New equal-valued earthed-capacitor notch network using d.v.c.c.s./d.v.c.v.s.

Using the differential voltage-controlled current/differential voltage-controlled voltage source (d.v.c.c.s./d.v.c.v.s.) as the active element, a new active RC notch network is described. The network has two equal-valued earthed capacitors and the pole Q can be adjusted by single resistive control independent of the realisability condition.

Further clarification of notch-response selectivity definitions

The validity of various measures of rejectivity in representing the performance of dual-input RC notch networks is investigated. Apparent conformity of an inverse-response definition with fundamental criteria is seen to lead to erroneous conclusions regarding notch characteristics.

An accurate rational 2‐port model of a class of tapered lossless and RC lines

AbstractA rational 2‐port model of a class of tapered LCand RClines which includes the exponential, hyperbolic, trigonometric and square, or Bessel, lines is presented. The model for the exponential RCline (ERC), considered as an example, accurately describes the actual frequency and transient response for various values of taper factor over wide ranges of frequency and time. In an ERC notch network configuration, application of this model predicts the results very closely for various values of taper factor.

A parallel-T based RC active notch filter

A new single amplifier (infinite gain) symmetrical notch network is described where the pole positions are defined by the transmission zeroes of an RC parallel-T circuit. It is shown that the structure described has an independently adjustable notch depth and is relatively insensitive to amplifier gain variations.

A rational two-port model of the uniformly distributed RC structure

A rational second-order two-port model of the uniformly distributed RC structure ( \overline{URC} ) is presented which approximates the actual characteristics very closely over a wide frequency range. The model has been applied to predict the behavior of a \overline{URC} notch network and the results are found to be in close agreement with the exact ones.

A method of realizing parallel-T notch networks with adjustable notch depth, using dual-inputs, is described. A triple-input network, using this method, which has independent control of notch frequency and notch depth is also described.

This paper presents results of further work on MOS distributed RC networks. The theory has been extended by taking the substrate resistance into account, and this has resulted in good agreement with experiment.

The values of the parameters of some multilayer distributed RC null networks

In this correspondence, the values of the parameters of some multilayer distributed RC notch networks are determined, and the usually accepted values are shown to be in error. The magnitude of the error is illustrated by graphs of the frequency response of the networks.

Tapered and inverted Wein networks: Source impedance compensation

The bandpass Wein network and the inverse Wein notch network are considered in their general tapered form. It is proved that for these networks the effect of the internal impedance of the driving source can be exactly compensated for in a simple manner. This property becomes very useful in situations where this compensation is desired or mandatory as in precision decade oscillators and phase shifters.

The Design of Digital Notch Networks ror Use in Servomechanisms

The paper considers the design of narrow-band notch networks with low center frequencies for application in servomechanisms. The S-plane transfer function of a notch network is expressed in a form that allows the notch to be specified from measured data. The bilinear and matched Z transformation methods are used to derive a digital transfer function and it is shown that reliable results can be achieved by either method. The effects of the choice of sampling frequency are discussed along with frequency folding. A guide to sampling time selection is given.

The Design and Application of Digital Filters

The advantages of digital circuits and the frequency-response design procedures that are available for specifying the coefficients of the digital-filter transfer function are discussed. The hardware design of a digital filter is discussed, and an example is given of the application of the filter in a servo loop. Further application of the filter to generate a notch network characteristic is illustrated.

Design and application of active compensation circuits for servo control systems

The paper utilizes the phase variable form of the state equation describing a given linear network. The networks that are considered are those most commonly used, namely, phase advance/phase retard and notch networks, to stabilize a servo system. Practical results are given which illustrate the simplicity of tuning the characteristics and which demonstrate that implementation of these filters is a significant improvement in the 'state of the art'.

Lumped approximation to distributed RC notch networks for linear integrated circuits

Handling of the transcedental equations arising in distributed networks is rather cumbersome. Therefore, in this paper, a lumped approximation to the RC network has been examined. Generalized expressions have been derived for the open circuit voltage transfer function valid for n-lumped sections. This is a rational polynomial and as such easier to handle for analytical purposes. Application has been made to the cases of n = 2 to seven sections and the results obtained have been compared with the ones from exact analysis of the RC notch network. Root-locus graphs have also been derived and plotted for three and seven sections.

A procedure has been developed for the distributed RC notch network, which permits efficient tuning (minimal interaction between notch depth and notch frequency when the latter is varied). Results are presented in normalized form for generality and lead to an efficient technique for designing tunable, frequency-selective, distributed RC networks.

State-variable realization of voltage-controlled active notch filters

The state-variable technique is a powerful tool in the synthesis of active circuits. This letter describes the theory and practical schemes for realization of voltage-controlled active notch networks using this technique.
