The Effect Of The Form Of Parental Participation On Students Motivation To Learn Science In Bayang Elementary School Makassar City

This study is a ex post facto study that aims to determine the significant effect of parental participation on the science learning motivation of students at SD Negeri Bayang Makassar City. The independent variable in this study is the form of parental participation, while the dependent variable is students' motivation to learn science. This study uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study were students of SD Negeri Bayang Makassar as many as 312 students. (1) determination of the sample of this study using simple random sampling technique as many as 172 students spread from grades I - VI SD. (2) data were collected using research instruments in the form of questionnaires and documentation (3) the data analysis technique used in hypothesis testing is statistical testing, including descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results of hypothesis testing show that significance value 0,03 then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the results of the study, it shows that there is a positive influence between parental participation on the science learning motivation of students at SD Negeri Bayang Makassar City

Efektifitas Model Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL) Berbasis Etnosains Terhadap Motivasi Belajar Siswa pada Mata Pelajaran IPA

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the ethnoscience-based contextual teaching andlearning (CTL) model on students' motivation in learning science. SDN 5 Talang Kelapa as manyas 350 people. The population is continued by being selected using a purposive samplingtechnique. The research method used in this study was quasi-experimental with the design usedwas Nonequivalent Control Group Design and the population in this study were students. Datacollection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation as secondary data. Based on theresults of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that the ethnoscience-based CTL(Contextual Teaching and Learning) learning model is effective for students' learning motivation in learning science. This can be proven by the value of Sig. = 0.015 less than alpha (α) = 0.05; with a t-count value of 2.500 and a t-table value of 1.672. It turns out that t-count > t-table or2.500 > 1.672, then reject then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.

A study on the perception of South Korean high school students about the influence of learner and teacher on school science learning

This study was conducted on the perception of high school students regarding the influence of learner and teacher on school science learning. The subjects were 867 South Korean high school students at 464 natural science and 404 humanities learning course. The components of the influence of learner and teacher in school science learning consisted of learning motivation, class participation, learning, and achievement. Overall, high school students perceived that learners had a stronger influence than teacher on learning motivation, class participation and achievement except learning. High school students at natural science learning course recognized more than students of humanities learning course that learners had a stronger influence on learning motivation, class participation, and the achievement than teacher. Since high school students at natural science learning course considered their future careers when selecting such learning course, their interests and motivation in science were already higher than students of humanities learning course. Thus, school teachers have to make an effort to develop the professionalism of teaching because the learning effect was not limited to the cognitive skills of science class students, and may vary depending on the explanations of teachers.

APPLICATION OF PROBLEM BASED LEARNING MODELS ON NATURAL SCIENCES TO IMPROVE MOTIVATION AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The purpose of this study is to analyze the motivation and learning outcomes of science after applying the problem based learning (PBL) models. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) which was carried out in 2 cycles, each cycle using the PBL model. The research subjects were 32 students of class VIII E odd semester at SMP Negeri 3 Jombang. The data collection technique used a learning motivation questionnaire which was conducted preconditioning, post-cycle 1 and post-cycle 2, and data on student science learning outcomes obtained from the pretest conducted before PBL was applied and posttest after PBL. The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative analysis, analysis of the results of the questionnaire on learning motivation using a Likert scale and analysis of student learning outcomes using the paired sample T test using SPSS 20. The results of this study indicate the average precondition learning motivation is 56.40%, post cycle I 72.81% and post cycle II 83.73%. the increase in precondition-post-cycle I was 16.412% and the increase in post-cycle 1-post-cycle II was 10.918%. The results of the paired sample T test have a significant value of 0.000. This shows that learning using PBL can be effective in increasing students' motivation and learning outcomes in science learning.

