Institute, the uniqueness of this course comes from a professional educator working with a professional police officer to come up with a curriculum that builds a mean ingful writing program for police officers and recruits. Thus, it has been my experience that the English teacher need not be an ivory tower academician. The community, the world of work, is ready to acknowledge the expertise of the writing teacher and to employ it to the advantage of both the world of work and the reality of schooling. After such an experience, teachers of writing will be able to bring to the classroom not only the expertise of their own discipline, but the security of knowing that their method of teaching and objectives are relevant to the disciplines into which their students will walk prepared.
