Attraction Self-commentary System Based on NFC Technology

The traditional electronic devices of tourist attractions commentary system can be divided into fixed and dedicated handheld commentary. But these commentary equipment should be provided by tourist attractions or be rent by visitors. With some disadvantages of high cost, it is difficult to manage and is unable to be used on a large scale in practical application. To solve this problem, an attraction self-commentary system based on NFC was proposed in this paper. In management system of attractions commentary, NFC (Near Field Communication) devices are used to achieve the daily management of attractions. The software with abilities to read labels of attractions and play back information was achieved based on Android operating system. It was designed for mobile phones with NFC function to achieve self-commentary of attractions. The implementation of this system not only conquers the shortcomings of existing products, but also has broad application prospects.

Pay-Cloak: A Biometric Back Cover for Smartphones

Continuous improvements in technology and quality of life have had a strong impact on the development of payment techniques. With the evolution of near-field communication (NFC) technology, contactless payment has received recent attention because of its short-range, conducive nature. As mobile computing made great leaps due to enormous development in the smartphone platform, companies like Google, Samsung, and Apple embedded NFC in smartphones to provide on-the-go payment capabilities, eliminating the need for payment cards. But due to interoperability and high cost, these technologies are not available to everyone.

A crop trait information acquisition system with multitag-based identification technologies for breeding precision management

This paper aims to establish a crop trait information acquisition system by combining barcode and radio frequency-based electronic identification (RFID) and near-field communication (NFC) technology applications. The system was devised to ensure (a) correct identification of each crop material and plot, (b) quick query and positioning for information collection, (c) correct combination of crop phenotypic data and images, and (d) reliable recording of periodic crop trait data with dependable transmission to the main server. This system, with multitag-based identification technology, was developed on an Android platform using the Java language. A type of RFID/NFC tag with a high-frequency chip was applied in the core, and a quick response (QR) code was used on the surface for material identification. A smartphone with NFC function can be used as an RFID reader, and its built-in camera can be used to decode QR codes. The system was used in some seed industries’ commercial breeding and in national crop variety regional trial, with its functions including reading/writing of RFID/NFC tags, decoding QR codes, acquiring crop trait information, creating field maps, and uploading data. This system provided a low-cost and highly efficient solution for crop trait information collection.

NFC Based Smart Biosensor – An Introduction to Battery-less Enzymatic Amperometric Glucose Sensor Based on NFC Technology

Biosensors are widely used as analytical devices for determination of medically relevant parameters, e.g. glucose, lactate and histamine. The possibility of easily available and low-cost sensors is a central need in mobile diagnostics and personal health monitoring. Therefore, biosensors combined with near field communication (NFC) technology enable simple and smart sensor solutions for electrical and non-electrical parameter measurements.

WIFI Subscription Payment System Using NFC (Near Field Communication)

The high use of the internet makes the availability of hotspots a demand for all groups of Indonesian people. The use of computer networks using wifi is widely available in various places, for example in offices, schools, cafes, etc. A person must first login to the wifi network in order to access the internet, the login process is carried out by inputting a username and password, in this process the accuracy of user reading is very necessary, it is not uncommon for users to enter the username and password incorrectly which consists of a fairly long row of numbers and must re-enter it username and password. Therefore, it is necessary to build a support system, namely a wifi subscription payment system using NFC technology on an Android-based smartphone. This NFC technology can help during the login process to a wifi network. Wifi users no longer need to enter a long user name and password to log in, besides that NFC technology is a subscription identity card that can be used anywhere and easy to carry anywhere. This system also makes it easier for wifi corner business owners, because this system performs AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) functions for users who want to access an internet network. After making the application, testing is carried out by measuring the reading distance of the NFC reader on the smartphone to the NFC tag.

Development and evaluation of android-based library stocktaking application using NFC Technology: a case study in Bina Nusantara University

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop and evaluate a mobile application to facilitate stocktaking in libraries implementing radio frequency identification. The case of Bina Nusantara University’s library is used in this study. In this kind of library, near field communication (NFC) tags are placed in the book for getting book information, borrowing or returning and theft prevention, so the application. Stocktaking is an important process to be performed periodically to monitor and maintain the quality of collections and to make these collections easily accessible for library users. However, stocktaking in libraries takes too much effort and needs to be more efficient. Design/methodology/approach The design of the mobile application using entity relationship diagram (ERD) includes a diagram and flowchart. An evaluation is done by comparing the stocktaking effort of the latest semester and the previous semester. In the latest semester, the stocktaking is done by a hybrid of the proposed mobile application and a legacy desktop application, whereas the stocktaking of the previous semester is done only using the legacy desktop application. Findings Evaluation of the usage of this mobile stocktaking application is 43 per cent more efficient compared to an older desktop application. Originality/value The authors report the development of Android-based mobile stocktaking application by using Android’s NFC feature and evaluate it in a real environment.

