Emergence of energy optimization in MIMO-OFDM communication system with hybrid teamwork-grasshopper optimization

Abstract In the application of mobile multimedia and wireless communication system needs an enormous amount of data. Due to the usage of a huge data rate, a superior amount of energy is offered to BER, which effectively enhances the entire energy consumption rate in the system, and also, the generation of CO2 emission leads to global warming. Hence, professionals searched for energy-efficient approaches for attaining enhanced data rates in wireless communication systems. Then, professionals observed the energy efficacy as well as QoS as an essential factor in developing and validating the mobile multimedia communication system that has created superior interest in recent days. In this paper, energy-efficient models are suggested for MIMO-OFDM mobile multimedia communication systems with statistical QoS constraints. Hence, this research suggests a new MTGSO for energy optimization in the MIMO-OFDM mobile multimedia communication system to improve spectral efficiency and system capacity. Thus, the empirical result of the designed method attains better performance regarding average power constraints, achieving 29.8 %, 21.3 %, 123.8 %, and 4.2 % enhanced than SSO, FOA, GSO, and TOA. This energy-efficient hybrid algorithm for MIMO-OFDM proves its efficiency in terms of various performance measures and statistical measures.

An energy efficiency perceptive on MIMO‐OFDM systems using hybrid fruit fly‐based salp swarm optimization technique

AbstractThis paper is to plan for the development of energy‐efficient MIMO‐OFDM mobile multimedia communication systems using the intelligent meta‐heuristic approach. This model is concentrated on solving the multi‐channel optimization problem. Recent research work is focused on single‐channel optimization problems, and hence the conversion of multi‐channel optimization problems into single‐channel optimization problems is considered the challenging point in this research. In the proposed MIMO‐OFDM method for mobile multimedia communication systems, the channel‐matrix Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) method is used for implementing the sub‐channel grouping scheme, which has simplified the multichannel problem to a multi‐target single‐channel optimization problem. In this optimization problem, the transmission power‐allocation threshold is optimized for attaining the objective function of maximization of energy efficiency. A hybridized optimization algorithm named Hybrid Fruit Fly‐based Salp Swarm Optimization (HFF‐SSO) is utilized for energy optimization in the MIMO‐OFDM mobile multimedia communication system. This hybrid algorithm has reached an energy‐efficient system with a high convergence rate, which is proved by the comparison over the conventional systems.

Double-Lead Content Search And Producer Location Prediction Scheme For Producer Mobility In Named Data Networking

Abstract In recent years, Named Data Network (NDN) has become a popular network architecture because of high resource utilization, strong security and high transmission efficiency. Meanwhile, mobile multimedia communication has become the mainstream with the popularization and application of smart terminals. Most of the research on NDN mobility is focused on consumer mobility without taking producer mobility into account. To solve the delay and high cost carried by producer moving, we propose a Double-Lead content search algorithm based on neighbor and proxy and a location prediction algorithm based on traffic features. We use a neural network model to predict a new location of producers and calculate route before switching, which can save the rerouting latency in advance when predicting accurately. In a few cases of inaccurate predictions, we select different search methods according to the distance of the producer’s movement, to complete the Double-Lead search between the producer and the consumer. Experimental results show that DLPNDN can reduce the delay and traffic overhead well in NDN when the producer moves.

VQProtect: Lightweight Visual Quality Protection for Error-Prone Selectively Encrypted Video Streaming.

Mobile multimedia communication requires considerable resources such as bandwidth and efficiency to support Quality-of-Service (QoS) and user Quality-of-Experience (QoE). To increase the available bandwidth, 5G network designers have incorporated Cognitive Radio (CR), which can adjust communication parameters according to the needs of an application. The transmission errors occur in wireless networks, which, without remedial action, will result in degraded video quality. Secure transmission is also a challenge for such channels. Therefore, this paper’s innovative scheme “VQProtect” focuses on the visual quality protection of compressed videos by detecting and correcting channel errors while at the same time maintaining video end-to-end confidentiality so that the content remains unwatchable. For the purpose, a two-round secure process is implemented on selected syntax elements of the compressed H.264/AVC bitstreams. To uphold the visual quality of data affected by channel errors, a computationally efficient Forward Error Correction (FEC) method using Random Linear Block coding (with complexity of ) is implemented to correct the erroneous data bits, effectively eliminating the need for retransmission. Errors affecting an average of 7–10% of the video data bits were simulated with the Gilbert–Elliot model when experimental results demonstrated that 90% of the resulting channel errors were observed to be recoverable by correctly inferring the values of erroneous bits. The proposed solution’s effectiveness over selectively encrypted and error-prone video has been validated through a range of Video Quality Assessment (VQA) metrics.

