Multi-attribute decision making method based on the generalised spherical fuzzy Heronian operators

Traditional fuzzy decision-making methods still have certain limitations in practical applications, such as the problem of the sum of attribute memberships and non-memberships possibly exceeding 1. Additionally, due to the attributes in real decision-making processes often not being mutually independent but rather exhibiting a certain degree of correlation, traditional fuzzy decision-making methods may not fully capture and express this complexity. To overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a new multi-attribute decision-making method addressing the problem of integrating information with correlated attributes in the generalized spherical fuzzy environment. Initially, by combining the generalized spherical fuzzy set with the Heronian averaging operator, the paper introduces the generalized spherical fuzzy weighted Heronian averaging operator and thoroughly discusses some valuable properties of both operators, providing corresponding proofs. Furthermore, the paper proposes the multi-attribute decision-making method using the generalized spherical fuzzy weighted Heronian averaging operator, enriching not only the theoretical framework of multi-attribute decision-making methods but also offering more possibilities for practical applications. Finally, the application of this method in the field of commercial bank lending decision-making will be further explored to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of credit decisions, reduce risks, and promote the healthy development of the banking industry.

Optimal Parking Space Selection and Vehicle Driving Decision for Autonomous Parking System Based on Multi-Attribute Decision

Autonomous parking systems (APSs) can help drivers complete the task of finding a parking space and the parking operation, which improves driving comfort. Current research on APSs focus on the perception, localization, planning, and control modules, while few pay attention to the decision modules. This paper proposes a method for optimal parking space selection and vehicle driving decisions. In terms of selecting the optimal parking space, a multi-attribute decision method is designed considering the type of parking space, walking distance, and other factors. In terms of vehicle driving decisions, we first predict the behavior and trajectory of the target vehicle in a specific scenario, and then use a combination of rule-based and learning-based decision methods for safe and comfortable vehicle driving behavior decisions. Simulation results show that the proposed methods can find the optimal parking space according to the parking lot map and improve the efficiency and smoothness of vehicle driving while ensuring driving safety.

Multi-Attribute Decision-Making Method Based on Dispersion Maximization and its Practical Application

Multi-attribute decision making is an important part of modern decision science, which has wide and practical applications in engineering design, economy, management, military and other fields. This paper first introduces the theory and sequencing steps of multi-attribute decision making method based on deviation maximization, and then makes specific application to the example of civil servant recruitment in government departments by using MATLAB programming. It makes the operation process of recruitment work clear and clear, and realizes scientific, normative and fair.

Text Mining and Multi-Attribute Decision-Making-Based Course Improvement in Massive Open Online Courses

As the leading platform of online education, MOOCs provide learners with rich course resources, but course designers are still faced with the challenge of how to accurately improve the quality of courses. Current research mainly focuses on learners’ emotional feedback on different course attributes, neglecting non-emotional content as well as the costs required to improve these attributes. This limitation makes it difficult for course designers to fully grasp the real needs of learners and to accurately locate the key issues in the course. To overcome the above challenges, this study proposes an MOOC improvement method based on text mining and multi-attribute decision-making. Firstly, we utilize word vectors and clustering techniques to extract course attributes that learners focus on from their comments. Secondly, with the help of some deep learning methods based on BERT, we conduct a sentiment analysis on these comments to reveal learners’ emotional tendencies and non-emotional content towards course attributes. Finally, we adopt the multi-attribute decision-making method TOPSIS to comprehensively consider the emotional score, attention, non-emotional content, and improvement costs of the attributes, providing course designers with a priority ranking for attribute improvement. We applied this method to two typical MOOC programming courses—C language and Java language. The experimental findings demonstrate that our approach effectively identifies course attributes from reviews, assesses learners’ satisfaction, attention, and cost of improvement, and ultimately generates a prioritized list of course attributes for improvement. This study provides a new approach for improving the quality of online courses and contributes to the sustainable development of online course quality.

