Voice Based Water Dispenser Automation method using controller is the plan will be very useful for old age people and disabled people, basically one’s who cannot achieve basic actions efficiently. It is the idea Corresponds to the new area of automation and technology. This presents the design and implementation of a low cost but flexible Secure voice based hot and cold-water dispenser system. The Between the cell phone and the controller board is wireless. Voice Command sends from mobile to the micro controller, to understand whether the water required by the person should be hot or cold. The Micro controller processes the information to the IR sensor to Determine where the glass is placed below the pipe or not. The method uses IR sensors to detect the presence of stream beaker and then the IR sensor sends the signal to the micro controller about the presence of the glass, accordingly the motor starts and the Water flows though the pipes from the particular jar (hot/cold). Effects of group communication norms on daily steps in a team-based financial incentive mobile phone intervention in Shanghai, China

BackgroundMobile technology offers great potential for physical activity promotion, especially by facilitating online communication, however, the impact of group communication norms on intervention effectiveness remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the effect on daily steps of a team-based social norms-related intervention using a mobile application.MethodsThe 13-week quasi-experimental study was conducted in Shanghai, China, from September to November 2019, involving 2,985 employees from 32 worksites. For the intervention group (n = 2,049), participants set a goal of 10,000 steps per day. The teams and individual members would receive points for meeting the daily goal, contributing to team-based rankings and financial rewards for the teams and their members. In addition, the intervention teams created dedicated WeChat groups to facilitate communication, which were also used to collect group chat messages. The communication type in these groups was classified into four types: (1) nudging – encouraging team members to be more active, (2) sharing – exchanging the completion of daily step goals, (3) feedback – providing responses or suggestions to team members, and (4) other -diverse topics that could not be classified otherwise. The control group only tracked their steps online.ResultsThe weekly average steps of the intervention group increased by 2,523 steps, while the control group increased by 470 steps. In the first 3 weeks of follow-up, the frequency of nudging of 7–18 times/week had a positive cumulative effect on the step counts. Sharing more than 3 times/week had a positive cumulative effect. Over 6 and 13 weeks of follow-up, nudging 19 times/week or more had a positive cumulative effect while sharing and feedback at any frequency negatively affected average weekly steps.ConclusionsCommunication types within a team affected team-based step counts in a financial incentive intervention. The team-level social norms related to communications might have different cumulative effects on team-level physical activity. ‘nudging’ messages had a significant association with the change in individual-level step counts in the medium or long term.Trial registrationPilot Project of the application of walking incentive technology in occupational groups, 2019, ChiCTR1900023813. A Comprehensive Review on Smartphone Overuse: Analysing Its Influence on Physical Health and Social Relationships in the Digital Age

The aim of this paper is to analyse trends by reviewing the growing body of research on smartphone overuse in humans. This literature review focuses exclusively on original research articles. It begins by explaining key concepts, such as the levels and symptoms of smartphone usage excessively. There is a term “Nomophobia” which is frequently linked to poor mobile technology use. It, often known as "no-mobile-phone phobia," is the anxiety of not being able to use or reachable via one's cell phone. Additionally, it highlights the fundamental challenges and methodological issues discussed in the existing studies. The paper explores the relationship between student smartphone overuse and academic performance. While some researchers have identified gender differences in smartphone usage, others have found minimal correlation between gender and smartphone use. Several studies also link smartphone usage pattern to musculoskeletal problems. Moreover, research indicates that mobile phone use while driving is a major contributor to road accidents today. Also, it is crucial to understanding the impact of negative side of mobile phone usage on mental health, academic performance, and social interactions. Researches on this topic helps in developing effective interventions and policies to promote healthier usage habits. Therefore, raising awareness about smartphone overuse and its consequences is crucial. Parents should actively monitor their children’s schedules to help prevent them from developing a dependency on mobile devices.

