It is felt that community service activities (PKM) in the form of Packaging Training can increase the knowledge and abilities of local residents. So far, many products in Pondok Jagung Timur Subdistrict are not yet known to many people because they do not yet have a brand/label in the form of a business name or product. others who are informative and can promote SME products in Pondok Jagung Timur Village. Good packaging can provide information from the producer to consumers regarding the business and product quality. The lack of knowledge and information of entrepreneurs regarding the matters mentioned above causes SME products in Pondok Jagung Timur Subdistrict to suffer. It is hoped that correct Packaging training will have an impact on optimal results in order to increase income as well as improve the economy of residents through Packaging which is quite significant for small-scale home economic communities. It is hoped that this PKM activity will be able to improve the welfare of the community through packaging in particular and the surrounding community in general so that the positive impact can be felt sustainably.

Word Formation with Foreign Lexemes: The Case of Hybrid Compounds in Arabic

Arabic compounds consist of a group of two or three words joined together into one vocabulary unit. Syntactically, Arabic compounds consist of a Noun + adjective; Noun + apposited noun; Noun + apposited noun + adjective; Noun + apposited N. + apposited N; Noun + the negative particle لا no/non; compound adverbs; and compound particles. Orthographically, the lexical items in most Arabic compounds are separated by a blank, few are agglutinated (spelled together) and few more are hyphenated. This study aimed to explore the status of hybrid compounds in Arabic within its terminological structure; their denotative and connotative meanings; how productive they are; whether they are used in Standard or Colloquial Arabic; whether they are permanent or transient; in which domains they are used; and why hybrid compounds are coined by Arabic-speakers. To achieve those purposes, a corpus of hybrid compounds containing the foreign lexemes/affixes Arabia, book, café, cast, center, co, com., expo, extra, for, gate, hyper, leaks, link, mania, mart, media, meter; mini, mobile, net, pal, pedia, petro, pharma, phone, press, pro, sat, show, soft, super, talk, tech, tic, times, top, tube, ultra, web, and wiki combined with Arabic lexemes was collected. Data analysis showed that specialized hybrid compounds, those used for names of satellite T.V. station, names of electronic newspapers, news agencies and companies are more permanent than those used during the Arab Spring or those used in names of forums, blogs, T.V. shows or newspaper articles which appeared for a short time then disappeared. The former set of hybrid compounds are used in Standard Arabic and formal contexts, whereas the latter set is used in Colloquial Arabic. The former constitutes a small set of hybrid compounds coined by specialists and Arabic language academies, whereas the latter is more prolific as those compounds were created by activists, political analysts, journalists, and social media users. The study revealed promotional, linguistic, globalization and sociocultural factors for coining hybrid compounds, and lack of a business naming policy. Hybrid compounds constitute a threat to Arabic and hinder the linguistic development of the young generation.

Branding Strategi Bagi Para Pelaku UMKM Kelurahan Kepatihan Kulon

This research is motivated by the lack of knowledge and ability of MSME actors to carry out product branding, especially in the Kepatihan Kulon sub-district. One of these problems is that the majority of MSMEs have not found a brand to attract customers and packaging that still does not attract buyers and there is limited information regarding product branding. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to carry out research and assistance. The aim of this research is to provide assistance and introduction to creating NIB accounts and checking business names and logos as well as assistance and creating the latest logos for selected MSMEs. The method in this research uses the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method to make it easier for researchers to define problems and provide action as a solution to the problems that have been defined. The results of this research explain that so far MSMEs in the Kepatihan Kulon sub-district have only prioritized taste without paying attention to branding and packaging, so the hopes of this assistance for MSMEs can be higher than before. Apart from that, creating an NIB account is expected to make MSMEs more concerned about the legality of their business.

