DETECTION OF LPG VEHICLES IN RISKY AREAS WITH COMPUTER VISION TECHNIQUES

Vehicle use is becoming more widespread day by day due to the world population growth. Within the scope of intelligent transportation systems, the information technologies sector and the transportation sector work in an integrated manner to solve the problems caused by the increasing number of vehicles. Data obtained with sensors and cameras are analyzed with artificial intelligence-based information technologies and used in autonomous vehicles, security, traffic management, navigation and passenger information systems. Computer vision enables machines to extract meaningful patterns and relationships from images by combining image processing and deep learning technologies. Computer vision techniques are applied in many fields such as tourism, health, industry, defense, transportation, service, e-commerce, etc. The applications developed provide solutions to various challenges in the transportation sector. For vehicles using Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) fuel, the gases in LPG tanks are flammable and pose a potential explosion hazard, especially in certain areas in cities. Entry of LPG vehicles is prohibited in institutions and organizations such as hospitals, shopping malls, hotels that have indoor parking services. The control method of the ban is carried out by assigning a personnel and checking the vehicle trunks. In this study, LPG fueled vehicles were automatically detected using computer vision techniques. Vehicle image data captured by mobile cameras in different provinces in Turkey were trained and compared with four different deep learning models. As a result of training and performance tests on the models, the YOLOv8 model was more effective than the other models with an accuracy of 0.994 mAP and a speed of 11.6 ms. It has been shown to be a stable model in terms of real-time monitoring in real life. It is envisaged that the developed system can contribute to the applications of computer vision techniques as well as benefit the national economy, public life safety and environmental protection.

Conceptual scheme of intelligent vessel traffic control system with the human factor included

The subject of the research is the development of technologies for automated and automatic ship traffic control systems, which is of great importance in modern shipping conditions. At the same time, special attention is paid to intelligent control systems based on artificial intelligence methods, such as artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic, machine learning, evolutionary computing and genetic algorithms. As a result, integrated information navigation systems, which provide decision-making on all aspects of navigation tasks, primarily where reception, processing, storage and transmission of navigation information is required, are being created and widely used in practice. However, in such developments, due importance is not given to the human factor, namely, it is often not taken into account that the control system of a moving object is a man-machine and consists of a regulator, which includes a human operator (navigator). The inclusion of the navigator in the vessel control link leads to the need to simultaneously take into account the human factor and the characteristics of the vessel controllability, i. e. human and machine factors in their unity. In connection with the development of artificial intelligence, the concept of “human-machine symbiosis” is becoming increasingly relevant in the study of human-machine systems. The problem is that there is still no single point of view on this issue due to the lack of reasonable methods for taking into account the human factor in the process of controlling the movement of moving objects. The results of the theoretical research on the formalization of some aspects of human mental activity and their implementation in the conceptual scheme of an intelligent vessel control system are reflected in the paper. The results obtained may be of interest to specialists in vessel traffic control automation, artificial intelligence, the creation of intelligent control systems and navigation safety.

РОЗРОБКА ІНТЕЛЕКТУАЛЬНОЇ СИСТЕМИ НАВІГАЦІЇ ТА ПРОСТОРОВОЇ ОРІЄНТАЦІЇ ДЛЯ ЛЮДЕЙ З ВАДАМИ ЗОРУ

A prototype of an information and communication navigation and spatial orientation system for people with visual impairments has been developed based on a mobile device. The prototype has several advantages, including portability, convenience, and ease of use. This is achieved through a harmonious combination of optimized software modules that provide data collection, navigation, intelligent analytics, and image processing within a single smartphone. To implement the prototype, stages of development of the information and communication system were previously conducted, subject area analysis was carried out, software and hardware options were researched, and an architecture was designed based on an algorithm for asynchronous processing of a large stream of data. The result of the work is a verified basic prototype of the system, ready for use in testing conditions and data collection for further research.

