Peak-to-average power ratio minimization and complexity reduction in MIMO-OFDM systems using spatial circular shifting and temporal interleaving method

Multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(MIMO-OFDM) technological support for the simultaneous and frequent access by a large number of users to radio resources. For 5G cellular systems, this exhaust is not enough to provide physical layer services. An appropriate Peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) minimization principle, which maximizes data capacity and channel utility, has been used to address this issue. In this paper, mainly focus on minimize the high PAPR of the candidate sequence of the OFDM sub-block using modified enhancement asymmetric arithmetic coding scheme (M-EAAC). According to this, circular shifting of the candidate sequence is established in the spatial circular shifting and temporal interleaving (SCS-TI) form to generated different set of conjugated phases which is multiplied with candidate sequence. Then, the transmitting antenna is identified the best lowest PAPR of the candidate sequence is chosen for entire OFDM data transmission. The simulation results conveys that the proposed SCS-TI method provide acceptable improvement in the PAPR reduction as compared with conventional selective mapping(SLM)and pseudo-random SLM(PR-SLM). Moreover, the complexity evaluation which ensure the proposed method provides better improvement at three important stages includes inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) operation, optimization process, and PAPR calculation at each candidate sequence.

Sparse Reconstruction-Based Joint Signal Processing for MIMO-OFDM-IM Integrated Radar and Communication Systems

Multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) technology is widely used in integrated radar and communication systems (IRCSs). Moreover, index modulation (IM) is a reliable OFDM transmission scheme in the field of communication, which transmits information by arranging several distinguishable constellations. In this paper, we propose a sparse reconstruction-based joint signal processing scheme for integrated MIMO-OFDM-IM systems. Combining the advantages of MIMO and OFDM-IM technologies, the integrated MIMO-OFDM-IM signal design is realized through the reasonable allocation of bits and subcarriers, resulting in better intercarrier interference (ICI) resistance and a higher transmission efficiency. Taking advantage of the sparseness of OFDM-IM, an improved target parameter estimation method based on sparse signal reconstruction is explored to eliminate the influence of empty subcarriers on the matched filtering at the receiver side. In addition, an improved sequential Monte Carlo signal detection method is introduced to realize the efficient detection of communication signals. The simulation results show that the proposed integrated system is 5 dB lower in the peak sidelobe ratio (PSLR) and 1.5 ×105 lower in the number of complex multiplications than the latest MIMO-OFDM system and can achieve almost the same parameter estimation performance. With the same spectral efficiency, it has a lower bit error rate (BER) than existing methods.

Dynamic thresholding logarithmic companding for PAPR reduction in MIMO-OFDM systems for 5G wireless communication

In order to advance 5G wireless communication technology, this paper presents a novel method for lowering the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) in Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems. It is called the Dynamic Thresholding-based μ-law (DT-μ-law) logarithmic companding technique, and it greatly improves the performance of the system by effectively broadcasting data streams on a single frequency across multiple channels. This technique's ability lies in compressing the amplitude of the transmitting signal beyond a specific threshold value before the parallel-to-serial conversion block in the MIMO-OFDM system. It employs the direct insertion of an offset value into the guard bits, rather than using a step function for the amplitude reduction process, which can reduce additional system complexity and data loss during signal expansion at the receiver end. This technique is more adequately suited for dynamic data rate shifting and interference within a limited threshold value. The dynamic thresholding value (α) is determined by calculating the median and standard deviation of the μ-law companding. This ensures the effective compression of higher amplitude signals at the transmitter, using μ-law log companding. To streamline the decompanding process at the receiver, an offset is introduced, facilitating a smoother transition and reducing complexity. The results demonstrate that the proposed DT- μ-law companding technique significantly improves PAPR reduction while maintaining low Bit Error Rates (BER) and high average spectral power efficiency. This efficiency is optimal when the μ value is maintained within the range of 4–4.5. Furthermore, it was observed that an increase in the μ value corresponds to a decrease in both PAPR value and BER. Specifically, at a signal-to-noise ratio of 15.2 dB, the BER stabilizes at 10−1. Compared to existing methods like the Max-Min Decomp-SLM approach, this technique offers lower Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) values, thereby enhancing spectral efficiency and maximizing data capacity.

