Possibilities for inclusion of Bulgarian protected areas on the IUCN Green List

The most successful approach to conserving biodiversity is the development of a worldwide network of protected areas that are effectively managed through various tools and criteria. The latest global project for management quality of protected areas is the IUCN Green List Standard. It offers an instrument for regular assessment and implementation of protected area management efficiency. Listed sites gain recognition as a good example in nature preservation, international promotion, know-how, access to and exchange of global expertise, support and financial resources for good conservation outcomes. Bulgaria has a well-developed network of protected areas and participates in international programs with several nature sites. Joining the Green List program could influence national policy and actions for further excellence of the national network and its effective management, as well confirm Bulgarian commitment to global conservation efforts. The aim of this study is to assess the possibilities for including sites from the Bulgarian protected areas network on the IUCN Green List, identifying sites, ready to complete the application phase and be credible candidates for inscription. A review of the Bulgarian protected areas network was done and an evaluation, corresponding to the application phase of the Green List, of 49 natural sites (three national parks, 11 nature parks and 35 managed reserves) showed that the best potential candidates for the Green List are the administrations of Central Balkan National Park, Bulgarka Nature Park, Persina Nature Park and Belasitsa Nature Park. It is recommended that they start an application procedure and join the IUCN network.

Therefore, palm oil is one of the most important oils. Indonesia is the largest palm oil producer in the world. From macroeconomic perspective, palm oil has a very strategic role. Besides being a source of foreign exchange, palm oil is also able to stimulate the people-centred economy and open up large employment opportunities. As technology and the globalization era develop, humans are starting to realize the importance of preserving the nature and environment for the benefit of future generations. Apart from that, global warming, which affects the climate change, is considered increasingly dangerous for humans lives and biodiversity on earth. Deforestation is one of the factors that contributes to the global warming. The expansion of palm oil plantations is linked to deforestation. Thus, the issue of sustainability is started to be raised as a relevant topic. The issue of sustainability concerns three elements, namely, profit, people and planet. Not only the economic benefits, but the preservation of nature and forests, as well as the fulfilment of human rights of the palm oil plantation workers must also be considered. The global challenge, such as the rejection of Indonesian palm oil commodities which are considered unsustainable, is also another driving factor to ensure the implementation of a sustainable system in the palm oil plantation business in Indonesia. Ultimately, preserving Indonesia’s nature and forests, as well as fulfilling the human rights of its workforce, are the interests of Indonesia.

Primroses, Preservation and Neo-paganism: Queer Connections to the English Countryside

This article examines some elements of queer rural life in England between the late nineteenth and late twentieth centuries. It discusses a selection of queer people who had a profound relationship to the English countryside and considers how they established their personal lives in rural contexts and how far their significant interactions with rural England might be said to be queer. Taken together, their lives and work illustrate three themes that will encourage further debate among historians of the queer rural: the creation of queer home in the countryside; a desire for the preservation of nature, the landscape and rural life; and an ‘alternative’ spiritual connection to nature and the rural.

The Negative Impact of the Atlant LLC Enterprise on the Environment and the Promotion of Rational Nature Management.

In order to control and reduce the negative impact of emissions on the environment, the company needs to calculate payments for emissions of pollutants. These calculations can be based on various methodologies, including regulatory and reference data, emission monitoring results, as well as legislative requirements and standards for environmental protection. The fee for emissions can be calculated based on the volume of emissions, the concentration of pollutants, as well as their impact on the environment. Effective emission management and compliance with environmental requirements not onlycontributes to the preservation of nature and human health but can also increase the competitiveness of an enterprise in the market and improve its reputation among consumers and investors. Modernization of an enterprise in order to reduce the negative impact of economic activity on the environment is expensive,but it ist the most effective way from the point of view of environmental safety. It is recommended to install, at the enterprise, in addition to the exhaust hood, a tubular electrostatic precipitator of the JS-GD series with a cleaning efficiency of gaseous and dust impurities of 96% and higher. The work is aimed at studying effective methods of stimulating the enterprise to a more responsible attitude to the environment and the use of natural resources. The work will consider the basic principles of sustainable development and also propose specific measures to increase environmental awareness and the efficiency of nature management at the enterprise of OOO Atlant.

Harmonizing tourism and nature conservation: a governance model for sustainable tourism villages in Indonesia

Abstract Developing tourism in villages often grapples with the challenge of balancing growth with conservation. Poor management may lead to harm and the depletion of resources. This study uses case studies from Pentingsari, Nglanggeran, and Candirejo to examine governance models for fostering tourism in villages. The research adopts an approach through field observations in in-depth interviews and document analysis to explore this issue. Findings reveal that these villages have implemented a governance structure involving collaboration among government bodies, private enterprises, and residents. The active involvement of the community emerges as a factor in preserving the environment and indigenous knowledge. Furthermore integrating ecotourism principles and empowering communities contribute to striking a balance, between tourism development and nature preservation. The study presents a governance model that can be replicated in tourist villages to promote sustainable growth.

