Comprehensive cost analysis of voice call recording storage with and without NAS and GSM gateway integration via unified communication server

This study is an extension of existing research, which previously demonstrated the effective integration of Network Attached Storage (NAS) with a GSM Gateway into Unified Communication (UC) Platform, thereby realizing remarkable enhancements in system scalability, data security, privacy, network and overall server performance. Although the technical and operational benefits of this integration were well understood and documented, however there was an important gap that is cost analysis. This paper addresses the gap by providing a comprehensive cost analysis of voice call archiving with and without NAS and GSM Gateway integration using UC. The analysis considers essential financial factors, including initial investment, ongoing operational costs, and long-term savings due to lower maintenance and scalability. While the findings reveal that the upfront costs of NAS and GSM Gateway integration are higher, these are offset by long-term operational efficiencies and system resilience, leading to substantial financial gains. The evaluation results offer organizations a strategic model to assess the cost-effectiveness of using this NAS-GSM Gateway integrated approach for voice data archiving in UC environments. This custom-costing solution provides a much-needed holistic perspective on the combined technical and financial benefits.

Advancements in Network Attached Storage (NAS) for Mobile Devices: Technological Developments and Performance Assessment

An efficient unused integrated circuits detection algorithm for parallel scan architecture

In recent days, many integrated circuits (ICs) are operated parallelly to increase switching operations in on-chip static random access memory (SRAM) array, due to more complex tasks and parallel operations being executed in many digital systems. Hence, it is important to efficiently identify the long-duration unused ICs in the on-chip SRAM memory array layout and to effectively distribute the task to unused ICs in SRAM memory array. In the present globalization, semiconductor supply chain detection of unused SRAM in large memory arrays is a very difficult task. This also results in reduced lifetime and more power dissipation. To overcome the above-mentioned drawbacks, an efficient unused integrated circuits detection algorithm (ICDA) for parallel scan architecture is proposed to differentiate the ‘0’ and ‘1’ in a larger SRAM memory array. The proposed architecture avoids the unbalancing of ‘0’ and ‘1’ concentrations in the on-chip SRAM memory array and also optimizes the area required for the memory array. As per simulation results, the proposed method is more efficient in terms of reliability, the detection rate in both used and unused ICs and reduction of power dissipation in comparison to conventional methods such as backscattering side-channel analysis (BSCA) and network attached storage (NAS) algorithm.

Perbandingan Kinerja Sistem Operasi Network Attached Storage: Studi Kasus Truenas dan Xigmanas

Network Attached Storage (NAS) is a data storage device that operates through a computer network and provides an efficient and cost-effective storage solution due to its open-source foundation. This research compares the performance of TrueNAS and XigmaNAS as NAS operating systems in terms of data transfer speed and resource utilization over a period of 7 days. The tested parameters include file copy, file classification, file duplicate detection, CPU usage, and memory usage. The research results indicate that the average file transfer speed from server to client in TrueNAS is 7.4 Mbps, while in XigmaNAS it is 7.36 Mbps. The average file classification rate in TrueNAS is 863 files/s, whereas in XigmaNAS it is 813 files/s. The average speed of duplicate file detection in TrueNAS is 1.23 files/s, while in XigmaNAS it is 1.13 files/s. The average CPU usage in TrueNAS is 30.08%, compared to 29.38% in XigmaNAS. The average available memory for TrueNAS is 6.13 GiB, and for XigmaNAS it is 5.41 GiB. Despite the small variations and differences observed in the test results, overall, TrueNAS outperforms XigmaNAS in the analyzed aspects.

IoT-interfaced solid-contact ion-selective electrodes for cyber-monitoring of element- specific nutrient information in hydroponics

