Synthesis and characterization of the Cu(II)-quinoxaline, 3,3-thiodipropionate mixed ligand coordination polymer for the removal of methylene blue from aqueous solution

Herein, we report the removal of methylene blue (MB) dye from water by Cu(II)-quinoxaline, 3,3-thiodipropionate mixed ligand coordination polymer synthesized as [Cu2(TDPH)4(QNX)]·DMF. Characterization of the synthesized material was carried out by elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), BET surface area analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and UV–visible spectroscopy. ν(C = O) and ν(C–O) absorption bands were detected at 1735 and 1093 cm−1, respectively, while ν(C = N) was observed at 1608 cm−1 in the synthesized compound. The synthesized material was used as adsorbent for the removal of MB dye from aqueous solution using batch adsorption technique. The maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 7.9745 mg/g, while the maximum decolorization efficiency for the adsorbent was observed to be 99.04%. Adsorption data from the study fitted the Langmuir isotherm with an R 2 value of 0.9815, while the adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model with an R 2 value of 0.9953. The results obtained from the study, therefore showed that the synthesized materials could be used as adsorbents in wastewater treatment.

Concentration mediated structural modulation in a family of mixed-ligand coordination polymers: Structure, sorption and luminescence study

A series of mixed-ligands Zn(II) coordination polymers (CPs) have contracted by varying the relative ratio of two ligands. A linear N,N′-donor ligand, trans 4,4′-azobispyridine (azbpy) and a sodium salt of tri carboxylic acid, 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate (Na3btc) have been used in different ratio, along with Zn(II) salt to synthesize three different mixed ligands multifunctional hydroxy bridged CPs, namely {[Zn2(μ2-OH)(azbpy)(btc)(H2O)]. (H2O)(MeOH)}n (1), {[Zn2(μ3-OH)(azbpy)1.5(btc)(H2O)].(azbpy)0.5(H2O)4}n (2), and {[Zn2.5(azbpy)(Hbtc)2(μ2-OH)(H2O)3].(H2O)3.5(MeOH)}n (3). All these CPs 1, 2 and 3 have been characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD), elemental analysis, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric (TG) analysis, UV–visible spectroscopy and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). The desolvated frameworks of 1 and 2 adsorb CO2 better, over N2, whereas, complex 3 shows reverse phenomenon. Solid state luminescence studies of these CPs display attentive fluorescence emission at room temperature. Change in those properties has been observed, which has been discussed here with structural correlation.

Synthesis, Structure, and Heterogeneous Catalysis of a Series of Structurally Diverse Coordination Polymers Based on 5-Nitroisophthalate

Four new coordination polymers have been synthesized based on a mixed-ligand strategy, viz., [Cu(4-ABPT)(HNIPA)2H2O]·H2O, SSICG-1; [Cu2(4-ABPT)2(HNIPA)4]·H2O, SSICG-2; [Ni(4-ABPT)(NIPA)H2O], SSICG-3; and [Zn2(ATRZ)2(NIPA)], SSICG-4 (4-ABPT = 3,5-di(pyridine-4-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-amine, H2NIPA = 5-nitroisophthalic acid, and ATRZ = 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole, SSICG stands for the Solid State and Inorganic Chemistry Group at IIT Patna). The copper compounds are one-dimensional, whereas the nickel and zinc compounds are two-dimensional layer compounds. SSICG-3 possesses 4,4-net topology with a Schläfli symbol 44.62, whereas SSICG-4 exhibits a 3,3-net (fes) topology with a Schläfli symbol 4.82. SSICG-1 and SSICG-3 have active metal sites due to the presence of replaceable coordinated water molecules and exhibits efficient catalytic activity for one-pot CO2 cycloadditions. The conversions of SSICG-1 and SSICG-3 for CO2 cycloaddition are 87 and 95% (turnover numbers (TON) of 174 and 190), respectively. The kinetic studies, substrate scope, recyclability, catalyst amount, and temperature dependence studies of the CO2 cycloaddition reaction are discussed. These structurally diverse coordination polymers could contribute to broadening the scope of mixed-ligand coordination polymers for their applications in heterogeneous catalysis.

