Colored Petri Nets Model for Network Based FTI Systems

Network based data acquisition system is a system which allows a data exchange using Ethernet technology. One of the main usage areas of this type of system is Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) applications. There exists some complexity in analysis and synthesis of the entire system. Colored Petri Net (CPN) is a compact modelling method for Discrete Event Systems (DES). A model of a FTI network fabric is considered in this work in order to reduce related complexities. A CPN model for network based FTI system is presented and all states for this model are obtained in this work.

On-line software in the HARP experiment

The HARP experiment has collected data in the CERN-PS East Hall during the years 2000-2003. Here we describe the software and hardware architectures of the on-line system, featuring a network-based data acquisition system with the possibility of on-line recording to an object-oriented database. The adoption of a formal object-oriented design methodology very much helped the creation of a consistent architecture in a small amount of time.

Designing, controlling, and visualizing composite material manufacturing

We have developed a visualization tool for monitoring and displaying resin flow during the fabrication of composite laminates. The tool integrates network-based data acquisition, fast finite element based reconstruction (smoothing) and contouring algorithms, and scientific visualization. It helps users better understand the design process and will be at the center of our intelligent design and control manufacturing system.

PC network based data acquisition system for the MT-1M tokamak

An IBM PC compatible computer network based data acquisition system for the small tokamak MT-1M is described. The network operating system is DECnet-DOS and the computers are connected by a thin wire ethernet cable. The tokamak measurement system is divided into subsystems which enable fast modular reconfiguration of the system. Every subsystem can manage its own data and can access data of the other subsystems as well.