Modeling an Enhanced Modulation Classification Approach using Arithmetic Optimization with Deep Learning for MIMO-OFDM Systems

Abstract In a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) method, multiple antennas can be used on either the transmitter or receiver end to improve the system capacity, data throughput, and robustness. OFDM has been used as the modulation system that divides the data stream into multiple parallel low-rate subcarriers. MIMO enhances the system by utilizing spatial diversity and multiplexing abilities. Modulation classification in the MIMO-OFDM systems describes the process of recognizing the modulation scheme used by the communicated signals in a MIMO-OFDM communication system. This is a vital step in receiver design as it enables proper demodulation of the received signals. In this paper, an Enhanced Modulation Classification Approach using an Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm with Deep Learning (EMCA-AOADL) is developed for MIMO-OFDM systems. The goal of the presented EMCAAOADL technique is to detect and classify different types of modulation signals that exist in MIMO-OFDM systems. To accomplish this, the EMCA-AOADL technique performs a feature extraction process based on the Sevcik Fractal Dimension (SFD). For modulation classification, the EMCA-AOADL technique uses a Convolution Neural Network with Long Short-Term Memory (CNN-LSTM) approach. Finally, the hyperparameter values of the CNN-LSTM algorithm can be chosen by using AOA. To highlight the better recognition result of the EMCA-AOADL approach, a comprehensive range of simulations was performed. The simulation values illustrate the better results of the EMCA-AOADL algorithm.

A novel iterative detection method based on a lattice reduction-aided algorithm for MIMO OFDM systems

The lattice reduction-aided algorithm has received broad attention from researchers since it operates as a maximum likelihood receiver with better system performance for multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems and contains a full diversity. A novel iterative detection algorithm canceling parallel iterations that employ the lattice reduction-aided approach is proposed. Soft information is exchanged through the detector itself. Its iteration occurs inside the detector, which reduces much of the exchange cost between the multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing detector and the turbo decoder. Since the parallel interference cancellation algorithm is constrained by the accuracy of the initial value of the detection, it is easy to form error propagation after several iterations. Due to the lattice reduction-aided algorithm, its performance is approximated with the maximum likelihood algorithm. Therefore, the lattice reduction-aided algorithm is introduced into the parallel interference cancellation algorithm to make its detection algorithm more accurate and overcome the effect of error propagation in the manuscript. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm leads to an improvement of 0.8–2 dB when the bit error rate is set to 10–4 when compared to other algorithms.

Ultra-reliable intelligent link scheduling based on DRL for manned/unmanned aerial vehicle cooperative scenarios

When manned/unmanned aerial vehicle (MAV–UAV) perform cooperative missions in complex and variable situations, the communication link between manned aerial vehicle (MAV) and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) must be extremely dependable to guarantee the reliable transfer of command and control information. To address the above issues, this study provides an intelligent link scheduling algorithm based on MAVlink protocol that leverages deep reinforcement learning (DRL) for highly reliable communication in MAV–UAV multiple input multiple output-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) communication systems. This algorithm combines a deep neural network (DNN) with a Q-learning (QL) algorithm to get a deep Q-network (DQN). The downlink communication link between MAV and UAV uses it to intelligently schedule the modulation and coding scheme (MCS) and the number of spatial multiplexing layers. Results from system simulations indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms other representative scheduling algorithms in the communication between MAV and UAV in complex scenarios with high-speed movement and large noise interference, improving the reliability of communication in MAV–UAV cooperative missions.

