Evaluation of Environmental Management at Pulang Pisau Regional General Hospital Based on Environmental Impact Assessment Studies and Regional Development

This study aims to evaluate environmental management at Pulang Pisau Regional General Hospital (RSUD) within the framework of participatory development planning. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, with validation through methodological and source triangulation. The findings indicate that environmental planning and management at RSUD Pulang Pisau remain technocratic, with limited public involvement. The lack of public dialogue spaces and multi-stakeholder consultations results in low community participation in sustainable development. Implementing medical and liquid waste management policies follows national regulations but still faces challenges in resource efficiency and environmental impact monitoring. This study recommends strengthening inclusive environmental governance by establishing multi-stakeholder forums and public consultation mechanisms and enhancing community education and empowerment in environmental monitoring. Policy evaluation based on George C. Edward III's implementation theory highlights the importance of clear communication, resource availability, stakeholder commitment, and an effective bureaucratic structure in successfully implementing environmental policies. This research emphasizes that active public participation in hospital environmental management is not merely a technical aspect but also an integral part of an inclusive and sustainable development process.

Creating futures out of the conference: 20 years of strengthening mental health capacity in the Pacific.

Creating Futures (CF) is an independent, collaborative taskforce supported by in-kind commitments from organisations and practitioners. This paper summarises CF 2023 themes and provides an overview of 20years of CF activities. It highlights challenges and opportunities to integrate global mental health partnerships and regional mental health projects. CF promotes a partnership model which has created an important space for dialogue, publications, training, and peer-to-peer support. This improves visibility of the Pacific voices and brings out a more nuanced discussion of the complexities of mental health capacity building, leading to informed and sustainable developments in mental health care.

Fado – the Space of Intercultural Dialogue between Poland and Portugal

This article explores fado music as a medium for intercultural dialogue between Portugal and Poland, focusing on the early 21st century while considering its multicultural roots in Lisbon’s marine districts. The study situates itself within broader research on fado’s global reach, including its popularity in Japan. The first section examines fado’s role in multicultural relations, presenting it as a living heritage and space for dialogue. The second section highlights the integration of Polish and Portuguese cultural elements in fado. The third section discusses fado concerts and festivals in Poland, emphasizing their role in cultural exchange, with a case study on Fado Café in Grudziądz.

Social responsibility and university governance: Case study public universities in the central zone of Ecuador

Social Responsibility (SR), currently plays a leading role in the management and management of organizations, guiding them to be socially responsible. The objective of the study presented is to analyze the factors associated with Social Responsibility and University governance, in public universities in the central zone of Ecuador. The investigative analysis was carried out with a 145 sample of students corresponding to the five public universities in the area, for which qualitative methodology was used, as it allowed explaining the problem from a social and descriptive context, the quantitative methodology on the other hand allowed apply a questionnaire to collect information and thus have a clearer appreciation of the objective reality of university management and its relationship with society; it is also non-experimental cross-sectional in order to achieve the proposed objective. Among the results obtained, common elements were found that are repeated in the 5 universities analyzed, 51.03% know the code of ethics, 31.10% say that there is evaluation and training of administrative personnel, 57.24% state that there are none. spaces for dialogue and participation of university actors, 75.67% say that universities have an organizational structure, in addition, a deficiency was identified in communication systems. The data also indicate that students have a negative perspective in relation to the ability of administrative staff to effectively fulfill their role within the university, which demonstrates that students have a negative view in relation to the management carried out by administrative staff in its role within the institutions, it can then be said that a very notable weakness is evident in university governance. These data are relevant for decision-making and the incorporation of effective strategies for responsible management of the institutions analyzed

Postkomunistyczna samoświadomość jako źródło wolności w teatrze polskim po 1989 roku