Predictors of Student Engagement in Science Learning: The Role of Science Laboratory Learning Environment and Science Learning Motivation

Student engagement is one of the indicators of a successful teaching and learning process. Many studies claim that student engagement is associated with the performance and achievement of students. In this study, the researchers aimed to determine the effects of science laboratory environments and science learning motivation towards student engagement in learning science among non-science students. 468 upper secondary non-science students in Sarawak were involved in this survey with the administration of three sets of questionnaires on science laboratory environment, science learning motivation and student engagement in science learning. Multiple regression was used to analyse the research questions. Both science laboratory learning environment (r = 0.523) and science learning motivation (r = 0.670) are found positively correlated to student engagement. The results also revealed that the science laboratory learning environment and science learning motivation are significant predictors of student engagement in learning science with R2 = 0.463. Specifically, student cohesiveness, open-endedness, integration and material environment in the science laboratory learning environment and all the dimensions of motivation predict student engagement in science learning. The findings suggest that educators, especially science teachers, should utilise the laboratory effectively and keep students motivated to ensure their active engagement in science learning.

초등 일반 학생과 과학영재 학생의 과학 학업 열정과 과학 긍정 경험의 관계

This study investigated the relationship between science academic passion and positive experience about science of elementary general and science-gifted students. To do this, 4th-6th grade students (n=90) at elementary schools and 4th-6th grade students (n=126) at gifted science education institutes in Seoul were selected. Tests for science academic passion and positive experience about science were then administered and correlation analysis between the two variables was performed. Analysis of the results revealed all subcategories of science academic passion had significantly positive relationships with all subcategories of positive experience about science. The degree of correlation between subcategories of science academic passion and subcategories of positive experience about science differ significantly in some correlations (correlations between ‘importance’ and ‘science academic emotion’, ‘importance’ and ‘science learning motivation’, and ‘harmonious passion’ and ‘science-related self-concept’) between general students and science-gifted students. The degree of correlation between science academic passion and positive experience about science were also somewhat different according to each subcategory of the two variables. And this tendency was similar between general students and science-gifted students in the subcategories (‘importance’, ‘like’, and ‘time/energy investment’) corresponding to “intensity” of science academic passion, but there was a slight difference between general students and science-gifted students in the subcategories (‘harmonious passion’ and ‘obsessive passion’) corresponding to “type”. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

Peningkatan Hasil Belajar IPA Melalui Model Pembelajaran Think-Talk-Write Bervariasi Pada Siswa Kelas VIII A SMPS Muhammadiyah Ende

This study aims to improve learning outcomes, interest, motivation, and activeness, creativity and collaboration in learning science on the material: the Growth and Development of organism. The results show that 1) student achievement results have increased from the initial conditions to the end of the first cycle conditions and continued to cycle II there was an increase as follows: for the highest value of 80 it increased to 90 in cycle I, and increased again to 95 in cycle II. For the lowest value of 50 it rose to 75 in cycle I, and rose again to 76 in cycle II, for the average value of 66.19 in the pre-cycle rose to 81.34 in the first cycle, and rose again to 87.16 in the second cycle, 14 students completed (43.75%) increased in the first cycle to 36 students (100%), and in cycle II, for students who have not finished as many as 21 students, it drops to 0 students in cycle I and cycle II.

The Correlation between Learning Motivation Level and Students Learning Outcomes on Science Subjects of Junior High School Class VII

Student learning motivation is the driving force in students to be able to achieve optimal learning outcomes so that the desired goals of the learning subject can be achieved. The motivation that can come from within the student himself is called intrinsic motivation and comes from outside the student's self or extrinsic motivation. The purpose of this research was to analyze the level of learning motivation of seventh-grade students of SMPN 4 Siak Hulu in science subjects. The method used in this research is a survey method with a quantitative approach. The data collection technique used a learning motivation questionnaire instrument consisting of 25 statement items and the research subject was 67 students. The data analysis technique is through descriptive analysis of the science learning motivation. The research results showed that students' learning motivation was in the high category with a score of 82.45%, while the average learning outcome was 41.1 in the low category. Thus the learning motivation of class VII students of SMPN 4 Siak Hulu is contrary to the learning outcomes obtained by students, so a better learning system is needed to provide solutions or improvements to optimal student learning outcomes by high motivation, especially in science subjects in Class VII SMPN 4 Siak Hulu.

