Today, Uzbekistan has undergone a major agricultural reform, and the agrarian sector is rapidly developing. Creation of the legal basis for property relations in the agrarian sphere has become a guarantee of this process. The resulting extensive social change has made huge changes in the national linguistic mind. Social life, social thinking, and language integrity have shaped important changes in the linguistic classification of the existence. Especially in the field of agrarian reforms, new forms of agrarian relations require studying agrarian terminology as a special system, and the development of international agrarian relations and relationships reqiure special attention to the linguistic expressions, which are the main factors in this.

The Effect of a Technology-Related Invention Education Program, Story-telling, on Elementary School Students’ Caring Minds

이 연구는 스토리텔링을 활용한 적정기술 관련 발명교육 프로그램을 개발, 적용하고 초등학생의 배려심에 미치는 효과를 밝히기 위해 수행되었다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해서 적정기술 관련 스토리텔링을 바탕으로 발명교육프로그램을 개발하였으며, Y초등학교 창의적 체험활동시간의 동아리활동 중 5, 6학년 과학발명동아리 학생 26명에게 적용하였다. 초등학생의 배려심에 영향을 미친 효과를 확인하기 위해서 유의 수준 p<.05 수준에서 대응표본 t-검정을 실시하였다. 스토리텔링을 활용한 적정기술 관련 발명교육 프로그램을 적용한 초등학생의 배려심은 사전 사후 유의미한 차이(t=-3.495, p<.01)를 확인할 수 있었으며, 배려심의 하위 요인별로는 양보심 요인(t=-8.841, p<.001)과 염려 요인(t=-2.752, p<.05)에서 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 즉, 스토리텔링을 활용한 적정기술 관련 발명교육 프로그램은 초등학생의 배려심을 함양하는데 효과가 있으며, 배려심의 하위 요인 중 양보심과 염려 요인에 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 향후 발명교육을 통해 인성적인 측면에 지속적인 관심을 가지고 배려심 향상을 위한 체계적인 프로그램 개발 및 운영이 요구된다.The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of a technology-related invention education program storytelling on teachers’ of elementary school students. To accomplish this purpose, an \appropriate technology related invention education program, using storytelling, was developed, and was applied to the a group of 26 fifth and sixth grade students who participated in the innovative activities of elementary school students at Y elementary school. Matching samples t-test was applied to verify the changes of caring mind. A change in the overall mind of caring was showed a significant difference (t=-3.495, p<.01). In particular, positive changes in the aspects of yielding spirit factor (t=-8.841, p<.001) and anxious factor (t=-2.752, p<.05) were highlighted. Based on the results of this study, a more sustainable and systematic program should be developed through continuous attention to the soundness of the education.

THE PROBLEM OF METHODOLOGY FOR HISTORICAL- PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH

The problem of the methodology for historical-psychological research is examined through the prism of the national philosophical and psychological science. The starting point of the methodology is the works of V. Romenets, Yu. Rozhdestvensky, V. Gorsky and others. Original texts contain a significant informational layer that must be skillfully highlighted and interpreted, taking into account their authors’ life and professional paths, the dynamics of the authors’ experience throughout life and the influence of the culturally-historical era on their psychological achievements. The methods for historical and psychological research analysis are clarified: comparative-descriptive; historical and documentary; ontologically oriented ones and the peculiarities of their applications are disclosed. V. Gorsky investigates the features of historical-philosophical (psychological) analysis of an author’s text through the prism of contextual, outside of contextual and situational analyses. The context can remove multiple meaning of a word, indicating its specific meaning, built-in by the text author. At the same time, a researcher, by examining a text, must bear in mind changes appeared in time concerning the meanings of used terms and not transfer the modern understanding of used concepts at analyses of texts belonging to the past centuries. It is still necessary to find out subtexts, remained unrevealed due to certain reasons. A researcher should understand a studied scientist’s style, which identifies the scientist and, at the same time, manifests specific historical conditions and shows the scientist’s way of mastering the culture; and these efforts contribute to adequate knowledge of the examined text, penetration into its spiritual core. The article notes that the situational analysis has its own characteristics, which consist in a historian's understanding of psychology of all circumstances that shaped an examined scientist’s worldview and the peculiarities of the audience to which the scientist addresses his/her texts. When carrying out a situational analysis, a historian-psychologist must take into account the social-economic, political conditions influencing formation of an author’s opinion expressed in the examined text and be aware of the relation of this opinion with the contests between psychological ideological directions. The attention is focused on the mistakes that researchers can make by analyzing the text.

