A Comparative Study to Assess the Knowledge Regarding Partograph among GNM 3rd Year Students and B.Sc. Nursing 4th Year Students in Selected Nursing Colleges, Haridwar

A comparative study to assess the knowledge regarding partograph among GNM 3rd year students and B.Sc. nursing 4th year students in selected nursing colleges, Haridwar, towards the partial fulfillment of the requirement degree of masters in nursing, at Shri Swami Bhumanand College Of Nursing, Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical University, Dehradun, during the year 2019-2021. Under the objectives of the study to assess the knowledge regarding partograph among GNM 3rd year students and B.Sc. nursing 4th year students in selected nursing colleges, Haridwar. Non-experimental descriptive research was conducted to assess the knowledge regarding partograph among GNM 3rd year students and B.Sc. nursing 4th year students in selected nursing colleges, Haridwar. The target number of people for study was student of nursing college from among GNM 3rd year students and B.Sc. nursing 4th students in in Shri Swami Bhumanand College of Nursing, Haridwar. The sample size of the study was 60 and for gathering the data questionnaire was prepared and the sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistic to computed information, master data sheets were prepared. Result of the study shows that B.Sc. nursing 4th year students have good knowledge as compared to GNM 3rd year students as their mean score of B.Sc. nursing 4th year students is 16.7 which is higher from the mean score of GNM 3rd year and all demographic variable is associated between B.Sc. nursing 4th year and of GNM 3rd year students.It is concluded that there is significant difference between knowledge regarding partograph among GNM 3rd year students and B.Sc. 4th year students.

Team-based learning: Implementation and evaluation of nursing students’ experience and satisfaction

Team-based learning is an alternative to passive learning. Its defining characteristics are small-group collaboration and active student participation. This study evaluated students' accountability, performance, and satisfaction with the team-based learning strategy, as well as the impact of gender and cumulative grade point average. It was a quasi-experimental one-group post-test study conducted at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Jazan University, Saudi Arabia. A team-based learning session with 214 students was conducted. Descriptive statistics, chi-square, and multilevel regression were used to analyze students' accountability, preference, and satisfaction with team-based learning using an online survey. Students were accountable; 85% used pre-class materials to prepare. The majority of students expressed satisfaction with their session engagement. Most believe that team-based learning motivated them to engage and recommend it for nursing courses. Male students' scores on the team readiness assessment test improved by 30.73%. The multilevel regression analysis revealed a substantial gender effect on gain increases (P-value < 0.0001). Students expressed great satisfaction with their team-based learning experience. This study demonstrated that team-based learning improved student involvement, performance, and accountability and recommends its application in the nursing program; however, further research is needed to improve the transferability of results.

A Study to Assess the Perceived Image of Nursing Profession and Influencing Factors among B.sc Nursing Students of Kamrup (Metro), Assam