Peningkatan Hasil Belajar dengan Menggunakan Metode Cjpok pada Materi Negara-Negara Asean pada Mata Pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial pada Siswa Kelas VI

This research is motivated by the lack of students' interest in Social Science lessons. The formulation of the research problem is whether the combination of the lecture method with the group work method has an effect on the Social Science learning outcomes of Class VI students? and how does the combined influence of the lecture method with the group work method on the learning motivation of Class VI students? This study aims to determine the effect of the combined lecture method with the group work method on the Social Science learning outcomes of Class VI students and to determine the effectiveness of the combined lecture method with the group work method in increasing the Social Science learning motivation of Class VI students. This research was conducted in July-October 2020, at SD Negeri 47/IV Jambi City. This type of research is classroom action research with 2 cycles consisting of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Techniques and data collection tools in this study were field notes, list of student scores and student tests. The results of this study indicate that with the lecture method and group work method, student learning outcomes increase by 85%. It was concluded that the lecture method with the group work method could improve student learning outcomes and motivation.

A qualitative study of teachers’ and students’ experiences with a context-based curriculum unit designed in collaboration with STEM professionals and science educators

Context-based science teaching aims to increase students’ motivation for science learning by demonstrating the personal and societal relevance of science knowledge and practices. However, designing and implementing context-based science teaching can be challenging for teachers. Moreover, context-based learning can be challenging for students as well. The purpose of this study is to describe the experiences of two science teachers and their 16-year-old students after implementing a context-based curriculum unit designed in collaboration with STEM professionals and facilitated by us – science educators and researchers. The research approach is informed by participatory methods involving collaboration between teachers and us as science educators, with the intention of supporting teachers in developing new teaching practices. Data were collected through three focus group interviews with two teachers and two groups of students (N = 9). The transcripts were analysed by inductive coding combined with a refined, literature-driven analysis. Besides positive influences on students’ learning, we found that the context-based curriculum provided an opportunity for the students to contribute to society, which served as another purpose for learning science than traditional science teaching. However, we discuss some challenges that may have implications for this type of collaboration between teachers, science educators, and STEM professionals: the importance of authenticity, teacher involvement in field trip planning, and misalignment between the curriculum unit and assessment.

Development of LKPD with a Contextual Approach Based on Flipbook to Increase Science Learning Motivation

The science learning process at SMP N 1 Pejagoan is still teacher-centered. This causes students to be less active because the control of learning is centered on the teacher, as a result, students' learning motivation decreases. To overcome this, research was carried out through the development of study guides in the form of LKPD with a contextual approach based on flipbook. This study aims to determine the feasibility level of LKPD, determine student responses, and find out whether LKPD can increase students' motivation to learn science. This study uses the Thiagarajan 4D (Four-D Model) development model, consisting of four stages, namely the definition stage, the design stage, and the development stage. The dissemination stage was not carried out, this research was only limited to product feasibility tests and limited trials. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The sample in this study is class VIII A totaling 10 people. The collection technique used is a questionnaire and documentation. The results showed that: (1) LKPD with a contextual approach based on flipbook was feasible, judging from the percentage of LKPD eligibility 95.57% (very feasible), (2) student responses to LKPD were in the very good category, seen from the percentage of interest in LKPD 87.50% (very interested), and students' motivation to learn science using LKPD with a contextual approach based on flipbook was included in the high category, with a percentage of 82.81% (high motivation)

Pengaruh Penggunaan Video Pembelajaran Berorientasi HOTS terhadap Motivasi dan Hasil Belajar Materi Gaya Siswa SD Negeri Dlisen 02