Nomophobia, phubbing, and deficient sleep patterns in college students

In the current context, excessive mobile device use has led to new issues, such as nomophobia—an irrational fear of being without a mobile phone—and phubbing, which involves ignoring nearby people in favor of using one’s phone. These behaviors are increasingly prevalent among young people, particularly in university settings, and can negatively impact well-being, including the emergence of poor sleep patterns. Given that sleep is essential for academic performance and mental health, examining how nomophobia and phubbing relate to disruptions in university students’ sleep habits is crucial. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between nomophobia, phubbing, and poor sleep patterns among university students, determine whether nomophobia and phubbing are significant predictors of these patterns, and examine the individual contribution of each variable on sleep. A non-experimental, cross-sectional, quantitative design with correlational-explanatory scope was used, conducted from March to June 2023. The sample consisted of 533 students from a private university in Peru, aged 18 to 24, selected through non-probabilistic sampling. Data were collected using the Short Nomophobia Questionnaire (SNQ-5) and the Brief Phubbing Scale (BPS-6), validated instruments with strong internal consistency. The results showed moderate positive correlations between nomophobia, phubbing, and poor sleep patterns. Linear regression analysis indicated that the predictor variables explained 45.1% of the variance in poor sleep patterns. Nomophobia significantly affected all three analyzed sleep patterns (late nights, insomnia, and short sleep), whereas phubbing significantly impacted only short sleep. The findings underscore the importance of addressing excessive mobile device use in university settings, as both nomophobia and phubbing affect students’ sleep quality. Future research is recommended to explore their impact on mental health and evaluate interventions to mitigate these phenomena and their implications for academic performance.

Uncovering the Links Between Problematic Smartphone Usage and Subjective Vitality: The Role of Mindful Parenting and Parenting Stress.

In recent years, scientific research has increasingly focused on the relationship between parents' mobile phone usage and parenting. As smartphones have become pervasive among parents, concerns have arisen regarding how this usage might influence parenting practices and well-being. Therefore, studies that examine the relationship between parents' technology usage-particularly smartphone usage-and their well-being and parenting practices are of significant value. Such research can provide deeper insights into how technology shapes family dynamics and parental roles over time. Our research aimed to investigate the relationships among problematic smartphone usage, mindful parenting, parenting stress, and subjective vitality. The study involved a cross-lagged panel design with two waves of longitudinal research, and parents with at least one child between the ages of 1 and 14 participated. The results revealed that problematic smartphone use has a negative correlation with mindful parenting and subjective vitality, while it has a positive correlation with parenting stress. Serial mediation analysis showed that mindful parenting and parenting stress, both longitudinally and sequentially, mediate the relationship between problematic smartphone usage and subjective vitality. These findings suggest that problematic smartphone use adversely affects parents' well-being by increasing stress and reducing mindful engagement in parenting. Interventions focusing on reducing problematic smartphone use and enhancing mindful parenting practices may improve parental well-being and reduce stress.

Flexible Vibration Sensors with Omnidirectional Sensing Enabled by Femtosecond Laser-Assisted Fabrication

Vibration sensors are integral to a multitude of engineering applications, yet the development of low-cost, easily assembled devices remains a formidable challenge. This study presents a highly sensitive flexible vibration sensor, based on the piezoresistive effect, tailored for the detection of high-dynamic-range vibrations and accelerations. The sensor’s design incorporates a polylactic acid (PLA) housing with cavities and spherical recesses, a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) membrane, and electrodes that are positioned above. Employing femtosecond laser ablation and template transfer techniques, a parallel groove array is created within the flexible polymer sensing layer. This includes conductive pathways, and integrates stainless-steel balls as oscillators to further amplify the sensor’s sensitivity. The sensor’s performance is evaluated over a frequency range of 50 Hz to 400 Hz for vibrations and from 1 g to 5 g for accelerations, exhibiting a linear correlation coefficient of 0.92 between the sensor’s voltage output and acceleration. It demonstrates stable and accurate responses to vibration signals from devices such as drills and mobile phone ringtones, as well as robust responsiveness to omnidirectional and long-distance vibrations. The sensor’s simplicity in microstructure fabrication, ease of assembly, and low cost render it highly promising for applications in engineering machinery with rotating or vibrating components.

