Design and Development of a Mobile E-Wallet Management Prototype Using NFC Technology

In the era of digitalization, the need for innovation in financial management has become increasingly urgent. With the emergence of E-wallets as a digital payment solution, the efficiency and security of transactions have become primary focuses. Therefore, this research plays a crucial role in presenting an innovative solution by designing and developing a mobile application prototype that integrates E-wallet management with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. The urgency of this research is highlighted by the increasing use of E-wallets, which indicates that digital financial solutions are gaining wider acceptance in society. In this context, the integration of NFC becomes relevant as it offers higher security and enables more efficient transactions. This study aims to address the growing market demand for digital payment solutions that are fast, secure, and user-friendly. The objective is to design and develop a mobile application prototype that not only simplifies E-wallet management but also leverages the advantages of NFC technology. The goal is to provide users with a more convenient and secure transaction experience. Thus, this research is expected to increase the adoption of E-wallets among the general public. The result of this research is a mobile application prototype integrated with NFC technology for E-wallet management.

The Application of Near Field Communication (NFC) in Public Transportation: Current Practices, Challenges, and Future Prospects

In the field of public transportation, the introduction of NFC technology can realize contactless payment and automatic ticket checking functions, significantly improving system efficiency and passenger experience. The article first reviews the development history of the public transportation system and the basic principles of NFC technology, and then analyzes the technical architecture and working principle of the NFC payment system. Through the cases of public transportation systems in many cities around the world, the practical application and effect of NFC technology are demonstrated. This article also verifies the transaction speed, stability and user satisfaction of NFC technology in the public transportation system through a series of experimental evaluations. The results show that NFC technology has excellent performance in terms of processing speed, system stability and user satisfaction, especially during peak hours, its advantages are more obvious. At the same time, the research also pointed out the limitations of current NFC technology applications and the challenges faced in practical applications. In the future, NFC technology will become more complete and is expected to provide passengers with a more personalized and intelligent service experience.

Optimizing point-of-sale services in MEC enabled near field wireless communications using multi-agent reinforcement learning

In the next-generation communication system, near-field communication (NFC) is a key enabler of contactless transactions, including mobile payments, ticketing, and access control. With the growing demand for contactless solutions, NFC technology will play a pivotal role in enabling secure and convenient payment experiences across various sectors. In contrast, Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as phones’ Point of Sale (PoS) constitute limited battery life and finite computational resources that act as a bottleneck to doing the authentication in a minimal amount of time. Because of this, it garnered considerable attention in both academic and industrial realms. To overcome this, in this work we consider the Multiple Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) as an effective solution that provides extensive computation to PoS connected to it. To address the above, this work considers the PoS-enabled multi-MEC network to guarantee NFC communication reliably and effectively. For this, we formulate the joint optimization problem to maximize the probability of successful authentication while minimizing the queueing delay by jointly optimizing the computation and communication resources by utilizing a multi-agent reinforcement learning optimization approach. Through extensive simulations based on real-world scenarios, the effectiveness of the proposed approach was demonstrated. The results demonstrate that adjusting the complexity and learning rates of the model, coupled with strategic allocation of edge resources, significantly increased authentication success rates. Furthermore, the optimal allocation strategy was found to be crucial in reducing latency and improving authentication success by approximately 9.75%, surpassing other approaches. This study highlights the importance of resource management in optimizing MEC systems, paving the way for advancements in establishing secure, efficient, and dependable systems within the Internet of Things framework.

A Portable Electrochemical Biosensor Based on an Amino-Modified Ionic Metal-Organic Framework for the One-Site Detection of Multiple Organophosphorus Pesticides.