The period of political and social transformation in Poland poses an enormous challenge for theatre makers. Half a century of our country’s existence within the structures of the Eastern Bloc is a lasting legacy through which the changing reality of the 1990s and subsequent decades can be interpreted. This period left a clear mark of trauma on society, becoming a crucial element of collective identity. After 1989, Poles had to face new challenges and new upheavals. Post-communist self-consciousness is thus understood as an exploration of various emotions related to the experience of the past and the changes that came with the fall of communism.The need to re-evaluate and reinterpret the historical context, to introduce new political references or to show previously unknown social phenomena allows theatre not only to portray reality, but also to make theatre a space for social dialogue about moral choices, value conflicts and ethical dilemmas that emerged as a result of the socio-political transformation.This essay aims to show how Polish theatre used post-communist self-consciousness as a source of inspiration and reflection on freedom. In this context, it is a complex and multidimensional issue. Apart from questions about its political or social dimension, there are also aesthetic issues. Theatre, in its search for new forms of expression, reflects the quest for democratisation, open debate and self-definition by individuals and groups. The text also attempts to identify common themes and trends that shaped Polish theatre after 1989.

Furthermore, this analysis explores how characters manage language differences and the broader societal attitudes toward multilingualism. By examining these renowned works from authors of distinct cultural backgrounds and experiences, this paper sheds light on the intricate connection between culture, identity, and language.

Library as a space for inclusivity and dialogue: experience of transforming Polish libraries on the border of centuries

Objective. The research aims to analyze the transformations that took place in the Polish system of public libraries in the late 1980s – the early 2000s. Methods. Regarding methodology, the authors handle the concept of “the library” as “the meeting-place”, which presents an interpretation of conclusions made by Emmanuel Levinas, one of the classics of the philosophy of dialogue. Results. The results of the research evidence the concentration of efforts exerted by Polish librarians on the creation of pro-community libraries not meeting the community’s informational needs alone but being the hubs of dialogical interaction of various social groups. Conclusions. The conclusions outline the modern Polish libraries’ tending to expand the range of services provided for readers, taking into consideration severe competition among cultural institutions. The authors have proposed several promising strategies for further study of the problem range. These strategies are determined by the necessity of researching the title based on a broader background to the development of the librarianship theory in the countries of Western Europe and North America.

Ancestral Knowledge: Taptana Cañari, A Systematic Review of the Last Four Years

Objective: The research aims to analyze how this knowledge, especially Taptana, has been incorporated into educational systems during the last four years.. Theoretical Framework: This systematic review examines the integration of ancestral knowledge in education, focusing on the use of the Taptana Cañari, a mathematical instrument of the Cañari people in Ecuador. The work highlights the importance of ancestral knowledge, which encompasses cultural practices and knowledge transmitted over generations, in a context where globalization threatens its relevance. Method: The PRISMA method was used for a rigorous review and relevant studies were identified through various databases such as Scopus, SciELO, Redalyc, Dialnet, Erih Plus, Latindex and the César Vallejo University. Results and Discussion: The findings indicate that the Taptana Cañari is not only a valuable teaching resource, but also reflects an Andean worldview that can enrich mathematical learning and promote intercultural education. However, it is observed that its integration into educational curricula is limited, which poses a significant challenge for its recognition and use. Implications of the Research: The appreciation of ancestral knowledge is essential to strengthen cultural identity and promote more equitable education. Originality/Value: Generating spaces for dialogue in classrooms that integrate ancestral knowledge with modern knowledge contributes to a more sustainable future that respects cultural diversity.

Editor's note The following contribution originally results from an oral response to the presentations and discussions at the Access to Waxes conference in Berlin in December 2021. It is therefore, especially in comparison to the other articles within this issue, to be understood primarily as a kind of fundamental positioning and has been included here for that very reason. In it, the specific example of the Berlin Phonogramm-Archiv's holdings and their accessibility and digitization is taken as an opportunity to draw particular attention to the connection between technical infrastructures and science diplomacy. At the level of metadata and repositories, it cannot be a matter of constructing new, finally "valid" identities, claiming ownership, etcetera. The point, then, is to enable the negotiation of these issues through access to the sources. The question is who would create and moderate a space for such international negotiations. This could be done, for example, within the framework of the German National Research Data Infrastructure (Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur/NFDI) and in exchange with UNESCO.