Student nurses are the future of our nursing profession. If we mold them in a good way and educate them regarding all the aspect of nursing profession it will help to uplift our profession and it will also help the upcoming nurse to adopt a positive attitude regarding their profession. The objectives of the study is to to assess the perceived image of nursing profession among B.Sc Nursing student of Kamrup (Metro) Assam.To identify the influencing factors for enrollment to nursing programme at selected nursing colleges of KAMRUP (Metro), Assam.To find out association between perceived image of B.Sc nursing profession and selected demographic variables.To identify correlation between perceived images of B.Sc nursing students and influencing factors for enrollment in nursing program of KAMRUP (Metro), Assam. The research approach and design adopted for this study was quantitative research approach and descriptive research design. Convenience sampling technique was used to select two nursing colleges from Kamrup (Metro), Assam and to collect data from 80 students from selected nursing colleges of Kamrup (Metro), Assam. The data collection instruments consisted of three sections which were: Part I included questions related to socio demographic Performa, Part II included Self structured 5 point rating scale will be used to assess perceived image related to nursing profession. Part III included Self structured 5 point rating scale to assess the Factors influencing the nursing image as a profession among nursing students. . The data findings shows that majority of the participants 61(76.2%) are belonged to the age group of 22-23 years .Regarding gender that female 61(76.2%) are more enrolling into nursing profession than male 19(23.8%).Regarding Religion majority are from Hindu religion 31(38.8%) and from Muslim religion 27(33.8%) and from Christian religion 22(27.4%).Majority 67(83.8%) of participants reasons for enrolling into nursing profession were desire to serve humanity and 13(16.2%) of participants for were Availability of work. Regarding parents income maximum 49(61.3%) of participants parents source of income were father, 21(26.2%) of participants parents source of income were mother and 10(12.5%) of participants parents source of income were both father and mother. Majority 42(52.6%) of participants monthly income of family were 40000-60000, 33(41.2%) of participants were 20000-40000, and 5(6.2%) of participants monthly income of family were 60000-80000.Maximum 54(67.5%) of participants had no known person who is in nursing profession and 26(32.5%) of participants had known person who is in nursing profession. 11( 13.8%) of participants family members were in nursing profession, 10(12.5%) of participants relatives were in nursing profession and 5(67.2%) of participants friends were in nursing profession. Majority 45(56.2%) of participants were residing in rural area and 35(43.8%) of participants were residing in urban area. The overall perceived image score shows that the 50(62.5%) have positive perceived image regarding nursing profession and 30(37.5%) has uncertain perceived image and there is no negative perceived image of nursing profession among B.Sc nursing 4th year student of selected colleges. The influencing factors score revealed that majority 48(60%) of participants had moderately influencing factors and 32(40%) of participants had greatly influencing factors for enrollment to nursing program among B.Sc Nursing student. The association between perceived image of B.Sc nursing profession among B.Sc Nursing student and selected demographic variables which was tested by using chi-square test. The chi square values showed that age, gender, religion and monthly income of the family were found statistically significant association at p<0.05 level with perceived image of B.Sc nursing profession. The correlation between perceived images of B.Sc nursing students and influencing factors for enrollment in nursing program among B.Sc Nursing student which was tested by using spearman brown correlation with obtained (r=0.854, p=0.001) indicates good positive correlation between perceived images of B.Sc nursing students and influencing factors for enrollment in nursing program among B.Sc Nursing student was found to be statistically significant at p<0.05 level of significance.

SIFT-ing Through Misinformation

Background: The COVID-19 infodemic revealed nurses are not immune from disseminating health misinformation. Furthermore, the 2021 American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials require competency in social media literacy. Nurse educators need to prepare students to identify credible information online for safe and ethical practice. Problem: Vertical reading, a traditional evaluation strategy used in nursing education, is insufficient for identifying online health misinformation. Approach: A librarian and nursing faculty member developed an innovative reflection notebook assignment to teach lateral reading—a professional fact-checking technique—and facilitate critical self-reflection among RN-to-BSN students. Outcomes: Reflection notebook responses demonstrated that students use online information in various ways; online information habits require active, ongoing professional development; and lateral reading can promote a more compassionate approach to patient education. Conclusions: The reflection notebooks equip students with critical knowledge, skills, and attitudes to practice safely and ethically while demonstrating some of the AACN Essentials requirements.

Health advocacy and moral distress among nurses in organ transplant units.

Health advocacy is crucial for both patients and healthcare professionals. However, nurses who recognize the importance of health advocacy may experience heightened moral distress, particularly in complex donation and transplantation cases where patient autonomy, respect, and advocacy are paramount. To identify the factors contributing to moral distress among nurses working in solid organ transplant units at a university hospital in São Paulo, with a focus on health advocacy. This descriptive, cross-sectional study employs both quantitative and qualitative methods. For this, the quantitative phase of the study was conducted utilizing the Moral Distress Scale, while the qualitative phase was executed through focus group discussions. The quantitative phase involved 15 nurses using the Moral Distress Scale. The qualitative phase consisted of a focus group with 5 nurse managers/coordinators from the transplant units. Quantitative data were analyzed using R® software, while qualitative data were analyzed using Bardin's Content Analysis. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing, University of São Paulo. Participation was voluntary and confidentiality was ensured. A significant correlation was found between moral distress and the factors of "disregard for patient autonomy" (p = .0100) and "therapeutic obstinacy" (p = .0492). The primary determinants associated with moral distress in the context of health advocacy were identified as "disregard for patient autonomy" and "therapeutic obstinacy."