Spatializing gentrification in situ: A critical cartography of resident perceptions of neighbourhood change in Vallcarca, Barcelona

In this paper, we link the tools of critical cartography and cognitive mapping with more traditional gentrification studies in order to capture in situ the shifts associated with nascent processes of change in bodies, environment, and minds in Vallcarca, a liminal gentrifying neighbourhood of Barcelona, Spain. We ask: How do the simultaneous and conflicting ways that people shape, perceive, and respond to gentrification processes affect how space and place are politicized within global urbanization processes? We build our maps through an analysis based primarily on listening to a diverse range of residents and constructing with them a combined cartography of the perceived type, degree, and location of changes in the neighbourhood. The results reveal an important dual role for greening and tourism, a differential geography of perceived gentrification risk across different social groups, and a limited reach in terms of who perceives gentrification. These results have important implications for how space and place are politicized and de-politicized and offer guidance useful to grassroots efforts to combat gentrification and displacement.

Formation of the language personality in the era of globalization

The article analyzes the ways and consequences of the affect the globalization processes have, on the modern Ukrainian language; innovations of the late nineteenth century vocabulary, that influenced changes of lingual mind, his or her mentality and the formation of modern language personality, which are emerging in society and developing on the ground of self-performance and secured social relationships and interactions ability, and which is a condition and a product of culture, has been thought. All peculiarities of that society, in which they are (i.e. economic and social structure, peculiarities of daily life, social system of intelligent qualities and character features, that are appraised by society and gained in the process of education and upbringing) reflect in the specifics of individuals’ thinking.In the lingual practice of each new generation some specific language peculiarities appear and they are different from the speaking of its predecessors. Due to this the important tendency of the development of national vocabulary begin to be the fashion of separate lexical units, which influence the emergence of the modern lingual personality.Fashionable words are the specific layer of lexis which have words of foreign origin, stylistically confined ones which differ with strange sounds and semantics, high constancy of using them, i.e. which are in the focus of spearheaded lingual attention of modern human.The work given characterizes the concept of “globalism” as a result of adaptation of lingual elements at the phonetical, grammatical and graphical levels. The abilities of the globalization process on how to enrich language, since the flaw of information transmitted has enlarged and qualitatively enriched itself, the information, and on how to shake the language norm, destabilize lingual life, have been analyzed.The conclusions have been made about that is necessarily to define the strategy of the further development of the Ukrainian lexical found in the modern informative environment, necessarily to control the stage of entering of the Ukrainian nation into the globalized world, and that language processes of the modern period should be kept under control by specialists.

Clinical research on individualized hemodialysis preventing unconventional hypotension in diabetic nephropathy patient.

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of individualized hemodialysis for unconventional hypotension in diabetic nephropathy patients. A total of 60 patients were selected and randomly divided into study group and control group. The control group used the standard dialysis model, while the study group used the individualized hemodialysis scheme, in which the dialysis was performed using an individualized dialysis machine temperature control, pattern of natrium, and pattern of step ultrafiltration in combination with dialysate-containing glucose. The total occurrence rate of hypotension, dry weight standard-reaching rate, and blood quality during and after dialysis in the study group were superior to those in the control group (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the symptom scores in the study group (dizziness score, chest distress score, sweating score, muscle spasm score, gastrointestinal symptom score, and temporary mind change score) were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The serum sodium, potassium, and chloride concentration in these two groups after dialysis was not statistically different (P > 0.05). The combined application of low temperature, pattern of natrium, pattern of step ultrafiltration, and dialysate-containing glucose individualization is safe and effective for preventing and controlling the occurrence of intradialytic hypotension (IDH), improve symptoms, and improve the dry weight standard-reaching rate.

Peranan Aparatur Desa Dalam Pencegahan Kenakalan Remaja

Adolescence is a time of experiencing many changes in body, spirit, and mind. At this time, adolescents experience a lot of emotional turmoil and problems which are generally caused by social conflicts. In this study, the researcher used a descriptive qualitative approach, and the data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The purpose of this study was to determine the efforts of village officials and the obstacles in preventing juvenile delinquency at a village in the Aceh province. The form of delinquency that is often carried out by adolescents in the village namely lying, leaving without saying to their parents and having no clear purpose as well as causing negative actions, skipping school (leaving school/not attending school without the awareness of the school), promiscuity/immoral acts (watching pornographic films), theft (the activity of taking other people's belongings), illegal racing/sounding the sound of a bicycle motor big. The causes of adolescent delinquency in this village include; (1) internal factors- an identity crisis and weak self-control, and (2) external factors - family, education, community, religion, and technology.