ENGLISH FOR BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION: A SYNTACTIC AMBIGUITY ANALYSIS OF A STUDY PROGRAM’S NAME

This qualitative descriptive research aims to explore the different meanings that can be derived from the name of a study program, i.e., English for Business and Professional Communication, using a syntactic approach. The syntactic approach employed was the X-bar theory rules to analyze the possibilities of the structural meaning. The results show three possible structural interpretations of the program’s name: (i) an English language program with two specific objectives, namely business and professional communication, (ii) a program with two specializations, namely English language for business purposes and professional communication, and (iii) an English language program with a specific purpose in the field of communication, which is divided into two sub-fields, namely business communication and professional communication. Thus, the English for Business and Professional Communication study program name is an ambiguous construction with three possible structural readings.

DOMAIN NAME PROTECTION IN SOUTH AFRICA

This paper investigates the legal mechanisms that are available when one is dealing with domain name disputes. It describes the domain name system and contrasts this with other forms of intellectual property. The different types of domain name conflicts are discussed and the legal measures available for protection of domain names as intellectual property are highlighted. Reference is made to national protection measures such as the Trade Marks Act 194 of 1993 and common law protection of intellectual property. Certain international legal mechanisms such as the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s rules with regard to online domain name dispute resolution and the United State’s Anticybersquatter Consumer Protection Act of 1999 are also discussed as these measures have a direct influence on some domain names of South African businesses. Lastly the changes to domain name dispute resolution procedures envisaged by the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 are discussed.Since the advent of e-commerce a new species of highly valuable intellectual property has developed. Although there are remarkable similarities between domain names and “common law trade marks” and trade marks protected by the Trade Marks Act 194 of 1993 there are also important differences, which cause uncertainty and confusion when disputes involving domain names arise. These differences flow mainly from the unique characteristics of domain names. The purpose of this note is to investigate the domain name system as it is used in South Africa, to compare domain names and trade marks, and to look at the protection mechanisms which an aggrieved party may have at his or her disposal if he should find that his business name or trade mark (or something similar) is being used by a domain name registrant in a way that conflicts with his interests. In addition, a short comparison of how these problems are addressed by the international community, particularly the USA and Britain, will be made.

Findings on Ad Hoc Contractions

Abbreviations are often overlooked, since their frequency and acceptance are almost second nature in everyday communication. Business names, handwritten notes, online messaging, professional domains, and different languages all have their own set of abbreviations. The abundance and frequent introduction of new abbreviations cause multiple areas of overlaps and ambiguity, which mean documents often lose their clarity. We reverse engineered the process of creating these ad hoc abbreviations and revealed some preliminary statistics on what makes them easier or harder to define. In addition, we generated candidate definitions for which it proved difficult for a word sense disambiguation model to select the correct definition.

PENGEMBANGAN UMKM DENGAN MODUL ILO SCORE

ABSTRACT
 This study aims to help MSME actors to be able to develop and compete in a healthy manner in times of rapid development from time to time. In this case, the Shanti Bhuana Institute Academics conducted a survey to determine where they would carry out mentoring and apply the knowledge they got during their lectures, by choosing the type of MSMEs that were quite popular in the city of Bengkayang, we from the Academics side chose to accompany Warkop. Warkop is a business engaged in the MSME sector that sells various drinks and other snacks. The location of the Warkop that we accompany is in the city of Bengkayang, West Kalimantan, this Warkop was established on February 25, 2022. There are several problems encountered in this Warkop MSME, among others, the arrangement of goods is not well organized, the arrangement of goods is not based on labels, there is no menu list so that consumers who visit cannot choose what they drink easily, there is no business name or brand yet. Based on the problems that have been explored from the MSMEs, it can be seen that this occurs because of the limitations possessed by the business owners, therefore it is necessary to have support and assistance for the empowerment of MSMEs in the Warkop in order to develop MSMEs, therefore the Shanti Bhuana Institute has sent one of the Academics to assist the Warkop with the aim of making the Warkop one of the SMEs that developed in Bengkayang district through the application of the ILO SCORE module.