Academic Entitlement and Expectations: Instructor Responses to Student Cell Phone Use in Class

ABSTRACT This study investigated how and why academic entitlement shifts the expectations of students about instructor responses to student cell phone use in class. Framed in variables from expectancy violation theory and communication competence, the experiment (N = 480) indicated that violation valence, violation importance, and violation expectedness were influenced by faculty responses (or lack of response) to off-task cell phone use. In addition, communication competence judgments were influenced by faculty responses to cell phone use. Academic entitlement was also negatively associated with violation importance and perceptions of faculty appropriateness. The most expected and appropriate response reported was faculty requesting that students put away their cell phones rather than assigning a point deduction or ignoring the off-task cell phone use.

Why can parents’ phubbing affect mobile phone addiction? Perspective of the I-PACE model

ObjectiveBased on the I-PACE model, this study investigated the longitudinal relationship between parents’ phubbing and mobile phone addiction, as well as the serial mediating effects of maladaptive cognition and ego depletion.MethodsA longitudinal study, with data collected at two time points over a six-month interval to test the proposed hypotheses. The independent variable was measured at Time 1 (T1), while the mediators and dependent variables were assessed at Time 2 (T2). A total of 591 middle school students from a city in central China was recruited to complete the parents’ phubbing scale, maladaptive cognition scale, ego depletion scale and mobile phone addiction scale.Results(1) The correlation analysis showed a significant positive correlation between T1 parents’ phubbing, T2 maladaptive cognition, T2 ego depletion, and T2 mobile phone addiction. (2) Maladaptive cognition was found to mediate the relationship between parent’s phubbing and mobile phone addiction. Similarly, ego depletion also mediated the relationship between parent’s phubbing and mobile phone addiction. Additionally, both maladaptive cognition and ego depletion functioned as serial mediators between parent’s phubbing and mobile phone addiction.ConclusionThis study provides evidence that parental phubbing serves as a longitudinal predictor of mobile phone addiction, with maladaptive cognition and ego depletion acting as key mediators in this process.

Natural language processing to evaluate texting conversations between patients and healthcare providers during COVID-19 Home-Based Care in Rwanda at scale.

Community isolation of patients with communicable infectious diseases limits spread of pathogens but our understanding of isolated patients' needs and challenges is incomplete. Rwanda deployed a digital health service nationally to assist public health clinicians to remotely monitor and support SARS-CoV-2 cases via their mobile phones using daily interactive short message service (SMS) check-ins. We aimed to assess the texting patterns and communicated topics to better understand patient experiences. We extracted data on all COVID-19 cases and exposed contacts who were enrolled in the WelTel text messaging program between March 18, 2020, and March 31, 2022, and linked demographic and clinical data from the national COVID-19 registry. A sample of the text conversation corpus was English-translated and labeled with topics of interest defined by medical experts. Multiple natural language processing (NLP) topic classification models were trained and compared using F1 scores. Best performing models were applied to classify unlabeled conversations. Total 33,081 isolated patients (mean age 33·9, range 0-100), 44% female, including 30,398 cases and 2,683 contacts) were registered in WelTel. Registered patients generated 12,119 interactive text conversations in Kinyarwanda (n = 8,183, 67%), English (n = 3,069, 25%) and other languages. Sufficiently trained large language models (LLMs) were unavailable for Kinyarwanda. Traditional machine learning (ML) models outperformed fine-tuned transformer architecture language models on the native untranslated language corpus, however, the reverse was observed of models trained on English-only data. The most frequently identified topics discussed included symptoms (69%), diagnostics (38%), social issues (19%), prevention (18%), healthcare logistics (16%), and treatment (8·5%). Education, advice, and triage on these topics were provided to patients. Interactive text messaging can be used to remotely support isolated patients in pandemics at scale. NLP can help evaluate the medical and social factors that affect isolated patients which could ultimately inform precision public health responses to future pandemics.