Constructing stable, portable sensors and revealing their mechanisms is challenging. Ion metal-organic frameworks (IMOFs) are poised to serve as highly effective electrochemical sensors for detecting organophosphorus pesticides (OPs), leveraging their unique charge properties. In this work, an amino-modified IMOF was constructed and combined with near-field communication (NFC) technology to develop a portable, touchless, and battery-free electrochemical biosensor NH2-IMOF@CS@AChE. -NH2 in NH2-IMOF gives the framework a higher electropositivity compared to IMOF, enhancing the electrostatic attraction with acetylcholinesterase (AChE), which is beneficial for immobilizing AChE. Furthermore, the uncoordinated O atoms and the (CH3)2NH2+ groups in NH2-IMOF help to form stronger bonds with AChE through hydrogen bonds. The results showed a wide linear response range of 1 × 10-15 to 1 × 10-9 M and a low detection limit of 1.24 × 10-13 M for glyphosate (Gly) in the practical detection of OPs. Additionally, electrochemical biosensor arrays were constructed to effectively identify and distinguish multiple OPs on the basis of their unique differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) electrochemical signals. This work provides a simple and effective solution for on-site OP analysis and can be widely applied in food safety and water quality monitoring.

The impact of emerging technologies of industry 4.0 on sustainability dimensions

In the Industry 4.0 (I4.0) era, emerging technologies positively affect sustainability both internally within the industry and externally at the global level. Sustainable productive systems are expected to be with the best indicators levels through using emerging technologies in the I4.0. This study aims to investigate the effect of emerging technologies in the I4.0 on the sustainability pillars through an analysis of a case study conducted at King Saud University about a Smart Yogurt Filling System. In this system, the most critical emerging technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, Near field communication technology (NFC), and Node-RED, were applied. A unique framework for the study was developed. The study demonstrated both successful implementation of sustainability goals and the challenges encountered during the process. According to the current study, I4.0 emerging technologies enhance customer satisfaction, reduce time and effort, error rates, and minimize many other types of waste, enabling the presentation of custom products to customers. They also reduce human intervention to its minimal necessities, improve ergonomics, and connect valuable cyber-physical objects for seamless collaboration across the value chain.

The mobile payment method using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology platform began to be mentioned in the Vietnamese market around 2015 and will be widely welcomed in 2023 with the appearance of the Apple Pay application, giving customers a convenient payment experience without needing a network connection. In this article, the author uses research methods of synthesis and comparison focusing on clarifying the current status of NFC technology application in mobile payment in the world and Vietnam. From there, the author makes recommendations on legal corridors, incentive policies, scope of application, raising customer awareness of service utilities and solutions to security issues, personal data security and transaction authentication, to facilitate further strong development of this payment method in the Vietnamese market.

Tackling Tomorrow's Challenges With NFC Mobile Payment in Public Transport System

This study delves into Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile payment for Kuala Lumpur's public transit, focusing on public Awareness and attitudes. Through an online survey, 333 completed responses were gathered from Kuala Lumpur residents. Statistical analysis, including Cronbach's Alpha Reliability Test, Spearman's Correlation Coefficient Analysis, Descriptive Analysis, and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis revealed significant positive correlations between Awareness, Attitude, and NFC adoption for public transportation. Results highlight a strong association between Attitude and NFC adoption inclination, indicating widespread Awareness and favorability. These insights are crucial for policymakers and stakeholders implementing NFC technology in Kuala Lumpur's public transport system.

NFCs are a new fad and modern technology that shares embedded and ubiquitous devices with others, various corporations are finding the advantage by the NFC. This research will propose a formulation technique to explore and adapt an approach of developing and validating the NFC which permits to exchange data via technology wireless (NFC) between the parties. This technique will facilitate the feasibility of having e.g., a system to reduce of losing duration time and cost for users, as well as, an agile technique for validating the suggested approach via Attributed Graph Grammar (AGG) tools.

NFC Smartphone-Based Electrochemical Microfluidic Device Integrated with Nanobody Recognition for C-Reactive Protein.