Peningkatan Kewirausahaan Dan Kemandirian Ekonomi Pada UMKM Mebel Melalui Penerapan Pemasaran Digital

KKN MBKM Thematic is a community service activity formed by universities. This activity was carried out by students with the theme of entrepreneurship in Nglebak Village. The aim of this project is to provide wider opportunities for communities to develop their businesses in a more contemporary, efficient and inclusive manner. In addition, this project aims to increase students' knowledge and integrate it into the environment. This is to identify and solve problems faced by the 06 KKN-T MBKM group, such as creating digital marketing through Instagram social media which contains content about furniture products in an attractive appearance so that they are more easily recognized in the eyes of the wider community. To realize the development of the furniture business in this community service activity, group 06 KKN-T MBKM carried it out using detailed and gradual implementation methods starting from surveys, observations, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The steps taken to help digital marketing for MSMEs Furniture are starting with creating a business name, creating a product logo, creating an e-commerce account, and creating a social media account.

Text Recognition Using Image Processing Technology for Visiting Card

Abstract: Image recognition and optical character recognition technologies have become an integral part of our daily lives due to increasing computing power and the proliferation of scanning devices. A printed document can be quickly converted to a digital text file using optical character recognition and edited by the user. The time required to digitize documents is therefore minimal. This is especially useful when archiving large print volumes. In this study, we show how image processing techniques can be used in combination with optical character recognition to improve recognition accuracy and improve efficiency in extracting text from images. Two of his software systems are developed and tested in this study: a character recognition system applied to cosmetics-related advertising images and a recognition and text recognition system for natural scenes. Experimental results show that the proposed system can accurately recognize text in images. Development using the Rapid Application Model of peTrace: Peter’s Poultry Supply Sales and Monitoring Management System

The poultry industry includes other support industries such as feed production and distribution, veterinary and poultry equipment production and distribution, meat and egg processing, marketing and distribution, and so on. Poultry production in the tropics. The poultry supply business is not prevalent in the province of Oriental Mindoro, that has a land area of 588,350 ha that supplies agriculture crops and livestock production, in addition to 286 registered business names, the plurality of which are linked to poultry supply. And one of the towns in Oriental Mindoro is recognized for producing agriculture and aquaculture. Rapid Application Method (RAD) is a software development methodology that emphasizes rapid prototyping through design. This type of testing modifies the software system before it is implemented. And Alpha testing was carried out by the Information Technology Practitioner. The system peTrace was ready for evaluation after several design and functionality issues were resolved. Purposive sampling was applied by the proponents this is to identify the 50 respondents so that the evaluators could have an accurate evaluation result. Information Technology Practitioners, store owners, staff, and clients were among those who responded. Owner, staff utilized the peTrace several times, testing its functionalities and verifying its usability. The proponents adapted the evaluation questionnaire using the ISO 25010 software quality criteria. To modify the five assessment criteria, ISO 25010 quality software standards were used. According to the assessment findings, peTrace is helpful and performs as predicted in terms of functional appropriateness (4.90), performance efficiency (4.85), usability (4.83), security (4.83), and maintainability (4.82). The peTrace system is broad in design, simple to maintain, and adaptable to any portable device independent of operating system, making it suited for any local Feed Store. For future growth, the assessors advise using real-time analysis. A good system will offer continuous monitoring with few, if any delays.

Business Development Strategy and Energy Analysis in the Manufacture of Agricultural Waste Bio-briquette in Post COVID-19 Pandemic

Objective: The existence of rice straw waste and wood sawdust is a potential that can be used as bio-briquettes to improve the community's economy. Agricultural waste is an environmentally friendly energy source that has contributed to one-tenth of primary energy consumption. Bio- briquettes have the opportunity to substitute fossil fuels by utilizing wasted biomass and increasing the economic empowerment of local communities. This research was conducted to examine business development strategies and energy produced by bio-briquettes from waste rice straws and wood sawdust.
 Methodology: Business development strategy analysis is carried out by forming farmer groups and branding for their businesses, and the production of bio-briquettes is carried out by carbonation and gluing methods.
 Results: Marketing and improvement of bio-briquette products are carried out by forming groups of farmers and creating their business names. This study found that the bio-briquette business has a positive influence on improving the local community's economy. The results of the research show that the bio-briquettes that have been made have the potential to become a business opportunity at the household level that has the quality that meets SNI 016235-2000.
 Implication: This research focuses on developing the household economy with a cause marketing strategy and provides an overview of briquette product marketing efforts that have the opportunity to substitute fossil fuels by utilizing wasted biomass and increasing the economic empowerment of the local community. This research was conducted to examine strategies for developing household businesses that are useful for business start- ups after COVID-19.

