Marriage Practice: A Comparative Analysis between Chinese and Ethiopian People

Marriage has been crucial to maintaining human reproduction, social progress, and cultural continuity. Countries have distinctive wedding traditions that reflect social life, morals, religion, values, sexual consciousness, and national psychology's development trends. The article evaluates and compares the variations between Chinese and Ethiopian wedding cultures from the perspectives of traditional values, religion, and wedding processes to understand the variances and similarities of marriage cultures in the process of cultural globalization. The approach adopted in this study is an integrative or narrative review which enables us to capture the practice of marriage culture in Ethiopian and Chinese people. The article revealed that Chinese and Ethiopian marriage practice is similar in terms of pride price, Wedding Ring, wedding banquet, wedding gift, and Wedding ceremony, but have different practice in dressing clothes color and Marriage Sense. But, the impact of cultural globalization is melting both countries’ wedding traditions into Western style.

Psychology Recognition Week: A Blueprint for Recognizing and Promoting the Contributions of Psychology at Academic Health Centers.

It is important to recognize and celebrate the contributions of psychologists at Academic Health Centers (AHCs). Recognition events can help attract, retain, and honor professionals who play essential roles in healthcare. This case study describes the establishment of a national Psychology Recognition Week in the Department of Veterans Affairs and offers a model for other AHCs looking to implement a similar initiative. This case study outlines several factors that contributed to the success of developing a recognition week, including the involvement of leadership at all levels, forming a planning committee, setting milestones, building infrastructure, and fostering partnerships.

A Related Study between Language and Gender

Nowadays as we all know, English is one of the most widely used languages in the world and Chinese is also the language that is used by most population in the world. English is a part of the Indo-European while Chinese belongs to Han-Tibetan languages. They have different historical development trajectories and choose different written systems. English and Chinese are both important representatives of Eastern and Western cultures. If you conduct comparative study of these two languages, it is helpful to understand the essential features of the language and reveal the deep structure of the Eastern and Western cultures. Studying gender discrimination in English and Chinese languages comprehensively and systematically, which is contrasting the similarities and differences between languages and cultures of English and Chinese, can provide a reference for understanding language, culture, thinking and national psychology. It can also improve the understanding of languages and cultures.

Intercivilizational Dialogue in Central Asia: Views of Russian and Tajik Scientists

The article provides an analysis of the features of the dialogue of civilizations in Central Asia. The region is considered as an intercivilizational hub where Persian, Hellenistic, Babylonian, Chinese, Indian, Mongolian, Arab, and Turkic civilizations interacted and competed. As a result, a special type of culture arose that influences peoples, their national psychology, religion, and linguistic characteristics. Historically, the region was a contact zone of settled agricultural and nomadic civilizations. The impetus for the development of the region was given by its transit potential, in particular the Great Silk Road. The authors believe that at the present stage, dialogue is possible based on an understanding of the historical community of different peoples living in the region, and one’s own civilizational identity, which is based on traditional values. The political culture of the Central Asian countries has developed its own democratic principles, which are not always identical to Western ones. At the present stage, new dialogue platforms are emerging where active intercivilizational dialogue is conducted. Along with the dialogue are Afghanistan, Iran, China, Pakistan.

A Study of Influence of Yoga on the Mental Health of Adolescents

Mental health refers to an individual’s overlall adjustment in behaviour which is socially desirable to achieve a maximum of satisfaction and happiness, enabling ability to face and deal with the daily life situations effectively. The present research paper explored to comparative study the level of mental health among adolescents who are routinely performing Yoga. The present study consisted sample of 120 subjects divided in two groups (Boys and Girls), each group has 60 subjects, considered for six different parameters. These all subjects came from class IX from four local english medium schools. No group was further subdivided. Mental Health Battery (ISBN 93-87452-59-X) authered by Dr. Arun Kumar Singh & Dr Alpana Sen Gupta of National Psychological Corporation, Agra, was used as tool for the assessment of mental health. For statistical analysis and hypothesis testing, mean score and t-test were applied. The findings show that there was no significant difference in the influence on the mental health of adolescent of both sexes. On the basis of the findings in the presented study, it may be concluded that in adolescents who were performing Yoga routinely, gender has no influential factor in mental health.