Effects of an Interactive Handwashing Lecture on First-Year Thai Nursing Students: A Pretest-Posttest Study

Background: Hand hygiene is essential in healthcare to prevent infections and ensure patient safety. The World Health Organization highlights hand hygiene as a key measure to reduce healthcare-associated infections. However, adherence to hand hygiene protocols is often inadequate, with a low compliance rate. First-year nursing students are at a critical stage in developing foundational practices. Traditional teaching methods have shown limited success in achieving long-term adherence, necessitating the need for more interactive and engaging teaching methods. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effects of an interactive lecture on the handwashing knowledge of first-year nursing students. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design involving 60 first-year Thai nursing students at Boromarajjonani College of Nursing. After four weeks of interactive lectures, participants completed a pretest and posttest to assess changes in hand hygiene knowledge and understanding of WHO Five Moments for Hand Hygiene. The intervention included visual demonstrations, hands-on practice, and real-time feedback. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests to determine the intervention’s effectiveness. Results: The study showed significant improvements in both handwashing knowledge and understanding of WHO Five Moments for Hand Hygiene post-intervention. The mean score for handwashing knowledge increased from 5.41 (SD = 1.06) to 6.62 (SD = 1.10) (t(59) = 7.154, p < 0.001). Similarly, the mean score for understanding WHO Five Moments for Hand Hygiene improved from 4.32 (SD = 0.68) to 4.97 (SD = 0.84) (t(59) = 5.60, p < 0.001). Correct responses to specific handwashing questions also increased significantly. Conclusions: The interactive handwashing lecture intervention significantly improved nursing students’ knowledge and understanding of hand hygiene practices. These findings support the integration of interactive educational strategies in nursing curricula to improve hand hygiene compliance and patient safety. Future research should address study limitations, such as sample size and long-term knowledge retention, to further validate these results.

Perception of University Nursing Students and Faculty Members Regarding Simulated Practices: A Mixed Methods Study.

Clinical simulation has been used as a teaching strategy for students in health programmes, fostering greater preparedness and confidence in performing procedures. This study aimed to analyse the perception of fourth-semester nursing students and teachers regarding the simulated practice methodology implemented in a private university in Cali, Colombia. A robust mixed-methods approach was used, incorporating quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with 41 students and 5 teaching nursing faculty members. Data triangulation was applied to ensure the robustness of the results. Both students and teachers reported a positive perception of simulated practice, which contributes to knowledge acquisition and contextual learning. Students emphasised that simulation improved their prior knowledge and motivated them to explore new topics. Lecturers emphasised the importance of well-trained instructors in simulation environments. However, participants identified challenges affecting performance, including simulation duration, group size, realism, and resource constraints. Students and teachers recommend strategic changes to the curriculum to optimise simulation practices.

Understanding Burn Management For Nursing Students

Background: Managing burn injuries, particularly in mass-burn scenarios, requires immediate first aid and early care, which are critical for improving outcomes. The quality of burn treatment is highly dependent on the knowledge and practical skills of nursing students, particularly those assigned to burn units. Knowledge Gap: Despite the critical nature of burn care, limited research has been conducted on the level of knowledge nursing students possess in this area, especially in regions like Basra, Iraq. Aims: This study aimed to assess the knowledge of burn management among nursing students at Basrah University, identifying gaps and correlations with sociodemographic factors. Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 150 nursing students at Basrah College of Nursing. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire divided into two sections: (1) sociodemographic information, and (2) burn management knowledge, assessed through a standardized 3-point Likert scale. Results: The majority of respondents (78% female, 22% male) were aged 19-28 years. The results revealed that students demonstrated a good level of knowledge regarding burn management. Furthermore, there was a highly significant correlation between the academic stage of the students and their test scores, suggesting that academic progression improves burn management understanding. Novelty: This study provides one of the first comprehensive assessments of burn care knowledge among nursing students in southern Iraq, highlighting the critical role of academic progression in enhancing practical burn care skills. Implications: The study suggests that incorporating practical burn care training into nursing education can significantly improve clinical outcomes in mass-burn scenarios. Bridging the Knowledge Gap on Iron Deficiency Anemia Among Nursing Students