Dominance of Foreign Shop Names Over Arabic Names in Saudi Arabia: Promotional, Sociocultural and Globalization Issues

This article investigates the language choice in shop names in Saudi Arabia, and the factors that determine the language choice and the reasons for preferring English to Arabic names. A sample of 500 shop names in 12 cities was collected from a Saudi Mall Directory and analyzed. In addition, a sample of 75 students and instructors from the departments of languages, translation, education, computer science and business and 25 shop owners and workers were surveyed. It was found that 64% of the shops have foreign names (25% international foreign names and 39% local names); 24% have pure Arabic names and 12% have mixed names. Some shops with a foreign name add an Arabic descriptor which is a translation of the foreign name (Perfume (عطورات بارفيوم. Foreign names are used in some mall and shop names although Arabic equivalents exist. The students, faculty and shop owners and workers gave promotional, sociocultural, linguistic and globalization factors, and lack of a business naming policy. They indicated that foreign shop names are used as a marketing strategy to attract customers who prefer foreign merchandise to local ones. They think it is more glamorous to use a foreign name as foreign names are associated with modernity, prestige, and elitism. They can reach more customers. A foreign name gives the customer the impression that the store is keeping abreast of latest international markets. They faculty added that in our cognition, foreign names are connected with high quality. Our culture looks at English as more sophisticated and fancier. An English name has a different effect. Shop owners indicated that new entrepreneurs adopt a foreign name because they are worried about their ability to compete with other shops. Shops like to Imitate shops in the West. Some think that translating a shop name to Arabic creates a barrier between the customer and the foreign franchised company as the original name is in English. As an example, foreign names are used for promoting the Riyadh Season (Oasis, Winter Wonderland, Park Avenue (بوليفارد . The article gives recommendations for protecting the Arabic language, translating shop names, and choosing glamorous and attractive Arabic names.

‘Firm’ [Firma] in the Meaning of Polish Legal Language: The Business Name under which the Entrepreneur Operates in Legal and Economic Transactions, or an Entrepreneur [Przedsiębiorca]? Selected Comments on the (Un) Reasonableness of the Use of the Word ‘Firm’ [Firma] in Various Substantive Meanings

Abstract This article presents selected observations relating to the reasonableness of using the word ‘firm’ [Polish: firma] in various substantive meanings in Polish legal language. First, attention is drawn to the basic meaning of the word ‘firm’ [firma] in Polish legal language as a business name under which an entrepreneur [przedsiębiorca] operates in legal transactions, which is synthetically (briefly) distinguished from the meaning in Polish legal language, especially of the word ‘entrepreneur’ [przedsiębiorca]. It is then pointed out that in Polish legal and non-legal language, especially in everyday language and in the specialist language of economics and finance, as well as in management and quality sciences (including the language of practice of these areas of knowledge), a different meaning of the word ‘firm’ [firma] is adopted: while in Polish legal language it is understood as the business name of an entrepreneur, in the non-legal language of the above-mentioned areas it is understood as meaning an entrepreneur (also in the context of the meaning given to it in selected foreign languages). This is the background for pointing to the use of the word ‘firm’ [firma] in Polish legal language in the early 21st century not to define the business names of entrepreneurs conducting a strictly defined economic activity, but in a different sense – to define these entrepreneurs by introducing the concepts of an investment firm [firma inwestycyjna], a foreign investment firm [zagraniczna firma inwestycyjna] and an audit firm [firma audytorska], assessing these legislative changes as a significant systemic inconsistency and formulating conclusions in this regard.