Developing e-Market Information System Android Based in Minahasa Regency

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic which limits humans from interacting directly, the trade sector, in this case buying and selling in traditional markets, is hampered. Therefore, the researcher took the initiative to create an innovation, namely an Android-based E-Market Information System application that helps improve the community's economy during the COVID-19 pandemic, while providing an alternative to digital sales when entering the new normal period. In this study also tested the feasibility level of the software that has been made. This research method is Design and Build using the system development method with the Waterfall model. Software testing is done through black-box testing, McCall's Quality Factor as an indicator to determine the level of software feasibility with a measurement scale using a Likert Scale. Interviews and questionnaires are techniques used to collect data, while data analysis techniques use descriptive quantitative analysis. The mandatory output targeted for this research is developing an E-Market information system in Minahasa. In addition, the results of this study are to be published in an International Journal, namely the Journal of Mobile Computing and Multimedia Communications as an additional output

Mobile Image Communications Using Deep Neural Networks for Heterogeneous User Devices in MIMO Channels

This article considers a mobile multimedia communication scenario in which two types of heterogeneous users with different numbers of antennas and different display resolutions are served within the same service area. We propose an efficient image transmission scheme that makes use of deep neural network-based super-resolution techniques, spatial diversity, and diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) achieving codes. The proposed scheme transmits a low-resolution (LR) image to two types of users, along with residual pixel-error map that contains high-frequency details of high-resolution (HR) images and is produced by a convex optimization technique. Then, a user retaining an HR screen employs super-resolution to reconstruct an HR image from the received LR image, and also exploits the residual map to further enhance the image quality. Our scheme properly trains deep neural network models for super-resolution, based on the source coding rates of the images to be transmitted over bandwidth-limited multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels. That is, various quantization errors resulting from image compression are considered when training the deep neural network-based super-resolution models. For MIMO systems, considering and utilizing the relationship between the number of antennas and the screen resolution, which is based on hardware space of user devices, the proposed scheme encodes an LR image with spatial diversity techniques, and encodes a residual pixel-error map with DMT-achieving codes. Numerical evaluation shows that our scheme significantly outperforms the strategy that broadcasts either HR or LR images to two types of heterogeneous users.

An Energy Efficient OFDM–MIMO Systems for Multimedia Data Transmission Based on Hybrid Fuzzy Approach

In a 4G cellular communication system, energy efficiency and power consumption are the key parameters in evaluating and designing communication system in multimedia. In this paper, an efficient model with high energy is proposed for multiple input multiple output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO–OFDM) mobile multimedia systems with less power consumption. Providing high-speed video coding technique, which is designed to substantially improve coding efficiency compared with other coding techniques. Next to that erasures coding and Wyner–Ziv coding is used for encoding and compression process. Finally, efficient energy based optimized power allocation with hybrid Fuzzy Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm is presented to reduce the power consumption of MIMO–OFDM mobile multimedia communication systems. The value of power which is consumed at the 30th iteration is 20 W and the energy efficiency is 92% for the 20 W power. Experimental results show that the proposed hybrid Fuzzy GWO algorithm can assure the required service with maximum efficiency in MIMO–OFDM.

Application of multimedia health education in patients with endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography minimally invasive treatment

Objective To evaluate the effect of mobile nursing workstation multimedia module applied to preoperative health education of patients with minimally invasive endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) . Methods By convenience sampling, 100 patients who met the inclusion criteria in-hospitalized in Department of Digestive Medicine, Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital, Capital Medical University from January to June of 2018 were selected and divided into the observation group (n=44) and control group (n=44) according to the random number table. Conventional education approach of oral teaching and distribution of teaching materials was adopted in the control group, besides of that the observation group received the intensive teaching approach through mobile nursing platform multimedia and open communication. The knowledge mastering status, satisfactory degree and anxiety scores were compared between the two groups after health education. Results In the observation group, the score of knowledge mastering status was (33.00±9.41) , satisfactory degree was (23.45±1.18) , both higher than the control group [ (28.82±7.48) , (17.61±1.95) ] with statistical difference (P<0.05) ; the observation group achieved lower score in anxiety than the control group with statistical difference (P<0.01) . Conclusion The use of mobile nursing platform multimedia teaching method can improve the quality of health education for patients with minimally invasive ERCP treatment and patient satisfaction, alleviate the anxiety of patients. End-to-middle-to-end solution for IMS media plane security

IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) is becoming the prevailing candidate for managing future mobile multimedia communications, including critical communications such as public safety, emergency professionals and corporate networks. IMS security and privacy has gained much attention in the few last years. The review of recent IMS security activities stresses the inclusion of intermediate nodes in the media path of secured communications as an open issue. This paper presents an end-to-middle-to-end solution which enables the usage of IMS media plane elements such as recorders, transcoders and novel cross-ciphering functions in a secure way. The proposed solution, which is fully compliant with IMS, includes the network architecture, the signaling plane for session signaling and key management, and the media-plane security characteristics. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed solution can provide media interoperability (both transcoding and cross-ciphering) with a cost of 17 % overhead to a standard IMS call setup in the signaling plane.

A Low-Power VLSI Implementation of RFIR Filter Design using Radix-2 Algorithm with LCSLA

ABSTRACT The multimedia applications and mobile communication systems require an efficient reconfigurable finite impulse response (RFIR) filter designs for achieving low area, power, cost, and high speed of system operation. In this paper, an efficient RFIR filter is designed based on the Radix-2 algorithm and Look-up-table Carry Select Adder (Radix 2 – LCSLA). Generally, the RFIR filter is controlled by multiplier and adder, which improves the performances of the filter. Hence, this research work is mostly concentrated on the multiplier and adder design. Here, the radix-2 algorithm is used instead of normal multiplier for multiplication operation in the RFIR filter design. Additionally, CSLA and LCSLA approaches used in the Radix-2 structure for adding partial products. The LCSLA has achieved better performance compared to the normal CSLA approaches. In this paper, both the Radix-2 algorithm and LCSLA approach improved the performances of the proposed RFIR filter design. The proposed RFIR filter design was implemented in the Xilinx and Cadence RTL compiler by using the Verilog code. The RFIR-Radix 2-LCSLA filter design was verified in the Modelsim by utilizing the Verilog code. The experimental result showed that the RFIR-Radix 2-LCSLA methodology has improved the performance of ASIC and FPGA in the RFIR filter design up to 5–15% compared to the existing filter architecture: DA-RFIR and LC-CBA-RFIR methods.

5G Multimedia Communications: Theory, Technology, and Application

The five papers in this special section focus on fifth generation mobile (5G) multimedia communications. Multimedia systems are becoming a part of daily life in our society, industry, and academia. Meanwhile, intensive research toward the fifth generation wireless communication networks is progressing in many fronts, addressing higher mobile data volume, typical user data rate, number of connected devices, and lower end-to-end latency. Due to the challenges of supporting such multimedia information in terms of compression, encoding, transmission, processing, synchronization, storage and mining, traditional multimedia communications, and processing schemes cannot handle effectively in the 5G environment. There is a growing demand of developing and designing theory, technologies and applications for 5G multimedia communications. In the context of 5G wireless communication networks, new theory and technologies will support a diversity of multimedia applications, such as surveillance video, entertainment and social media, voice and video, medical image, business transactions, and Internet-of-Things-based streams.

Online Teaching System of Sports Training Based on Mobile Multimedia Communication Platform

At present, most of the sports training and teaching systems are not effective because of relatively narrow scope of teaching content, lack of communication between teachers and students, and long response time of the system. Therefore, an online sports training teaching system based on mobile multimedia communication platform is proposed. Demand analysis and overall structure of the online sports training teaching system is carried out and established. On this basis, the corresponding functional modules are designed. Second, SQL server database is used to store, protect, and manage large amounts of data. BP neural network-based student evaluation module is analyzed to ensure real-time feedback of student learning results. Finally, taking the students of a college that select basketball elective course as an empirical research object. The online sports training teaching system realizes networked student learning and teacher-student exchange. Moreover, response time of the system is tested. Experimental results show the proposed method verified effectiveness of the system and achieved the purpose of this article.