A New Automobile Product Development Design Model: Using a Dual Corporate Engineering Strategy

This study describes a “New Automobile Product Development Design Model” (NA-PDDM) using a “Dual Corporate Engineering Strategy” for the innovation of automobile product engineering fundamental. Specifically, NA-PDDM contains both of the “Exterior design engineering strategy” and “Driving performance design engineering strategy” by using “Customer Science Principle” (CSP). Concretely, the foundation of NA-PDDM consists of the “Automobile Exterior Design Model with 3 Core Methods” (AEDM-3CM), “Automobile Optimal Product Development Design Model” (AOP-DDM) and “CSP-Customer Information Analysis and Navigation System” (CSP-CIANS). The validity of NA-PPMM is then verified through the actual applications to automobile product development design in Toyota and others.

Construction of an Intelligent Analysis Model for Website Information Based on Big Data and Cloud Computing Technology

Based on big data and cloud computing technology, the development process of this system includes hardware cluster deployment of the delivery system, optimization of website delivery strategy, and development of the delivery management background system. The main functions in the following aspects are realized: first, we built the website back-end delivery subsystem and data collection and analysis subsystem to realize the control of website delivery and data collection; second, we designed and developed a process management subsystem for booking, management, and delivery of website resources and developed the contract management and order management subsystems to realize the accurate placement of user portraits on the website; then, the placement data monitoring and effect feedback subsystems, and the data inventory subsystem of the website system were designed and developed. Finally, based on the research of Android and based on the Eclipse platform, this article has completed the construction of the Android 4.0.3 version environment, successfully used the Java development language to develop a website information intelligent analysis and navigation system, and analyzed the various functional modules of the entire system. Experimental results show that the system not only realizes ordinary route and site query functions but also combines map API, integrates big data and cloud computing technology, and realizes congestion avoidance query, time optimal query, population heat map, and real-time viewing. The nearby use of this software’s personnel density distribution and other functions provides great convenience for personal travel, which can facilitate the real-time planning of travel plans, and has great practical and practical significance. Through the different levels of testing of various subsystems, the website delivery system meets the functional and nonfunctional requirements proposed by the network and on this basis realizes the use of group wisdom based on Pearson correlation coefficient, Cosine similarity, and Tanimoto coefficient for collaborative filtering website recommendation algorithm.

Cascaded Residual Attention Enhanced Road Extraction from Remote Sensing Images

Efficient and accurate road extraction from remote sensing imagery is important for applications related to navigation and Geographic Information System updating. Existing data-driven methods based on semantic segmentation recognize roads from images pixel by pixel, which generally uses only local spatial information and causes issues of discontinuous extraction and jagged boundary recognition. To address these problems, we propose a cascaded attention-enhanced architecture to extract boundary-refined roads from remote sensing images. Our proposed architecture uses spatial attention residual blocks on multi-scale features to capture long-distance relations and introduce channel attention layers to optimize the multi-scale features fusion. Furthermore, a lightweight encoder-decoder network is connected to adaptively optimize the boundaries of the extracted roads. Our experiments showed that the proposed method outperformed existing methods and achieved state-of-the-art results on the Massachusetts dataset. In addition, our method achieved competitive results on more recent benchmark datasets, e.g., the DeepGlobe and the Huawei Cloud road extraction challenge.

Universal design – Bluetooth Low Energy-based navigation information systems for people with disabilities

The Universal Design aims to improve the functionality and accessibility of urbanized areas for all users, regardless of their physical, perceptual, or intellectual capability. This task is also a priority for the Polish government, however legislations do not provide clear solutions for supporting people with perceptual limitations. Contemporary technologies can support the spatial orientation of people with disabilities, allowing them to get around independently and safely. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, unlike to the global positioning system (GPS), allows accurate indoor location and navigation. The purpose of this article is to discuss and benchmark two BLE-based navigation and information systems: The GuideBeacon supported by the IBeaconMap software and Totupoint. The result is a summary of the key functionality and limitations of both solutions and an indication of the prospects for further development.

