The Role of the School Principal in Increasing Work Motivation and Work Discipline of Teachers in Elementary School

This research aims to describe the role of the principal in increasing the work motivation and work discipline of teachers at SD Negeri Rahayu Kecamatan Jirak Kabupaten Musi Banyuasin. To collect the data needed for this research, it was carried out through observation activities, interviews with research respondents, and documentation studies related to the research problem being studied. The results of this research show that the principal of SD Negeri Rahayu Kecamatan Jirak Kabupaten Musi Banyuasin has improved the work motivation and work discipline of the teachers who teach at the school he leads. Meanwhile, the efforts made to increase teacher work motivation include giving rewards to teachers who carry out their duties well and providing allowances or incentives to teachers who carry out their duties well. The principal tries to create a peaceful and pleasant school environment so that teachers are more motivated to improve performance, providing opportunities for teachers to advance by involving teachers in educational and training activities, workshops, and seminars in order to improve teacher performance and careers, as well as establishing harmonious relationships with teachers who teach, and providing opportunities for teachers who teach at SD Negeri Rahayu Kecamatan Jirak Kabupaten Musi Banyuasin to participate in the nomination for school principal. Meanwhile, the principal’s efforts to improve work discipline are carried out by summoning teachers who lack discipline to be given guidance and direction and by giving strict sanctions in the form of warning letters to teachers who consistently violate the agreed discipline.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADVANCEMENT AND TEACHER MOTIVATION IN PRIVATE PRIMARY SCHOOL IN MUKUNGWE SUB-COUNTY, MASAKA DISTRICT. A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY.

Background The availability of opportunities for advancement motivates teachers to invest in their professional growth and development, leading to increased job satisfaction and commitment. The study aims to assess the relationship between opportunities for advancement and teacher motivation. Methodology A descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational survey design. A qualitative approach was employed in examining the non-numerical findings of the study such as gender and attitudes of the respondents on the study variables were coded and summarized to produce descriptive findings. The quantitative approach was used to analyze and interpret numerical data for meaningful findings. Results Most respondents (51%) were in the age range of 20-35 years, followed by 37% in the age range of 36-50 years, and 12% aged 51 years and above. There was a moderately strong positive correlation between opportunities for advancement and teacher commitment (Pearson Correlation = 0.629, p = 0.002). This implies that when teachers perceive there are opportunities for advancement within the school, their commitment tends to be higher. Recommendations Private primary schools should provide more opportunities for leadership roles, teaching specialized subjects, and bonuses for advancement to address perceived deficiencies in these areas.

Examination of the Relationship Between Epistemic Curious and Teaching Motivation’s in Physical Education and Sports Teachers

The aim of the study is to determine the level of relationship between epistemic curiosity and teaching motivation in physical education and sports teachers.It is thought that investigating the relationship between teachers' teaching motivations and epistemic curiosity may contribute to improving the professional productivity of teachers, which is one of the most important factors in education and training. The sample group of the study consists of 143 physical education and sports teachers working in secondary schools in Kayseri. The demographic information form and epistemic curiosity scale developed by Litman and Spielberger (2003) and adapted to Turkish by Yazıcı (2020), were used in the study. At the same time, the "Teaching Motivation Scale" developed by Kauffman et al. (2011) and adapted to Turkish by Candan and Gencel (2015) was used as a data collection tool.As a result, there is no difference according to gender in the values of interest, deprivation, epistemic curiosity total and teaching motivation. There is no difference between the participants' interest, deprivation, epistemic curiosity total and teaching motivation values according to marital status. A difference was found between the interest values of the participants between the least senior group and the most senior group. There is no difference between the interest values of those with medium seniority and other groups. There is no difference between the participants in the variables of deprivation, epistemic curiosity total and teaching motivation according to the year of study. There is no difference between the variables of interest, deprivation, epistemic curiosity and teaching motivation according to regular sports activity. According to the results of our study, which examined the relationship between epistemic curiosity and teaching motivation in physical education and sports teachers, a low-level and positive relationship was found between the variables. Considering the results of our study, it is thought that taking into account the relationship between teachers' epistemic curiosity and teaching motivation, it is necessary to increase their teaching motivation through professional improvements and increase their epistemic curiosity in the same direction in order to provide qualified education.

