In view of the highly theatrical nature of Fascism, both as a concept and as practiced by Benito Mussolini, it is intriguing to find that he had a revolutionary idea for the theatre and that he wrote three plays. The study relates his Fascist state, his oratory, his theatre ideas, and his plays to his Neo‐Romantic viewpoint, which virtually equated life, art, and politics, and merged myth with reality.
