Kormych L. I., Savon K. V. Symbolic aspects of a state’s image in political communication. – Article.The article considers the image of the state as a part of political communication. Modification of politicalcommunication has a strong interconnection with technical development. The characteristics of communicationsubjects (i.e., political institutions, media, and citizens) reveal the ultimate goal of political communicationthat consists of receiving appropriate reactions and actions from consumers of this communication. Theperception of information changes and the reflection and reaction to the respective information. The specificsof the term political communication are revealed, and such types of communication as visual communication,verbal communication, performance communication, mythological communication, and artistic communicationare given. All these communications are reflected in the construction of the image of the state. The focus ison the symbolic component of the state's image, divided into formal and informal. The formal symbols includethe symbols enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine, and the informal symbols include the citizens, the leaderof the state, and the name of the state. The significance of the Ukrainian State Flag colors and the historicalsubtext of the Ukrainian Coat of Arms, which consists of the Grand Duke Volodymyr Coat of Arms and theCoat of Arms of the Zaporizhia Cossacks Army, are revealed. The research of the Ukrainian President’s communicationwith the audience is grounded upon the study conducted by RMA: “Communication of the Presidentof Ukraine on Facebook and Instagram in comparison with Western leaders”. The main conclusion is thatthe President possesses the vast potential to attract attention to the state as a symbol of a democratic state withfree elections. Research also convincingly proves that social networks are now a communication platform forpolitical activity. The implementation of modern political communication affects the emotional component,affecting the irrational conceptualization of information primarily. In addition to simulacra, which affects thestate's image, there must be specific actions to obtain a positive perception.