Evaluation of the Effectiveness of NFC-based Anti-Theft Security System for Motorbike

This paper proposes a method for the immobilization of motorbike brakes in conjunction with near-field communication (NFC) technology in order to meet the increasing demand for security and convenience of motorbike drivers. The immobilizer proposed in this paper improves previous detachable immobilizers based on mechanical locks in order to provide a fundamental solution to theft prevention. By adopting NFC, the system offers user authentication and personalization services in a secure manner. The author presents the principle of operation of the proposed method, and configuration of the immobilization device based on secure authentication. In this paper, a solenoid valve design is proposed to remotely perform lock/unlock operation with the aid of the motorbike immobilizer and information security system. The author presents the NFC secure authentication method for unlocking the immobilizer upon identifying the mobile terminal of the user, the method of automatic or manual control of the brake fluid pressure of a stopped motorbike, and the experimental mechanical prototyping results.

Adoption of Near Field Communication (NFC) for Mobile Payments in the UAE

Near Field Communication (NFC) is one of the emerging technologies that enables mobile devices to wirelessly exchange data at short ranges. NFC technology has great potential, making it convenient to process payments through mobile phones. The aim of this research is to explore the challenges and factors which influence the adoption of the NFC payment system by merchants and retailers in the UAE. This paper presents the results of semi-structured interviews conducted amongst the UAE merchants and retailers. The analysis of data revealed a lack of knowledge, awareness and experience, from both merchants and retailers, about the NFC mobile payment system. Security, promptness and business sustainability were found to be important factors for merchants to contemplate before adopting the new technology. Furthermore, technology infrastructure, switching cost, availability and ecosystem complexity impeded the spreading of NFC mobile payment technology in the UAE market.

SISTEM ABSENSI DOSEN MENGGUNAKAN NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATION (NFC) TECHNOLOGY

NFC is a wireless technology that has a high frequency (13.56MHz), which has a data transfer rate of 424 Kbits / second with a short distance or close range. This tool can be used to exchange data with a distance of about 10 cm. NFC technology is a combination of smartcard and smartcard reader embedded in the device, the device is generally a mobile device like a cell phone. The purpose of the design of this system is to build attendance system attendance following absence management faculty lecturer, as well as introducing alternative wireless technologies such as Near Field Communication (NFC), contactless transactions that are made. Software development methods used include three main parts, namely the method of analysis, design and literature. The method of analysis involves collecting data using samples, learning in the existing system, and analysis of the results of the interview devoted to the parties concerned. The design method using the approach of the Unified Modelling Language (UML). The result is a design lecturer attendance system used at the time lecturer teaching ( check-in ) and after teaching ( check-ou t). Technological Diffusion of Near Field Communication (NFC)

Near Field Communication (NFC) is increasingly being employed in modern consumer devices and until now it has been used for mobile payments. However, on further investigation there are other areas where NFC has a key role. Recent developments in Medical and ticketing based NFC applications show promise for being the so called “Catalyst” for NFC's integration. The objective of this research was to determine if mobile payments will be the catalyst for a more widespread integration of NFC into society and how NFC technology will impact on everyday life. Research Methods comprised questionnaire and interviews to gain further insight into the current standing of NFC. The findings indicated that NFC will not mature enough to be classified as viral by 2016, especially with contactless payments as no decisions seem to have been made for any progression. It is that most likely outcome that NFC will mature enough at the very latest in 2018, with further development in the years to come for unique serialisation and the internet of things. Managerial implications for this research extend to the medical sector where large gains can be made in better patient care and remote diagnostics leading to a more efficient service.

Mutual Authentication Scheme Based on Lattice for NFC-PCM Payment Service Environment

In recent years, the incorporation of NFC (Near Field Communication) technology into mobile devices has led to changes in payment system environments. Currently, the NFC mobile payment service is leading the mobile payment market. In particular, most electronic payment services, such as those used by Google Inc. and Apple Inc., are adopting payment methods based on NFC to replace credit cards. In addition, related groups from the Republic of Korea have enhanced safety in communication by using standard techniques for activating NFC services. However, various security threats are still present in electronic payment methods that use NFC. In this paper, we propose a mutual authentication scheme based on a lattice for conditional anonymity in NFC-PCM (Near Field Communication-Passive Communication Mode) payment services environments.