Evidential-Reasoning-Type Multi-Attribute Large Group Decision-Making Method Based on Public Satisfaction

To address public participation-oriented, large group decision-making problems with uncertain attribute weights, we propose a multi-attribute decision-making method considering public satisfaction. Firstly, a large group is organized to provide their opinions in the form of linguistic variables. Public opinions can be categorized into two types based on their content: one reflects the effectiveness of an alternative implementation and the other reflects the public expectations. Secondly, the two types of public opinions are sorted separately by linguistic variables. The evaluation of alternatives and the evaluation of expectations in different attributes are determined, both of which are expressed in the form of linguistic distributions. These two evaluations are then compared to determine the public satisfaction of the attributes in different alternatives. Thirdly, based on the deviation of public satisfaction in different attributes, a weight optimization model is constructed to determine the attribute weights. Fourthly, leveraging the interval credibility of attribute satisfaction for various alternatives, an evidential reasoning non-linear optimization model is established to obtain the comprehensive utility evaluation value for each alternative, which is used for ranking. Finally, a numerical example is employed to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach. According to the results of the numerical example, it can be concluded that the proposed approach can be effectively applied to large group decision-making problems that consider public satisfaction. Based on the comparison of methods, the proposed approach has certain advantages in reflecting public opinions and setting reference points, which can ensure the reliability of the decision results.

Multi-attribute decision-making analysis based on the bipolar N-soft PROMETHEE method

The multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) methods can deeply mine hidden information in data and make a more reliable decision with actual needs and human cognition. For this reason, this paper proposes the bipolar N-soft PROMETHEE (preference ranking organization method for enrichment of evaluation) method. The method fully embodies the advantages of the PROMETHEE method, which can limit the unconditional compensation between attribute values and effectively reflect the priority between attribute values. Further, by introducing an attribute threshold to filter research objects, the proposed method not only dramatically reduces the amount of computation but also considers the impact of the size of the attribute value itself on decision-making. Secondly, the paper proposes the concepts of attribute praise, attribute popularity, total praise, and total popularity for the first time, fully mining information from bipolar N-soft sets, which can effectively handle situations where attribute values have different orders of magnitude. In addition, this paper presents the decision-making process of the new method, closely integrating theoretical models with real life. Finally, this paper analyses and compares the proposed method with the existing ones, further verifying the effectiveness and flexibility of the proposed method.

Multi-attribute decision-making research on investment suitability assessment of hydropower-wind-photovoltaic-storage complementary system based on dynamic social network

The hydropower-wind-photovoltaic-storage (HWPS) complementary system is one of the essential ways for China to build a new type of power system and to realize the dual-carbon goal. However, China's HWPS complementary system is still in the exploratory stage, and it is important to propose a rational multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) framework for investment suitability assessment based on completed hydropower plants. Therefore, this study first established a limitation indicator system for preliminary screening hydropower plants and an HWPS investment suitability assessment indicator system containing six dimensions: nature, market, infrastructure, land, society, and environment. Second, the weights among experts were determined based on the dynamic social network, and a mechanism for updating expert weights was proposed. Again, triangular intuitionistic fuzzy number (TIFN) was used to quantify the qualitative indicators and combined the weights according to the best-worst method (BWM) and criteria importance through intercriteria correlation (CRITIC) methods. Finally, the TODIM (an acronym in Portuguese for interactive and MADM) method was used for scheme suitability assessment with sensitivity analysis and method comparison. The results show that 62 eligible hydropower plants were preliminarily screened out of 647 completed medium- and large-scale hydropower plants in China by combining GIS technology. Natural factors are the most important of the six dimensions, followed by social factors. According to the suitability assessment results of TODIM, #23 hydropower station has the highest suitability for HWPSCS investment, which provides a reference for the layout of China's HWPS complementary system. With different decision makers' risk preferences and different MADM methods, #23 hydropower plant is still the best investment option, which proves the effectiveness of the MADM framework proposed in this study.

Enhancing Employee Motivation: A TOPSIS-Based Decision Support System for Incentive Allocation through Performance Evaluation

Information technology is developing rapidly and has a significant role in various aspects, one of which is making decisions to evaluate employee performance. Employee performance assessment is an important activity and is often carried out by companies to determine employee performance in a certain period. A company's progress is greatly influenced by the good and bad of the system that is running. The decision support system can improve and influence the assessment of existing performance in the company. If the decision support system is inadequate, it can lead to errors in decision-making. This research was conducted at PT. App Inti provides enthusiasm and motivation to employees, and the company performs performance assessments every six months, which will influence the adjustment of employee salary increases. However, the current assessment process still uses simple methods and often experiences difficulties assessing performance, making the assessments less effective. Because errors and inaccuracies often occur during assessments, to make it easier for companies to make decisions and help solve these problems, a decision support system was designed using the TOPSIS method. The TOPSIS is a multi-attribute decision-making method often used to complete practical decisions. Then, the results can be considered and help the company determine a decision based on the alternatives and criteria that the company has decided. Then, the results of this research can help companies determine which employees are more visible during the assessment. Multi-Attribute Decision-Making Method in Preventive Maintenance of Asphalt Pavement Based on Optimized Triangular Fuzzy Number