This study aims to monitor element-specific nutrient information during hydroponic cultivation by IoT-interfaced miniaturized ion sensors. Because of size, cost, and manufacturing advantages, solid-contact ion-selective electrodes (SCISEs) were fabricated as an ion sensor array and interfaced with wireless embedded-systems to construct an IoT nutrient sensor system (IoNSS) for the first time. The entire IoNSS framework was composed of (i) a nutrient solution sampling and sensing module with SCISEs controlled by an Arduino Due® microcontroller, (ii) a Wio Terminal® microcontroller for automated procedure setting, data recording, and wireless transmission, (iii) a private cloud server (a Network Attached Storage equipped with Node-RED® and MongoDB®) for data management, and (iv) MQTT webpage-based interactive interfaces. In experiments, we found that potentiometric signal resolution and noise of the Arduino-interfaced SCISEs were significantly improved and approached to instrumental DAQ-like quality by additional delta-sigma ADC (ADS1115®) chip conditioning. This facilitated cost-effective harvest of precise and high-quality IoT ion sensor data. Before on-site applications, each SCISE was two-point calibrated in multiple-ion solutions and was checked with the fixed interference method. The ion concentration measurements were also compared with those of commercial ISEs and ion chromatography. To test the system’s feasibility, the IoNSS was applied to cyber-monitoring of K+, NO3–, and NH4+ concentrations during two-week hydroponic cultivation of arugula (E. vesicaria) in an indoor plant factory (in Northern Taiwan) with a modified Cornell solution and an outdoor greenhouse (in Southern Taiwan) with a modified Yamasaki solution, respectively. It was demonstrated that the IoNSS was capable of real-time observation of the crop’s nitrate/ammonium utilization and nutrient solution’s EC-element dependency. Besides, the web interfaces successfully reported growing condition-dependent ion signals in a simultaneous and remote manner. To sum up, this work achieves novel cybermonitoring of element-specific nutrients by IoT-interfaced SCISEs and paves a promising way for intelligent hydroponic management.

Analysis of Network Attached Storage Performance with NFS Protocol in Integrated Business Start-Up

The need for data storage due to individual and group computing work is increasing, so storage media with reliable capabilities and good performance are needed. The way that can be solution is shared storage, which is using one storage to be used together. One of the commonly used shared storage is NAS (Network Attached Storage). IBS (Integrated Business Start Up) uses NAS as a backup storage medium that will store important data that supports the performance of IBS services as a whole, so it is necessary to analyze to find out how the performance of the NAS system uses the NFS Protocol as the basis of the service. whereas in this study the focus of performance testing was carried out by looking at the results of measuring packet loss, throughput, CPU usage, and memory usage on the NAS server used. the performance level of the system used is running well, as seen from the results of the throughput test of 1.1 GB, packet loss of around 0%, CPU usage of 0.5%, and memory usage of 382.5Mb. Enhancing Data Storage and Access in CSN Labs with Raspberry Pi 3B+ and Open Media Vault NAS

The purpose of this study was to devise a more efficient system for data storage and exchange in the Computer System and Network (CSN) Laboratory at Ibn Khaldun Bogor University. Open Media Vault (OMV) software and Raspberry Pi 3B+ were employed to establish a Network Attached Storage (NAS) system. The performance and file transfer speeds of the Raspberry Pi were evaluated in the context of this implementation. The implementation of the NAS system was intended to offer students of the CSN laboratory swifter and more efficient access to data, thereby reducing dependence on USB media. The findings of this study could hold substantial implications for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of data storage and exchange in educational environments.

Implementation of Synology NAS-Based Storage System Type DS220+ at LSP-SV IPB

As the digital world evolves, safeguarding digital assets becomes crucial for organizations, particularly educational institutions. LSP SV-IPB, as a vocational certification body, manages student data, academic records, and other valuable information. Therefore, it is essential to implement an effective protection strategy. The research aims to develop and implement digital asset protection strategies at the LSP SV-IPB. The protection focuses on data storage management so that passive data is properly stored as the main backup and transactional data runs efficiently. The Synology Network Attached Storage (NAS) was proposed as the development model. NAS has proven efficient in managing data and providing reliable backups. Through NAS, passive data can be properly archived and protected, while transactional data can be accessed and processed at optimal speed. Hence, literature studies, software analysis, and experiments on the network environment were conducted. Model development was conducted using the design and implementation of NAS infrastructure at the LSP SV-IPB. Data collection covered the effective and efficient use of NAS in maintaining data integrity and mitigating the risk of losing important information. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of an efficient and reliable digital asset protection strategy within the LSP SV-IPB environment.

Making your Own NAS

This project aims to deploy the personal NAS system for remote and centralized storage solutions for all types of handsets and systems. Modern network-attached storage architectures suffer from poor performance, resource management, and inflexibility. We examine the problems of current architectures and propose another format for doing network storage at the user level. Nowadays, we have multiple cloud service providers, so there will always be an issue with data protection and backups. So, to solve all these issues, we came up with the new pre-existing idea of NAS, to leverage the data storage over the network using a GUI or dedicated devices. NAS will act as a public or private cloud storage service, which can be accessed from anywhere on the globe through internet facilities.