Links Between the Teacher’s Atmosphere Postures and the Pupils’ Study Postures When Solving Proportionality Problems, identified under Implicative Statistical Analysis in ICHC-MGK

This article aims to examine the possible links between the teacher’s atmospheric postures and the students’ learning postures during the teaching of mathematics, particularly with regard to solving proportionality problems in 3rd grade at Bourbon College on Reunion Island. This analysis will be based on the observation of teaching practices through video sequences, and will be deepened through the use of Implicative Statistical Analysis (ISA) according to ICHC-MGK. The study results show that maintaining a space for dialogue encourages students to adopt an academic posture. Creating this space for dialogue also helps to capture their attention. As a result, the study highlights the importance of providing teachers with in-depth training and a better understanding of their pupils’ individual needs. This would enable them to adapt their teaching methods more effectively to the particularities of each learning context, in order to improve student success.

Interfaith Dialogue as a Tool for Combating Discrimination: Theological Insights and Practical Applications

This article examines interfaith dialogue (IFD) as a transformative tool for combating religious discrimination and fostering inclusive societies. Drawing from theological insights and practical applications, the study explores the historical, social, and psychological roots of religious discrimination, highlighting how IFD can bridge divides and promote mutual understanding. Inclusive theologies and pluralist frameworks, including phenomenological pluralism, are analyzed to underscore their contributions to creating dialogical spaces where diverse religious identities coexist and thrive. Through detailed case studies and an evaluation of practical strategies, the article demonstrates the effectiveness of IFD in reducing stereotypes, promoting human rights, and cultivating intercommunal trust. It also introduces innovative methods for implementing IFD, addressing challenges, and leveraging digital platforms to extend its reach. Ultimately, the research affirms IFD's vital role in addressing the complexities of a pluralistic world while inspiring future initiatives for peacebuilding and reconciliation.

Unity or Divergence: Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah Perspective on Interfaith Moderation

This study delves into the perspectives of Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah members on the value of interfaith moderation in Indonesia. As the two foremost Islamic organizations, both play pivotal roles in shaping religious discourse and fostering harmony among diverse religious communities. Despite both organizations claiming adherence to Moderate Islam, this research identifies potential gaps between the conceptualization and grassroots implementation of these values. Differing interpretations arise, mainly due to the lack of a precise definition of "moderate." The research adopts a quantitative methodology, utilizing the Mann-Whitney U test to assess and compare the stance points of Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah members across six dimensions of interfaith moderation. The findings reveal nuanced differences in stances, with notable distinctions in religious tolerance, social and cultural inclusiveness, and economic activities. However, both organizations share common values, emphasizing the importance of dialogue spaces for acknowledging differences and maintaining moderation values.

The article advocates for the recognition of university museums as key actors in preserving and disseminating European heritage. By fulfilling their tasks of commemorating, discussing, and learning from European university heritage, these institutions significantly contribute to the ongoing construction of a cohesive European identity grounded in shared history, values, and cultural heritage.

Transmitting stories of the longest revolution. Notes from Italy

ABSTRACT Building on a digitally mediated autoethnography within a contemporary Italian feminist movement, the paper analyses the transformations of feminist media practices in Italy since the start of the 20th century. If during the 1960s and 1970s Italian feminism reached its higher visibility as one of the largest in Europe, since the 1980s, it continued to operate in submerged ways through the creation of feminist bookshops, publishing companies, women’s archives and centres while engaging with practices, ideologies and texts that were circulating transnationally. Since the early 1990s Italian feminist groups started engaging with digital technologies, creating new virtual spaces of dialogue, an autonomous internet service provider, an alternative search engine, digital literacy programmes and practical laboratories. Over the past two decades, the online space became the privileged sphere for activists to challenge the hegemonic gender discourse, debate topics otherwise suppressed or misrepresented by traditional media and create a record of struggle. Expanding from a conceptualization of feminist activism as a process of transit, in this paper, I analyse how feminist media practices gradually transformed, shaped by historical and contextual specificities.

Online communities as arenas of "amateur expertise": examples from the social media activity for justice for Roman Zadorov.

