This study explores the stories and experiences of sports experts who are aiming for independent work in the field of physical education and sports. To this end, a narrative research method was used for trainers with 18 years of experience in athlete rehabilitation and physical fitness trainers. Data was collected through narrative interviews and participatory observation based on the life experiences of participants in the study from January 2020 to May 2022. The collected data were analyzed through cultural descriptive methods, and the results are as follows. First, the research participants face a new job environment after the change in trends in the sports industry and the Corona pandemic. Second, the research participants who felt the need for change decide to get out of the current work environment. Third, for change, they destroy the existing way of working and seek a new way of life. Fourth, to become independent workers, the research participants strengthen networking in their specialized areas, utilize online platforms, and maintain flexibility and non-exclusiveness of working conditions. Fifth, as independent workers, gig workers, they make an effort to build their own domain.
