The purpose of this study is to bring about the historical significance of dance policy in Korea''s cultural and artistic promotion policy, and to present an ideal way of evolution. To this end, the theory of neo-institutionalism was set as a quasi-gurst and the corresponding policies of cultural and artistic promotion and dance were analyzed by the government. In this process, the focus was on explaining the change in the system of the dance policy and the dependence of the system''s path. As a result, the purpose is to find out how cultural and artistic promotion policies have affected cultural and arts by institutional changes related to dance policies. To this end, the process of how changes in the system have been made so far was analyzed intensively as of 1972, when the Culture and Arts Promotion Act was enacted. Considering the evolutionary analysis and direction of the Korean dance policy, problems regarding cultural and artistic policies and dance policies have emerged continuously. Dance, one of the cultural and artistic fields in particular, has diversified and expanded in social and cultural scope, but public awareness is still much lower than other arts. Therefore, revitalization measures for popularization are needed in terms of performing arts, cultural arts and educational aspects, and policy suggestions, along with the enactment of various laws, are of paramount However, it is urgent for the people to enjoy the culture in their daily lives.