Results of the study of information competence formation of future specialists in navigation and ship handling

The article presents the results of experimental testing of pedagogical conditions for forming information competence of future specialists in navigation and ship handling. While teaching the disciplines «Ocean Routes of the World», «Navigation Bridge Resource Management», «Actions in Accidents, Search and Rescue at Sea», «Navigation Information Systems» it is suggested to use interactive methods to form the cadets’ ability to generalize, analyze and use information during professional interaction, develop the ability to spread information about vessel handling, workload management, to share their experience in navigation with other people, make requests, give suggestions on solving pressing problems. To develop cadets' skills in information support of navigation information systems, it is proposed to use electronic educational resources, including educational, information, scientific, reference materials presented in electronic form or stored in computer networks. The importance of modern technologies, including information resources of the Internet, such as blogs, web quests, blog quests, as well as simulation technologies with augmented and virtual reality has been highlighted.

New method for predicting long-term travel time of commercial vehicles to improve policy-making processes

Abstract Long-term travel time prediction, ahead of making a trip, is vital from the planning perspective of delivery freight, timetable design, vehicle/crew scheduling and further activities. The better the prediction is, the higher the reliability of service that can be offered. This study presents a discrete and continuous combined analysis for attaining improved long-term travel time prediction (LTTP) of commercial vehicles. One main problem of LTTP is that the speed factors are unknown ahead of trips. In light of this, the nonnegative tensor factorization and completion with neural weighted initialization is proposed to extract the potential speed patterns among multiple discrete factors and to complete the sparse tensors. The Gaussian mixture regression is adopted for handling the continuous factors. The proposed methodology with a combined discrete and continuous analysis is able to effectively integrate multiple factors into the computation, including vehicle type, road type, days, time period, weather conditions, driver differences and travel distance. The methodology is able to reduce the long-term travel time prediction error between 14% and 43% compared with the traditional average speed method and other baseline methods, which suggests its effectiveness. It can strategically assist policy-making processes of stakeholders on investment, insurance, planning and management, and can help tactically in predicting long-term travel time ahead of the scheduled trips to improve the reliability of the schedules. Furthermore, operationally, it can also be used to enrich current navigation information systems by separately predicting the commercial vehicles’ travel time based on multiple factors.

High-Precision Positioning Method of Coal Shearer in the Underground Environment Based on Rail Kinematics Model

The high-precision positioning of the shearer is the key technology to realize the automation of longwall mining. Since mine is a Global Position System (GPS)-denied environment, highly autonomous Inertial Navigation System (INS)/odometer integrated navigation has been widely used. At present, the shearer positioning method based on INS/odometer has been challenging to meet the requirements of long-time and high-precision mining. Aiming at the high-precision navigation in the complex mining environment, this paper constructs a comprehensive rail kinematics model of the shearer that does not rely on external sensors. By analyzing the kinematic characteristics of the shearer and the scraper conveyor during the longwall mining process, a method of information fusion and navigation system fault diagnosis based on the assistance of the shearer rail kinematics model was proposed. According to the working principle of the shearer rails and hydraulic supports, the characteristics of the trajectory deviation caused by the sensor fault of the hydraulic support are analyzed. Combined with the engineering requirements of shearer mining, the model fault identification was carried out by the fading probability ratio detection algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm effectively improves the positioning of shearer accuracy in multiple cutting cycles. At the same time, it avoids the influence of the rail deviation caused by the rail kinematics model fault on the positioning of the shearer.

