Aluminum nitride powder is dispersed non-aqueous slurry systems and casted on plaster molds. The compacts are de-binded in vacuum at 823 K, then sintered 28GHz milli-wave sintering furnace at 2023 to 2148K for 60mim. Sintered compacts reach almost full density, but there are several defects in appearances (cracks) and microstructures (white layer parallel to casting direction, and convection mark). Cracks and convection mark may be introduced by unstable heating of the furnace and temperature gradient in the specimen during heating.