The background that drives this research is the low motivation to learn and student learning outcomes. This is due to the lack of teacher knowledge about varied learning models and the use of media that is less than optimal for students. The problems in this study are (1) How is the Effect of Using HOTS Oriented Learning Videos on Learning Motivation for Style Materials at SD Negeri Dlisen 02?; (2) How is the Effect of Using HOTS Oriented Learning Videos on Learning Outcomes of Student Style Materials at SD Negeri Dlisen 02?. This type of research is experimental. Hypothesis test of students' learning motivation there is a difference in motivation between classes that receive learning with video and classes that do not use video. This is evidenced from the results of the t-test of pretest learning outcomes concluded that there is a significant difference in Science learning outcomes in style material. Testing the hypothesis of student learning outcomes there is a difference in learning outcomes between classes that receive learning with video and classes that do not use video. From the results of the t-test of pretest learning outcomes in the class, the significance value obtained by the t-test. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference in Science learning outcomes in style material in class students. The variance test of learning motivation has an effect on the use of hots-oriented learning videos on learning motivation at SD Negeri Dlisen 02. The significance value is Sig (2-tailed) 0.001 (0.001 < 0.05), with a perfect relationship degree of 0.879 which is included in the Pearson correlation range of 0.81 up to 1.00 so that it can be concluded that there is an effect of the application of HOTS-oriented learning videos on science learning motivation on style material for fourth grade students. The variance test of learning outcomes has the effect of using hots-oriented learning videos on learning outcomes at SD Negeri Dlisen 02. The significance value is Sig (2-tailed) 0.001 (0.001 < 0.05), with a perfect relationship degree of 0.824 which is included in the Pearson correlation range of 0.81 up to 1.00 so it can be concluded that there is an effect of the application of HOTS-oriented learning videos on science learning outcomes on style material for fourth grade students.

The effect of learning cycle 5E+Powtoon on students’ motivation: The concept of animal metamorphosis

During the Covid-19 pandemic period, elementary school students experienced many learning difficulties, which resulted in decreased learning motivation. This study aimed to determine the effect of the 5e+Powtoon learning cycle learning model on learning motivation in science. This quasi-experimental research was conducted at public Elementary School (ES) Teladan Ambon, Maluku. There were two groups, one as the experimental class and another as a control class with 60 students. The research design used was a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group. The instrument used is a learning motivation questionnaire, with a value of validity = 0.769 and reliability = 0.897. The analysis results with ANCOVA showed the value of Sig = 0.000 > alpha (0.05), so applying the 5E+Powtoon model effect students' learning motivation. Thus, the 5e+Powtoon learning cycle can be recommended to increase elementary school students learning motivation. Further research is suggested to compare student motivation in Maluku with other developed countries by using the 5E model with other online learning applications.

Impact of Using Visual Effects and Animation in the Educational Environment on Transferring the Knowledge and Motivation for Science and Technology Learning

The study described here is one of the first of its kind to look at the systemic effects of learning with integrated animations on knowledge transfer and motivation to learn science and technology. A study involving 418 6th and 9th grade students from Jordan was conducted. Students in the experimental group took part in science and technology lessons that included the animation environment at least once a week. The experiment lasted between 2 and 4 months. The findings revealed that an animation-based online learning environment had a significant impact on knowledge transfer and learning motivation. Furthermore, the findings revealed that students' perceptions of science and technology learning changed because of teaching and learning with integrated animations. Students perceived themselves to play a more central role in classroom interactions, expressed greater interest in learning, and placed a greater emphasis on using technology and experiments during lessons.

Profiles of student science attitudes and its associations with gender and science achievement

ABSTRACT Using TIMSS 2015 data, the present study aimed to explore the profiles of attitudes toward science among Hong Kong eighth-grade students (N = 4138), and further to investigate how these attitudinal profiles might relate with gender and science achievement. In TIMSS, attitudes toward science are specified in terms of four factors: intrinsic interest in science, perceived competence in science, instrumental value of science, and engaging science teaching. Results of a latent profile analysis indicated five distinct profiles of student attitudes toward science: (1) Negative attitudes, particularly toward perceived competence in science; (2) Negative attitudes, particularly toward instrumental value of science and engaging science teaching; (3) Moderate attitudes toward science; (4) Positive attitudes toward science; and (5) High-positive attitudes toward science. Furthermore, boys displayed significantly higher intrinsic interest in science, perceived competence in science and instrumental value of science than girls. Generally, students in profiles with higher levels of science attitudes tended to show better science achievement, but the relationship was not perfectly linear. The findings suggest ways for educators and parents to plan and implement effective and individualized strategies to foster student motivation in science learning.

