Purpose: To establish and substantiate the aspects of modeling the functioning of agricultural landscapes in the Zhytomyr region; to analyse the processes of landscape modeling construction; to provide a historical and landscape interpretation of changes in the nature of the Zhytomyr region under the influence of agricultural land use. Design / Methodology / Approach: Landscape modelling, cartographic, calculation and design, analysis and evaluation of ecological and landscape land management for modelling the functioning of agricultural land use. Findings: The article examines and substantiates the process of modelling and functioning of agricultural landscapes of the Zhytomyr region. It was established that the ability of mankind to use and adapt the environment to create a comfortable life and favourable production conditions requires increased attention to regional issues of nature protection and society’s attitude to it, interaction of various types of human activity with the geographical environment. It has been proven that the most important task today is the regulation of society's relationship with nature, its rational use and protection, which is understood as the prevention of damage and adverse consequences of human intervention, as well as reasonable forecasting of possible environmental changes. As a result of the research, it was found that the agricultural landscape arises as a result of intensive agricultural production (vegetables, horticulture, livestock, poultry, etc.). The creation of such a landscape is accompanied not only by changing the territory with the removal of those objects that interfere with work, but also by the construction of embankments, ponds, irrigation canals, etc. The territorial arrangement of the agricultural landscape is important, especially for the optimization of economic activity. Its task is the rational distribution of territories of various functional purposes and uses. Originality / Value: As a result of the research, it was found that the agricultural landscape arises as a result of intensive agricultural production (vegetables, horticulture, livestock, poultry, etc.). As a result, prerequisites are created for increasing the efficiency of land use, agrotechnical technologies, implementation of rational and ecologically clean farming systems, implementation of measures to increase fertility and soil protection. Intensive use of nature has led to deterioration of soil and surface water quality; accumulation of significant volumes of solid and liquid waste; air pollution from vehicles and industrial production; landscape changes and biodiversity. Practical Meaning: Modelling the functioning of agricultural landscapes in the Zhytomyr region is important for understanding the geographical patterns of the spatial organisation of nature and human activity. Further Research: The obtained results can be used in the further study of agricultural landscapes of the Zhytomyr region. Theoretical and practical material of scientific research can be used in the process of retraining and improving the qualifications of teachers of biology, ecology, geography.