The article highlights the essence and structure of the concept of "information competence of future specialists in navigation and ship handling". It is proved that information competence of a specialist in navigation and ship handling involves the ability to work with large volumes of information to solve complex problems of professional activity and is an important factor in the success of professional activity. Taking into account the scientific works on the formation of information competence and peculiarities of the professional activity of a specialist in navigation and ship handling their information competence can be defined as an integrative personal quality, encompassing motivation for information activity, conscious attitude and interest in navigational information, knowledge of the types of information activities of a navigator, assignment and composition of the navigation information system, the ability to search for necessary information, understand information flows and communications, make optimal use of all navigational data, to carry out information and analytical processing of information relating to ship handling systems, navigation information resources and information security systems. The components of information competence of a specialist in navigation and ship handling service are motivational-personal, information-cognitive and activity-operational. Motivational and personal component concerns motivation to information activity, conscious attitude and interest in navigation information, readiness to work with different types of navigation information and to constantly improve the level of information competence. The information-cognitive component of information competence of a navigation and ship handling specialist covers the knowledge of types of information activities of a navigator, assignment and composition of navigation information system, formalized methods of analytical-synthetic information processing, peculiarities of various objects analysis, work with electronic format of information representation, information on methods and algorithms of electronic databases and data banks creation, distribution and acquisition of information in a group. The activity-operational component of information competence of future navigation and ship handling specialists concerns the most important abilities and skills of working with information, i.e. the ability of a navigator to perform information-analytical processing of information related to ship handling systems, management of navigation information resources, information security systems. THE CHOICE OF SIGNALS FOR HYDROACOUSTIC NAVIGATION SYSTEM OF TRANSFORMATION UNDERWATER APPARATUS TO DOCKING MODULE

The proposed work is the first part of the overall work on the development of the structure of the hydroacoustic navigation system (HNST) for bringing the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) to the docking module (DM). The second (final) part will be published in the next issue of the journal. The purpose of this work is to select signals for building HNST providing reduction in a near zone at the distances not exceeding 300 m, an AUV and its docking with the carrier is considered. Mutual definition of a distance and angular position DM of the carrier and AUV relative to each other is carried out for this purpose. Determination of mutual angular coordinates can be carried out with use of HNST with short and ultra-short base. HNST with short base is preferable for realization from the point of view of simplicity. However, its installation on the AUV can be impossible because of rather small sizes of the device, and on AUV should be installed HNST with ultra-short base. HNST with short base can be established on the docking module. Since there are no reasons to assume the high speed of change of the phase characteristic of the developed high-frequency channel of transformation therefore the interval of stationarity of the phase characteristic should be significantly more than duration of a symbol at a speed of transfer of 4 kBit/s. Therefore, it is advisable to exchange measurement data between AUV and DM in the composition of HNST by relative phase modulation (DPSM). Reception of signals is performed by a suboptimal incoherent receiver on which entrance deep restriction of an entrance signal is carried out. The use of deep signal limitation at the receiver input allows to exclude operation of automatic control of strengthening at a stage of entry into communication, as a result, it is possible to reduce the duration of communication sessions. In the combined information navigation system, it is expedient: to apply as navigation signals of data exchanged between AUV and DM based on the results of mutual measurement of navigation parameters; to carry out data exchange between AUV and DM by method DPSM with a speed V = 4 kBit/s; to carry out transfer of the block of data with application of the correcting block cyclic code ; to apply to reception of a block of data diversity reception in combination with majority decoding characters, and then correct errors in the data block with the help of code, and to accompany the issuance of data to the user sign detection code errors in the block.

Development of Clinical Information Navigation System Based on 3D Human Model

A clinical information navigation system based on 3D human body model is designed. The system extracts the key information of diagnosis and treatment of patients by searching the historical medical records, and stores the focus information in a predefined structured patient instance. In addition, the rule mapping is established between the patient instance and the three-dimensional human body model, the focus information is visualized on the three-dimensional human body model, and the trend curve can be drawn according to the change of the focus, meanwhile, the key diagnosis and treatment information and the original report reference function are provided. The system can support the analysis, storage and visualization of various types of reports, improve the efficiency of doctors' retrieval of patient information, and reduce the treatment time.

Crowdsensing-Based Gamification for Collective Assistance for Post-Era of Coronavirus Epidemic in Community Living

Crowdsensing exploits the sensing abilities offered by smart phones and users' mobility. Users can mutually help each other as a community with the aid of crowdsensing. The potential of crowdsensing has yet to be fully realized for improving public health. A protocol based on gamification to encourage data sharing and mutual assistance is proposed. The game is called “Lemmings,” which stands for location-based mutual and mobile information navigation system; it is based on a classical video game where a group of creatures have to work and win through the puzzle game together. This game includes an asynchronized messaging system where a player may proactively seek for answers or advice by depositing a question on the messaging server. The server will automatically disseminate the question, which is related to a specific location, to a group of users who are either within the proximity currently or have just recently been there. The users/players are encouraged to help each other in post-pandemic Corona virus period; karma scoring distinguishes the most helpful users in the community.