Ecotourism for sustainability: an in-depth perception and evaluation analysis of community-based “Belitong Geopark” in Belitung Island

Abstract Belitong Geopark covers an area of approximately 125,000 hectares. A community-based ecotourism area that seeks to balance tourism development by integrating ecology and socio-economic welfare. This study aims to explore perceptions and evaluations. Perception and evaluation of community-based tourism management in the Belitong Geopark Area. Tourism management must achieve sustainable development goals. This research method used a combination of qualitative and quantitative. This approaches community perceptions and evaluations of the Belitong Geopark ecotourism initiative. Questionnaires, surveys, and interviews were conducted to capture various perspectives from the community, tourists, and stakeholders involved in the management of Belitong Geopark. Data analysis techniques introduces the innovative use of the Community-Based Ecotourism (CBE) model combined with SWOT analysis, providing a robust analytical framework to assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of Belitong Geopark. The findings of this study are that the community and stakeholders have a positive perception of the management of community-based ecotourism areas in Belitong Geopark. Another finding is the importance of integrating community perspectives into ecotourism planning and management strategies. It can ensure long-term sustainability and mutual benefit for all stakeholders involved. By fostering collaboration between residents, government agencies, NGOs, and private sector entities, community-based ecotourism management and development initiatives will generate economic opportunities. We need attention to the preservation of nature and the socio-cultural life of the community.

Contradictions of sustainable development urban planning form (on the example of Irkutsk)

Problem: the city absorbs the natural and historical and cultural resources of the territory, due to which it is growing. The technical and economic growth of the city does not coincide with the preservation and prosperity of nature and culture. The quality of life with the growth of the city is deteriorating as a result of the predominance of the commercial interests of developers over the environmental and historical values of the townspeople. Purpose: to identify the features of the growth of the city of Irkutsk, environmental and historical-cultural problems accompanying this growth, and to develop a design tool that allows you to protect the environmental and historical-cultural values of the city. Methods: fixing planning forms of conflicts by comparative analysis of design and actual morphotypes of construction; use of configurations of natural and historical-cultural frames of a kind to assess conflict situations; finding a compromise in conflicts of city development motivations. Results: scientific directions for resolving conflicts of sustainable development of the city were identified: the principle of landscape-like planning and construction; the principle of continuity in the development of development; the principle of distinguishing between public and private morphotypes; the principle of ordering random processes in different-time buildings.

Land-use competition in 1.5°C climate stabilization: is there enough land for all potential needs?

Achieving a low-carbon future requires a comprehensive approach that combines emission mitigation options from economic activities with the sustainable use of land for numerous needs: food production, energy production, carbon sequestration, nature preservation and broad ecosystem services. Using the MIT Integrated Global System (IGSM) framework we analyze land-use competition in a 1.5°C climate stabilization scenario, in which demand for bioenergy and natural sinks increase along with the need for sustainable farming and food production. We find that to address the numerous trade-offs, effective approaches to nature-based solutions (NBS) and agriculture practices are essential. With proper regulatory policies and radical changes in current practices, global land is sufficient to provide increased consumption of food per capita (without large diet changes) over the century while also utilizing 2.5–3.5 billion hectares (Gha) of land for NBS practices that provide a carbon sink of 3–6 gigatonnes (Gt) of CO2 per year as well as 0.4–0.6 Gha of land for energy production—0.2–0.3 Gha for 50–65 exajoules (EJ) per year of bioenergy and 0.2–0.35 Gha for 300–600 EJ/year of wind and solar power generation. We list the competing uses of land to reflect the trade-offs involved in land use decisions, and note that while there is sufficient land in our scenario, attaining this outcome, capable of delivering a 1.5°C future, requires effective policies and measures at national and global levels that promote efficient land use for food, energy and nature (including carbon sequestration) and ensure long-term commitments by decision makers from governments and industry in order to realize the benefits of climate change mitigation.