CSI-based WIFI Device Identification Solution

In recent years, wireless devices such as WIFI routers have become increasingly common in various fields. Rogue access point (RAP) is one of the threats that has persisted in wireless LAN (WLAN) for many years and can cause varying degrees of property damage and privacy leaks. In response to these threats, we propose a new security mechanism, called Rdi, which uses environment-independent features extracted from channel state information (CSI) as fingerprints for device identification. We found that the phase errors between multiple antennas on a single MIMO-OFDM (Multiple Input Multiple Output-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) transmitter are not the same. This phase offset is due to the I/Q imbalance and imperfect oscillator of each WiFi network card, and it will not change with factors such as environment and time. Therefore, we inferred and verified that there must be some relationship between the phase errors of multiple groups of antennas, that is, the relative phase error (RPE). In addition, RPE will also vary with different WiFi devices. Compared with some similar fingerprint detection methods in the past, the use of specific connections between group phase errors between antennas can better reveal the different attributes between devices, thereby enhancing the uniqueness of features. Therefore, we believe that RPE can be used as an effective fingerprint to detect RAP attacks. We conduct a large number of experimental demonstrations on this, and innovatively built a multi-modal convolutional neural network (CNN) model to perform efficient classification work for our solution. Experiments on 22 WiFi devices and various scenarios show that the detection rate of Rdi can reach more than 98% in both dynamic and static device states.

Performance optimization and parameters estimation for MIMO-OFDM dual-functional communication-radar systems

Dual-function communication radar systems use common Radio Frequency (RF) signals are used for both communication and detection. For better compatibility with existing communication systems, we adopt Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signals as integrated signals and investigate the estimation performance of MIMO-OFDM signals. First, we analyze the Cramer-Rao Lower Bound (CRLB) of parameter estimation. Then, the transmit powers over different subcarriers are optimized to achieve the best tradeoff between the transmission rate and the estimation performance. Finally, we propose a more accurate estimation method that uses Canonical Polyadic Decomposition (CPD) of the third-order tensor to obtain the parameter matrices. Due to the characteristic of the column structure of the parameter matrices, we only need to use DFT / IDFT to recover the parameters of multiple targets. The simulation results show that tensor-based estimation method can achieve a performance close to CRLB, and the estimation performance can be improved by optimizing the transmit powers.

Enhancing channel estimation accuracy in polar-coded MIMO–OFDM systems via CNN with 5G channel models

In this paper, a novel channel estimation technique for multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (MIMO–OFDM) systems in fifth generation (5G) networks is proposed, which leverages the power of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) along with the application of polar coding. By employing polar encoding at the transmitter and polar decoding at the receiver, the proposed system enhances error correction performance, reliability, and data transmission rate in 5G networks. A novel optimized CNN-based channel estimation technique, named CNN-CENet, has been integrated into the polar-coded MIMO–OFDM receiver. This integration aims to address the interference and noise challenges in 5G systems. The proposed channel estimation method utilizes multiple layers of CNN to accurately characterize the properties of the real channel by incorporating least squares (LS) estimations. Hence, the proposed CNN-CENet provides an accurate estimation of the channel coefficients, enabling efficient signal detection at the receiver. The MATLAB simulation has been conducted using deep learning and 5G toolboxes to obtain results for various channel parameters. These results are then compared with the LS and minimum mean square error (MMSE) methods for performance evaluation. The proposed model surpasses the performance of the LS and MMSE methods, achieving a significant 95.6% reduction in mean square error (MSE) compared to LS and a substantial 59.7% reduction compared to MMSE. Additionally, it delivers notable bit error rate (BER) reductions of 59.8% and 53.2% for LS and MMSE, respectively, in low mobility scenarios, and 57.4% and 48.5% reductions in high mobility scenarios. This improvement leads to enhanced reliability and overall system efficiency.

Channel Estimation for LEO Satellite Massive MIMO OFDM Communications

In this paper, we investigate the massive multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing channel estimation for low-earth-orbit satellite communication systems. First, we use the angle-delay domain channel to characterize the space-frequency domain channel. Then, we show that the asymptotic minimum mean square error (MMSE) of the channel estimation can be minimized if the array response vectors of the user terminals (UTs) that use the same pilot are orthogonal. Inspired by this, we design an efficient graph-based pilot allocation strategy to enhance the channel estimation performance. In addition, we devise a novel two-stage channel estimation (TSCE) approach, in which the received signals at the satellite are manipulated with per-subcarrier space domain processing followed by per-user frequency domain processing. Moreover, the space domain processing of each UT is shown to be identical for all the subcarriers, and an asymptotically optimal vector for the per-subcarrier space domain linear processing is derived. The frequency domain processing can be efficiently implemented by means of the fast Toeplitz system solver. Simulation results show that the proposed TSCE approach can achieve a near performance to the MMSE estimation with much lower complexity.