Due to its availability on the network. It can easily accessed by any number of heterogeneous clients. The NAS system easy to use and configured and it also of added security features and web server capabilities.

Description of a low-cost picture archiving and communication system based on network-attached storage.

High costs for installing, maintaining, and updating a standard picture archiving and communication system (PACS) can be prohibitive for small/medium‐sized veterinary facilities. The aims of this prospective, exploratory study were to describe the design, implementation, and author experiences for 1 year's use of a low‐cost PACS based on network‐attached storage. The system described here was easily installed and resiliently stored redundant copies of data. It excellently balanced data recovery, system speed, security, and available memory for storage. A virtual private network also allowed off‐site data review. This system can also be used for future off‐site backup of data in the cloud.

HMLET: Hunt Malware Using Wavelet Transform on Cross-Platform

As the importance of cyberspace grows, malicious software (malware) is threatening not only individuals but also countries. In addition, numerous malware is still circulating in cyberspace, and as technology advances, new or advanced malware are emerging. In the real world, files from cross-platforms are distributed via e-mail, network-attached storage (NAS), shared drives, Etc. However, most malware detection models target only single-platform. Therefore, malware detection of cross-platforms has a significant and essential role. We propose <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">HMLET</i> , a cross-platform malware detection model. Our proposed <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">HMLET</i> uses content-based information that binary files all have in common, rather than file structure-based information that is not common to each platform, to detect malware of various file types in the cross-platform. We create file content-based information features for malware detection using wavelet transform. However, fixing the input data length when performing wavelet transform was necessary because the amount of information extracted according to the input data length was not constant.We fix the input data length through the Joint Probability Distribution (JPD) matrix to solve the input data length problem. After learning in the machine learning model, malware detection performance was evaluated through extracted features. Malware detection performance on the Windows platform showed 97% accuracy on <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">HMLET</i> and 99% on the Linux platform. In addition, on theWindows & Linux platform, <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">HMLET</i> showed 97% accuracy. According to experiment results, <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">HMLET</i> shows high-performance malware detection in the cross-platform, making it suitable to be used as a malware detection model in the cross-platform.

Design of a Soft Gripper Using Genetic Algorithms

In this paper, we present an artificial intelligence-assisted design of a soft robotic gripper. First, we formulate the design of the soft gripper as an optimization problem. Then, we design and configure a genetic algorithm (GA) method to solve the problem under design constraints. Lastly, we implement the whole system in co-simulation between the GA and a computer-aided design software that evaluates the candidate solutions using finite element analysis. A network-attached storage server connecting multiple nodes runs the GA method in parallel, to accelerate the process. After experimentation, we present simulation results to validate our approach.

Cloud-Based NAS (Network Attached Storage) Analysis as an Infrastructure as A Service (IAAS) Using Open Source NAS4FREE and Owncloud

At this time, computer systems and networks are an essential part of human life. The number can see this of computer users in the office or on campus, and at school. This need has reached a relatively large number. To access data, many computer users in the network continue to increase, impacting the selection of servers, and large data storage media is necessary. Currently, the storage media that is often used to store data still uses physical media such as hard disks, flash disks that are virus-prone and easy to lose. Another problem also arises when physical storage has a relatively high price compared to cloud storage that can be accessed anywhere when needed.

Construction of a New Network Information Resource Storage System

On the basis of introducing the function of information storage system, this paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of three kinds of traditional information resource storage systems: Direct Attached Storage (DAS), network attached storage (NAS) and storage area network (SAN) ct-Based Storage). In cities where a large geographical area of the city is densely populated, the process of waste collection is cumbersome, tiresome and expensive. Often, the burden of manually tracking and collecting of waste causes waste management companies enormous wasted effort and get them involved in tasks that are not necessary. No doubt, a digital interaction between waste management companies and targeted waste collection areas could ensure the process becomes fast, efficient and traceable as they become aware of the states of the wastes, aptly. It will considerably reduce any discrepancies that may occur due to the lack of information available during a particular time. Accordingly, this paper proposes a novel approach towards waste management combined with the internet of things to reduce the problems that would occur due to the accumulation of wastes and hence improvise waste collection/management process. Additionally, an innovative feature which generates revenue and creates business opportunities for waste management companies is introduced via advertisement solution based on network-attached storage technology.