By choosing the right pavement maintenance plan, we can reduce resource utilization, reduce environmental pollution, and extend road life, which is important for improving social sustainability. At present, the selection of road maintenance programs mostly adopts multiple attribute decision-making (MADA), in particular, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is often used. However, this method needs to use expert scoring data, which leads to strong subjectivity and poor reliability. Therefore, it reduces the science of road maintenance scheme selection. In order to reduce the subjectivity of the score and obtain a more suitable road maintenance scheme, this paper applies a multi-criteria decision-making method that characterizes attribute information by triangular fuzzy numbers (TFN) in the discrete decision space. Firstly, we invite experts to score the importance of the selection of pavement preventive maintenance technical solutions with respect to the indicators affecting the selection of solutions. Secondly, the two indicators of similarity and reliability are used to quantitatively evaluate the indicators and programs, respectively. Finally, we compare the weighted programs according to the overall possibility degree of each program. In actual cases, the overall possibility degree of each scheme obtained by this method is 1.0002–0.0477, and the optimal solution is fog sealing technology. The decision-making model applied in this paper can be considered in multiple dimensions, which can scientifically reduce the subjectivity of expert scoring. The best maintenance plan can also be quickly obtained through the simple calculation method in this paper.

An Ecology-Oriented Single–Multi-Objective Optimal Operation Modeling and Decision-Making Method in the Case of the Ganjiang River

Hydro power has provided significant economic benefits to society due to its cleanliness and convenience. As the number of hydropower stations has increased, many serious ecological issues have also emerged. This study uses Wan’an Reservoir as its research object and investigates single–multi-objective optimal operation and decision-making regarding reservoirs for ecology-oriented operation, to meet ecological water demand and seek the optimal operation schemes for energy generation and ecological benefits. The full-process research is conducted based on the “objective-modeling constraint optimization scheme decision-making” framework. The Mann–Kendall test and ordered clustering method were used to diagnose the hydrological variation in the basin. Based on this, a hierarchical and phased ecological flow process was derived. The objectives were defined according to the flow process, and optimal operation models were constructed. The differential evolution algorithm (DE) and improved non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II) were used to solve the models. A non-fitting curve method was used to determine the approximate inflection point of the Pareto front curve, and the curve was fitted linearly according to the approximate inflection point to obtain the conversion formula between the objectives. Based on the coefficient of variation and Mahalanobis distance, a new multi-attribute decision-making method for reservoir operation, CV-ITOPSIS, was constructed by improving the traditional TOPSIS. The results show that: (1) There is a piecewise linear contradiction between energy generation and ecological objectives, and the contradiction intensifies with an increase in incoming water frequency. (2) Before the approximate inflection point, the head significantly influences the conversion rate from the energy generation to ecology, while the discharge flow is the major influencing factor after the inflection point. The inflection point and the formula for the piecewise straight line can reveal the conversion law between the two objectives. (3) CV-ITOPSIS considers the degree of differentiation of index data and fully considers the correlation between indicators while retaining the good evaluation performance of the traditional method. It recommends the optimal benefit scheme for a multi-objective non-inferior solution set. The research results provide a theoretical foundation and decision support for the optimal ecological operation of the Ganjiang River Basin.

Appropriateness Evaluation Study of Land Reclamation of Pre-drilling Project in Southwest China Under Dual-carbon Background

Cultivated land and forest land are important carbon sink systems in the context of dual-carbon, so it is necessary to do a suitability evaluation study of pre-drilling project land reclamation to support the restoration of carbon sink function of the temporarily occupied farmland. In this paper, the suitability evaluation model of pre-drilling engineering land reclamation was established by adopting hierarchical analysis method and TOPSIS multi-attribute decision-making method, and the suitability evaluation study of pre-drilling engineering land reclamation was carried out on a drilling platform in Southwest China.

Automatic Group Decision-Making for Algal Bloom Management Based on Information Self-Learning

The phenomenon of algal bloom seriously affects the function of the aquatic ecosystems, damages the landscape of urban river and lakes, and threatens the safety of water use. The introduction of a multi-attribute decision-making method avoids the shortcomings of traditional algal bloom management that relies on manual experience. However, the weight-calculation part of this method still receives the artificial influence of human factors, which reduces the accuracy and scientific rigor of the decision. This paper presents a group decision-making method based on information self-learning which makes decision weights automatically clustered and assigned. A general framework of decision-making management is constructed for the algal bloom management process. In the decision-making process, an improved density-based clustering algorithm is used to automatically cluster and rank the decision data in the form of the three-parameter interval number, and ultimately obtain the optimal management method that meets the management objectives. Finally, the method was applied at the monitoring station of Sanjiadian Reservoir in Beijing, China. Based on the treatment objectives and water quality monitoring data of the station, relevant experts were invited to evaluate the management solutions, and the information self-organizing algorithm of this paper was used to automatically rank the decision-making methods, and finally obtain the most suitable management method for the station. Comparison with the water quality data and treatment inputs after the previous man-made selection of treatment options, and discussion among experts, show that the decision-making method is feasible and effective, and contributes to the sustainable treatment of algal blooms.

