A new “Direct Non-Aqueous” method was developed to prepare Co-doped Ni-Zn spinel ferrite nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery, hyperthermia, magnetic resonance imaging and electromagnetic interference shielding applications. A “Non-Aqueous” method was developed in order to prepare spinel ferrite nanoparticles in a short duration and at low reaction temperature, without using any complexing agent and there was no requirement of pH adjustment. Moreover, this method is a simple, cost-effective and can form multi-component nanoparticles systems. The nanoparticles prepared by this method encompass single-phase spinel cubic structure, nanometer size range (1−100 nm), highly crystalline and stoichiometric behavior; high saturation magnetization and low coercivity. These properties of nanoparticles show great attention in the practical applications like targeted drug delivery, hyperthermia, magnetic resonance imaging and electromagnetic interference shielding applications. Experimental results were well supported by the theoretical calculations using the proposed cations distributions and were found in good compliance.