The Influence of the Problem-Based Learning Model on the Science Learning Motivation of Class IV Students at SDN Inpres 1 Birobuli

This research aims to determine the effect of the problem-based learning model on the science learning motivation of class IV students at SDN Inpres 1 Birobuli. The type of research used is quantitative research using an experimental method approach. The design of this research is quasi-experimental. The form of design used in this research is a non-equivalent control group design which consists of an experimental group and a control group. The sample in this study was class IV students at SDN Inpres 1 Birobuli, totaling 52 people, class IV A as the control class, totaling 26 students, and class IV B as the experimental class, totaling 26 students. The instrument used is a questionnaire used to measure motivation to learn science which has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis uses prerequisite tests, namely the normality test and homogeneity test as well as hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample t-test which is analyzed with the help of the IBM SPSS Statistics 25 program. Based on the research results, it shows a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 < alpha value 0.05. Because of the sign value. 0.000 < 0.05 then accepts the Ha hypothesis and rejects Ho. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of the problem-based learning model on the science learning motivation of class IV students at SDN Inpres 1 Birobuli.

STUDY LITERATURE OF LEARNING VIDEO ON INCREASING MOTIVATION AND SCIENCE LEARNING OUTCOMES IN SMP STUDENTS ON ONLINE LEARNING

During this pandemic, schools must continue to run by continuing to carry out Distance Learning. Based on the results of interviews conducted with science teachers at Junior High School PAB 2 Helvetia, there is a problem, namely the decrease in motivation due to online learning. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of video learning on increasing the science learning motivation of junior high school students in online learning. The method used in this research is the method of literature study or literature study. This study examines 20 national and international science journals about the effect of instructional video media on increasing science learning motivation of junior high school students. Data collection techniques in this study used documentation techniques from national and international journals. The data analysis technique used descriptive qualitative. From the results of research that examined 20 journals, it was found that there was an effect of learning videos on increasing motivation to learn science in junior high school students in online learning, where the existence of learning videos made students understand learning better because of the visual display so as to increase the ease of students in understanding science learning materials.

Hubungan Perilaku Masa Pubertas Remaja dengan Minat dan Motivasi Belajar IPA Biologi pada Siswa SMP Negeri 9 Kendari

Abstract. Adolescent puberty experiences changes in behavior as a result of the work of the gonads which can directly or indirectly affect students' interest and motivation to learn. This study aims to determine the relationship between adolescent puberty behavior and interest and motivation in learning science for Biology students at SMP Negeri 9 Kendari. The population in this study were all students of SMP Negeri 9 Kendari who had experienced puberty as many as 398 people with a total sampling technique (total sampling). The data collection technique was carried out using a questionnaire by presenting a questionnaire and processed and analyzed descriptively and inferentially (chi-square test). The results showed that the behavior of puberty was obtained as many as 36 respondents (9%) had a positive category of behavior and 362 respondents (91%) behaved in a negative category. Interest in learning Science Biology obtained as many as 39 respondents (10%) have an interest in learning in the high category, 338 respondents (85%) have an interest in learning in the medium category, and 21 respondents (5%) have an interest in learning in the low category. Learning motivation for Biology Science was obtained as many as 89 respondents (22%) had a high category of learning motivation, 285 respondents (72%) had a moderate learning motivation, and 24 respondents (6%) had a low learning motivation. The results of statistical tests showed that adolescent puberty behavior was related to interest and motivation in learning Biology Science at SMP Negeri 9 Kendari (p < 0.05).Keywords: adolescent puberty behavior, interest and motivation to learn

Increase Students’ Motivation in Learning Science by Developing Instructional Media in The Form of Powtoon

Online learning that has been carried out more or less in the past year has caused student studying saturation. The provision of material through Youtube videos, articles or handouts in pdf form is generally done by teachers. In fact, technology has provided many alternatives that can be used as more interesting learning media, for example Powtoon. Therefore, this study aims to provide training to teachers in developing materials in the form of Powtoon in order to increase students' learning motivation, especially during online learning. This research includes community service research. The steps taken are; 1) Pre-implementation, in the form of needs analysis, 2) Implementation, in the form of training with Powtoon development materials as learning media, filling out questionnaires, independent work, discussions and 3) Post-implementation, in the form of evaluation of activities. The implementation of the training showed the enthusiasm of the participants as seen from the life of the discussion session. Based on the questionnaire filled out by the participants, the implementation of the training has been well implemented with suggestions for adding other innovative media materials, and improving teacher competence in other matters. In addition, the results of the development and use of Powtoon media carried out by participants showed that students were enthusiastic and motivated in learning
