Amendment Passes Marilyn Apseloff The ChLA constitutional amendment to rescind the voting right of the representative from the journal passed, with 118 for, 10 against, and 3 abstentions. To save the costs of printing and mailing, we are asking members to change Article V, Section 1 to read as follows: "The Executive Board shall consist of thirteen members: the President; the Vice President/ President Elect; the Secretary; the Treasurer; and nine directors. If there is an Executive Secretary, he/she shall be an ex officio, non-voting member of the Executive Board and of all Association Committees." Children's Literature is a fine publication, certainly the most prestigious in the field, and we look forward to a long association with it. Although there have been some problems in the past in maintaining a consistent timetable for publication because of changes in publishers, now that Yale is in charge we foresee members receiving their journals at regular annual intervals. Our relationship with Yale is excellent, and Francelia Butler has stated often that she wants to have close ties to the Association; in fact, she opposed the amendment because she was afraid that the ties would weaken. I have no such fears, for I believe that the membership is well pleased with the journal and that the Association gains credibility by having a Yale journal as part of the membership. Since board meetings are open to anyone interested in attending, we welcome a representative from Children's Literature in particular and any other members who might wish to observe and/or comment.