Motivation and learning psychology of teachers in language translation learning

AbstractThis study aimed to understand pre‐service teachers’ motivations and learning psychologies in language teaching. The study used a phenomenology pattern, a qualitative research method, to gather pre‐service teachers’ views about language teaching, motivations and learning psychologies during translation activities. The study group consisted of 42 language department undergraduate students from the Education Faculty of a private university in TRNC in the 2022–2023 academic year, selected using the criterion sampling method. Data were collected through semi‐structured interviews. The NVIVO‐R1 qualitative data analysis program was used for categorisation and coding in the data analysis. The findings revealed that translation studies motivate and improve comprehension–explanation skills, increasing academic success, positively impacting learning psychology, and reducing anxiety. Effective teaching methods and motivation were influential factors in teaching language to pre‐service teachers. The study also found that reinforcers, intrinsic motivation, exemplification–association, measurable goals, teaching environment, teaching method and applied learning significantly affect the language teaching process and academic success. It was concluded that pre‐service teachers are attentive to their professional careers and motivations. Additionally, the study revealed that learning the historical development of the language and different types of translation positively contributed to the motivation levels, academic achievement and language learning knowledge and skills of pre‐service teachers. Regarding grammar teaching, pre‐service teachers highlighted the importance of focusing on the social and interactional dimensions of language in addition to grammar learning. They expressed that language learning anxiety stemmed from insufficient practice. Finally, the study suggested that the language‐learning problems of pre‐service teachers could be attributed to the neglect of translation studies.

SISTEM MANAJEMEN KINERJA BERBASIS PADA INPUT (INDIVIDU GURU) PROSES DAN OUTPUT

An effective performance management system is key to improving the quality of education and student learning outcomes. This article discusses performance management systems based on input (individual teacher), processes, and outputs in three schools that have implemented this method. Data is collected through in-depth interviews, live observations, and analysis of school policy documents and teacher performance reports. Research results show that there is a strong relationship between individual teacher competence and skills (inputs), implementation and monitoring of teaching (processes), and results and impact on performance. (output). Teachers who received constructive feedback and followed a continuous training program showed significant performance improvements. In addition, appreciation and recognition of good performance increases the motivation and satisfaction of teachers. Recommendations included clear objectives, regular feedback, sustained training programmes, and a fair and transparent system of awards and recognitions. In conclusion, the implementation of a comprehensive and sustainable performance management system can improve the performance of individual teachers and schools as a whole, as well as help competitive advantage in the world of education.

Development Of Picture Card Media Based On Science Literacy On Ecosystem Materials

It is known that the science literacy score in Indonesia in PISA (Programe for International Student Assement) which is carried out in 2022 is up 6 positions compared to 2018. However, the score dropped by 13 points. This needs to be improved the quality of education in Indonesia, one of the factors that influence it is the lack of innovation in the use of science literacy-based learning media. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics, feasibility, and response to picture card media based on science literacy in grade V elementary school ecosystem materials. The research method used is R&D with the ADDIE model, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. To determine the feasibility of the media, a validation test was carried out by material experts and media experts using validation sheets. From the expert validation test, the material obtained a percentage of 100% with a very decent category. The results of the media test obtained a percentage of 100% with a very decent category. To determine the media response, respondents were filled out questionnaires by teachers and students. The results of students' responses to the media obtained a percentage of 93% in the very good category. While the results of the teacher's response obtained a percentage of 95% with a very good category. This study found that the picture card media based on science literacy ecosystem material is very feasible and very good to be used as a learning medium that can be an idea and motivation for teachers to make learning media innovations. In addition, it can help students in the learning process and increase knowledge related to science literacy skills. Further research can develop picture card media with other subjects and materials.

INFLUENCE OF TEACHERS MOTIVATION ON STUDENTS DISCIPLINE IN PUBLIC BOARDING SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN RWANDA, A CASE OF RULINDO DISTRICT

This research investigated the effect of motivation of teachers on students discipline within public boarding secondary schools. The study utilized descriptive research design and correlation design with a mixed approach. The study included a total population of 145 individuals, consisting of 8 administrative staff members, 4 representatives from the parent s committee, and 133 teaching staff from public boarding secondary schools in Rulindo district, the researcher determined the sample size of 107 respondents using Yamane formula. The results indicate 88.8% strongly agreed that Teachers are provided with support to attend in service courses, seminars and workshops, 87.8% strongly agreed that Equitable methods and procedures are employed in the promotion of teachers, 79.6% strongly agreed that Opportunities and incentives or additional studies are extended through offers, 61.2% strongly agreed that The society acknowledge the importance of teacher, 84.7% strongly agreed that Teacher salaries are proportionate to their workload. Study indicates that 58.8 % of strongly agreed that Improved punctuality Indicate of students discipline, and 76.5 % of strongly agreed that Team player Indicate of students discipline, 73.5 % of strongly agreed that Respectful behaviour Indicate of students discipline, and 77.9% of strongly agreed that Students Cleanliness Indicate of students discipline61.8 % of strongly agreed that Consistence attendance Indicate of students discipline and 58.8% of strongly agreed that Adherence to school rules & guidelines Indicate of students discipline. Results revealed that Teachers Motivation Factors Have a Positive Significance with Student s Discipline since the p-value are less than 0.05, underscored a positive relationship between teachers ‗motivation and students discipline. The study recommends that school administrators should improve teacher incentive strategies if they want to see the improved performance that comes from having disciplined students. Head teachers should work to develop new teacher motivational tactics and even bolster those that already exist in order to establish discipline among the students and improve performance. The government through the Ministry of education should certify that teachers are given better compensation for them to convey excellently. In addition, the government and management ought to support paid study leave for educators so they can advance their qualifications, expertise, and abilities and ultimately provide high-quality education.

