The nanosized-Li4Ti5O12 with excellent high-rate performance and cyclic stability is synthesized using a spontaneous solid–liquid mixing process by introducing low-temperature eutectic mixture of LiOH·H2O and LiNO3. The intimate solid–liquid mixing and the adhesion or infiltration of the following produced Li2O to the surfaces of TiO2 have highly shortened the solid–solid diffusion paths and significantly decreased the high temperature sintering time to 1h. Results show that the as-prepared Li4Ti5O12 particles delivers an excellent capacity of 127.0mAhg−1 at 10C rate with 95.1% capacity retention ratios after 800 cycles.