William King’s Influence on Locke’s Second Edition Change of Mind about Human Action and Freedom

ABSTRACTLocke’s influential discussion of agency in the chapter ‘Of Power’ in the Essay Concerning Human Understanding underwent important changes between the first and second edition. He reconsidered many of his central claims about the mind’s deliberation about actions. Locke’s position in the two editions is not only different but, as he himself points out, sometimes incompatible. This has suggested to some commentators that his change of mind was at least partly due to an external influence. Locke himself gestures towards this conclusion in the new ‘Epistle’ in the second edition Essay. One view is that William Molyneux was a notable influence, while another position is that Ralph Cudworth’s work on free will, either directly or indirectly through the influence of his daughter Damaris Masham, was an important influence. The position I develop in this paper is that the strongest candidate for an important external influence on Locke’s second edition revision is Molyneux’s close associate and friend, Irish philosopher and Archbishop of Dublin, William King. I argue that King’s criticism is a plausible influence on Locke’s reconceptualization of will and desire. Finally, and perhaps most significantly, King’s criticism appears to have been instrumental in Locke’s new emphasis on the agent’s capacity to determine what to value.

Examining Hate Speech as an Abiding Threat to Justice: The Case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in India

It needs to be very clearly emphasized that discrimination on the basis of caste is an age-old phenomenon; indeed so predictable a phenomenon that it often occurs implicitly. If the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes have continued to suffer under the undue burden of a stigmatized identity and abiding discrimination in present-day India despite the ponderous safety net of statutory safeguards, the onus must lie with a deliberate form of marginalization or disparagement that aims to secure the exclusion of individuals on the basis of their membership of a particular group—through hate speech. This prejudice-driven crime has gone on to determine the way the dominant social class has been and continues, consciously and unconsciously, aiding and abetting the maintenance of status quo through their private utterances. This practice of unconscious and unpunished speech occurring casually in unsuspecting familial settings perhaps stands out in its greatest potential to damage, disrupt, cause a permanent mind change and ingrain and invigorate social apartheid.

ISLAM DAN PANCASILA DALAM PEMIKIRAN MOHAMMAD NATSIR

This research was conducted to see how Mohammad Natsir thought about the relationship between Islam and Pancasila. This study also explains the causes of Natsir's change of mind which initially supported Pancasila as part of Islam and later turned into an opponent of Pancasila in Konstituante on 11 November to 6 December 1957. The methodology used was a qualitative method by describing the results of the analysis carried out. The research data is obtained through a review of documents and scientific literature. The results of the study show that Mohammad Natsir's change of mind regarding the relationship between Islam and Pancasila was influenced by Mohammad Natsir's political socialization which began from Natsir's view of Islam influenced by the childhood environment (conditional and socio-cultural) in Minangkabau; direct influence from national figures such as Ahmad Hassan, H. Agus Salim, Sheikh Ahmad Syurkati and H. O Tjokroaminoto; the indirect influence of international figures throughout reading book such as Hassan Al-Banna, Amir Syakib Arselan, Rashid Ridha and Muhammad Abduh; the influence of Natsir's organization and political parties, namely Jong Islamieten Bond (JIB), Islamic Unity (Persis), and Masyumi political parties; and the influence of the political conditions at that time which made Natsir's views change, which initially accepted Pancasila and then became an opponent of the Pancasila. This research shown there are two patterns of Natsir's relationship with Pancasila, namely (1) Natsir accepted Pancasila and, (2) Natsir opposed Pancasila.

Decoding Changes of Mind in Voluntary Action-Dynamics of Intentional Choice Representations.

Voluntary actions rely on appropriate flexibility of intentions. Usually, we should pursue our goals, but sometimes we should change goals if they become too costly to achieve. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging, we investigated the neural dynamics underlying the capacity to change one's mind based on new information after action onset. Multivariate pattern analyses revealed that in visual areas, neural representations of intentional choice between 2 visual stimuli were unchanged by additional decision-relevant information. However, in fronto-parietal cortex, representations changed dynamically as decisions evolved. Precuneus, angular gyrus, and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex encoded new externally cued rewards/costs that guided subsequent changes of mind. Activity in medial frontal cortex predicted changes of mind when participants detached from externally cued evidence, suggesting a role in endogenous decision updates. Finally, trials with changes of mind were associated with an increase in functional connectivity between fronto-parietal areas, allowing for integration of various endogenous and exogenous decision components to generate a distributed consensus about whether to pursue or abandon an initial intention. In conclusion, local and global dynamics of choice representations in fronto-parietal cortex allow agents to maintain the balance between adapting to changing environments versus pursuing internal goals.