HISTORICAL EVOLUTION AND INNOVATIVE DESIGN OF QIANG COSTUMES

Рurpose. This paper analyzes the evolution process and cultural connotation of Qiang costume form, discusses the application form of Qiang costume elements in modern clothing design, and provides a theoretical basis for the innovative design of national costumes. Methodology. The field research method, literature analysis method, and case study method are used to analyze the evolution process, cultural connotation, and design application of Qiang costumes. Results. By studying the development process and style design changes of the Qiang costumes, it is concluded that its unique cultural connotation and design characteristics are closely related to the social characteristics, production methods and religious beliefs of the Qiang people. It is the materialized expression of the Qiang people's world outlook and national psychology. It reveals the reasons for the change of the Qiang costume modelling and proposes the method of using ethnic elements in modern costume design. Scientific novelty. This paper studies the development process of Qiang costume shape from the perspective of design, history, ethnology and anthropology, and puts forward that Qiang costume is the materialized expression form of local people 's world outlook, values and aesthetics, and clarifies that the change of Qiang costume shape is influenced by religious culture and Han-Tibetan culture. Suggestions are made in the form of integration of national costume elements with modern clothing design. Practical significance. The Qiang costume has been fused with other ethnic cultures in the course of historical changes, which is both inherited and changed, which is very inspiring to modern costume design. Digging deeper into the cultural connotation and design language of Qiang costume, so that it can innovate the design method and explore the design carrier while inheriting the national culture, so as to provide reference for the creation of a costume design that can embody both the traditional Chinese culture and the sense of the times.

A Comparative Study of Kinship Appellations Between China and South Korea

Appellation is an indispensable part of People's Daily communication, "appellation" is people according to relatives or other mutual relations and identity, occupation, etc. As a part of appellation, kinship appellation occupies an important position in the study of language and culture, and kinship appellation, as a basic vocabulary, has formed a strict system in each national language. It is relatively stable and reflects a nation's cultural tradition, life style, national psychology and other characteristics. Through the research and analysis of kinship terms in China and South Korea, this paper explores the similarities and differences between the two peoples' language and culture.

Predictability of the National Psychological Stress Screening for Subsequent Long-Term Psychiatric Sick Leave Among Employees: A Multicenter Nested Case-Control Study.

The aim of the study is to predict employees' long-term sick leave due to psychiatric disorders using the national psychological stress screening program. University employees who took long-term psychiatric sick leave in 2016-2018 were assigned as cases. Those who were present at work and matched for sex, age, and occupation type were assigned as controls. Answers in a 57-item questionnaire were analyzed by multivariable regression, and a prediction model was developed. It was validated in cases and matched controls in 2019. Six items were identified as independent predictors by multivariable regression and included in a prediction model. The area under the receiver-operating characteristics curve was 0.768 (95% confidence interval: 0.723-0.813). This finding was similar to that in the validation sample. The performance of the prediction model was modest and the national Stress Check Program should be further refined.

The concepts of “Motherland” and “State” in Russian language

The subject of the study is the concepts “Motherland” and “State”, their synonyms and associative images in Russian songs and Russian language, including Russian phraseological units, proverbs and sayings. The first concept is understood as a small homeland and a large homeland. Each person has his own small homeland, which is associated with place of birth, family, house, street, village, town, etc. The large homeland in a broad sense refers to the native country. The small homeland is part of the big homeland. These concepts play a role in the formation of Russian person’s national consciousness, spiritual values, worldview, character and personality. The purpose of this work is to clarify their meanings and differences in Russian language and in Russian people’s consciousness. Research methods include descriptive, associative, comparative methods, methods of synthesis and generalization, and semantic analysis. When analyzing and comparing the concepts “Motherland” and “State”, this work examines the images reflected in the texts of Russian songs about these concepts and language examples in Russian phraseological dictionaries. The conducted research shows that the term “Motherland”, associated with national history, culture and ethnic identity, has a spiritual psychological flavor. The term “State” with a social meaning is defined as a political, legal, economic form of organization of human society. This concept is associated with the images of “law”, “authority”, “army/armed force”, “citizen”, etc. Clarifying the differences in their semantics in Russian language helps speakers of other linguistic cultures to better understand their significance in Russian people’s history, culture and consciousness, their role and influence on the formation of Russian people’s national psychology and spiritual world. The study of these concepts has prospects for expanding foreign students' vocabulary, deeper understanding of the Russian language, culture, people, its spiritual world and their relationships and enriching their cultural, linguistic and personal experience.