BTWM-HF: A behavioral three-way multi-attribute decision-making method with hesitant fuzzy information

Three-way decision (TWD) theory offers a novel paradigm for solving hesitant fuzzy multi-attribute decision-making problems. However, many existing TWD approaches follow the principle of minimum risk, thereby overlooking the influence of the psychological factors of decision-makers (DMs) on decision outcomes when faced with losses and gains. To address this challenge, we propose a behavioral three-way multi-attribute decision-making method with hesitant fuzzy information via hesitant fuzzy TODIM. The proposed method encompasses two key features. One is that the relative utility functions based on the dominance degree are constructed, aiming to portray the psychological behaviors of DMs. The other is the development of an objective calculation of weighted conditional probabilities, achieved without relying on a state set and a binary relation. The feasibility of the proposed method is verified by two numerical examples, one on software selection and the other from the UCI database. The results of the multi-aspect comparative analysis demonstrate that the proposed method exhibits good performance in terms of ranking and classification. Moreover, the experimental results indicate the effectiveness and applicability of the presented method.

A novel neutrosophic cubic MADM method based on Aczel-Alsina operator and MEREC and its application for supplier selection

Neutrosophic cubic set (NCS) can process complex information by choosing both interval value and single value membership and indeterminacy and falsehood components. The aggregation operators based on Aczel-Alsina t-norm and t-corm are quite effective for evaluating the interrelationship among attributes. The purpose of this paper is to diagnose the interrelationship among attributes with neutrosophic cubic information, and propose a multi-attribute decision-making(MADM) method for supplier selection problem with unknown weight under neutrosophic cubic environment. We defined neutrosophic cubic Aczel-Alsina (NC-AA) operator and neutrosophic cubic Aczel–Alsina weighted arithmetic average (NCAAWAA) operator, then we discussed various important results and some properties of the proposed operators. Additionally, we proposed a MADM method under the presence of the NC-AAWAA operator. When the weights of attributes are unknown, we use the MEREC method to determine the weights. Later, the NC-AAWAA operator and MEREC method are applied to address the supplier selection problem. Finally, a sensitivity analysis and a comparative analysis are conducted to illustrate the stability and superiority of the proposed method. The results show the NC-AAWAA operator can handle the interrelationship among complex information more effectively, and MEREC method can weight the attributes based on the removal effect of a neutrosophic cubic attribute.

Multi-attribute decision-making method of pumped storage capacity planning considering wind power uncertainty

Pumped storage technology plays a crucial role in achieving balance in power systems and enhancing the stability of energy systems. Scientific planning can help optimize the operation of power systems, promote the development of renewable energy, and conserve energy. This paper addresses the capacity planning problem of pumped storage stations in hybrid operation systems considering wind power uncertainty. A comprehensive decision-making method is proposed, based on the Delphi method, interval intuitionistic fuzzy theory, grey relational theory, entropy weight method, and prospect theory. This method comprehensively evaluates decision alternatives by considering various factors such as the uncertainty of qualitative indicators, the interrelationships between indicators, and the impacts of different risk environments. The test system in this paper is conducted on a hybrid wind-thermal-pump storage output model based on the IEEE 30-bus system. The optimal capacity planning scheme determined by the proposed method is 190 MW when decision-makers are risk-neutral or risk-averse, and 200 MW when they are risk-appetite. Subsequently, the case study verifies the impact of different load levels and proportions of wind power access on the optimal decision-making scheme, and compares it with decision-making method such as principal component analysis, technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution, and a combined method of Pythagorean fuzzy theory and cumulative prospect theory, validating feasibility and effectiveness.