Background: Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a prevalent nutritional disorder characterized by a significant reduction in the body’s iron stores, affecting oxygen transport and leading to various health complications. Specific Background: The understanding of IDA among nursing students is underdeveloped, especially regarding the differences between morning and evening study cohorts. Knowledge Gap: Understanding nursing students' knowledge of IDA is critical for enhancing educational strategies and improving patient care, yet limited studies have assessed this demographic's awareness of the condition and its management. Aims: This study aims to evaluate nursing students' knowledge about IDA and to compare the levels of knowledge between morning and evening students at the College of Nursing, University of Basrah, over a six-month period from November 2023 to March 2024. Results: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted involving 145 students (72 morning and 73 evening) who completed a questionnaire. Results indicated that 40.2% of morning students and 53.4% of evening students suffered from iron deficiency. While 86.1% of morning students had prior knowledge of IDA compared to 67.1% of evening students, the mean knowledge levels were deemed good for both groups, with no significant statistical difference between them. Novelty: This research contributes to the existing literature by highlighting knowledge levels of IDA among nursing students in Iraq, revealing that both morning and evening cohorts possess substantial understanding yet exhibit slight discrepancies. Implications: The findings underscore the necessity for targeted educational interventions to bridge the knowledge gap regarding IDA, ultimately enhancing nursing students' competencies in managing this condition in clinical settings. Knowledge, Attitudes, and Perceptions towards Hand Hygiene Practice Amongst Students at a Nursing College in Lesotho

Background: Hands are critical vectors for microorganisms that cause healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Hand hygiene, being done the right way, at the right time, and being given the right priority in a healthcare setting is an effective strategy to reduce HAIs and associated costs. Different strategies have been put in place to help improve hand hygiene compliance among healthcare workers; amongst them, continuous training is advised at all levels of care. Aim: This study, focusing on nursing students, aimed to describe their knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions towards hand hygiene, highlighting their crucial role in maintaining health and preventing infections. Methods: This study was a quantitative cross-sectional study. One hundred and fourteen questionnaires were distributed; 103 were filled out and returned by willing students at Maluti Adventist College, thus a 90% response rate. Results: 62% (64) demonstrated moderate knowledge, all had positive attitudes, and 61% (63) had a positive perception towards hand hygiene. There was a significant (p-value = 0.012) association between knowledge and training. Conclusions and recommendations: These provide valuable input for enhancing the World Health Organization’s (WHO) hand hygiene multimodal strategy, the SAFE LIFE Clean YOUR HAND campaign, and healthcare workers’ teaching curriculum. All stakeholders should implement strategies that prioritize knowledge dissemination to promote effective hand hygiene practices among healthcare workers worldwide.

Perceived Work-Related Stress and Coping Strategies among Clinical Nurses in University of Osun State Teaching Hospital

Aim: To examine primary stressors, coping strategies, and techniques used by nurses working in the Uniosun Teaching Hospital in Osogbo, Osun State. Methods: Cross-sectional survey. Place and Duration of Study: The University of Osun Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, South-western, Nigeria between November 2022 and January 2023. Methodology: A self-structured questionnaire with contents derived from the Nursing Stress Scale (NSS) was used as the instrument. One hundred and eighty-seven (187) (21 males, 166 females; age ranged 18-60 years) qualified registered nurses were included in this study. Results: Majority of the respondents were 21-30 years old (44.9%), while more than a quarter (26.7%) had worked between 21 and 30 years. Workload was the main cause of stress among the overwhelming majority of respondents, with a response rate of 72.2% and a mean score of 17.35 while 88.8% reported relaxation as their coping mechanism. There was a significant difference between cause of stress and frequency of P = 0.000* while we found no significant difference between the causes of stress and the coping strategies adopted with P = 0.587. Conclusion: The study concludes that nurses' workload due to inadequate staffing is the primary cause of stress, and it recommends recruiting more nurses into the clinical field to help reduce this burden.

“A Study To Develop And Evaluate The Effectiveness Of Module On Cognitive Behavior Therapy In Terms Of Knowledge And Attitude Among Students Of Selected College Of Nursing, New Delhi”

Emotional experiences are ubiquitous in nature and important and perhaps even critical in academic settings, as emotion modulates virtually every aspect of cognition. Tests, examinations, homework, and deadlines are associated with different emotional states that encompass frustration, anxiety, and boredom. This is followed by the emotional-cognitive interactions in the various brain regions that are intimately involved in emotion and memory systems and influence behavior. A pre-experimental study was conducted with an aim to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of Module on cognitive behavior therapy in terms of knowledge and attitude among students of selected College of Nursing, New Delhi. Quantitative approach with one group pre-test post-test was adopted for the study. A module was developed and administered with certain activities and assignment to practice for the students. The module was based on the INC guidelines given for Cognitive Behavior Therapy included concepts, CBT model, development and tracking of automatic thoughts, biofeedback, Socratic questioning, behavior experiments, thought records and action plan components. The data was collected from 52 B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing students of Holy Family College of Nursing using Structured knowledge Questionnaire and structured attitude scale. The data was tabulated and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings shows that mean post-test knowledge score and attitude score 21.2127 and 38.7021 was higher than mean pre-test knowledge score and attitude score 13.8723 and 35.4680. The result also revealed that module on cognitive behavior therapy is effective in enhancing the level of knowledge and attitude among nursing students as the calculated t-value is greater than table value at 2.012 at p<0.05 level of significance