INTEGRATING ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION FOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN BALI BASED ON TRI HITA KARANA CONCEPT

The right to a healthy environment is fundamental for every Indonesian citizen, yet environmental challenges persist. Addressing these issues is not solely the government's responsibility; educational institutions also play a vital role. Schools must nurture future generations with the knowledge, skills, and ethics needed to promote sustainability. The government’s strategy to raise environmental awareness includes integrating environmental education into curricula. This education aims to develop individuals who can actively contribute to environmental protection for both present and future generations. A suitable model for this integration is education based on the values of Tri Hita Karana (THK). THK emphasizes (1) nature preservation, (2) maintaining a healthy school environment, (3) ensuring school cleanliness, and (4) nurturing plant life. By embedding these values into education, schools can enhance students' awareness of environmental protection and empower them to contribute actively to sustainability efforts.

La dignidad del hombre “artista”: Una respuesta al antropocentrismo desmesurado de la tecnociencia y la destrucción del planeta

The text addresses the contemporary humanity and ecological crisis, proposing a reflection from the theology of Saint Bonaventure and the Encyclical Laudato Si of Pope Francis. It focuses on the “dignity of the artistic man” as an image of God, and how this dignity can counteract the exacerbated anthropocentrism that has emerged with technoscience. According to Saint Bonaventure, the human being, as a bridge between God and creation, has the ability to contemplate the beauty and harmony of the world and, at the same time, to transform it without destroying it. Francis reinforces this idea by calling for an “ecological conversion” that recognizes the interconnectedness of all creation and the need for responsible and loving stewardship of the planet. The reflection highlights the importance of an adequate Christian anthropology that guides human beings towards the preservation and respect of nature.

When UBUNTU Becomes the Parameter of Tourism Sustainability

This study examines how embracing the concept of UBUNTU (I am because we are) can enhance tourism sustainability through digitalization. It highlights the interconnectedness of environmental factors and human responsibility globally. The main goal is to promote a sense of belonging to sustain tourism, utilizing digital platforms. By fostering harmony within nature and society, particularly through digital channels, the aim is to raise awareness about sustainability and mitigate the negative impacts of mass tourism. The study also seeks to conserve nature and natural resources from the adverse effects of tourism and advocate for prioritizing the preservation of nature and natural resources over commercial features, such as promoting homestays over star hotels. It emphasizes that destroying nature for development will ultimately diminish tourism appeal. Through this research, the message is conveyed that protecting nature ensures the continuity of tourism and related employment opportunities.

The Tigo Luhah Tanah Sekudung Jambi Indonesian Community in Farming as Stem Learning to Realize Goal 4 SDGS - Quality Education

Objective: The objective of this study is to investigates their environmental management, focusing on agricultural land and forest practices intertwined with indigenous beliefs of The Tigo Luhah Tanah Sekudung Jambi Indonesian Community to realize Goal 4 SDGS - Quality education. Theoretical Framework: This study considers The Tigo Luhah Tanah Sekudung Indigenous peoples, integral to the ancient Kerinci Tribe of Jambi, hold rich heritage encompassing land division knowledge and ancestral beliefs rooted in the environment as science learning resource. Method: We Employing qualitative methods—interviews, observations, and literature review—reveals the community's profound ecosystem comprehension. They employ distinct environmental units, including pelak, pnanam mudo fields, pnanam tuo fields, bluka mudo, bluka tuo, imbo adat, and imbo lengang, for cultivation and conservation. Findings: The study highlights inherent beliefs like uhang taman and dewa, intricately woven into environmental practices, fostering nature preservation. In summary, the Tigo Luhah Tanah Sekudung indigenous people hold extensive knowledge in environmental management, closely linked to their ancestral beliefs, reinforcing sustainable practices and the crucial role of indigenous wisdom in harmonizing humans and nature. Research Implications: The efforts of the tigo luhah tanah sekudung indigenous people serve as a model for integrating traditional practices and beliefs science science learning resource. Novelty: This study explores the indigenous knowledge of the Tigo Luhah Tanah Sekudung Jambi Indonesian Community as a source of science learning in implementing STEM learning.

Community readiness to host a world-class tourism destination: Insights from lake Toba

The research focuses on the potential of the Lake Toba area for internationally recognized tourism and explores whether its local people are prepared to welcome foreign travellers. It also discusses whether traditional customs and behaviour of people around Lake Toba have limited tourism. A web survey was conducted with the aim of gathering information from visitors and locals in Lake Toba and North Sumatra to verify if they knew that the lake has been identified as a Super Priority Destination. The results were analysed based on a six-step content analysis. It is from these results that there will be the potentiality of Lake Toba to be a top-class tourist destination for all, something that should really get and inspire everybody: natural beauty, a variety of fauna and flora, nature preservation, improving infrastructure, and cultural diversity. Community welcoming and support of local culture and ways of living enhance the experience of the visitor in this tourism sector. A good number of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) concur with the research. SDGs 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and 15 (Life on Land) all give priority to conservation and nature's beauty. These two SDGs encourage sustainable operations. SDG 11, which is Sustainable Cities and Communities, stipulates that local culture integrated into tourism supports sustainable cities and communities’ development actions.

