Furthermore, it has not proved feasible to have physicians accompany the unit. After 26 months of experience directly supervised by a physician, the Columbus unit was incorporated into the municipal fire rescue squad system. Physician attendance on the vehicle was terminated. Rescue squad personnel were trained in diagnosis and therapy of cardiovascular emergencies, including administration of certain drugs.
