The impact of green finance on labor income share: Evidence from green finance reform and innovation pilot zone

Enhancing the labor income share (LIS) is essential for optimizing the income distribution structure and achieving the goals of Chinese modernization. Through the panel data of Chinese A-share listed enterprises from 2013 to 2022, we construct a multi-period difference-in-differences model to evaluate the effect of the green finance reform and innovation pilot zones (GFRIPZ) on the enterprises’ LIS and its underlying mechanisms. The research results show that: (1) The GFRIPZ significantly increased the LIS of enterprises. And this conclusion still holds after a series of robustness checks. (2) Mechanism analyses indicates that the GFRIPZ primarily enhances the LIS by alleviating enterprises’ financing constraints and increasing operating income. (3) Heterogeneity analyses reveal that, compared to the eastern China and state-owned enterprises, the income effect of GFRIPZ is stronger in the central-western China and non-state-owned enterprises.

The Value of ‘Modernization of Common Prosperity for All’ and its Practical Path

The realization of common prosperity is not only the ardent aspiration of the people as a whole, but also the essential requirement of Chinese modernization and the unremitting goal of the Communist Party of China. Over the past hundred years, the CPC has, in the course of practical exploration of Chinese modernization, realized a critical transcendence of capitalism's modernization of material expansion, and created a modernization path of common prosperity for all people. The practice of common prosperity reveals the inherent spirit of the Chinese road, showing the values that are different from those of Western-style modernization: affluence, justice, harmony and development. From the perspective of historical materialism, the modernization path of the common prosperity of all the people rejects the logic of social division of capital, adheres to the concept of building and sharing, and effectively promotes social justice, which is in line with the criteria of social progress and the value orientation of human historical development.

The representation of disability in Shi’s writing forms an alternative disability discourse that can be highly valuable in shaping social and cultural mindsets on disability. Shi’s disability discourse takes a deep root in Chinese philosophical tradition that understands the world as a dynamic process of transformation between oppositional states. In accordance with this recognition, disability has the potential to be transformed from loss to power, from limitation to freedom, and from an often rejected and excluded element to an indispensable part of diversity in the world.

Exploring the Capabilities of ChatGPT in Ancient Chinese Translation and Person Name Recognition

Abstract This study examines the potential of ChatGPT, notable for its skill in standard modern languages, in the context of ancient Chinese. We focus on two fundamental tasks: translating ancient Chinese into modern Chinese and identifying ancient Chinese names. We conduct experiments on Shi Shuo Xin Yu, which is a collection of anecdotes, short conversations, and pithy observations on personalities who lived in China between about 150 and 420 A.D. We also include other methods, like Baidu Yiyan (ERNIE-Bot) for ancient-to-modern translation, and SIKU-RoBERTa for ancient Chinese name recognition. The results reveal that ChatGPT’s performance in ancient Chinese remains in need of enhancement, but it excels in the task of ancient-to-modern translation with the provision of a few context sentences. For the ancient Chinese name recognition, ChatGPT can outperform SIKU-RoBERTa model in terms of precision, but suffers from low recall.

Analysis of the Affixoid "霸" in Modern Chinese

The affixoid is a linguistic unit in modern Chinese that lies in the middle ground between roots and affixes, and research on the ontology of class affixes, a class of class affixes and a specific class of affixes has already yielded some results. In this paper, we have selected "霸", which has received relatively little attention from previous researchers. In the course of the paper, the main methods used are documentary research, combination of description and interpretation, and corpus analysis. The paper begins with a definition of the affixoid "霸" in the light of previous research on the definition of affixes, explaining the basic features of the affixoid "霸" and classifying its derivatives. This is followed by a specific analysis of the class affixoid "霸" and its derivatives in terms of syntax, semantics and pragmatics. The grammaticalization process of the affixoid "霸" is then analyzed in order to show how people's mental states and situations change.

Chinese Modernization of the Rule of Law: Governance Philosophy, Judicial Logic and Practice Review

The socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics contains a wealth of practical wisdom in governance, and is a scientific methodology for our comprehensive construction of a socialist country under the rule of law. The Party's 20th National Congress deepened the understanding of the regularity of socialist rule of law construction, and expanded and innovated the practical dimension of socialist rule of law thought with Chinese characteristics. The socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics is not a simple construction of the rule of law theory, but a two-way deepening and sublimation of the rule of law theory and the rule of law practice. China's rapid economic development and long-term social stability have broken the "Huntington paradox", which mainly relies on the following two aspects of the rule of law practice. The first is China's unique grass-roots governance model, which is typically represented by Fengqiao experience and Pujiang experience. Fengqiao experience and Pujiang experience are combined fists, closed-loop measures to solve grassroots conflicts and disputes, and typical experiences in the process of China's rule of law practice. The second is "strict justice" and "fair justice". In judicial practice, it is necessary for judicial justice to guarantee the procedural rights of litigants. As two basic practical concepts in the socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics, the concept of grassroots governance and the concept of justice enrich the practical wisdom of the construction of the rule of law in our country and help the transformation of our social governance model.

The discourse mark "wo gei ni shuo" is very important in natural dialogue. This study explores the position, pragmatic function and formation of the discourse mark "wo gei ni shuo". Discourse mark "wo gei ni shuo" has three kinds of position in sentences, among which the highest frequency of use found in middle of sentences, and the semantic meaning is mostly directed to the following information unit; The discourse mark "wo gei ni shuo" has four pragmatic functions of emphasizing information, subjective cognition, suggestion evaluation and imperative. The formation of discourse markers is the result of both lexicalization and grammaticalization. Studying the use position, pragmatic function and formation of discourse marker "wo gei ni shuo" is helpful to the development of text teaching and international Chinese teaching.