Memperbaiki Hubungan Antara Manusia dan Alam Melalui Pemikiran Daisaku Ikeda

Man and nature are inseparable unity, both are organic unity that must be mutually maintained. Daisaku Ikeda asserted that the state of the world filled with the destruction of nature has diminished the interdependent relationship between humans and nature. The destruction of nature caused by human unconsciousness of nature preservation and hierarchical view which puts human beings as supreme beings among all that exists in nature is a significant warning that should re-awaken human beings of responsibility (guarding and nurturing) to nature. Pope Francis in Laudato Si' emphasizes the ecological repentance that should be imbued with ecological spirituality rooted in the faith of faith in Christ as proclaimed through the Gospel. In this context, ecological conversion can be understood as the process of sharing all the fruits of human encounter with Christ with the surrounding environment. One result of this encounter should be manifested in relation to the universe, i.e. environmental justice.

공공문화콘텐츠로서의 산림교육과 자연해설에 대한 해석적 연구: 프리먼 틸든의 ‘해설’ 개념을 중심으로

This study is an interpretive research on the philosophical orientation of forest education, a public cultural content utilizing forest resources. Forest education professionals such as ‘forest interpreters’, ‘early childhood forest guides’, and ‘forest trail and mountain guides’ are trained to provide public cultural content services that mediate between citizens and nature. This practice originated in the historical context of nature preservation and management through state-led national parks, which began in the West, particularly in the United States. Forest education in Korea, such as forest interpretation, is equivalent to ‘nature interpretation’ in the West. The various literatures produced on nature interpretation have had a significant impact on Korean forest education policy, and this study aims to identify the ideological roots of nature interpretation, which have been largely unexplored. The study first approached nature interpretation activities by collecting examples from Europe, Northern Europe, and Canada, confirming that nature preservation is a common goal and purpose. Through a historical approach, the researchers examined the preservationism that influenced the introduction of nature interpretation in the West and realized that the philosophical origin of nature interpretation is the idea of combining nature preservation and spirituality. To understand nature interpretation, we examine Freeman Tilden's concept of interpretation, which continued this early preservationist spirit but constructively transformed it and shaped nature interpretation today. The study explored the core concept of ‘the Thing Itself’ in the context of Romantic texts such as those by Novalis and Carl von Linné, centering on Kant's influence on Romanticism. Most importantly, the researchers interpreted Tilden's concept of ‘interpretation’ as a theory of the sublime to explore the philosophical roots of nature interpretation. Through this study, it is argued that the essential meaning of the field of nature interpretation is the unity of nature and human beings and the love of nature through personal experience and recognition of the sublime in nature.

Marketing Communication Analysis of Instagram Taraju Tourism Village: The Real Experience of West Java

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia prioritizes the development of tourism villages in order to support enhanced economic growth, people's welfare, poverty eradication, unemployment reduction, the preservation of nature, the environment, and resources, and cultural advancement. Tourism villages must establish suitable marketing messages as part of the decentralized social, cultural, and economic transformation of villages, in which each region assesses its potential for development as a tourism attraction based on its distinctiveness and authenticity. Taraju Tourism Village in Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java, was named one of the top 75 in the 2023 Indonesian Tourism Village Award and received first place in the national Digital and Creative category. This study examines Taraju Tourism Village's marketing communications on the Instagram social media account @wisata_taraju in terms of two key issues: content type and media type. Taraju Tourism Village prioritizes reminder content and earned media in its marketing communications, according on a qualitative approach using content analysis tools. The Instagram social media account @wisata_taraju manages reminder content and earned media sourced from user-generated content provided by Taraju Tourism Village visitors. The Taraju Tourism Village Instagram account can be managed in a balanced manner, with informational, persuasive, and reminder content to promote attractiveness, unified identity, and more intense connection on the @wisata_taraju social media page. Meanwhile, the dominance of earned media over owned and paid media must be tempered with balanced owned media to make the Taraju Tourism Village's identity more manageable and brandable.