Viewing Channel as Sequence Rather Than Image: A 2-D Seq2Seq Approach for Efficient MIMO-OFDM CSI Feedback

In this paper, we aim to design an effective learning-based channel state information (CSI) feedback scheme for the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems from a physics-inspired perspective. We first argue that the CSI matrix of a MIMO-OFDM system is physically closer to a two-dimensional (2-D) sequence rather than an image due to its apparent unsmoothness, non-scalability, and translational variance within both the spatial and frequency domains. On this basis, we introduce a 2-D long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network to represent the CSI and propose a 2-D sequence-to-sequence (Seq2Seq) model for CSI compression and reconstruction. Specifically, one two-layer 2-D LSTM is used for CSI feature extraction, and the other is used for CSI representation and reconstruction. The proposed scheme can not only fully utilize the unique 2-D characteristics of CSI but also preserve the index information and unsmooth features of the CSI matrix compared with current convolutional neural network (CNN) based schemes. We show that the computational complexity of the proposed scheme is linear in the number of transmit antennas and subcarriers. Its key performances, like reconstruction accuracy, convergence speed, generalization ability after short-term training, and robustness to lossy feedback, are comprehensively compared with existing popular convolutional networks. Experimental results show that our scheme can bring up to nearly 7 dB gain in reconstruction accuracy under the same overhead and reduce feedback overhead by up to 75% under the same accuracy compared with the conventional CNN-based approaches.

Superposed three-dimensional 64QAM constellation design for MIMO-OFDM visible light communication systems.

Multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) has been widely used to improve data rate in visible-light communication (VLC) systems. However, the high correlation of channels restricts the application of MIMO. A superposed constellation, combined with MIMO, can achieve considerable diversity gain even in highly correlated MIMO channels. In this study, what we believe to be novel superposed three-dimensional 64-quadrature amplitude modulation (3D-64QAM) constellation schemes are proposed for MIMO-OFDM VLC systems. First, a superposed 3D-64QAM constellation scheme using two transmitted light emitting diodes (LEDs) is proposed, where two independent signals with 3D-4QAM and 3D-16QAM modulation formats are superposed to form a 3D-64QAM signal at the receiver. Then, for what we believe is the first time, we expand the superposed constellation solution to three-LED application scenarios, wherein the 3D-64QAM constellation is superposed by three different 3D-4QAM constellations. Both schemes benefit from a higher minimum Euclidean distance of 3D-64QAM constellation, 1.67 times that of traditional two-dimensional (2D) 64QAM constellation. Meanwhile, the equal-power superposition design of transmitted signals reduces the nonlinearity of LEDs and power competition of photodiodes. Moreover, the three-LED scheme further improves the transmitted power without increasing the risk of nonlinear distortion. To improve spectral efficiency and reduce complexity, we also propose a 3D OFDM modulation scheme. The superposed 3D-64QAM schemes are first studied through theoretical analysis and computer simulation. Then, an experimental demonstration is established to investigate the system performance comprehensively. Experimental results prove that the superposed 3D-64QAM constellation schemes achieve a superior bit error rate (BER) performance than the traditional superposed 2D-64QAM constellation scheme. Compared with two-LED scheme, the three-LED scheme not only obtains a lower BER, but also improves the dynamic range of driving peak-to-peak voltage significantly.