Research on the Role of the Third Front Construction in China’s Modernization

The Third Front Construction was a major national strategy implemented by China in the 1960s, aimed at promoting the industrialization of the central and western regions while addressing external security threats. This initiative not only laid a solid foundation for China’s industrialization but also revealed unique paths of Chinese modernization, such as regional coordinated development and the integration of national defense and economic growth. However, the Third Front Construction also brought about environmental degradation and over-exploitation of resources, providing important lessons for contemporary China’s development. In the modernization process, it is crucial to draw on the experiences of the Third Front Construction, focusing on regional coordinated development and enhancing social mobilization capabilities. By summarizing the experiences and lessons of the Third Front Construction, this paper provides historical references and future directions for the development of Chinese-style modernization.

Preposition words Indonesian, such as "for", "to", and "by" are similar to the preposition word "给" in modern Chinese. In this paper, we will analyze the Chinese preposition word "给" and the Indonesian preposition word "for", "to", and "by" to find out each of the functions of the word, so that we can also know the similarities and differences between them. And this can cause, Indonesian students who are learning Mandarin are confused and use it incorrectly. Indonesian students have been using their mother tongue since childhood before they learned Mandarin as their second language, so their mother tongue will definitely have an impact on learning Mandarin as the target language. For example, the order of words in sentences between the two is different, so Indonesian students in the process of learning the preposition word "给", they use it incorrectly. Therefore, for Chinese teachers, we should think about the following points in our teaching: First, as qualified Chinese teachers, we must first understand the difference between Chinese grammar system and Indonesian, so as to remind students to avoid bias at any time in teaching. Secondly, as a teacher, you must be clear about the difficulties and key points in teaching, and repeatedly explain these two points to strengthen students' impressions of these key points and the difficulties to avoid bias in the future. Of course, we must also choose comprehensive textbooks, and for the shortcomings in textbooks, teachers must try their best to make up for these shortcomings.</p>

Evolving heritage in modern China: transforming religious sites for preservation and development

This paper explores the intricate interactions between heritage and religion in modern China, as well as the broader social and political implications of these interactions in relation to national heritage policies and local developmental practices. By conducting a longitudinal analysis of the social history of Baosheng Temple, this research traces its transformations over the past hundred years from a historically religious site to a local built heritage dedicated to preserving and displaying religious relics. This transformation highlights a shift in the role of religious relics from carriers of practice and thought to focal points for heritage preservation, aimed at supporting nation-building and, more recently, promoting local development through the tourism industry. These changes reflect continuous local responses to broader social transformations towards a modern nation-state as well as the influence of Western ideas and practices. The findings of this research illuminate the evolving values associated with religious heritage and the corresponding implications for Chinese modernity within a secular state context.

Short videos of Great Artists on the Douyin platform: Content Analysis and Value

Modern Chinese artists differ significantly in terms of their dissemination power. Some famous artists' short videos can receive hundreds of millions of likes, while others can only get sporadic likes. Xu Beihong, a Chinese modern painter and art educator, played a pivotal role in the history of contemporary Chinese art. The study aim is to explore the common value characteristics of great artists' short videos and fill the research gap by analysing the content, subject matter, and presentation forms related to the artist. Based on the theory of art economics, the study takes the top 100 liked short videos of Xu Beihong on the Douyin platform as the research object. First, the accounts that posted these short videos were analysed. Second, content analysis is used to categorise the content of these short videos. Finally, the value behind the data was assessed. Research has found that many short video accounts featuring artists include commercial windows, and many of these short video contents involve commercial aspects. Favourable evaluations of artists are often associated with higher commercial value of the artworks. The results indicate that audience participation and interaction with artworks offer considerable value on short video platforms. Artworks presented through these new channels provide aesthetic and experiential value. The commercialisation of these artworks represents the value derived from audience behaviour and engagement.

Exploring the Current Status and Direction of Traditional Village Value Assessment Research Based on Citespace

Traditional villages are a valuable "gene pool" for the transmission of outstanding traditional Chinese culture. With the development of Chinese modernization and urbanization, the protection and development of traditional villages have received more and more attention from all levels and subjects of the State, and their value as carriers of history, culture and folklore has been generally recognized. However, there still exists a lack of public awareness of traditional villages, which has brought a great impact on the protection and development of traditional villages. As a result, research themes such as traditional village protection and development strategies, living heritage and centralized and contiguous protection are increasingly being paid attention to and evaluated by all sectors of society.The purpose of this paper is to analyze the knowledge mapping of the literature related to the value assessment of traditional villages at home and abroad through the application of CiteSpace software, to sort out and summarize the literature, and to discuss its future development direction in a targeted manner, so as to provide scientific guidance and reference for future research on the value assessment of traditional villages.

The discourses of green modernization and eco-civilizational progress in contemporary China: convergence, tension and mutual learning

“Chinese modernization”, articulated systematically by the working report to the 20th National Congress of Communist Party of China(CPC) in 2022, has been gradually become a worldwide-known popular concept, which emphasizes harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature as one of its “five unique features”. A significant change arisen from it is that, two green theoretical discourses of “eco-civilizational progress” and “green modernization” in contemporary China have historically converged. In the Chinese context, the two discourses can be to a large extent understood as characteristic forms of a more general green discourse. Both the goals or the objectives to be transformed and the dependent environment are common or shared. As self-contained discursive theories, though, there are also noticeable differences and even a certain degree of tension between them. An ideal situation would be that, on the one hand, both of them are consciously put under a broader framework of green discourse theory, from which they can mutually learn and promote from each other, and on the other hand, it is expected that that can better serve China’s practice of building a modern socialist country in all respects.
