfaction. The research content of nursing quality management focused on quality control circle, nursing quality assessment, continuous quality improvement, and adverse event management. Conclusions The zero cited rate of nursing management papers is high, suggesting that the training of nursing management personnel's scientific research ability should be strengthened, so that they can grasp the hot spots or focus issues in the field of nursing management to select topics and promote the clinical application of nursing management results. Exploration and implementation on the mode of undergraduate community nursing practice, according to "National Standard of Undergraduate Teaching Quality"

According to 'National Standard of Undergraduate Teaching Quality for Nursing Science', the mode of community nursing practice was explored and implemented by the School of Nursing in Tianjin Medical University. Focus on competency, the syllabus of community nursing practice was revised. Optimizing the management system of community nursing practice, developing the team of high-quality teachers, building standardized community nursing practice bases, and improving the evaluation system of community nursing practice aimed to enhance comprehensive quality of nursing undergraduates and the quality of community nursing practice. Within the concept of big health, our school is exploring the new mode of combining community nursing practice with health management-oriented nursing personnel training, which lays an important foundation for training applied nursing talents to meet the needs on development of community health services. Demands of community nursing service for the aged and exploration of a nursing model

Objective To understand the status of demands of community nursing service for the aged and to explore a new nursing model provided for the aged which suited our county's status of aging society. Methods From November 2017 to January 2018, totals of 292 elderly patients were investigated on nursing demands at the site in Harbin Daoli District Gongle Community Health Centre, Jianguo Community Health Centre and Tongjiang Community Health Centre. Besides, managers of the three community health institutes were interviewed. Descriptive method and logistic regression were used to analyze our country's community nursing service for the aged and demands. Results Some (76.03%) of the 292 elderly patients had urgent needs for community nursing service for the aged with the highest needs for the emergency nursing competency and mental nursing (43.83% and 38.01%) of nurses in community health institutes. Whether to provide door-to-door service by community medical staffs was effected by their ages, whether to obtain the vocational qualification, previous nurse-patient relationship and the number of community permanent residents (P<0.05). For the moment, community home based care for the aged nursing model still had defects, such as the incomplete nursing service system for the aged, deviation between nursing education for the aged and job training system, severely inadequate numbers of nurses for the aged. Conclusions Many of the aged are with demands of community nursing service along with emergency nursing competency and mental nursing being in the majority. Ever-increasing demands of community nursing service for the aged can be satisfied by the model, such as government' support and coordination, purchasing long-term care insurance, improving nursing personnel training thought for the aged in community and expanding the development channel for the nursing human resources for the aged. The experience and enlightenment of the geriatric nursing personnel cultivation in the United States

The rapid development of aging has brought new challenges to the elderly nursing service. Traditional nursing education is difficult to meet the needs of elderly nursing personnel cultivation. The training experience of other countries will provide a reference for the training of elderly nursing talents in China, so as to meet the needs of the society. This paper analyzes the current status of the geriatric nursing personnel cultivation in the United States from three aspects: the elderly nursing education in the United States, the training of the senior practice nurses and the training of the elderly nursing teachers, and according to the national conditions of our country, it is pointed out that the training of elderly nursing personnel should pay attention to curriculum setting to cultivate senior nursing professionals, pay attention to professional qualification certification and train advanced specialist nurses in geriatric nursing, pay attention to evidence-based practice and train characteristic TCM nurses in geriatric nursing, pay attention to teachers' leadership and cultivate high-level talents especially elites in geriatric nursing. An investigation of the emergency preparedness of emergency rescue nurses and the study on the influencing factors in Anhui Province

Objective To analyze the current situation and influencing factors of disaster preparedness of emergency rescue nurses in Anhui Province. Methods Using the convenience sampling method, 261 emergency rescue nurses from 48 tertiary and secondary hospitals drawn from the Disaster Nursing and Practice Classes organized by the Anhui Provincial Nursing Association in November 2017 were selected as research subjects. The questionnaire was conducted by using the Chinese version of Nurses Disaster Preparedness Scale. Results The score of disaster preparedness degree of nurses was 180.00(164.50, 201.00), which level was middle to upper,among the three dimensions, the highest score of disaster knowledge item was 4.50(4.00, 5.50), the second was disaster management 4.20(3.50, 5.00), the lowest disaster technology score was 4.00(3.00, 5.00); the disaster management (H= 7.968-40.324, P<0.01 or 0.05), the qualification level of rescue nurses (H= 13.341-61.550, P <0.01), grade of hospital (Z=-3.927-1.202, P <0.01 or 0.05), disaster education score (H= 19.517-65.061, P < 0.01), and participation in disaster rescue (Z=-8.219-- 6.280, P <0.01) were the influencing factors of disaster preparedness for emergency rescue nurses. Conclusions The disaster preparedness level of emergency rescue nurses in Anhui Province is at the upper middle level, disaster nursing should be included in the regular emergency rescue nurses′ continuing education programs to carry out special lectures and regular emergency drills to establish a team of emergency nursing personnel training emergency rescue nurses for training at the same time, disaster relief incidents collect and analyze so that the combat experience at the disaster rescue site can be shared and promoted. Qualitative research on demand for nursing personnel with customized mode in different levels of hospitals in Xinjiang

