Reply: We thank Dr. Pablo Rojo for identifying the error in our clinical case describing an adolescent with fever, cough, and diffuse lymphadenopathy who was diagnosed with human immunodeficiency virus infection (HIV) and superimposed bacterial pneumonia.1 We incorrectly reported that the antiretroviral-naive adolescent was commenced on a triple-class, salvage antiretroviral regimen, when in fact, his treatment consisted of efavirenz, emtricitabine, and tenofovir. This initial therapy of 1 non-nucleoside reverse transcription inhibitor combined with a 2-drug nucleoside reverse transcription inhibitor backbone agrees with the American Pediatric Guidelines2 and the European Pediatric Guidelines3 for initial therapy for HIV-infected children.
