Evoked responses to auditory stimuli of moderate intensity were seen in all of the normal children. Response forms were influenced by the type of background EEG, the age of the subject, and stimulus parameters. Although variability both in and between subjects was considerable, the agreement between scores was good as to whether a response was present, doubtful, or absent. Responses at adult hearing threshold were detectable in some but not all recordings from presumed normal hearing infants under the conditions of testing used.