Point-of-care testing (POCT) devices play a crucial role as tools for disease diagnostics, and the integration of biorecognition elements with electronic components into these devices widens their functionalities and facilitates the development of complex quantitative assays. Unfortunately, biosensors that exploit large conventional IgG antibodies to capture relevant biomarkers are often limited in terms of sensitivity, selectivity, and storage stability, considerably restricting the use of POCT in real-world applications. Therefore, we used nanobodies as they are more suitable for fabricating electrochemical biosensors with near-field communication (NFC) technology. Moreover, a flow-through microfluidic device was implemented in this system for the detection of C-reactive protein (CRP), an inflammation biomarker, and a model analyte. The resulting sensors not only have high sensitivity and portability but also retain automated sequential flow properties through capillary transport without the need for an external pump. We also compared the accuracy of CRP quantitative analyses between commercial PalmSens4 and NFC-based potentiostats. Furthermore, the sensor reliability was evaluated using three biological samples (artificial serum, plasma, and whole blood without any pretreatment). This platform will streamline the development of POCT devices by combining operational simplicity, low cost, fast analysis, and portability.

Wearable, battery-free, wireless multiplexed printed sensors for heat stroke prevention with mussel-inspired bio-adhesive membranes

Wearable technologies are becoming pervasive in our society, and their development continues to accelerate the untapped potential of continuous and ubiquitous sensing, coupled with big data analysis and interpretation, has only just begun to unfold. However, existing wearable devices are still bulky (mainly due to batteries and electronics) and have suboptimal skin contact. In this work, we propose a novel approach based on a sensor network produced through inkjet printing of nanofunctional inks onto a semipermeable substrate. This network enables real-time monitoring of critical physiological parameters, including temperature, humidity, and muscle contraction. Remarkably, our system operates under battery-free and wireless near-field communication (NFC) technology for data readout via smartphones. Moreover, two of the three sensors were integrated onto a naturally adhesive bioinspired membrane. This membrane, developed using an eco-friendly, high-throughput process, draws inspiration from the remarkable adhesive properties of mussel-inspired molecules. The resulting ultra-conformable membrane adheres effortlessly to the skin, ensuring reliable and continuous data collection. The urgency of effective monitoring systems cannot be overstated, especially in the context of rising heat stroke incidents attributed to climate change and high-risk occupations. Heat stroke manifests as elevated skin temperature, lack of sweating, and seizures. Swift intervention is crucial to prevent progression to coma or fatality. Therefore, our proposed system holds immense promise for the monitoring of these parameters on the field, benefiting both the general population and high-risk workers, such as firefighters.

Phase-separated porous nanocomposite with ultralow percolation threshold for wireless bioelectronics.

Realizing the full potential of stretchable bioelectronics in wearables, biomedical implants and soft robotics necessitates conductive elastic composites that are intrinsically soft, highly conductive and strain resilient. However, existing composites usually compromise electrical durability and performance due to disrupted conductive paths under strain and rely heavily on a high content of conductive filler. Here we present an in situ phase-separation method that facilitates microscale silver nanowire assembly and creates self-organized percolation networks on pore surfaces. The resultant nanocomposites are highly conductive, strain insensitive and fatigue tolerant, while minimizing filler usage. Their resilience is rooted in multiscale porous polymer matrices that dissipate stress and rigid conductive fillers adapting to strain-induced geometry changes. Notably, the presence of porous microstructures reduces the percolation threshold (Vc = 0.00062) by 48-fold and suppresses electrical degradation even under strains exceeding 600%. Theoretical calculations yield results that are quantitatively consistent with experimental findings. By pairing these nanocomposites with near-field communication technologies, we have demonstrated stretchable wireless power and data transmission solutions that are ideal for both skin-interfaced and implanted bioelectronics. The systems enable battery-free wireless powering and sensing of a range of sweat biomarkers-with less than 10% performance variation even at 50% strain. Ultimately, our strategy offers expansive material options for diverse applications.