THE ROLE OF RELATIONSHIP MARKETING IN CONSUMER PURCHASE DECISION: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY

Objective: This study seeks to investigate the function of relationship marketing in consumer purchasing decisions. Theoretical Framework: As a result of the significant changes witnessed in the last millennium at the global level in all spheres of life, perhaps the most prominent is the shift from the planned economy to the market economy, as well as the pressures of intense competition, the emergence of globalization, the information and technology revolution, the rise in levels of foreign investment, and the enormous increase in the number and types of products, services, and brands. It significantly influenced the decisions of consumers. Method: Our study consists of a qualitative setting; thus, we have utilized the depth method, which helped us clarify the relation between consumer purchase decisions and relationship marketing from the perspective of both the consumer and the company, using semi-structured and unstructured interviews. Results and Discussion: The results indicate that the foundation for achieving growth and sustainability in the markets is to attract the greatest number of customers possible, to strive for their satisfaction and gain loyalty, to work on establishing permanent partnership relationships with all customers, and to treat each customer as if it were its market division. Research Implications: From a managerial application perspective, an understanding of consumers' expectations of their relationships with sellers would assist marketers in establishing, enhancing, and maintaining these relationships. Marketers need to identify how they can use customer data to improve customer relationships. Permission from customers can provide marketers with the privilege of contacting customers; information such as customer needs makes possible the customization of products and services; and data about the initiation and growth of customer relationships help to ensure effective and timely feedback. Marketers can informally survey their customers by asking about the relevance of various services, or they can formally survey their customers to gain more in-depth customer-specific information. Originality/Value: The findings provide insight into consumers' motivations and attitudes with regard to relationship marketing and suggest a way forward for further research. In particular, a number of ways in which mobile phone companies might seek to encourage consumers to consider value-added service propositions more seriously and become less solely price-sensitive are proposed.

The Study of the Influence of the Educational Environment on the Deterioration of the Health of Medical University Students

One of the important socio-hygienic indicators of public health is the prevalence of eye diseases. According to the WHO World Vision Report, the problem of visual impairment is global in nature. It is noted that at least 2.2 billion people suffer from visual impairment worldwide. There is a worldwide trend of increasing the annual increase in ophthalmic patients in all population groups. This article discusses the problem of deterioration of ophthalmological health of students. During their studies at the university, the health of students deteriorates, there is an increase in chronic pathology, including ophthalmology. By the end of the institute, about 50-70% of students have visual impairments. The article considers the issues of the influence of students' learning conditions outside educational institutions on the deterioration of ophthalmological health. The students of the medical university were studied by means of a questionnaire. It is established that more than 90% of students prepare for classes in comfortable home conditions. About a third of the students are engaged in self-training in the prone position. And among them, there is a higher percentage of people with progressive posture disorders and progressive visual impairment compared to those who practice sitting. The high intensity of the educational process with prolonged, more than 4 hours a day, use of electronic devices, including mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, desktop computers, is accompanied by a large visual load and leads to visual fatigue in 72.8% of the studied. The obtained data state the need to take them into account for the development of a set of preventive measures aimed at continuing the formation of healthy lifestyle attitudes among students, attracting internists, orthopedists, ophthalmologists, hygienists, since prevention and compliance with hygienic standards play a crucial role in maintaining the health of every person.

Digital health for early psychosis in Ghana: patient and caregiver needs and preferences

In West Africa, the long-term consequences of poor early psychosis recovery include poverty, neglect, and community ostracization. To understand the potential for digital health approaches to support early psychosis care in Ghana, we conducted a survey study among early psychosis patients and their caregivers about mental health needs, technology use and access, and interest in digital mental health. Hospital staff at Accra Psychiatric Hospital reviewed hospital medical records from January 2023 - December 2023 identifying young adults (≥18 years old) who had experienced psychosis symptoms for the first time within the prior five years. Trained data assessors contacted these individuals via telephone and invited them and their caregivers to participate; those providing informed consent were interviewed via phone in Twi or English. Overall, 256 individuals participated in the survey, including 121 young adults experiencing early psychosis and 135 caregivers of early psychosis patients. The majority (80%) of early psychosis patients and their caregivers expressed interest in digital mental health for early psychosis and had access to a mobile phone (91%) and necessary mobile infrastructure. Early psychosis patients were most interested in information about managing stress and improving mood via a digital resource (72%). Caregivers desired a digital tool to provide information about psychosis symptoms (86%). Our study among those experiencing early psychosis and their caregivers in Ghana suggests readiness and acceptability of digital mental health for early psychosis care.

