Application of“high quality nursing service demonstration project”in nursing management

Objective To explore the application effect of “high quality nursing service demonstration project” in nursing management .Methods This study was a non-experimental design using data analysis method.The total of 262 clinical nurses and 10 000 patients with their permission were included in this research.The Nurses Job Satisfaction Scale （NJSS）, Chinese Nurse Job Stressors Questionnaire （CNJSQ）, and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale （ SAS ） were collected from the nurses whereas Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire （ PSQ） was collected from the patients at pre and post of the administration of the “high quality nursing service demonstration project”.Results After carried out the “Quality care demonstration project”, the patient satisfaction increased from 84.2%to 95.6%.There was significant difference （χ2 =2.14,P〈0.05）.Positive evaluation was above 90%.Nurse job satisfaction scores, wages, benefits, rewards approach, the relationship between colleagues, work nature, desire to communicate were significantly improved （t =2.99,2.18,3.24, 2.44,2.41,2.25, respectively;P〈0.05）.Nurse job stress scores, nursing profession and work issues, time allocation and workload issues , working conditions and equipment problems , patient care problems caused by stress were significantly reduced （t=2.65,3.17,1.75,3.36, respectively;P〈0.05）.After the intervention, the mean score of positive assessment of SAS , negative assessment of SAS and the total score were significantly decreased （t=1.15,1.73,1.24, respectively;P〈0.05）.Conclusions Evidence from the study suggests the meaningful effectiveness of the “Quality care demonstration project” and there is a strong need of continuous promotion based on the research outcomes . The weight analysis of high quality nursing care in clinical pathway and satisfaction survey for hospitalized patients

Objective This paper investigated and analyzed medical service of clinical pathway which carries out during five tertiary hospitals from August 2010 to August 2011 in order to understand the weight of high quality nursing care in the clinical pathway and satisfaction for hospitalized patients.Methods 959 hospitalized patients were investigated by way of questionnaire survey,561 in CP wards and 398 in non-CP wards.Some influential data were statistically analyzed using SPSS17.0 statistical software.Results High quality nursing care in clinical pathway possessed a higher proportion of the actual weight.It had positive func-tion for improvement of the satisfaction degree of hospitalized patients.Conclusions It is an impor-tant way for continuous improvement of medical service by carrying out the clinical pathway combined with high quality nursing demonstration project. Advancing stages of group development:

A qualitative study was undertaken on the stages of group development in an on-line group . The group was a nursing ‘community of practice’ taking part in the Gerontological Nursing Demonstration Project. Together the nurses worked to develop and implement best practice across Scotland. Through content analysis of 27 on-line group sessions, the authors identify the group tasks, the character of the group system and member behaviour, the skills of the groupworker, the dynamics of mutual aid occurring in the session and the stages of group development. Findings challenge the dominant paradigm of group development represented by Tucker and Garland, Jones and Kolodny. The group did become more productive and mature, but did not experience a power and control/storming stage of development.

Application of nursing hierarchical management model in modern hospital

[Objective] To investigate the application effects of nursing hierarchical management model in modern hospital.[Methods] By using the “quality nursing demonstration project”activities launched by the hospital as an opportunity,the nursing shift reform in the emergency department was carried out from March 2011,the hierarchical management of group nursing model was implemented.The management effect was observed.[Results] After nursing hierarchical management,nursing knowledge,nursing attitude scores of 14 nurses were higher than before.Assessment indicators of quality of nursing were improved,the sense of competition,service and responsibility of nurses were enhanced.[Conclusions] Nursing hierarchical management model in the modern hospital includes workforce management,responsibilities management and assessmcnt management.It can improve nursing knowledge and attitudes,enhance the sense of competition,service and sense of responsibility of nurses,which should be widely apphed. The application of nursing model with grouping responsibility system in the psychiatric wards

Objective To explore the implementation effect of nursing model with grouping responsibility system in the psychiatric wards.Methods Patients in male and female pilot wards of quality nursing care demonstration project were practised nursing model with grouping responsibility system.Before and after one year's practice,120 patients (by halves as sex) were randomly sampled to compare nursing satisfaction.After practice,doctors and nurses were investigated to measure satisfaction about implementation of grouping responsibility system.Results After one year' s practice,the nursing care satisfaction rates of two pilot wards patients showed significantly higher than that before practice( P＜ 0.05 ).The total satisfaction rate was 93.2％ in nurse,and 95.8％ in doctor.Conclusions Grouping responsibility system nursing care services for patients with mental illness can close nurse-patient relationship,enhance patient nursing compliance,promote patients mental recovery,raise nurse nursing level,multiple qualifications,and set up a better image of the hospital. Effect of the high quality nursing service demonstration project on the doctor-patient relationship

Objective To discuss the influence of the high quality nursing service demonstration project on the doctor-patient relationship.Methods Retrospective study was adopt to compare the nursing service,accompanying rate and patient's satisfaction rate before and after taking the high quality care service demonstration project.Results Nursing service had been improved,with accompanying rate falling from 100.0％to 70.0％ ( x2 =1 116.3,P ＜ 0.05),patients' satisfaction rate increasing from 92.0％ to 99.0％ ( x2 =180.3,P ＜ 0.05 ),the doctors' satisfaction rate increasing from 96.0％ to 100.0％ ( x2 =2.8,P ＜ 0.05 ),and nursing quality control deficiency rate decreasing from 25.0％ to 12.0％ ( x2 =5.6,P ＜ 0.05 ).Conclusions The nursing service demonstration project can ameliorate the doctor-patient relationship by carrying out humanized service. Problems and countermeasures during the enforcement of high quality nursing service

