An epidemiological survey of school children was performed in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. Seven hundred and fifteen school children aged 4–18 years were examined in a mobile dental unit during 1963 and 1964. The data were compared with statistics for school children in the Province of Ontario, Canada, showing a lower prevalence of tooth decay and a higher prevalence of periodontal disease in the Ghanaian children.