Multi-attribute decision-making methods based on Aczel-Alsina power aggregation operators for English blended teaching quality evaluation under single-valued neutrosophic sets

As a new form of teaching, blended teaching can integrate the advantages of classroom teaching and online teaching and improve the overall quality and effectiveness of English teaching under the premise of changing the orientation of teachers and students. The English blended teaching quality evaluation is a multiple attribute decision making (MADM) issue. Aczel-Alsina t-norm and t-conorm operations have the true advantage of changeability by adjusting a decision parameter. power averaging (PA) operator allowed decision attributes to strengthen each other through weight information during fusion, thereby eliminating the influence of subjective weights on the decision results. Motivate through classical Aczel-Alsina operators, PA operator and the single-valued neutrosophic sets (SVNSs), in this paper, the single-valued neutrosophic number Aczel-Alsina power averaging (SVNNAAPA) operator and the single-valued neutrosophic number Aczel-Alsina power weighted averaging (SVNNAAPWA) operator are constructed under SVNSs. The SVNNAAPWA operator is built for MADM. Eventually, an example about English blended teaching quality evaluation and some selected comparative decision analysis is used to depict the SVNNAAPWA method.

Probability numbers for multi-attribute decision-making

In the face of increasingly complex data forms and decision-making problems, the uncertainty of information poses a major challenge to multi-attribute decision-making methods. How to effectively organize information and serve realistic decision-making problems has attracted extensive attention in the academic circles. In view of this, based on the distribution law of random variables, we put forward the basic concept of probability numbers and construct a general framework, including the concepts of type, order, item, isomorphism and isomerism, same domain and same distribution of probability numbers. On this basis, we further define the expectation and variance formula of probability numbers, and its operation rules are defined for the same type of probability numbers. To compare the dominance and inferiority of probability numbers further accurately, we put forward the concepts of dominance degree and comparability degree of probability numbers, so that decision makers can realize the ranking of probability numbers by calculating the comprehensive dominance degree. In view of the related concepts of probability numbers, we summarize the properties and theorems of probability numbers and prove them. In addition, a probability numbers-based multi-attribute decision-making framework model is proposed to solve the multi-attribute decision-making problem. Decision makers can select appropriate sub-models to construct personalized multi-attribute decision-making methods according to actual needs. At the end of the paper, we apply the method to the multi-attribute decision case of campus express stations evaluation and verify the scientificity and rationality of the evaluation method. The concept of probability numbers and its decision model proposed in this paper extend the concept category of numbers, enrich the multi-attribute decision-making method based on probability numbers, and have certain reference significance for further research of uncertain decision theory and method.

Multiattribute Decision-Making in Wargames Leveraging the Entropy–Weight Method in Conjunction With Deep Reinforcement Learning

With the development of society, intelligent games have gradually become a hot research field. The paper proposes an algorithm that combines the multi-attribute decision-making and reinforcement learning methods to apply to multi-agents' decision-making for wargaming AI (artificial intelligence). This algorithm solves the problem of the agent's low rate of winning against specific rules and its inability to quickly converge during intelligent wargame training. At the same time, a multi-attribute decision-making method based on Entropy-Weight method was proposed to obtain the normalized weighting for each attribute that feeds into a deep reinforcement learning model. A simulation experiment confirms that the RNM-PPO (Real Number Multi-attribute decision-making-PPO) algorithm of multi-attribute decision-making combined with reinforcement learning presented in the paper is significantly more intelligent than the pure reinforcement learning algorithm.

Evaluation of the Contaminated Area Using an Integrated Multi-Attribute Decision-Making Method

Air pollution affects public health and the environment, creating great concern in developed and developing countries. In India, there are numerous reasons for air pollution, and festivals like Diwali also contribute to air contamination. Determining the polluted region using several air contaminants is significant and should be analyzed carefully. This study aims to analyze the air quality in Tamil Nadu, India, during the Diwali festival from 2019 to 2021, based on multiple air pollutants. The study models the impact of air pollution as a Multi-Attribute Decision-Making (MADM) problem. It introduces a hybrid approach, namely the Analytical Hierarchy Process-Entropy-VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (AHP-Entropy-VIKOR) model, to analyze and rank the areas based on the quality of air. A combined approach of AHP and entropy is employed to determine the weights of multiple air pollutants. The VIKOR approach ranks the areas and identifies the areas with the worst air quality during the festival. The proposed model is validated by performing the Spearman’s rank correlation with two existing MADM methods: Combinative Distance Based Assessment (CODAS) and Weighted Aggregates Sum Product Assessment (WASPAS). Sensitivity analysis is carried out to assess the effects of the priority weights and the dependency of the pollutants in ranking the regions. The highest air pollution level during the festival was seen in Cellisini Colony (2019), Rayapuram (2020), T. Nagar and Triplicane (2021) in their respective year. The results demonstrate the consistency and efficiency of the proposed approach.