This research aims to determine and analyze the influence of the principal's transformational leadership and work climate through work motivation on teacher performance. This research is quantitative research with path analysis. The research population was 271 people with a research sample of 161 people. Data collection was carried out using an instrument consisting of the principal's Transformational leadership (27 items), work climate (26 items), work motivation (20 items), teacher performance (26 items) which had been tested for validity and reliability. Analysis of this research data uses path analysis (Path Analysis). Hubungan Antara Kepemimpinan Instruksional Kepala Sekolah, Kompetensi Profesional Guru, Motivasi Erprestasi, dan Kinerja Guru SDN di Kecamatan Murung Pudak Kabupaten Tabalong

The aim of this research is to analyze the direct and indirect relationship between the principal's instructional leadership, professional competence, achievement motivation and the work discipline of SDN teachers in Murung Pudak District, Tabalong Regency. The method used is quantitative descriptive research using a correlational path analysis model to analyze relationship patterns between variables. The research population was 280 teachers from 24 elementary schools in Murung Pudak District and 143 respondents as research samples using the Proportionate Random Sampling technique and the proportional allocation formula. Data collection uses questionnaire instruments and data analysis uses descriptive analysis, classical assumption testing, hypothesis testing and path analysis. results of the analysis of the regression coefficient values for the principal's instructional leadership variable with teacher performance were 0.421, the professional competency variable with performance was 0.330, the achievement motivation variable with performance was 0.256, the principal's instructional leadership variable with achievement motivation was 0.485, the professional competency variable with achievement motivation was 0.485. 0.437, the principal's instructional leadership variable with performance through achievement motivation is 0.124 and the professional competency variable with performance through achievement motivation is 0.112. Conclusion of this research is that the principal's instructional leadership variables, professional competence, achievement motivation and performance of SDN teachers in Murung Pudak District, Tabalong Regency are all in the high category. However, teacher performance is not only influenced by individual factors, but also by external factors such as school leadership and the availability of infrastructure. Effective leadership and adequate infrastructure can positively influence teacher performance. Leadership that is visionary and able to provide clear direction can motivate and inspire teachers to give their best in learning. In the context of formal education, the principal leadership is an important element that determines the direction and success of the school. This research will delve deeper into the importance of human resources in schools, especially the principal leadership as a leader. Quality schools are not only determined by physical facilities and curriculum, but also the quality of teachers, staff and effective leadership.Principal leadership as an agent of change has a strategic role in managing school human resources. Visionary and inclusive leadership can form a positive work culture, increase teacher motivation and performance, and design development policies according to educational developments. Intrinsic Motivation of Gen Z to be a Teacher in Elementary Schools

Intrinsic motivation plays a critical role in influencing an individual's career choices. Since 2017, Gen Z, as the youngest generation to enter the workforce, exhibits distinct career motivations compared to earlier generations. However, there is still very little research that explores a person's intrinsic motivation in choosing a career as a teacher. This research aimed to explore the intrinsic motivation of prospective teachers from Gen Z to become professional teachers in elementary schools. The study included 12 pre-service teachers enrolled in the elementary school teacher education program, selected using purposive sampling techniques. By adopting qualitative focus group study research, the results showed that intrinsic motivation to become a teacher in elementary schools included three main themes, namely: the interest in teaching, self-development, and comfort in teaching. This research made an important contribution to the understanding of intrinsic motivation in entering a career as a teacher, which could assist in the development of strategies and policies that support the recruitment and retention of quality teachers.

The Influence of Teachers' Readiness Level and Motivation on The Implementation of The Merdeka Curriculum (IKM) in North Ternate City

This research explores the implementation of The Merdeka Curriculum (IKM) in North Ternate City, focusing on the influence of teachers' readiness level and motivation. The research used quantitative, using surveys to gather data from 68 junior high school teachers in North Ternate City who implemented The Merdeka Curriculum (IKM). The research indicates that the readiness level of teachers influences 0.65, while teacher motivation has an influence of 0.72 on the success of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum (IKM) in Ternate City. With significant coefficients, it can be concluded that both teacher readiness and motivation have a positive and significant impact on the quality of teaching IKM and student success in Ternate City. Enhancing teacher readiness and motivation can be an effective strategy to improve the quality of education through the effective implementation of IKM.