Objective To explore the cognition and demand status of oriented nursing talents in different hospitals in Xinjiang, so as to provide a scientific basis for establishing the model in Xinjiang. Methods Using qualitative research methods and purposive sampling, 12 nursing directors from different grades of hospitals in North and South Xinjiang were selected and semi structured in-depth interviews were conducted from September 2016 to October 2016. Colaizzi phenomenological seven step analysis method was used to analyze the data and get the theme. Results Through analysis, the three themes of different types of hospitals in Xinjiang were put forward: there are different levels of hospitals in to model the demand of nursing personnel training; different levels of hospital nursing students' needs of different orders; the hospital expects to establish type talent training hospital-school cooperation steering committee. Conclusions Xinjiang area hospitals of different levels to construct the pattern of the urgent need for the order of nursing personnel training, to meet the needs of nursing professionals of different levels of hospitals, so as to improve the overall level of nursing staff, to provide quality health services along the Silk Road and the surrounding countries. Application of project management theory in spinal orthopedic nursing personnel training

Objective To explore the application of project management theory in spinal orthopedic nursing personnel training. Methods Project management team was established in Orthopedic Department of West China Hospital based on project management theory in January 2016. Psychology and sleep, nutrition, rehabilitation and other 10 project management teams in total were constructed after strict nursing team training, and nursing personnel training was carried out. Using convenience sampling method, 50 nursing staff working in spinal orthopedic department from April to December 2015 were recruited in control group, and 50 nursing staff working from April to December 2016 were recruited in experimental group. On the basis of traditional training mode which was applied in control group, experimental group focused on the project sub-specialty, and then consciously carried out the personnel training work. Compare evaluation of nurses before and after the project management. At the same time, a convenience sampling method was adopted to investigate the satisfaction of 100 discharging patients. Results The understanding of project definition, nursing capacity, nursing work efficiency, patients and their families′ respect for nursing work, nursing research capacity and teamwork ability of experimental group were significantly lower than the control group (P< 0.05) . Patient satisfaction improved after carrying out the project management, and the difference was statistical significant (P=0.013) . Conclusions The project management theory provides a theoretical basis for nursing personnel training, which has important guiding significance for the training of clinical nursing personnel. 高职院校老年护理专业人才培养现状分析

为了解我国老年护理专业人才培养现状，本文通过查阅资料、文献检索，从我国专业养老护理人才现状、国内外老年护理专业人才培养模式现状等方面分析，基于养老产业人才短缺、流失率高的现实以及人才培养存在的问题，指出“现代学徒制”育人模式在老年护理人才培养方面是值得借鉴的。 In order to understand the current situation of personnel training in Elderly Nursing Specialty, this paper analyzes the status quo of professional nursing care talents in China and the current situation of domestic and international Elderly Nursing Specialty through access to information and literature retrieval. On the basis of the shortage of industry talent, and the reality of high turnover problems of personnel training, this paper points out that the “modern apprenticeship” mode of education in the elderly nursing personnel training is worth learning.

Exploration on information-based teaching mode in the course of adult nursing under the vision of "Excellence Nursing Program"

Adult nursing course is the nursing professional core courses. The traditional spoon-feed teaching mode which lack of practice opportunities, can′t meet the social demand for excellence of the nursing personnel training. The teacher makes a combination of theory-practice-clinical consistent training mode and offline to online interactive learning mode, relying on high simulation training classrooms, teaching resources storehouse platform and mobile terminal real-time communication platform to construct the integrated teaching model of theory and practice. The course is based on clinical true cases, put the task drive and problem solving as the main line, pay attention to preview before the class, class learning, practice training and extension after class and other important time nodes. Students explored and practiced in three-dimensional learning environment to make up for the shortcomings of traditional teaching mode, and achieved good teaching results. Analysis of citations of literatures of nursing staff from quotations of five nursing periodicals from year 2010 to 2012

Objective To investigate the habits that literatures using by nursing staffs during 2010 to 2012 in China. Methods The publication from Chinese of , Research , Chinese of Practical , Journal of Nurses Training and Journal of Nursing Science from year of 2010 to 2012 were statistically analyzed using literature metrology method. The statistics results were compared with data from 2007 to 2009. Results In past 3 years, the quantity, quantity of papers with citations, average number of citations, citations of theses with citations published in-mentioned above five periodicals increased year by year.In 2010 to 2012, the average number of citations and citations rate of papers also improved compared with 2007 to 2009. The type citation is mainly from Journals, and the language was mainly in Chinese. Conclusions In the past 3 years, the nursing staff's literature utilization was improved. However, in the situation of using references with foreign language, nursing staff was poor comparing with medical personnel. On the scientific research ability of nursing personnel training should be strengthened, and the application of new technology and new theory in domestic and international should be strengthened as well. . Challenges and countermeasures of advanced nursing education under the perspective based on health needs in China

The purpose of this paper is to explore the ageing of population, changes in disease spectrum, the need for development of nursing profession, the reforms of medical and health system, especially the challenges of increasingly diverse health needs on professional competence in nurses. And then, we will analyze the existent problems of nursing education in China from different proportions of nursing personnel training, education concept and model, course offered, clinical practice teaching and teaching staff, so as to put forward the targeted measures.