Two Mixed-Ligand Cu(II) Polymers: Treatment Activity on Acute Cerebral Infarction Combined with Alteplase

With the reaction between Cu(NO3)2·3H2O and 4-(2 ′ ,3 ′ -dicarboxylphenoxy) benzoic acid (H3L), a semirigid trichromatic acid ligand, in the presence of N-donor co-ligand 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl) ethylene (bpe), two novel mixed-ligand coordination polymers (CPs), i.e., [Cu(H2L)2(bpe)(H2O)2]bpe·(H2O)4 (1) and [Cu3(L)2(bpe)3(H2O)4]·(H2O)6 (2), have been created under different solvent systems. Furthermore, the biological activity of compounds was evaluated, and the related mechanism was explored as well. Firstly, the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was conducted to measure the content of coagulation factors in the serum after compound treatment. In addition to this, the real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay was conducted, and the inflammatory response in the brain was also determined.

Treatment activity of a mixed-ligand coordination polymer on gastric carcinoma

Reaction of 4,4′,4″-nitrilotribenzoic acid (H3L), a C3-symmetric ligand, with the divalent Co(II) salt Co(NO3)2·6H2O in the present of the N-donor ligand 1,2-di(4-pyridyl)ethylene (DPE) affords a new mixed-ligand coordination polymer with the chemical formula of [Co3(TNB)(DPE)2]·2H2O·DMF (1). In this study, CCK-8 assay was used to determine the effect of novel compound on proliferation of gastric cancer cells. The VEGF signaling pathway in gastric cancer cells was determined through employing real-time PCR after treatment of the above complex. Further, molecular docking simulation confirmed that the biological activity was coming from the carboxyl groups through the hydrogen bonding interactions with the receptor protein, the pyridine group only bonded with the Co ion for the formation of the Co complex.

Lanthanide ternary mixed-ligand coordination polymers as fluorescent sensors for the sensitive and selective detection of chlorogenic acid

A series of lanthanide coordination polymers constructed from ternary mixed ligands were synthesized. The Eu-CP has fluorescence sensing properties for chlorogenic acid. The film loaded with Eu-CP can be used for visual fluorescence detection.

From a Well-Defined Organozinc Precursor to Diverse Luminescent Coordination Polymers Based on Zn(II)-Quinolinate Building Units Interconnected by Mixed Ligand Systems.

Introduction of photoactive building blocks into mixed-ligand coordination polymers appears to be a promising way to produce new advanced luminescent materials. However, rational design and self-assembly of the multi-component supramolecular systems is challenging from both a conceptual and synthetic perspective. Here, we report exploratory studies that investigate the potential of [Zn(q)2]2[tBuZn(OH)]2 complex (q = deprotonated 8-hydroxyquinoline) as an organozinc precursor as well as a mixed-ligand synthetic strategy for the preparation of new luminescent coordination polymers (CPs). As a result we present three new 2D mixed-ligand Zn(II)-quinolinate coordination polymers which are based on various zinc quinolinate secondary building units interconnected by two different organic linker types, i.e., deprotonated 4,4′-oxybisbenzoic acid (H2obc) as a flexible dicarboxylate linker and/or selected bipyridines (bipy). Remarkably, using the title organozinc precursors in a combination with H2obc and 4,4′-bipyridine, a novel molecular zinc quinolinate building unit, [Zn4(q)6(bipy)2(obc)2], was obtained which self-assembled into a chain-type hydrogen-bonded network. The application of the organometallic precursor allowed for its direct reaction with the selected ligands at ambient temperature, avoiding the use of both solvothermal conditions and additional base reagents. In turn, the reaction involving Zn(NO3)2, as a classical inorganic precursor, in a combination with H2obc and bipy led to a novel 1D coordination polymer [Zn2(q)2(NO3)2(bipy)]. While the presence of H2obc was essential for the formation of this coordination polymer, this ditopic linker was not incorporated into the isolated product, which indicates its templating behavior. The reported compounds were characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis as well as UV-Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy.