This research investigates the application of Hill Cipher, a linear algebra-based encryption technique, to enhance the security of data transmitted via NFC. This research explores the innovative integration of NFC into the attendance input process, which is linked to a website-based attendance system. NFC's adaptability, which was initially prominent in payment cards, has expanded across industries, empowering smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices. This study contributes to the ongoing development of NFC technology, proposing a renewable solution for student attendance systems. With a vision of increased efficiency, this research anticipates increased utilization of time and resources, thereby providing a promising path for the advancement of attendance management. A comprehensive evaluation of the proposed NFC data security solution was conducted through simulations and practical implementations. The research assesses the impact on communication speed, energy consumption, and overall system performance. Results indicate that the integration of Hill Cipher introduces a negligible overhead on communication speed, making it a viable option for real-time NFC applications. Furthermore, the study addresses potential vulnerabilities and threats associated with NFC technology, emphasizing the role of Hill Cipher in mitigating risks such as eavesdropping and unauthorized data interception. The research considers practical implementation challenges and proposes strategies for seamless integration into existing NFC-enabled devices. In conclusion, this research contributes to the ongoing discourse on NFC data security by introducing Hill Cipher as a robust encryption mechanism. The findings underscore the feasibility of implementing this encryption technique without compromising the efficiency of NFC communication. The proposed secure communication protocol holds promise for enhancing the privacy and integrity of data transmitted via NFC, fostering trust in the expanding ecosystem of NFC-enabled applications.

The study aims to assess the effectiveness of NFC technology in improving accuracy, efficiency, and real-time access to attendance information. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, incorporating a pilot study in an educational setting. NFC tags were distributed to participants, allowing for contactless attendance registration. Data was collected through observations, user feedback, and system logs. Additionally, a comparative analysis was conducted between NFC-based attendance tracking and traditional methods. Findings indicate a substantial improvement in accuracy and efficiency with NFC tags compared to traditional methods. Real-time data access provided administrators with up-to-the-minute attendance information, enabling timely interventions and streamlined record-keeping. User feedback highlighted the ease of use and convenience of the NFC-based system.

NFC-enabled photothermal-based microfluidic paper analytical device for glucose detection.

This study introduces the development of a photothermal-based microfluidic paper analytical device (PT-µPAD) integrated with near-field communication (NFC) technology and smartphone readout for enzyme-free glucose quantification in human samples. With the properties of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) both as a nanozyme and as a photothermal substrate, there is no need for costly reagents like enzymes or a readout instrumentation for the selective and sensitive detection of glucose. In PT-µPADs, AuNPs are etched by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) generated from glucose catalysis. Photothermal detection from the plasmonic heating of these AuNPs when illuminated by a 533nm LED light source is achieved by inserting the PT-µPAD sensor into a portable NFC platform suitable for smartphone readout. Temperature variation is directly proportional to the glucose concentration. After optimization, we acquired a linear range between 5.0 and 20.0 µmol L-1 (R2 = 0.9967) and a limit of detection (LOD) of 25.0 nmol L-1 for glucose. Additionally, while our sensor does not utilize any enzyme, it is remarkably selective to glucose with no effects from interferences. Recovery studies in various human control samples indicated a range of 99.73-102.66% with the highest RSD of 3.53%, making it highly accurate and precise. Moreover, our method is more sensitive than other methods relying on conventional µPADs for glucose sensing. By integrating the potential benefits of microfluidics, nanomaterials as nanozymes, and NFC technology for wireless readout, our sensor demonstrates great promise as an accessible, affordable, and shelf-stable device for glucose quantification. Moreover, this concept can be extended to detect other molecules of interest as a point-of-care (POC) diagnostics device.

Smartphone-enabled 3D origami-fluidic paper-based electrochemical detection of myeloperoxidase activity for assessing wound infection

Early diagnosis of wound infections that aid in the assessment of the stage of wound infection is gaining interest for development of a new biomarker. In present research, a simple and portable 3D origami-fluidic paper-based electrochemical sensor is proposed for the detection of myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity in wound exudate samples. The flow can be manipulated by an origami pattern of the paper allowing the electrochemical reaction to occur on the electrode surface. Glucose oxidase (GOx) was used for producing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and MPO antibodies were immobilized to capture the MPO to enhance the specificity. Prussian blue/MXene composite modified on the electrode act as a nanozyme for catalyzing H2O2. Then, data is wirelessly transferred to a smartphone using near-field communication (NFC) technology. Under the optimal conditions, our proposed device can detect MPO activity in ranges 0.5–5 U/ml (R2 =0.9697), demonstrating a strong correlation with a colorimetric MPO activity kit when tested with real wound fluid samples (n = 6, R2 = 0.9198). Notably, our method can differentiate between non-infected and infected wounds (p-value < 0.05) by analyzing MPO activity extracted from used wound-dressing gauzes (n = 10). Therefore, our device offers a rapid portable device for MPO activity that is promising for resource-limited settings.