Optimal matching between energy saving and traffic load for mobile multimedia communication

SummaryOptimizing cell locations of cellular networks is one of the most fundamental problems of network design. However, in order to meet a growing appetite for mobile data services, a large number of base stations are being deployed, which leads to tremendous energy consumption in cellular networks. This augmentation increases not only the system's capital and operational expenditure (CAPEX/OPEX) for mobile operators but also CO2 emissions. Besides the issue of meeting overwhelming traffic demands, network operators around the world now realize the importance of managing their cellular networks in an energy‐efficient manner. In this paper, we develop a self‐organizing framework for energy saving in orthogonal frequency‐division multiple‐access–based cellular access networks. We consider three different objectives, namely, coverage maximization, overlap minimization, and power consumption minimization, which is different from all existing works on energy saving in cellular networks.

Dynamic data driven big data cooperative control scheme with virtual visualization for mobile multimedia communication

In order to improve the quality of user experience of the wireless mobile multimedia communication and the mobile multimedia communication control efficiency, based on the little data and big data visualization, this paper proposed a mobile multimedia cooperative control algorithm. Firstly, the scale and content of the data generated by the wireless intelligent mobile terminal were considered in heterogeneous network environment. The paper established the consistency guarantee scheme of multimedia data. The control scheme of bandwidth allocation, small data distortion and channel state scheduling are presented. Then, based on the multimedia data frame sequence description of the entity mobile multimedia, according to user needs and three-dimensional space to reorganize the multimedia data. This kind of multimedia data can be used to control the quality of the user by multi dimension cross control of the multimedia stream and the entity captured by the intelligent mobile terminal. NS simulation results from the media playback quality, the quality of user experience and communication control efficiency compared with the proposed control algorithm with the adaptive cooperative FEC based on combination of network coding and channel Coding. The results show that the proposed control algorithm has high real-time performance, high efficiency, high reliability and high user satisfaction.

Fundamental relationship between node dynamic and content cooperative transmission in mobile multimedia communications

The traditional research on mobile multimedia communications are mostly based on transmission mechanism and relationship between the nodes, lacking of the qualitative and quantitative analyses of node dynamic such as dynamic emotion on content cooperative transmission. In this paper, we firstly excavate the influence factors of dynamic emotion, and then establish the cloud-based dynamic emotion game model to process the dynamic emotion in real time from the different time granularity. Secondly, by analyzing the dynamic emotion for a given time granularity, the steady-state emotion quantization value which represents the expected cooperative willingness to other nodes can be derived. In addition, combined with the statistical characteristics of multimedia service, we analyze the transmission characteristics of multimedia service, and then derive the influence of dynamic emotion on content cooperative transmission under the influence of the transmission characteristics of multimedia service. The numerical results show that the theoretical analysis framework can accurately reflect the dynamic emotion of nodes and the performance influence of dynamic emotion on content transmission.

Advanced Technique for Improved Mobile Multimedia Communication Services

The proliferation of smartphones is associated with the development of multimedia applications. Mobile multimedia applications involve audio, data, speech, image, video processing and distribution of over mobile platform. However, compressed media packets are vulnerable to channel errors, thus making it difficult to sustain good perceived video quality performance within limited resources. In this research work, the weight length and impact of different video packets are analyzed. Based on the analysis an advanced technique to enhance mobile multimedia communication services is proposed. The technique involves cross-layer optimization framework, utilizing Network Abstraction Layer Units Length and flexibility of IP-based mobile network in exchanging network information for error protection of sensitive media packets. The simulation results carried out with compatible multiple media streams of different priority levels and Network Abstraction Layer Units Length show overall significant improvement in the received media services.

A network-assisted flow mobility architecture for optimized mobile medical multimedia transmission

A large part of mobile Health (mHealth) use-cases such as remote patient monitoring/diagnosis, teleconsultation, and guided surgical intervention requires advanced and reliable mobile communication solutions to provide efficient multimedia transmission with strict medical level Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) provision. The increasing deployment of overlapping wireless access networks enables the possibility to offer the required network resources for ubiquitous and pervasive mHealth services. To address the challenges and support the above use-cases in today’s heterogeneous network (HetNet) environments, we propose a network-assisted flow-based mobility management architecture for optimized real-time mobile medical multimedia communication. The proposed system is empirically evaluated in a Pan-European HetNet testbed with multi-access Android-based mobile devices. We observed that the proposed scheme significantly improves the objective QoE of simultaneous real-time high-resolution electrocardiography and high-definition ultrasound transmissions while also enhances traffic load balancing capabilities of wireless architectures.