This article focuses on the historical development, current state, and future perspectives of geology education in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of the article presents analysis of the evolution of the geology curriculum and its position within the Czech educational system. It highlights significant personalities and events in geological sciences and describes the changes in geology education since the 18th century to the present. The empirical part of the article employs qualitative research through focus group interviews to reflect on current approaches to geology education in lower secondary schools (ISCED 2). The respondents included ninth-grade students from primary schools, teacher education students at the Faculty of Science of Charles University, and science teachers. Based on their statements, SWOT analyses were created to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with geology education. Strengths include practical field exercises and field trips that provide students a direct contact with geological materials and demonstrate interdisciplinary connections between geology, chemistry, physics, and geography. Weaknesses involve low student interest, lack of teaching aids, and the complexity of integrating geology into other subjects. Threats include low teacher motivation and inadequate resources in school natural science collections, while opportunities lie in tandem teaching and collaboration with research and educational institutions. The article emphasizes the need to strengthen interdisciplinary connections, increase teacher support and motivation through further education, and improve school collection. Emphasis is also placed on popularizing geology to make it more attractive not only to students but also to the broader public. Overall, it is essential for geology education to respond to current challenges and trends, thus contributing to the formation of comprehensive scientific education that will inspire students to further study and interest in natural sciences.

Optimal human resource management is a form of MAN's goal in carrying out its activities effectively and efficiently. The importance of teacher motivation, fulfilling the quality of work life in the work environment, and teachers feeling satisfied at work is a form of effort to optimize the potential and level of productivity of MAN's teacher resources. This type of research is a literature study, a theoretical study that describes the fulfillment of work motivation, quality of work life, and high job satisfaction that teachers have in a straight line according to MAN's expected work results.

EFFECTIVENESS OF IMPLEMENTING THE TEACHER PROFESSION CERTIFICATION POLICY IN KEBONPEDES DISTRICT

One crucial element in advancing education is the presence of educators with high professionalism. Considering the rough overview of the current condition of teachers, the situation is very concerning due to their low motivation and competence. Addressing this, this research aims to: (1) Examining the impact of teacher motivation on the success of teacher certification policy implementation; (2) Evaluate teacher competence in the success of implementing the teacher professional certification policy; (3) Investigate the combined influence of motivation and teacher competence on the success of implementing the teacher professional certification policy. The research analysis unit is in the Kebonpedes Subdistrict of Sukabumi Regency. The research subjects are certified teachers. A total of 66 individuals, equivalent to 50% of the total population of 132 individuals, were selected as samples. The eeffectiveness of implementing the teacher professional certification policy is proven to be influenced by the level of motivation and competence of the teachers.

Communication Skills of School Heads and Work Motivation of Elementary Teachers Leading Up to Effective Job Performance

Teacher's quality and caliber greatly affect the success of any educational system. Effective communication from the school head and the teacher's motivation can lead to effective job performance, especially at the school level. This study investigated school heads' communication skills and elementary teachers' work motivation leading to effective job performance. Specifically, it aims to determine the demographic profile of elementary teachers. This study desired to ascertain the perceived level of motivation and identify which factors of school heads' communication skills and work motivation significantly affect the teachers' job performance. Lastly, it indicates the significant difference in the perception of elementary teachers according to their demographic profile. The study was conducted at Tayabas City Division, comprising thirty-two elementary schools within two districts, particularly in East and West. This research incorporated descriptive-quantitative research. The study found that most of the teacher respondents have a positive level of verbal, non-verbal, written, listening, and visual communication skills. Elementary teachers were disclosed to have an uplifting motivation for work in terms of job commitment, relationship, quality of work, workplace environment, policies and decision-making process, motivation, and contact between their school heads. The findings indicate that teacher-respondents have sufficient motivation from different aspects of the school they are teaching. Hence, the findings indicate no statistically significant difference between their communication skills and work motivation in influencing their job performance when grouped according to their demographics.

Teaching Asian Religions through the Internet—How Online Representations Interact with Dynamics of Eurocentrism, Orientalism, and Confessionalism in the Case of Italian Teaching of Catholic Religion

The religions of South and East Asia resist Eurocentric interpretations, such as the so-called World Religion Paradigm. However, they are subjected in various ways to hetero- and auto-orientalist representations that respond to Western ideals and expectations. This article analyzes how Italian Catholic teachers use online representations of East Asian religions in their lessons to teach these traditions. The aim is to shed light on the interplay, facilitated by online environments, between contemporary processes of Eurocentric and Orientalist interpretation and the educational and confessional motivations of confessional religious education teachers. The result of the analysis indicates that these factors concur to reinforce misleading representations, which contradicts the intercultural aims proclaimed by teachers and other Teaching of Catholic Religion stakeholders. Nevertheless, this article also individuates those elements that could be fruitfully framed in an academic study-of-religions perspective and suggests a modality of cooperation between Catholic Religion teachers and scholars of religions.
