To be clear, I studied prints of A Salute to France held by UCLA and by AMPAS, and I viewed the three surviving reels of Salut à la France at the Academy Film Archive. It is the French version that is truly rare. I have not attempted to find the locations of other prints of the English-language version because I believe there are many of them. Despite this, however, A Salute to France is almost never screened and, to my knowledge, it has not appeared on television or come out on VHS. A DVD edition that included both versions of the film would be welcome and useful. 3.