Healthcare students attitudes opinions perceptions and perceived obstacles regarding ChatGPT in Saudi Arabia: a survey‑based cross‑sectional study

With growing technology, it’s easier for students to accomplish their assignments with little or no effort. This study assesses attitudes, opinions, perceptions, and perceived obstacles regarding ChatGPT among healthcare students at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A cross-sectional study among healthcare students was conducted from the beginning of January to April 2024 using social media, platforms through a prevalidated series of questionnaires. This study included students from the College of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). A total of 354 students included in the study. The data was analyzed using a statistical package for social science (SPSS). Among the healthcare students 39.8% (n = 141) of them were between 23 and 24 years old and most of them were male 68.4% (n = 242). The majority of the healthcare students 91.2% (n = 323) were familiar with the term “ChatGPT, while 75.1% (n = 266) of them were comfortable to some extent in using ChatGPT in their academic activity. Although 22% (n = 78) of healthcare students stated they had used ChatGPT in their academics 29.5% of them perceived that ChatGPT is used in information gathering. In addition, 66.7% of them showed positive attitudes towards ChatGPT. While 61.3% of the healthcare students perceived that ChatGPT may increase productivity and 84.7% of them revealed that it has a positive impact on education. The mean perceptions score of ChatGPT was significantly higher among females (22.64 ± 6.36) comparing male students (21.71 ± 4.66) (t = 1.551; p = 0.001). Similarly, the mean perception score of ChatGPT was higher among pharmacy (22.99 ± 5.48) compared to other healthcare students (F = 4.941; p = 0.008). The current findings concluded that most of the healthcare students are familiar with ChatGPT and show positive perceptions, and perceived that ChatGPT may increase productivity and have a positive impact on education. Therefore, we recommend future studies concentrate on enhancing the ethical and successful application of AI tools and ChatGPT in the academic setting is pivotal.

A Descriptive Study To Assess The Knowledge Of Undergraduate Students Regarding The Needle Stick Injury And Its Prevention In Smt. Lakshmi Bai Batra College Of Nursing, New Delhi

Background: A needle stick injury (NSI) is an accidental skin-penetrating stab wound from a hollow-bore needle containing another person’s blood or body fluid. Healthcare workers are at an occupational risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens following needle stick injuries and sharp injuries. Objective: To assess the knowledge of undergraduate students regarding needle stick injuries and its prevention in Smt. Lakshmi Bai Batra College of Nursing. Method and material: The research was conducted from December 22nd, 2022 on 62 students of Smt. Lakshmi Batra College of Nursing, Delhi. A purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample and data was collected through questionnaire for accessing the knowledge regarding needle stick injuries and its prevention. Result: 62 students of Smt. Lakshmi Bai Batra College of Nursing were taken as sample using purposive sampling technique and the finding of the study indicates that knowledge regarding needle stick injury is average among 61 students and poor among 1 student and good among 0 student. Conclusion: The study indicates that poor to average knowledge regarding needle stick injury & its prevention among undergraduate students of Smt. Lakshmi Bai Batra College of Nursing

Bridging the gap: Implementing a pilot radiology-focused curriculum in an acute care Nurse Practitioner program.

Knowledge in diagnostic radiology and performance of point-of-care ultrasound are integral to acute care nurse practitioners (ACNPs) in the inpatient settings, especially true in specialty areas such as interventional radiology and critical care. However, existing ACNP training programs, including at our institution, often lack robust relevant course content. To address this educational gap, we designed and implemented a pilot acute care radiology course, incorporating a flipped classroom approach and hands-on simulation activities led by expert faculty. Our course evaluation revealed high levels of student satisfaction, self-reported confidence, and perceived course effectiveness. The course aligns with key competencies outlined by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, demonstrating its potential to advance ACNP education in radiology content.

Role of Humour in Nursing Pedagogy.

