Parameters from photographic spectra. Stoeckley, T. R. ; Morris, C. S. Abstract A differential corrections procedure is described for deriving the half-width, shape, central depth, and equivalent width (as well as their estimated uncertainties) of rotationally broadened absorption-line profiles from high-dispersion photographic spectra. A method is described for combining several profiles into a single, improved profile which can be reanalyzed. The capabilities of the procedure are illustrated with exhaustive tests on actual profiles and on synthetically generated noisy profiles. We find that this procedure allows the line shape of a photographically recorded profile to be measured to an accuracy which is sufficient for later analysis of the rotational distortion of the star and estimates of its axial inclination and differential rotation.