ДЕЯКІ ЕТНОКУЛЬТУРНІ ПСИХОЛОГІЧНІ ОСОБЛИВОСТІ КАЗАХІВ РЕСПУБЛІКИ КАЗАХСТАН

An objective understanding of the psychological characteristics of a person is impossible outside the ethnocultural context. At the same time, cultural processes are constantly changing under the influence of various factors. These changes in culture affect the way people live and perceive reality. This review examines some ethnocultural psychological features of the Kazakhs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including historical and cultural determinants of the psychology of modern Kazakhs; features of national stereotypes; the influence of national psychology on the interaction and behavior of people in organizations, and the specifics of the implementation of managerial functions by leaders; and the influence of national psychology on the behavior of Kazakhs in conflict situations. To achieve these goals, the issues of historical memory of the Kazakh people, ethnogenesis, as well as other factors that characterize the Kazakh mentality, are studied. Thus, the mentality of the people is dominated by hospitality, respect for older relatives, eloquence, the nomad cult, and tolerance. These features represent only a small part of Kazakh culture, which may differ depending on the region, social context, and characteristics of each representative of the ethnic group. Understanding the ethnocultural characteristics of Kazakhs contributes to effective cross-cultural interaction, communication, successful business and work, mutual respect, and tolerance. Furthermore, nowadays the need to study the ethnocultural psychological features of the Kazakh ethnic group is emphasized considering the military invasion of Russia in Ukraine.

Teaching Profession in Nepal: Attitude and Job Satisfaction of the School Teachers

Quality education is the key factor for overall development of an individual and nation. Quality of education is directly related to competency and dedication of the teacher, as teacher is the main implement or of the educational program. This study investigates the attitude of permanent school teachers towards teaching profession and their level of job satisfaction. Quantitative research design over a sample of randomly selected 200 teachers was used in this study.
 A Likert type attitude scale was prepared and standardized by the researcher on the sample of 374 school teachers of five districts of Nepal and India but this study is based in context of Nepal. Job satisfaction level was measured by Job Satisfaction Scale (JSST-DM) published by National Psychological Corporation, Agra, India. Normative survey method was used to collect required data. Maslow’s theory of motivation based on the needs hierarchy system was used to interpret the findings of this study. Result was interpreted by using z-score norms based on seven categories, which explored that 20.50 percent of the teachers were favorable towards their profession, 46 percent were unfavorable and 33.50 percent were neutral towards teaching profession. Similarly, percentage of teachers found above Average Satisfied on their job was 37 percent, below Average Satisfied was 40 percent and percent of Average Satisfied teachers was 23. Out of which, nine percent school teachers were extremely satisfied and 13 percent were extremely dissatisfied.
 Teachers cannot do well on teaching profession unless they have a positive attitude towards their profession and are not satisfied with it. This study reveals that a significant number of teachers are not satisfied with their profession and do not have a positive attitude towards it. It is imperative that the concerned authorities review the policies regarding salary, facilities and position in the national protocol for teachers in order to bring a positive change in the situation.

On the Legal Culture Analysis of Yanzhou Anti-Church Case in Late Qing Dynasty

Yanzhou Anti-Church Case, which happened in the late Qing Dynasty in Shandong Province, contains complex legal culture besides political factors. For the causes of happening, the national psychology of Chinese tradition "prevention of Hua-Yi ", the idea of" community standard "and the civil regulation making by Yanzhou people according to the emotion logic are the legal cultural factors that why Yanzhou Case taking place. During the dispute settlement processing, the cultural view of "one culture only" conflicted with the "multiple coexistence" , the value orientation of "public opinion" conflicted with the "legal rights" , and the style of "legal rights appeal " conflicted with " hidden rules response". These reflect the difference between Chinese and Western legal culture. Anti-Church Case was the result of the collision between "tradition" and "modern" in late Qing Dynasty, missionary and anti-church case processing also promoted the transformation from traditional China to modern. Today, the conflict between tradition and modern has not been stopped, our cultural modernization, psychological modernization still have a long way to go.

The problem of the search for the national idea able to unite the Russian society at yet another historic crucial point in the development of the country becomes relevant once more in the modern conditions. The article justifies the position that such idea should not be searched for in the depths of the national psychology rooted in the past. The task of the national idea is to outline the vector of movement towards a more perfect social structure of the future that would be of meaning for the entire civilization and to maintain the link to these roots.