Objective To investigate the problems and countermeasures during the course of start-up and sustainability of demonstration project on high quality nursing service in neurosurgery department.Methods The actions we took to deal with these problems were:to let the head nurse play the most important role to convert the perspective of all employees,to change the working mode based on effective management and to consummate training measures to improve the competency of nurses.Results After the conduct of the project,patient satisfaction with nursing service was higher than before and the nurses made fewer mistakes at service as well.Conclusions The enforcement of high quality nursing service demonstration project may improve the nursing service,standardize nursing acts and increase nursing quality and patient satisfaction. Effectiveness evaluation of “Quality Nursing Demonstration Project” applied in cardiothoracic surgery

Objective To evaluated the effect of “Quality nursing demonstration project”.Methods The “Quality nursing demonstration project” was started as following: optimizing the scheduling mode of nurses, carrying out system of ward bed accountability, establishing system of working and real-time records beside ward bed, and developing “warm ward” and implementation of nursing care.Quality of care before and after the project were compared using questionnaire survey of patients satisfaction on nursing service to judge results of the project. Results Qualified rates of various nursing care were significantly improved (P＜0.05) after implementation of the projcet. Meanwhile, patients' satisfaction rate on nursing service also improved significantly (P＜0.05). Conclusion The implementation of “quality care demonstration project” contributs to a better nursing care results and it should be widely applied. Effect of show classroom training in ”the high quality nursing demonstration project”

Objective To explore the application of show classroom training in “the high quality nursing demonstration project”. Methods 8 demonstration wards were collected and divided into experimental group and the control group, the experimental group was treated with showing the classroom to carry on centralism training, the control group was trained by various branches head nurses. Results In experimental group, the foundation nurse service standard operation inspection results in 4 month was (90.41 ± 2.128) ; in 6 month(91.00 ±2.368) ; the foundation nursing quality testing qualified rate of Q3 2010 was 98％ ,Q4 99％ ;In control group respectively were(86.96 ±2.591) ,(86.25 ±4. 508), 88％, 89％ ,there were significant difference (t = 9.927 ,9. 001; x2 =7.68,8.87;P ＜0.05);the patient degree of satisfaction in two groups has significant difference(P ＜ 0.05). Conclusions Applying show classroom training to “ the high quality nursing demonstration project” could improve the foundation nursing quality and the patient degree of satisfaction. Predicting the cost of acute-care nursing: a nursing workload demonstration project

Nursing workload data has not been used consistently for its original purpose: predicting staffing requirements and making staffing decisions. Too often, little time was paid to monitoring a workload measurement system to ensure that it accurately reflected the practice environment. Several studies have shown that workload measurement systems may not indicate true workload. In 2006, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) completed a study on the collection of nursing workload data. The study evaluated the quality and value of the data, and the cost-benefit of collecting the data. Results of the study led to the MOHLTC's recommending that the collection of nursing workload data be mandatory only for case-costing hospitals. The reason was that, at the time, there was no alternative in place to predict the cost of nursing. The present nursing demonstration study, commissioned by the Nursing Secretariat of Ontario, Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, will explore the factors that affect nursing resources. It will also investigate the feasibility of a model to predict the use of nursing resources.

An Early Intervention Program for Adolescent Mothers: A Nursing Demonstration Project

To improve health outcomes in a vulnerable population of adolescent mothers and their infants. Effects of an intensive early intervention program (EIP) are compared with those of traditional public health nursing (TPHN) care. A large California county with urban and rural communities, an ethnically diverse population, and a high teen birth rate. One hundred twenty-one young mothers and their children from impoverished and predominantly minority backgrounds. During pregnancy and through 1 year postpartum, participants (n=63) in the EIP were provided with 4 prenatal classes and approximately 17 home visits by specially trained public health nurses. Interventions addressed health issues, sexuality and family planning, life skills, the maternal role, and social support systems. Participants in TPHN (n=58) received three home visits (for intake, prenatal care, and postpartum/well-baby care information). Antepartum, intrapartum, and newborn medical records; maternal responses to written questionnaires; and nurse interviews. Early program outcomes indicate reduced premature birth rates for both groups compared with national data on adolescent mothers, and fewer days of infant hospitalization during the first 6 weeks postpartum for the EIP participants. Public health nurse care (both traditional and intensive) significantly improved perinatal outcomes; the intensive intervention significantly reduced the number of infant hospitalization days.

The cost-effectiveness of a nursing demonstration project, part II

The Milieu Enhancement Project was funded for 3 years by the Division of Nursing, Department of Health and Human Services. The goals, setting, project personnel, roles, and implementation activities are described. This project allowed faculty and graduate students to practice independently in a children's residential setting. A needs assessment identified problems related to organizational, academic, and sex- and health-related concerns. These concerns were addressed and outcome measurements identified. A cost-effectiveness framework was used to describe the interventions in terms of improvement. Statistical analyses supported the effectiveness of several project activities.

The cost-benefits of a nursing demonstration project, part III

The Milieu Enhancement Nursing project was funded for 3 years by the Division of Nursing, Department of Health and Human Services. One of the project goals was to perform a cost/benefit analysis of project activities. The conceptual framework and formulas used for data analysis are presented. The project was deemed successful, as data supported a favorable cost to benefit ratio.