The Influence of the Business Name on the Economic Performance of Family Firms: An Analysis According to the Generational Stage

A family identity of a firm, exhibited by the presence of the family name in the business name, can influence the value of economic profitability. The present analysis also explores if this relationship varies depending on the size and the generation running the business. The sample used to conduct this study comprises a panel data set of 21,149 Spanish family firms containing information from 2003 to 2015, which translates into a balanced database including 274,937 observations. For analysis purposes, the firms are classified into small, medium-sized and large ones. Contrary to the competitive advantages brought about by the family identity of the businesses highlighted by previous research, the current study suggests its negative effects on the profitability of small and medium-sized family firms. This effect is more acute when the company is managed by its founding generation. The findings in the case of large family firms indicate that the company name does not have an impact upon economic profitability.

Young Consumers’ Perceptions of Family Firms and Their Purchase Intentions—The Polish Experience

Although family-owned businesses have been widely investigated, the question of consumers’ perceptions of family firms is still worth more in-depth study. Drawing on the theories of family businesses and consumer behavior, this paper investigates the relationship between the consumers’ perceptions of family-owned enterprises and their purchasing decisions. Using a questionnaire, we surveyed 1069 young Polish consumers. Our findings demonstrate that young consumers’ convictions about family businesses are well-formed, despite their quite modest knowledge of these business entities. The vast majority of the survey participants were not able to provide any family business names. This implies that young consumers’ views on family businesses result from speculation or adoption of opinions that are dominant in a given society. To raise the level of awareness of their brands and transform consumers’ intentions into real purchasing behavior, family business entities need to intensify the educational significance of their promotional activities to help counteract the stereotypes about family businesses. The analysis presented here has important implications for current debates on whether the development of emotional relationships with family business entities and their brands is a suitable strategy to shape the purchasing attitudes towards the products made by family companies. The research findings could also form the basis for an extended study exploring what strategies family companies can implement in order to effectively shape young consumers’ perceptions about these firms. The research results can also serve as an aid for family firm owners and managers in rebuilding their client-oriented activities. The aforementioned knowledge can support family firm owners and managers in establishing effective marketing strategies. It also opens interesting avenues for further research.

Siberian Cedar in Russian Business Naming: A Case Study

Business naming is important in the modern economy, but it can differ between countries. This makes it urgent to pay attention to representative examples of business naming (to be distinguished from brand naming) from different countries. This case study focuses on the usage of Siberian cedar in the names of Russian firms. This huge tree from taiga forests is not a true cedar, but pine. The national database permits the identification of 87 organizations named after Siberian cedar. Their geographical distribution is mapped, and their relation to industries is established. It is found that the considered firms are registered in 19 regions of Russia. A total of 42% of these regions are not Siberian, and they host 18% of the firms. A total of 16 types of activities characterize the considered firms, and more than half of the industries are not related to the usage of this tree. Hypothetically, these findings can be explained by the general interest of Russians in Siberia and their awareness of Siberian cedar coupled with the symbolic potential of this tree, which is able to symbolize stability and power. The studied principle of business naming contributes to the environmental knowledge of the public.

The aim of the research under consideration is to identify the regional peculiarities of formation and functioning of Tyumen City proprietary names of businesses (commersonyms) with borrowed elements. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the analysis of the identified commersonyms, their formal and functional characteristics, the degree of decoding of the embedded information; determining the centres of geographical attraction of such units and the reasons for their localization. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the pragmatic value of a commersonym with borrowed components is determined by the ability of recipients to decode the information encoded in the proprietary name semantics at the stage of name creation.

Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have an important and strategic role to move the community's economy in conditions of economic crisis or pandemic. The sizeable absorption of MSMEs contributes to an increase in people's income which in turn reduces unemployment and poverty. MSMEs in Ulu Lakara village are still on the scale of Livelyhood Activity, and Micro Enterprise. One of the weaknesses of MSMEs at this scale is their low knowledge of product marketing. Marketing strategy has an important role for MSMEs to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. The solution that can be given is to provide training on product marketing strategies both offline and online marketing. This activity is expected to provide knowledge about the urgency of giving an attractive business name or product brand, knowledge of the basics in segmenting, targeting and positioning, knowledge of the marketing mix, to skills in marketing products online