Ultratrace Detection of Toxic Chemicals: Triggered Disassembly of Supramolecular Nanotube Wrappers.

Chemical sensors offer opportunities for improving personal security, safety, and health. To enable broad adoption of chemical sensors requires performance and cost advantages that are best realized from innovations in the design of the sensing (transduction) materials. Ideal materials are sensitive and selective to specific chemicals or chemical classes and provide a signal that is readily interfaced with portable electronic devices. Herein we report that wrapping single walled carbon nanotubes with metallo-supramolecular polymers creates sensory devices with a dosimetric (time- and concentration-integrated) increase in electrical conductivity that is triggered by electrophilic chemical substances such as diethylchlorophosphate, a nerve agent simulant. The mechanism of this process involves the disassembly of the supramolecular polymer, and we demonstrate its utility in a wireless inductively powered sensing system based on near-field communication technology. Specifically, the dosimeters can be powered and read wirelessly with conventional smartphones to create sensors with ultratrace detection limits.

This article discusses the possibility of the application of the NFC technology as a system of selling tickets in public transport. The NFC (Near Field Communication) technology is a wireless and contactless technology of transmission of radio data over short distances (max. 5 cm).

Enhancing information interaction as a means for situation awareness maintenance in mobile field work

Maintenance of situation awareness is of critical importance for the safe and productive execution of mobile field work. However, there is scarcity of research considering maintenance of situation awareness in mobile field work settings. The case study analyses information interaction as a means to maintain situation awareness. The empirical data for the study were collected from security service personnel participating in a pilot of guarding service based on NFC (near field communication) technology. NFC enables ubiquitous and location- and context-aware computing. Interviews, on-site observation and a questionnaire were conducted to define situation awareness requirements and to assess both current user experiences and future scenarios of NFC-based information support for security service work. Results of the study show that information interaction challenges were related to non-value-adding information activities when trying maintain situation awareness. Challenges were related to disturbances in information flow between clients, security service back office and field. It was found that maintaining situation awareness in circuit guarding was more challenging than in local guarding. Future NFC functionalities providing information support in particular for maintenance of short-term situation awareness were assessed as promising.

Typical presentation to evaluate NFC technology in electronic mobile payments

In recent years, electronic micro payments by cell phones have been possible. Some activities have been done in this field as well. Mobile near field communication (NFC) technology, which is a standard mobile method for connecting electronic devices at near distances, has grabbed a lot of attention in order to pay mobile micro payments and electronic payment services by financial institutions, payment service companies, SIM cards manufacturers and operators. The beneficiary organizations need to meet some requirements such as management preparation. This paper aims to detect different NFC technology uses and study and rank the main factors of success in implementation of this technology in organization by applying analytic hierarchy process. The humanitarian specialists and environmental and technological experts should be considered in order to use NFC technology in mobile payments. Among 81 sub-criteria, security and privacy are the most important factors for implementing NFC technology successfully.

NFC 보안인증과 솔레노이드 밸브를 이용한 이륜차 이동제한장치 성능평가

본 논문은 이륜차의 근원적인 도난방지를 위한 기존의 탈착방식의 기구적 열쇄방식을 개선하고 NFC(Near Field Communication) 접목하여 사용자 인증 및 개인화 서비스를 위한 이륜차 이동제한 및 정보 보안 시스템 개발 연구로서 모터사이클 운전자 편의성 및 보안성 요구 증대에 따른 근거리 무선통신 기술을 융합한 브레이크 장치의 이동제한 방법을 제시하였다. 제안 방법의 기본적인 원리 및 보안인증에 따른 이동장치의 구성 및 동작원리 등을 제시하였다. 본 연구에서는 모터사이클용 이동제한 및 정보 보안 시스템의 연동으로 원격에서 락/언락 기능을 수행하기 위한 솔레노이드 밸브 장착방법을 설계하였다. 사용자 휴대단말기의 인증으로 이동제한장치 해제를 위한 NFC 보안인증 방법을 설명하고 정지 상태에 자동 또는 수동으로 모터사이클 브레이크 유압흐름 제어하는 방법과 실험단계의 기구적 제작 결과를 제시하였다. This paper proposes a method for the immobilization of motorbike brakes in conjunction with near-field communication (NFC) technology in order to meet the increasing demand for security and convenience of motorbike drivers. We thought about the concept of wireless key, NFC security devices and automatic solenoid valve for setting the lock and unlock module. This paper propose the design and development of an innovative anti-theft alarm system for motorcycles using NFC smart devices based on RFID system, the basis of IoT and AES(advanced encryption standard) encryption Algorithm. The design concept is based on NFC communication strategy between the vehicle and owner. To do this concept, we designed motorcycle smart key system with general-purpose NFC system and the automatic solenoid valve for setting the lock and unlock module. First, we designed control unit and NFC card reader for motorcycle smart key system. Then we propose an AES encryption algorithm and prove that the motorcycle key system is controllable by showing the result of implementing and testing, after installing.