This study examines online communities as arenas where diverse forms of expertise converge to influence discourse and public opinion. Using the case of social media activism advocating for justice in the wrongful conviction of Roman Zadorov for the murder of Tair Rada, it highlights how these communities serve as platforms for "professional amateurs" and demonstrates their similarities and differences from participants in the formal legal arena. The study employs a netnographic approach to analyze seven years of social media activity across 15 Facebook groups comprising over 300,000 members. Data collection included participant observation, interviews with 25 group administrators, and thematic content analysis of posts and interactions. This methodological triangulation provides a comprehensive understanding of the discourse and dynamics within these activist communities. Six categories of experts were identified in the online discourse: 1. Court-admissible experts, including People directly connected to the case, people who are knowledgeable about the involved parties and the surrounding area, expert witnesses who are professionals testifying based on their field-specific expertise, and circumstantial witnesses who have experienced relevant events firsthand. 2. Non-court-admissible experts, including people with deep, self-taught expertise and people relying on nonrational sources, such as supernatural insights. The findings highlight the unique character of online activism as a dialogic space where conventional and unconventional forms of expertise coexist, contributing to public narratives around justice. The study offers a novel conceptualization of online communities as platforms for expert-driven discourse. It underscores the importance of "pro-am" expertise and symbolic capital in shaping public understanding of contentious issues. While focused on a specific legal case, the study provides broader insights into the dynamics of expertise in online activism, emphasizing the duality of court-admissible and non-court-admissible expertise. Future research should explore these dynamics across varied contexts to further understand the role of online communities in social discourse and activism.

‘One school, two systems’: Navigating the geographies of alternative education in an elite primary school in China

AbstractDespite the global rise of alternative education as a response to the limitations of standardised methods, little attention has been given to how these systems coexist with mainstream education, particularly in non‐Anglophone contexts. This article addresses this gap by examining a distinctive primary school in Guangzhou, China, where alternative and mainstream education coexist on the same campus. Utilising the framework of spaces of prescription and negotiation, the study explores how alternative educational spaces navigate the constraints of China's centralised educational system while maintaining their distinctiveness. The findings reveal that T School strategically adapts mainstream educational spatial forms to support its elite education philosophy, thereby underscoring the fluid boundaries and dynamic interplay between alternative and mainstream education. This research advances the understanding of the spatial and temporal strategies that alternative education employs within standardised systems, offering insights into the adaptability of educational boundaries. Furthermore, the study illuminates the flexibility of spaces of prescription and negotiation within overlapping and interconnected power geometries. By adopting a critical and poststructuralist approach, the framework could enrich the understanding of the fluidity and negotiation of educational boundaries globally. The study's findings carry significant implications for policymakers and educators, guiding the development of more inclusive and responsive educational policies worldwide.

NEGOTIATING BOUNDARIES AND MARKING CONTAMINATION: THE TRANS-CORPORAL FEMALE BODY IN J. G. BALLARD’S COCAINE NIGHTS

This paper explores the concept of trans-corporeality in J.G. Ballard’s urban violence novel Cocaine Nights (1996) and utilises his earlier catastrophe novel The Drowned World (1962) as a supporting framework for interpreting female bodies as trans-corporeal spaces. The Drowned World centres around a lone female character who lives under a patriarchal regime, where she is moulded and suppressed within an androcentric world that parallels the catastrophic events unfolding on Earth. In Cocaine Nights, the female characters are exposed to urban violence resulting from the interaction between human and non-human entities, with their bodies serving as the site of contact. Drawing upon fourth-wave ecocriticism, the paper argues that the female bodies in Cocaine Nights challenge traditional notions of human autonomy and underscore the interconnectedness of all beings within the ecosystem. Through a detailed analysis of key scenes and characters, the paper demonstrates how these female bodies become spaces of negotiation and transformation, where the boundaries between human and non-human entities constantly shift. Additionally, the paper examines how the environments mark and impact the female bodies, leading to contamination and compromise through their experiences. By adopting a transcorporeal perspective, this research offers a more nuanced understanding of the relationship between human and non-human entities, emphasising the vital role of environmental factors in shaping our physical and emotional well-being. The author Wendy Brown develops in her works the concept of sacrificial citizenship, correlating it with neoliberalism and the reduction of citizenship as a responsible investment in oneself. In this article, we seek to investigate to what extent the adoption of an Interagent Public Attorney’s Office, corroborates the overcoming of the paradigm of sacrificial citizenship and the strengthening of a participatory and inclusive democracy. In conclusive terms, the National Policy of Incentive to Self-composition within the scope of the Public Attorney’s Office is understood as an opportunity for rapprochement between parquet and civil society, with the opening of public spaces for dialogue.
