A 45-year-old female patient known case of sarcoidosis presented in skin department with chief complaint of skin-colored papulonodular lesions over face with exacerbation in summer season since last 4 years. On examination lesions were multiple, firm and skin colored. Biopsy was done showing features of eccrine hidrocystoma. Patient was treated with electrocautery and showed improvement.

Topical 0.03% atropine vs. 15% aluminum chloride in treating multiple eccrine hidrocystomas: A randomized single blind controlled study

Background:Multiple eccrine hidrocystomas pose a significant treatment challenge due to their facial location and tendency to scar after traditional surgical and other destructive modalities.Aims:To compare two frequently used non-destructive therapeutic modalities.Materials and Methods:Thirty patients with multiple eccrine hidrocystomas were enrolled in the study. They used topical 0.03% Atropine cream and 15% AlCl3 solution on left and right sides of their face randomly for 4 weeks. All the patients were visited before commencing the therapy as well as two and four weeks later by a dermatologist, blinded to the drugs and the number of lesions.Results:Twenty nine patients (25 females, four males) completed the study. The mean reduction in the number of lesions was significantly higher with Atropine cream in comparison with AlCl3 solution, 10.2±7.4 vs. 6.2±5.3 (P < 0.05). There were no recurrences after three months follow-up in both groups.Conclusion:It seems that both Atropine and AlCl3 are useful therapies in eccrine hidrocytomas but the former might be more effective. We think that other randomized clinical trials with larger sample sizes are needed.

Therapeutic Hotline: Topical glycopyrrolate: a successful treatment for craniofacial hyperhidrosis and eccrine hidrocystomas

Eccrine hidrocystoma is a benign tumor derived from eccrine sudoriparous glands. Most eccrine hidrocystomas are solitary and asymptomatic lesions. Multiple hidrocystomas are unusual and have been associated with Graves' disease, Parkinson's disease, and idiopathic craniofacial hyperhidrosis. This report describes the successful treatment of multiple center facial eccrine hidrocystomas associated with craniofacial hyperhidrosis with 0.5% glycopyrrolate aqueous solution applied locally for 1 week. The present authors obtained a very significant improvement without leaving any trace of clinical examination. Multiple eccrine hidrocystomas are a rare condition and, to date, no effective treatment has been reported. Topical glycopyrrolate is a very good first-line treatment option.

Eccrine Hidrocystoma in a Child: An Atypical Presentation

Eccrine hidrocystomas are small benign cystic lesions that normally affect only adult females. Eccrine hidrocystoma is characterized by tense vesicles that are predominately located on the face and particularly on the periorbital areas. Histologically, eccrine hidrocystoma consists of one or more partially collapsed unilocular cysts in the dermis, and these cysts are often situated adjacent to normal eccrine ducts. An 8-year-old boy presented with multiple skin-colored to bluish tiny papules on his nose. Histopathologically, the dilated partial cystic structures in the middermis were lined by one or two layers of flattened or cuboidal epithelial cells. We report here on an atypical presentation of multiple eccrine hidrocystomas that were localized on the nose of a child.

BackgroundMultiple eccrine hidrocystomas of de upper lip are bening cystic lesions that are associated with a chronic course. It is reported in the literature as a rare pathology.Case reportWe describe the case of a 60-year-old woman who was referred to the dermatology department for presenting multiple lesions translucent papular asymptomic two years of evolution on the upper lip. Increase in size in summer and physical exercise, improving winter.ConclusionTo make the diagnosis of multiple eccrine hidrocystomas is necessary clinical and histopathological findings, taking different lines of treatment.

La toxine botulique dans les maladies dermatologiques invalidantes

Botulinum toxin could represent nowadays a new treatment modality especially for cutaneous conditions in course of which conventional treatments remain unsuccessful. Besides palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis, botulinum toxin has demonstrated efficacy in different conditions associated with hyperhidrosis, such as dyshidrosis, multiple eccrine hidrocystomas, hidradenitis suppurativa, Frey syndrome, but also in different conditions worsened by hyperhidrosis such as Hailey-Hailey disease, Darier disease, inversed psoriasis, aquagenic palmoplantar keratoderma, pachyonychia congenital. Moreover, different cutaneous conditions associated with sensitive disorders and/or neurological involvements could benefit from botulinum toxin, for example anal fissures, leg ulcers, lichen simplex, notalgia paresthetica, vestibulitis. Endly, a case of cutis laxa was described where the patient was improved by cutaneous injections of botulinum toxin.

BACKGROUND Multiple eccrine hidrocystomas are benign cystic lesions that are associated with a chronic course and seasonal variability. Even though in the literature it is presented as a very infrequent pathology, we think this is more a lack of knowledge of the existence of said pathology and the fact that patients confuse it with comedo. OBJECTIVE To treat multiple eccrine hidrocystomas of the face. RESULTS We present a case of multiple eccrine hidrocystomas of the face in a cook man. Hidrocystoma is a benign cystic tumor of the sweat glands eccrine or apocrine. Multiple eccrine hidrocystomas are benign cystic lesions that are associated with a chronic course and seasonal variability. They appear like multiple shining small papule. Although a solitary eccrine hidrocystoma can be treated easily with surgical excision, the elimination of multiple lesions is problematic because of their number and location. CONCLUSION The benefits of BTX-A treatment for multiple eccrine hidrocystomas include ease of application, no risk of scarring, and a good postoperative course. Because of the blockage produced by BTX-A on cholinergic terminals of the parasympathetic system that governs sweat glands secretion, it is suggested that periodic doses of BTX-A are injected in the superficial epidermis in order to treat multiple eccrine hidrocystomas.