Matching Interaction Design Principles and Integrated Navigation Systems in an Electronic Classroom

This article deals with cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary virtual engagement aimed to match human-computer interaction design principles and contemporary integrated navigation information systems. As interaction design principles ten general principles - heuristics are used, and as examples of contemporary navigation information systems, chart Radio Detection (or Direction) and Ranging (RADAR) device and Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) are used. This cross-disciplinary research has been achieved through a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) project by Durban University of Technology (DUT) in South Africa and University of Colima (UoC) in Mexico. Namely, the students from both sides guided by their lecturers have been engaged in analyzing today’s most frequently used marine navigational aids from the perspective of their reliability and user centeredness. The complexity of the systems and the lack of standards are observed as main problems when it comes to marine information systems effectiveness and their user centeredness.

Adaptive real-time optimal energy management strategy for extender range electric vehicle

The extender range electric vehicle (EREV) is an effective way to solve the “mileage anxiety” of pure electric vehicles, and the fuel economy of EREV is the key point of energy optimization. This paper designed an adaptive real-time optimal energy management strategy for EREV. Firstly, an improved shooting algorithm is proposed, which can determine the range of the equivalent factor (EF) according to the power configuration parameters of the vehicle, and then the secant method is used to quickly calculate the initial value of the EF. Secondly, from the perspective of energy flow, the intrinsic operation mechanism of equivalent consumption minimization strategy (ECMS) control strategy is revealed, and the working relationship between the five working modes of EREV is clarified. Thirdly, based on the car navigation and geographic location information system, the EF is periodically updated to achieve effective maintenance of the battery state of charge (SOC), so as to obtain the optimal power allocation. Finally, The fuel economy and real-time performance of the proposed energy management strategy are simulated and compared. To verify fuel economy, the rule-based control strategy and the power following control strategy were used as comparison. The results show that the proposed control strategy has better fuel economy and adaptability. To verify real-time performance, the proportional integral derivative ECMS (PID-ECMS) and shooting method ECMS (S-ECMS) were used as comparison. The results show that the proposed strategy is better in both fuel economy and real-time performance.

2D Triangulation of Signals Source by Pole-Polar Geometric Models

The 2D point location problem has applications in several areas, such as geographic information systems, navigation systems, motion planning, mapping, military strategy, location and tracking moves. We aim to present a new approach that expands upon current techniques and methods to locate the 2D position of a signal source sent by an emitter device. This new approach is based only on the geometric relationship between an emitter device and a system composed of signal receiving devices. Current approaches applied to locate an emitter can be deterministic, statistical or machine-learning methods. We propose to perform this triangulation by geometric models that exploit elements of pole-polar geometry. For this purpose, we are presenting five geometric models to solve the point location problem: (1) based on centroid of points of pole-polar geometry, PPC; (2) based on convex hull region among pole-points, CHC; (3) based on centroid of points obtained by polar-lines intersections, PLI; (4) based on centroid of points obtained by tangent lines intersections, TLI; (5) based on centroid of points obtained by tangent lines intersections with minimal angles, MAI. The first one has computational cost and whereas has the computational cost where is the number of points of interest.

The tactics of ship collision avoidance based on Quantum‐behaved Wolf Pack Algorithm

SummaryTo ensure the navigational safety of ships in the sea and reduce human errors, a set of navigational information systems with decision support function is developed. Fast and stable collision avoidance actions are also adopted according to the ship risk level and encounter situation. Therefore, the ship automation collision avoidance tactics based on Quantum‐behaved Wolf Pack Algorithm (QWPA) is proposed complied to COLREG in this paper, and then feasibility and effectiveness of which have been positively verified in laboratory conditions based on the three‐degree‐of‐freedom ship mathematical model; compared with existing collision avoidance scheme, the quality and generating speed of the collision avoidance strategy are enhanced greatly under different ship encounter situation.