The use of IoT-based wearable devices to ensure secure lightweight payments in FinTech applications

Daily digital payments in Financial Technology (FinTech) are growing exponentially. A huge demand is for developing secure, lightweight cryptography protocols for wearable IoT-based devices. The devices hold the consumer information and transit functions in a secure environment to provide authentication and confidentiality using contactless Near-Field Communication (NFC) or Bluetooth technologies. On the other hand, Security breaches have been observed in various dimensions, especially in wearable payment technologies. In this paper, we developed a threat model in the proposed framework and how to mitigate these attacks. This study accepts the three-authentication factor, as biometrics is one of the user’s most vital authentication mechanisms. The scheme uses an “Elliptic Curve Integrated Encryption Scheme (ECIES)”, “Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA)” and “Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)” to encrypt the messages between the entities to ensure higher security. The security analysis of the proposed scheme is demonstrated through the Real-or-Random oracle model (RoR) and Scyther’s widely accepted model-checking tools. Finally, we present a comparative summary based on security features, communication cost, and computation overhead of existing methods, specifying that the proposed framework is secure and efficient for all kinds of remote and proximity payments, such as mini, macro, and micro-payments, using wearable devices.

UNIVERSAL ANDROID-BASED ATTENDANCE APPLICATION USING THE GEOFENCE METHOD

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Generally, companies usually apply attendance procedures using the fingerprint attendance machine every employee in the office without exception. A common problem that happens is in the marketing of employees who are more than once out of office in 1 day forget to do a presence that can affect salary reduction sanctions. As a solution to the problem, there should bepresence applications using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and utilizing NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. By using this application, marketing personnel no longer need to perform a presence with fingerprints on the presence machine, but only need to carry a smartphone device equipped with GPS. The app works by recording employee attendance at the office location as an office entry status and recording the status outside of the office when the Marketing force leaves the office. In this system also implements the Geofence method as an indication of the radius in which the user can perform the attendance process&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

Examining the influence of trust and perceived risk on customers intention to use NFC mobile payment system

The current study investigates how perceived risks and trust factors affect customers' intentions to use mobile payment applications that utilize near-field communication (NFC) technology. The author created a conceptual model that includes five elements: intention to use, perceived risk, process-based trust, characteristics-based trust, and institution-based trust. Data was gathered through an online survey of 469 participants and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling techniques. The results indicate that only three of the four tested constructs significantly impact customers' decisions to use NFC mobile payments: perceived risk, process-based trust, and characteristics-based trust. Additionally, the study found that age and gender do not play a significant role in influencing the model constructs; therefore, the findings of current research highlight how perceived risk and trust have a pivotal role of in shaping customers' intention to use NFC as a mobile payment and how trust can substantially mitigate customers' perceived risk. Hence, this knowledge can aid in developing effective strategies for promoting mobile payment adoption among consumers.

Users' Perception of NFC Technology in Digital Payment Transactions in Indonesia

Near Field Communication (NFC) technology is growing and starting to be used on mobile devices such as smartphones. However, there are still differences in the factors of user perception and acceptance of the use of the NFC system in previous studies. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of factors such as Actual System Use, Attitudes Toward Use, Behavioral Intentions, Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Safety, Perceived Benefits, and Subjective Norms on user acceptance of the NFC system on smartphone users. in Indonesia. In this study, a quantitative approach was used with the online survey method which was conducted on 150 respondents who use smartphones in Indonesia. Respondents taken are smartphone users who have used NFC technology. The collected data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method. The results of the study show that the user's perception of the ease of use and the benefits and safety of using the NFC system has a significant influence on the user's acceptance of using it. However, the subject norm for NFC technology does not have a significant effect on user acceptance. The implication of this research is the importance of paying attention to the factors that influence user perceptions in developing and promoting the use of the NFC system among smartphone users in Indonesia.