PAPR Suppression for Angular-Domain-Based Massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing System

In this paper, the precoding-based peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction methods are studied for the massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system in the angular domain. The expectation maximization generalized approximate message passing algorithm and the proposed optimized alternating direction method of multipliers (OADMM) scheme are adopted here to explore the system characteristics in terms of the symbol error ratio (SER) performance, the PAPR reduction efficiency, and the inter user interference (IUI). Specifically, the high PAPR problem is reduced to no more than 0.18 dB by using the inherent property of the massive MIMO-OFDM angle division multiple access (ADMA) system with relatively reduced computational complexity. Moreover, the value of SER is around 10−5 dB when the proposed technique is performed. Computer numerical simulation results verify the efficiency of the proposed technique from the perspective of SER, PAPR suppression, and IUI.

Theoretical Foundation and Design Guideline for Reservoir Computing-Based MIMO-OFDM Symbol Detection

In this paper, we derive a theoretical upper bound on the generalization error of reservoir computing (RC), a special category of recurrent neural networks (RNNs). The specific RC implementation considered in this paper is the echo state network (ESN), and an upper bound on its generalization error is derived via the empirical Rademacher complexity (ERC) approach. While recent work in deriving risk bounds for RC frameworks makes use of a non-standard ERC measure and a direct application of its definition, our work uses the standard ERC measure and tools allowing fair comparison with conventional RNNs. The derived result shows that the generalization error bound obtained for ESNs is tighter than the existing bound for vanilla RNNs, suggesting easier generalization for ESNs. With the ESN applied to symbol detection in MIMO-OFDM (Multiple Input Multiple Output-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) systems, we show how the derived generalization error bound can guide underlying system design. Specifically, the derived bound together with the empirically characterized training loss is utilized to identify the optimum reservoir size in neurons for the ESN-based symbol detector. Finally, we corroborate our theoretical findings with results from simulations that employ 3GPP standards-compliant wireless channels, signifying the practical relevance of our work.

Reliability Achievement of MIMO-OFDM Communication Systems

Wireless communication must have high spectral efficacy and the ability to resist fading channel in an environment of channel multipath, and it is difficult to achieve these requirements with traditional modulation techniques, but the Multiple system Input Multiple Output-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) It can fulfill these requirements. Research offers a way to improve the performance of OFDM- MIMO system by decreasing the Bit Error Rate (BER) using both (DWT) Discrete Wavelet Transform and Convolutional Coding (CC). The OFDM system is modeled with a single antenna at the transmitting end and a single antenna at the receiving end (DWT) . Multiple Input Single Output (MISO) By adding a second antenna at the transmitting end, and then improving it with Output Multiple Input Single technology SIMO (by adding a second antenna at the receiving end, and with MIMO technology by adding a second antenna at the receiving end The transmitter and a second antenna at the receiving end, thus optimizing the OFDM-MIMO system using convolution coding, Then using DWT instead of FFT (Fast Fourier Transform ). The research is based on the study of BER according to bit energy to noise energy density N0/Eb. The system was modeled and tested using the MATLAB program. The use of (DWT) and (CC) in OFDM-MIMO reduces N0/Eb )4.7( dB times in the item of the Rician fading channel and 3.2 dB times in the item of the Rayleigh fading channel when BER =10-3.

MmWave 6D Radio Localization With a Snapshot Observation From a Single BS

Accurate and ubiquitous localization is crucial for a variety of applications such as logistics, navigation, intelligent transport, monitoring, control, and also for the benefit of communications. Exploiting millimeter-wave (mmWave) signals in 5G and Beyond 5G systems can provide accurate localization with limited infrastructure. We consider the single base station (BS) localization problem and extend it to 3D position and 3D orientation estimation of an unsynchronized multi-antenna user equipment (UE), using downlink multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) signals. Through a Fisher information analysis, we show that the problem is often identifiable, provided that there is at least one multipath component in addition to the line-of-sight (LoS), even if the position of corresponding incidence point (IP) is a priori unknown. Subsequently, we pose a maximum likelihood (ML) estimation problem, to jointly estimate the 3D position and 3D orientation of the UE as well as several nuisance parameters (the UE clock offset and the positions of IPs corresponding to the multipath). The ML problem is a high-dimensional nonconvex optimization problem over a product of Euclidean and non-Euclidean manifolds. To avoid complex exhaustive search procedures, we propose a geometric initial estimate of all parameters, which reduces the problem to a 1-dimensional search over a finite interval. Numerical results show the efficiency of the proposed ad-hoc estimation, whose gap to the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) is tightened using the ML estimation.