Embedded Systems for Mobile Sensors

In the era of IoT, embedded systems based on mobile sensor ideas turn into increasingly compound and need understanding in various training tools such as signal processing, artificial intelligence, and multimedia communication. After a long period of computational capacity centralization, we are facing a period where the computation capacity is migrating back to the periphery of the systems and then to smart objects and sensors. Currently IoT is constituted of computationally heterogeneous devices for which the ability of executing preelaborations or complete processing is fundamental as well as the ability of doing them, keeping low power consumptions and maintaining a certain level of security. The combination of signal processing techniques for embedded systems is a principal and timely research in mobile sensors and communications. The articles contained in the present issue include both reviews and basic scientific studies focused on mobile multimedia communication using fundamental or applied signal processing methods for embedded systems and applications of IoT. This issue comprises the description of streams processing (e.g., images, video, and audio) for embedded systems involved in IoT as mobile sensors/aggregators including preprocessing for signal quality enhancement (e.g., images, noise reduction), security concerns (e.g., privacy), and evolution of communication protocols and mobile sensor network architectures.

Dynamic Channel Allocation in Mobile Multimedia Networks Using Error Back Propagation and Hopfield Neural Network (EBP-HOP)

In mobile multimedia communication systems, the limited bandwidth is an issue of serious concern. However for the better utilization of available resources in a network, channel allocation scheme plays a very important role to manage the available resources in each cell. Hence this issue should be managed to reduce the call blocking or dropping probabilities. This paper gives the new dynamic channel allocation scheme which is based on handoff calls and traffic mobility using hopfield neural network. It will improve the capacity of existing system. Hopfield method develops the new energy function that allocates channel not only for new call but also for handoff calls on the basis of traffic mobility information. Moreover, we have also examined the performance of traffic mobility with the help of error back propagation neural network model to enhance the overall Quality of Services (QoS) in terms of continuous service availability and intercell handoff calls. Our scheme decreases the call handoff dropping and blocking probability up to a better extent as compared to the other existing systems of static and dynamic channel allocation schemes.

Transportation mobility management

Today, the world has observed a remarkable growth in the use of transportation mobile communications for road safety. While a user in a vehicle moves to a new communication cell, a wireless terminal requests a handoff for new channel in the new cell. Due to that movement, some of the challenges issues are developed such as, the increase in traffic volumes and demand for high speed transportation mobile communications call for fast, seamless and high performance handoff in mobile communications network. When a wireless user in a vehicle moves from one base station cell to another, handoff protocols reroute the existing active connections in the new transportation cell. The future challenges in next generation high speed transportation mobile networks are to minimize the packet loss and to provide efficient use of the network resources while maintaining quality of service assurances. Therefore, the performance of efficient management and a successful handoff operation in transportation mobile networks become an important issue for road safety traffic. This work shows analytical handoff management for transportation users in a high speed mobile communications network. We demonstrate the performance of handoffs with mobility consideration using several metrics including the alteration of states prior to reaching a transportation mobility cell boundary, the speed of transportation mobile terminal, and the distance between a transportation mobile terminal and a transportation cell boundary. We illustrate the performance evaluation for the factor of transportation mobility with taking into account the high speed status of a mobile vehicle user. Numerical results of the transportation performance analysis and the probability of requiring a handoff are demonstrated using Maple. Figure 1 shows a shaped region of a cellular network and the cellular handoff model with mobility. In this abstract, we modeled the cellular handoff for multimedia users with taking the high speed mobility into account in wireless mobile networks. The performance results in terms of state probabilities and the probability that a mobile terminal reached a cell boundary were investigated. The mobilized analysis involved with number of issues such as the alternation of states before a mobile unit reached a cell boundary, the distance between the mobile terminal and a cell boundary and the speed of the vehicle. Based on the assumption of the alternation of states, there were four situations for a vehicle to reach a cell boundary. Performance results were accurately analyzed based on these four situations. It was clearly showing that for a vehicle that experienced the change of states, the outcome chance of reaching a cell boundary was proportional to the distance in between the mobile terminal and a cell boundary and inversely propositional to the speed of the vehicle.