Assessment of Nature and Cultural Conservation and Achievement of The SDGS in The Hargotirto Tourism Village Area, Kulonprogo

The government continues to encourage the development and development of tourism in Indonesia, which is oriented towards regional development that relies on the community and is empowering the community, which includes various aspects, such as human resources, marketing, destinations, science and technology, cross-sector linkages, cooperation between countries, empowerment of small businesses, and responsibility in the utilization of natural and cultural resources. The main purpose of this study is to assess the preservation of nature and culture as an asset of a tourist village in Hargotirto, Kulonprogo. The study method is carried out using a qualitative descriptive data analysis technique, which is a research method that utilizes qualitative data and describes it descriptively. This type of qualitative descriptive data analysis is frequently used to analyze events, phenomena, or circumstances in a social way. The assessment results were carried out on Water Resources Management, Water Use Management System, Waste Management, Waste Management, and Waste Management, which have varying levels of importance.

RF-GymCare: Introducing Respiratory Prior for RF Sensing in Gym Environments

Exercise-induced sudden death has become an increasingly serious health issue in recent years. Fortunately, respiratory monitoring can serve as an effective early prevention solution. In particular, radio frequency (RF) sensing has emerged as a promising solution due to its contactless nature and privacy preservation. Existing RF-based respiratory monitoring solutions for homes, offices, or vehicles would suffer from significant performance degradation when deployed in typical gym workouts, where respiratory and physical movements are mixed in the RF signals in an unpredictable manner, leading to a blind source separation (BSS) problem. What is worse, the prior assumptions of source independence in existing BSS algorithms no longer hold, leaving respiratory monitoring in gym scenarios as an open issue. In this paper, we propose RF-GymCare, which introduces respiratory priors into the BSS problem and utilizes knowledge distillation to transfer these priors, aiming to learn the demixing weight from mixed signals. With the demixing weight, the respiratory signal can be obtained through a linear combination of the mixed signals. Our experiments with 13 hours of data across nine types of exercises demonstrate its superiority over existing methods, achieving a median similarity of 0.75 and a median rate error of 0.5 respiration per minute (RPM), respectively.

Askara yang Diiringi Kegelapan: Paradoks Etika Lingkungan Hidup Pada Kawasan Ekowisata

The development of ecotourism activities presents various characteristics of the behavior of tourists and the surrounding community which have implications for the preservation of nature. This study aims to describe environmental ethics in the community, tourists and the management of ecotourism in Bukit Tahura Sultan Adam. The research method used is qualitative, with the type of case study research. Data collection used observation instruments, in-depth interviews and documentation. The results showed that in the ecotourism area of Bukit Tahura Sultan Adam, anthropocentrism behavior was very clear. In accordance with the review of how humans see nature, this behavior is classified into 2 (two) forms of anthropocentrism. First, absolute anthropocentrism which assesses nature only as a source of life that is utilized for human needs. This ethic is represented by the attitude of people who only focus on protecting natural objects that are considered to provide direct benefits to humans. Second, moderate anthropocentrism is an environmental ethic that perceives nature through its functions in fulfilling human needs as individuals and collective society. This ethic is reflected in the attitude of tourists and ecotourism managers who make nature an object that has a value. Therefore, the nature of Bukit Tahura Sultan Adam must be respected and maintained because it has benefits for humans. His love and affection for nature is solely a manifestation of human interests. This research is a critical reflection in increasing care and awareness of protecting the environment in ecotourism areas through a holistic perspective and not sourced from a subordinate view, and not seeing nature only in terms of direct benefits that can be given to humans.

VALUE-NORMATIVE DIMENSIONS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS IN THE CONDITIONS OF WAR

The article is devoted to the study of the ethical and value dimensions of the ecological crisis in the situation caused by war, and to the clarification of the significance of human responsibility for one’s actions in relation to nature. It is shown that the observance of moral and ethical norms and orientation to the values vital to man are a necessary condition for the preservation of human life and nature. The analysis of the tasks set in the article is carried out on the basis of the use of ideas of communicative philosophy and discursive ethics, which allows to form knowledge about the ecologically constructive relations of man with nature, to assess the scale of environmental problems in the conditions of war, and to search for ways to mitigate the consequences of the ecological crisis for man and nature.It is substantiated that the ecological crisis has value and cultural origins, therefore the awareness of the need to adhere to universal human values and the correlation of human actions in relation to nature with the norms of cultural and historical universalism becomes especially relevant. Attention is focused on the fact that in the conditions of war, barbaric expansion into the natural world, soullessness, merciless treatment of the plant and animal world, man and humanity must be guided in their actions by humanistic consciousness and moral principles, determine their actions by understanding responsibility for life. It has been established that modern man’s recognition of the importance of moral and ethical norms and humanistic values is an alternative to a lifestyle built on an unlimited, aggressive, exploitative attitude towards nature. Despite the difference between the types of culture and different cultural systems, the dominance of different value systems, people must equally ensure equal rights and bear joint responsibility for life. The most promising development strategy for humanity in a war situation should be the preservation of human life in unity with nature.
