Stable N-acyl pyridinium and benzpyridinium salts as alkylating agents

The reaction of acyl chlorides with pyridinium bases and antimony pentachloride yields stable N-acyl salts that are efficient acylating agents. The kinetics of the reaction of N-acyl-pyridinium salts with p-nitroaniline was studied, and the reactivities of acylpyridinium cations and the ion pairs were determined.

Studies on bi-heterocyclic compounds. I. 6-Substituted dihydro-1,4-thiazinones.

Reactions of 5-methyl-2H-1, 4-thiazin-3 (4H) -one (4) with various N-acylpyridinium salts (7a-g) led to (N-acyldihydropyridyl) thiazinones (5a-g), oxidation of which yielded a new class of pyridylthiazinones (6a-g). These reactions were applied to the synthesis of other azaarylthiazinones. Some of these azaarylthiazinones, particularly 6- (4-pyridyl) thiazinones (6a, 14a and 14b) showed positive inotropic activity with little chronotropic effect on guinea pig left atria.

AbstractDas bekannte Verfahren zur Gewinnung von 2‐Phenyl‐4‐acyl‐5‐oxazolinon (IV) aus Hippursäure (I) und einem Carbonsäurechlorid (III) in γ‐Picolin über das 2‐Phenyl‐5‐oxazolinon (II) liefert nur dann befriedigende Ausbeuten, wenn das Säurechlorid (III) zu" der Lösung von (I) unter Zusatz von Trifluoressigsäure gegeben wird.

Synthesis of 2- phenyl-4-acyloxazolin-5-ones

1. A positive effect was found for trifluoroacetic acid, pripionic acid, and tetraethylammonium iodide on the formation of 2-phenyl-4-propionyloxazolin-5-one from propionyl chloride and hippuric acid inγ-picoline. 2. A preparative method was developed for the synthesis of 2-phenyl-4-acyloxazolin-5-ones using acid chlorides in benzene with subsequent O→C isomerization of the intermediate 2-phenyl-5-acyloxyoxazoles inγ-picoline in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid. 3. Reduced electrophilicity was found for N-acylpyridinium salts and 4-(pyridinium-1′-methyl)-5-δ-carbethoxyvaleryl)imidazolin-2-one.

Reaction of 2-methylpyrrolo[3,2-H]quinoline with N-acyl salts of heteroaromatic cations in situ

The reaction of pyrroloquinoline with N-acylpyridinium, N-acylquinolinium, N-acylisoquinolinium, and N-acylbenzimidazolium salts (formed as a result of the reaction with carboxylic acid chlorides), which leads to partially hydrogenated N-acyl derivatives of pyrroloquinoline, was investigated. The reaction of pyrroloquino-line with acridine hydrochloride, as a result of which its acridine derivative was obtained, was carried out.