Hybrid Message Passing Channel Estimation Algorithm for Massive MIMO-OFDM Systems

In this letter, we propose the Bernoulli two-state Gaussian mixture (B-TSGM) probability model to characterize the angle-delay domain (ADD) channel of the massive multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system. Based on the hybrid message passing (HMP) rule, we design the HMP-B-TSGM channel estimation algorithm under the structured turbo-compressed sensing (STCS) framework. Simulation results show that the considered model better captures the channel characteristics, and the proposed algorithm outperforms the state-of-the-art methods under a wide range of simulation settings while having the same complexity.

Single-RF MIMO-OFDM Using ESPAR

A novel beamspace multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission system using a single-radio-frequency (RF) electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) is described. It makes use of recent results for decomposing the patterns of any arbitrary ESPAR onto an orthogonal basis set using the Theory of Characteristic Modes (TCM). Leveraging this decomposition, OFDM symbols can be mapped into the beamspace domain so that the ESPAR can be used to transmit multiple streams of OFDM symbols using a single RF chain. In the proposed approach, we use the Linde-Buzo-Gray (LBG) algorithm to quantize the OFDM symbol vectors and form a codebook. A binary search tree is then utilized to efficiently find the reactive loads of ESPAR to excite the radiation patterns corresponding to the quantized symbols. It is shown by simulation that quantized codewords and the corresponding radiation patterns can be excited using ESPAR. In addition, the simulated bit error rate (BER) results of the proposed approach are shown to be close to that of conventional MIMO-OFDM systems, demonstrating the effectiveness of implementing a single-RF MIMO-OFDM transmitter.

Turbo-Coded Mimo-OFDM Channel Estimation Using the Chaotic Grey Wolf Optimizer and Genetic Algorithm

Turbo-Coded multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing Channel Estimation, using Chaotic Grey Wolf Optimizer and the Genetic Algorithm (TC-MIMO-OFDM-Hybrid-CGWO-GA), is proposed in this manuscript. To enhance the performance of the bit error rate (BER), the proposed turbo code lessens the maximal correlation of the channel in the frequency domain. Initially, the channel is estimated using LS-MMSE individually using Chaotic Grey Wolf Optimizer (CGWO) and the LS-MMSE is combined with a genetic algorithm to scale the best channel for reducing the error. The encoding and decoding methods are done with the help of Turbo-codes for LS channel estimation. Then, the performance of the proposed method is analyzed with different performance metrics, such as the bit error rate, mean square error, channel estimation, computational cost, overhead, and symbol error rate. From the analysis, the proposed method attains lower computational costs of 99.67%, 98.38%, 92.34% and 97.45%, lower bit error rates of 98.33%, 89.34%, 83.12% and 88.96% and lower mean square errors of 93.15%, 91.25%, 79.90% and 92.88% analyzed to the existing methods, such as TSO-CE-TC-MIMO-OFDM, MFPA-CE-MIMO-OFDM, OSBS-CEA-MIMO-OFDM, and IAMO-CE-MIMO-OFDM.

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), confirmed as an efficient technique, has been applied in optical wireless communications (OWCs) to improve the transmission rate. However, the disadvantage of high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) also brings into the OWC systems, especially for multi-user communications, resulting in low power efficiency. This paper proposes beam domain MIMO-OFDM OWCs with PAPR reduction. We describe the MIMO-OFDM OWC system architecture and derive the achievable sum rate and PAPR for multi-user OFDM systems, which are dominated by the precoding vectors. To reduce the PAPR, we design the precoding vectors to maximize the sum rate under the PAPR constraint. We propose an iterative process to obtain a candidate optimal solution by the sequential parametric convex approximation (SPCA) method. Furthermore, we prove that the PAPR increases with the number of users and propose a low complexity beam scheduling and power allocation algorithm. Numerical results validate that the proposed schemes can efficiently improve the transmission rate and reduce the PAPR.