An Analysis of the Images in Hayao Miyazaki’s Movies from the Perspective of Cognitive Metaphor

Hayao Miyazaki’s (born on January 5, 1941 in Tokyo), is a Japanese animator, animation producer, cartoonist, animation director, and animation screenwriter. His movies have lasting impact. Based on the conceptual metaphor theory of cognitive linguistics, this study analyzes the multi-modal metaphors in his animated movies to explore his cognitive needs behind his creation and find out how these metaphors are generated. This paper uses the method of qualitative analysis and comprehensively analyzes the images, aiming to answer two questions: 1) What are the multi-modal metaphors in his animated movies? 2) What cognitive needs and creative motivations do these multi-modal metaphors reflect in his movies? 
 
 In this paper, five of Miyazaki’s animated movies are employed to analyze the images in it. The secondary data was collected from the website of movies. The results of the study showed that there is a large number of non-textual metaphors in his movies, such as: Pig, Totoro, Oil house, Chihiro, Animals, Fire, Bridge, Tain, and so on. These multimodal metaphors reflect the cognitive needs and psychological motivations behind his creations. Through the analysis of Hayao Miyazaki himself, basic color, emotions, space, daily habits, national culture and other metaphorical cognition in his movies, we have a full understanding of metaphorical cognition, language and culture, national psychology and thinking habits in the process of his creation. The findings are of great importance to the cognitive study of metaphors in the field of animated movies.

The Influence of Cultural Background on the Acquisition of Chinese as a Second Language

In the process of acquiring Chinese as a second language, cultural background is very important. The cultural background factors that affect the acquisition of Chinese as a second language include value orientation, national psychology and cultural distance. Under different cultural backgrounds, there is a big gap between Chinese students and China people in value orientation and national psychology, which hinders them from learning Chinese. However, students in Chinese cultural circle who are close to China culture have obvious advantages in Chinese acquisition compared with students in non-Chinese cultural circle, which is more conducive to second language acquisition. On the basis of previous studies, this paper analyzes the cultural background factors that affect the acquisition of Chinese as a second language, and on this basis, puts forward some suggestions for Chinese teaching, such as finding the commonalities of different cultures, strengthening the understanding of students' background and paying attention to the communicative function of Chinese teaching.

A process oriented psychology (POP) approach to processing collective trauma in an Irish context

The island of Ireland and Irish people have experienced a vast array of social, political, and military and paramilitary events and occurrences throughout history. Many have given rise to different forms of collective trauma. This has influenced the development of a national psychology and the many sub-psychologies of different groups of Irish people. Unprocessed, this trauma is transferred to subsequent generations at an individual, group, and collective level. This article considers an integrative approach to working with collective issues within groups of people who have a relationship with Irishness. This is heavily based on process oriented psychology (POP) or its larger scale application, worldwork. Mapping and following the different roles that may emerge within the process is key. We combine this approach with the spirit or essence of ancient Irish storytelling in hosting community-based dialogue interventions. These groups explore ‘the experience of being Irish in 2022 or different relationships with, or to, Irishness in today’s world’. The different themes and topics that emerged across the initial groups are discussed with further reflections from participants and more in-depth commentary from the perspectives of the group facilitators. The next stages of this group-based psychotherapeutic work are considered within an Irish framework; as well as the potential benefit of this kind of work at an international level, given the many collective psychosocial challenges we face across a very interconnected globe.

The experience of launching a psychological hotline across 21 countries to support Ukrainians in wartime

PurposeThis paper aims to discuss current work and further steps of the psychological hotline launched by the National Psychological Association of Ukraine (NPA), along with a call for action to mental health professionals worldwide.Design/methodology/approachThis paper describes the training and support of the NPA’s hotline staff as well as reflections on the hotline’s work from June 2022 to April 2023.FindingsWith broad international support, the NPA’s psychological hotline currently operates in 21 countries providing psychological assistance and referrals to other service providers within Ukraine and abroad. The authors propose further steps of its work, including international collaboration.Originality/valueProviding citizens of Ukraine with broad public access to evidence-based remote psychological support through NPA’s hotlines is a high priority considering the war’s negative impact on mental health diverse and the limited capacity of the state mental health system.

The purpose of this study is to deeply explore the national cultural gene and its contemporary value of She silver jewelry, and to provide theoretical basis and practical support for the inheritance, protection and innovation of national culture in eastern Fujian. At the same time, this study will also provide new perspectives and ideas for the study of minority cultures in China.
