This paper discusses the multiscale asymptotic expansion for combustion system with composite materials or porous media in thermal protection system. The combustion system consists of two nonlinear equations with rapidly oscillating coefficients, which are posed on a time-varying domain and computationally expensive to solve with the finite element method. To efficiently solve this system, we propose the standard/novel multiscale asymptotic expansions by combining them with boundary layer solutions. Numerical simulation is performed to validate the accuracy and efficiency of the newly proposed methods, which show that the novel multiscale asymptotic expansion is more accurate than the standard one.