To explore nursing educators' perceptions about using humour as a teaching strategy in the classroom setting. Qualitative study. Place and Duration of the Study:Shifa College of Nursing, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, Islamabad, Pakistan, from September 2021 to January 2022. Twelve educators from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) programme were purposefully selected for their rich and expressive insights. Institutional Review Board approval was obtained, and participants provided informed consent with the option to terminate interviews at any time. Data were collected and analysed simultaneously using content analysis, with rigour maintained per Lincoln and Guba's 1985 trustworthiness framework. The study revealed four key categories from educators' perspectives on using humour as a teaching strategy. First was the humour and learning, with innate vs. acquired competency and teaching phases. Second was the inside track, encompassing revitalisation, critical thinking, eco-friendliness, encouragement culture, self-esteem, and confidence. Third was provocation; with subcategories of language and student diversity. Fourth was the way forward addressed humour applicability and classification. The study explored the importance of humour as a teaching strategy in the classroom, stressing the need to consider context, subject matter, and diverse student needs. It underscores a balanced approach that engages students and fosters inclusivity. The findings are individual differences. Future research should explore the long-term impact and how training can help teachers effectively using humour as a teaching tool. Understanding Psychological Well-being and Resilience among College Nursing Students

Psychological well-being is defined as enhancing positive states and reducing negative states (Ryff, 1989; Ryff & Keyes, 1995). According to Ryff (1989), psychological well-being encompasses an individual's quality of life to other social units. It is characterized by two prominent varieties. The first refers to the extent to which people experience positive emotions and feelings of happiness. Sometimes this aspect of psychological well-being is referred to as subjective well-being (Diener, 2000). This type of psychological well-being is “Hedonic”, which is normally used to refer to the subjective feelings of happiness (Robertson & Cooper, 1999). It comprises two components, an affective component (high positive affect and low negative affect) and a cognitive component (satisfaction with life) (Robertson & Cooper, 1999). It is proposed that an individual experiences happiness when positive affect and satisfaction with life are both high (Carruthers & Hood, 2004).

Nursing Students’ Attitude and Motivation towards Learning English Communication Skills at Nursing College, Lahore

English has become an international language and has been used in the whole world as a primary mode of communication. Unfortunately, English speaking has become a challenge for students and a hurdle in communicating with other nations. Objectives: To assess the motivation and attitude toward English learning among Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students at the Akhtar Saeed Medical College of Nursing. Methods: This current study employed a quantitative design. A questionnaire-based cross-sectional survey was conducted at Akhtar Saeed Medical College of Nursing, Lahore, Pakistan. Data were collected from a sample of sixty-six BS Nursing students out of a population of two hundred, selected using the convenience sampling technique. The research tool used for this study was adopted from Gardner’s Attitude/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB). An analysis of the gathered data was conducted using SPSS statistics IBM 26. Results: The findings showed nursing students as highly motivated. More than 80% of students know its importance in career advancement, Job opportunities, getting a Grade ‘A’, higher education, knowledge advancement, and going abroad. Half of the students showed a positive attitude. Few students showed negative attitudes due to the anxiety of making mistakes while speaking in front of others. Conclusions: It was concluded that after analyzing the results It is clear that although students are driven to study English, they are afraid to speak in front of others. Because of the small sample size, more studies on a larger sample and in other Pakistani educational institutions should be done in the future.

Attitudes Towards Learning Communication Skills Among University Nursing Students

A major skill of nurses for achieving high-quality care is their ability to communicate effectively with patients, and this has been considered very valuable in the patient healing process. Objectives: To assess the learning attitudes of university nursing students towards communication skills and to find out the association of demographic characteristics of students with their attitude level. Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study design was conducted on 230 student nurses studying in a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Permissions were obtained from the Ethical Review Committee and the Head of the Department for data collection. Data were collected via non-probability purposive sampling. Communication Skills Attitudes Scale was used to assess the attitude of university nursing students. Student's t-test and One-way analysis of variation were used to identify the differences in Positive Attitude Scores and Negative Attitude Scores between demographic variables. Results: Most of the study participants (77.4%) were male and 94% belonged to the age group 18-25 years. There was a significant difference in the Positive Attitude Score between gender and education of the students with p-values of 0.009 and 0.015 respectively. Furthermore, education level is the only variable that shows a significant association with a Negative Attitude Score with a p-value<0.0001. Conclusions: It was concluded that female students had more positive attitudes compared to their counterparts. Third-year students had a more positive attitude compared to other study years.