Building data centers using Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Microprocessor Operating Systems

Computer Laboratory of the University of Technology Sumbawa still does not have a Data Center, in the process of learning and teaching experiencing several obstacles one of which is the difficulty in sharing files between computers. The research objective is to build a Data Center at the Computer Laboratory of the University of Technology Sumbawa with the aim of facilitating practicum participants in sharing files between computer system devices. The method used in this research is the network development method Prepare, Plan, design, Implement, Operate, Optimize (PPDIOO). The results of NAS tests on different devices give results that are file access connections via wireless and LAN can run well and by producing Data Centers at the Computer Laboratory of the University of Technology Sumbawa can facilitate the process of storing cheap and efficient data.

A data reduction and compression description for high throughput time-resolved electron microscopy

Fast, direct electron detectors have significantly improved the spatio-temporal resolution of electron microscopy movies. Preserving both spatial and temporal resolution in extended observations, however, requires storing prohibitively large amounts of data. Here, we describe an efficient and flexible data reduction and compression scheme (ReCoDe) that retains both spatial and temporal resolution by preserving individual electron events. Running ReCoDe on a workstation we demonstrate on-the-fly reduction and compression of raw data streaming off a detector at 3 GB/s, for hours of uninterrupted data collection. The output was 100-fold smaller than the raw data and saved directly onto network-attached storage drives over a 10 GbE connection. We discuss calibration techniques that support electron detection and counting (e.g., estimate electron backscattering rates, false positive rates, and data compressibility), and novel data analysis methods enabled by ReCoDe (e.g., recalibration of data post acquisition, and accurate estimation of coincidence loss).

Multiperspective Assessment of Enterprise Data Storage Systems: The Use of Expert Judgment Quantification and Constant Sum Pairwise Comparison in Finding Criteria Weights

Digital transformation has taken center stage in every IT organization. Data is being created at various sources: edge, core, and cloud at an unprecedented rate. For enterprise IT infrastructure, this means more places to store data and more ways to store them. Storage solutions can be broadly categorized as Direct Attached Storage (DAS), Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI), and Public Cloud Storage, each with its advantages and potential drawbacks. Besides computing and networking, storage is one of the core physical components of an IT infrastructure. Application performance and availability depend strongly on their underlying storage. As such, the selection of storage systems is one of the critical decisions for IT executives. Assessment of Enterprise Data Storage Systems (EDSS) for selecting the one that provides a comprehensive solution requires not only the consideration of technical performance and economic feasibility but also other perspectives such as strategic, operational, and regulatory. An assessment model with multiple perspectives and related criteria will serve as a valuable reference in the decision-making process. This study uses expert judgment to validate an assessment model covering Strategic, Technological, Operational, Regulatory, and Economic (STORE) perspectives and their related criteria. Expert judgment is also used to calculate the criteria weights using the constant sum pairwise comparison method. The results can be used for the evaluation of various storage alternatives under consideration. It is anticipated that the STORE assessment model and criteria weights will be valid for IT organizations in their long-term strategic decision-making.

Network Data Acquisition and Monitoring System for Intensive Care Mechanical Ventilation Treatment

The rise of model-based and machine learning methods have created increasingly realistic opportunities to implement personalized, patient-specific mechanical ventilation (MV) in the ICU. These methods require monitoring of real-time patient ventilation waveform data (VWD) during MV treatment. However, there are relatively few non-invasive and/or non-proprietary systems to monitor and record patient-specific lung condition in real-time. In this paper, we present a CARE network data acquisition and monitoring system (CARENet) to automate data collection and to remotely monitor patient-specific lung condition and ventilation parameters. The automated system acquires VWD from a mechanical ventilator using a data acquisition device (DAQ), stores data in network-attached storage (NAS), and processes VWDs via a data management platform (DMP) web application. The web application enables real-time and retrospective model-based monitoring and analysis of clinical MV data. In particular, CARENet provides detailed breath-by-breath patient-specific respiratory mechanics, as well as the overall trends assessing changes in patient condition. Validation testing with a retrospective data set illustrated how breath-to-breath and time-varying patient-ventilator interaction during MV can be monitored, and, in turn, can be used to guide MV treatment. The network data acquisition system design presented is low-cost, open, and enables continuous, automated, scalable, real-time collection and analysis of waveform data, to help improve decision making, care, and outcomes in MV.