Potential effects of Whatsapp on maternal health services uptake during COVID-19: a cross-sectional study in Ghana

BackgroundDuring the COVID-19 pandemic period Health Care Practitioners (HCPs) were seen to facilitate healthcare delivery by using their mobile phones also known as “informal mHealth”, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). WhatsApp has become popular in recent years with over 380 million users. It has therefore been identified that the effective use of WhatsApp by HCP for health could positively impact it. This study aims to assess the potential effect of the use of WhatsApp by HCPs on Maternal Health Services (MHS) uptake during the COVID-19 pandemic in four primary healthcare facilities in the Kwadaso Municipality of Ghana.MethodsA cross-sectional study design was adopted using a quantitative approach involving a census sampling technique to collect data on monthly Maternal Health Services (MHS) attendance from the District Health Information Management Systems (DHIMS 2). Data collection was for the period March 2019 to February 2020 and March 2020 to February 2021.ResultsDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, the introduction of WhatsApp as a mHealth intervention helped improve maternal health case management and patient confidence. This led to a 5.64% (p=0.02) increase in ANC attendance and a 5.62% (p=0.02) rise in health facility deliveries. However, although PNC service attendance dropped slightly (7.06%, p=0.95), it was not statistically significant. Overall, key maternal health indicators showed significant improvements from 2019 to 2021 COVID-19 period.ConclusionWhatsApp usage by HCPs for a positive and timely patient management showed an increased attendance for ANC and delivery services in Ghana during the COVID-19 pandemic. This reveals that the use of WhatsApp for maternal health services referrals can be used as a communication tool for the management of high-risk obstetric referrals also.

Abstract— Technology advancements have made it possible for computers to be included into portable electronics like cell phones and laptops. The standard QWERTY keyboard, however, continues to be the principal input method. In this research, a virtual keyboard application that creates a visual representation of a keyboard using image processing is proposed. The camera will be used to record hand motions as typing inputs, making the virtual keyboard usable and accessible. The creation of a virtual mouse that recognises fingers as inputs follows the same principle. To operate the mouse, hand motions will be captured by the camera. By utilizing the camera to retrieve a picture of a keyboard or mouse and record the typing and mouse motions, a virtual keyboard and mouse will be generated. Parent–Child Online Interaction and the Well‐Being of Children in Rural China: The Effects of Family Social Capital and Parental Migration

ABSTRACTExisting empirical evidence supports the close relationships between parent–child interactions and child well‐being outcomes. Internet and mobile phone–mediated communication has facilitated interaction between children and their family members, which can be related to increased family social capital for the welfare of children. The objectives of the present study were to examine the associations between parental–child online interactions, family social capital and child well‐being in rural China and to investigate the moderating role of parental migration in these associations. A sample of 1384 secondary school students (47.6% girls, mean age = 14.14 years) participated in the survey and answered questions about their interaction with parents, family structure and relationships and well‐being. A series of regression analyses showed that parent–child online interactions were positively associated with child well‐being by increasing children's family social capital at three parental migration patterns. Furthermore, there is no significant difference in the moderating mediating effect between non–left‐behind children and children whose one parent migrated. The findings provide evidence for the potential beneficial effects of parent–child online interactions on child well‐being and have implications for policies and practices that support the use of the Internet and mobile devices among children living in disadvantaged situations.

UTILIZATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MARKETING INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND STRATEGIES

This research study develops a model that integrates marketing information systems and strategic levels and examines the implementation of these systems at each strategic level. To achieve the first objective, the role played by the CEO or manager at each strategic level and the specific information systems required for each case are the starting points of the study. To achieve the second objective, a qualitative method is applied, and the technique used is in-depth interviews. The study shows that companies do use all four marketing information systems, although with different emphases, depending on the strategic level. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has developed rapidly and penetrated various aspects of life, from simple applications on mobile phones to complex systems in industry and scientific research. In general, AI is defined as the ability of a computer system to imitate human cognitive functions, such as learning, reasoning, and problem solving. The development of AI is driven by the availability of abundant data (big data), increasing computing power, and advances in algorithms.