Seamless Guidance System Combining GPS, BLE Beacon, and NFC Technologies

Users rely increasingly on Location-Based Services (LBS) and automated navigation/guidance systems nowadays. However, while such services are easily implemented in outdoor environments using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, a requirement still exists for accurate localization and guidance schemes in indoor settings. Accordingly, the present study proposes a system based on GPS, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons, and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Through establishing graphic information and the design of algorithm, this study develops a guidance system for indoors and outdoors on smart phones, wishing to give user perfect smart life through this system. The proposed system is implemented on a smart phone and evaluated on a student campus environment. The experimental results confirm the ability of the proposed app to switch automatically from an outdoor mode to an indoor mode and to guide the user to requested target destination via the shortest possible route.

NFC threats and attacks: Applying a low cost algorithm for secure channel using Twofish

Near Field Communication (NFC) is a new technology which can provide communication between mobile devices in short range. Data would be communicate in three modes: (1) between two mobile systems (MS), (2) MS2 NFC tags (3) reader2MS. One of the must public application in this technology is micropayment system, so by developing NFC technology it would be used in E-commerce and e-everything. In combination of E-Commerce and NFC technology MS would be used as smart card. It is clear that by developing one technology we should consider security and protection system for that. Therefore NFC security and protecting MS from attacks and eavesdropping is so important and critical. In this article at the first we will briefly review about this technology and the architecture, in the next step we will explain about NFC threats therefore we can analyze the attack. After that we will describe some scenarios for protecting against the NFC threats. Then we will explain NFC security standards. In this part we will mention to SSH and SCH, we will show that in secure channel we should use a symmetric algorithm. In this standard AES is has been recommended but we will show that two fish algorithm is more complex than in AES on the other hand we will simulate our proposed approach and we will show that the power consumption and processing time are decreased.

A personal local area information interaction system based on NFC and Bluetooth technology

Taking attendance is a regular activity in the society. Required class attendance is common in Chinese colleges and universities. In most of the traditional classroom, taking attendance may consume much time and some students may cheat by pretending to be their classmates, which makes the results unbelievable. Moreover, the interaction mode between the teacher and students is single and cannot support fast data interaction. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an information interaction system, which cannot only speed up the process of taking attendance but also extend the information exchange mode. Firstly, we propose the near field communication (NFC)-based method to take attendance, which utilises the rapid information exchange characteristic of NFC in the mobile phone. Furthermore, an ad hoc scheme is introduced, based on which some students may be selected as the relay which can greatly accelerate the attendance taking process. Moreover, a lazy unbinding mechanism is proposed to prevent the students from taking attendance for others. Finally, based on Bluetooth technology the system realises file transfer, which extends the information exchange mode. Real experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed system.

Adoption of near field communication in S-Library application for information science

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to first review the implementation of automatic identification and data capture) technologies in library/information science, focusing on barcode technology, radio frequency identification (RFID) and near field communication (NFC). This paper then presents S-Library, a new android-based application, to enable users to perform a wide range of information science-related transactions, such as borrowing, searching, returning and viewing transaction records. Design/methodology/approach – This paper presents the design process and the database and software components. For analysis, the authors used application testing, and also usability testing, with a questionnaire distributed to 343 users. Findings – The implementation of NFC technology means that S-Library has a number of technical advantages over other approaches. It was also shown with user acceptance testing that there was a high degree of user satisfaction with S-Library. Research limitations/implications – Although the findings combine technical assessment and usability testing and are extremely positive, further user evaluation could be performed. In addition, S-Library does not currently read existing RFID tags, which would improve the application further. Practical implications – The system proposed here shows that S-Library is a feasible approach taken to improve the library transaction experience and that it can replace and improve upon older technologies. Originality/value – This paper provides a first successful demonstration of a functioning and tested android and NFC-based library transaction system and shows that this approach generates a high degree of user reliability.