The wellbeing benefits of sea swimming. Is it time to revisit the sea cure?

ABSTRACT Sea and open water swimming is rapidly growing in popularity and many participants are extolling the benefits to their mental and physical health. Despite the wealth of anecdotal reports, little empirical research has been undertaken exploring the impact of this activity. To gain access and understanding of the embodied, emplaced and temporal experience of swimming I developed a novel mobile method. I carried out ‘swim-along’ interviews, and follow up land-based interviews, with six regular sea swimmers. Using a lifeworld phenomenological analysis based on the ideas of Merleau-Ponty, I identified three significant dimensions that reflected the experience for the swimmers interviewed. They found sea swimming transformative, causing changes in mind, body and identity; connecting, enabling a sense of belonging to nature, place and others; and finally re-orientating, through the disruption to the sense of time, space and body swimmers can find alternative and expanded perspectives about themselves and their world. All these effects positively impact on wellbeing and indicate that sea swimming offers benefits that go far beyond just a way of improving fitness.

Nudging physical activity in offices

Purpose This paper aims to investigate whether and why nudging interventions in an office environment are effective to stimulate stair use of employees. Design/methodology/approach This paper is based on a pre-test/post-test case study design at the headquarters of a Dutch online retailer. Observations were conducted to test the impact of two nudge interventions, being footprints and posters, on employees’ stair use in two consecutive pre-test/post-test weeks. An online survey questionnaire was used to assess employees’ overall experience with the nudging interventions after the fifth and again neutral week. Findings A total of 14,357 observations were recorded during five weeks. This research shows that footprints as nudging intervention significantly increase stair use of employees, and after removal, significantly decrease stair use again. Moreover, footprints were more effective than posters, of which the latter did not impact stair use significantly. Results from the survey questionnaire, completed by 46.2 per cent of the employees, showed that, in terms of degree of perception, footprints (91.4 per cent) were more noticeable than posters (46.3 per cent). Originality/value This paper contributes to the non-conclusive research regarding the effectiveness of nudging interventions on stair use in office environments. It clearly shows that perceptibility in combination with a positive attitude towards the nudge leads to a higher degree of initial behavioural change, yet not to a change of mind.

Change of style, change of mind: lawyers’ writing manners

AbstractThis paper explores the relationship between style and epistemology as regards the discipline of law – especially in the Romanistic tradition – and, more specifically, its resistance to interdisciplinarity. Drawing on literary theory and discourse analysis literature, the first part of this paper examines the notion of ‘style’ in relation to academic disciplines. It argues that the variety of writing styles reflects the various epistemologies underlying the different disciplinary discourses and makes interdisciplinarity difficult to implement in general. The second part of this study borrows Roland Barthes's distinction between ‘readerly’ and ‘writerly’ texts in order to show that lawyers’ writing manners hinder the ability of law to connect with other disciplines. Against the background of the two sections, this contribution will finally include a discussion on what could be done to enhance law(yers)’s capability for interdisciplinary thinking, concluding that style might be not so insignificant a place to start with.

The problem of connection of observer’s mind with quantum-mechanical description of physical reality

Introduction: the study considers the problem of observer’s status during specific quantum-mechanical experiments, in which the empirical result directly depends on the participation of the experimenter's mind. Here the problem arises of the connection between the mind of the observer and the quantum-mechanical description of physical reality. The paper pays attention to modern trends in physics and philosophy devoted to the study of this phenomenon. Some aspects of the philosophical interpretation of the mind as a quantum mechanism are presented.Materials and Methods: the research materials demonstrate an overview of several common quantum-philosophical theories. Attempts have been made to search for the connection of quantum phenomena with the mechanisms of the functioning of human mind. The experimental background of quantum physics is demonstrated, providing material for analyzing the possibility of applying modern quantum theory to the question of identifying the relationship of the quantum approach and describing the problem of the influence of the observer’s mind on the result of a physical experiment.Results: the concept of quantum mechanics, taking into account the latest achievements and results of physics, philosophy and psychology, allows us to consider the mind of the observer as an integral part of the mechanism responsible for the formation of the surrounding physical reality. The anthropic principle of participation considered in the work gives the observer's mind a special role allowing to form a quantum-mechanical description of physical reality.Discussion and conclusions: it is shown that the mind of the observer plays an important role in quantum theory. Moreover, mind as a psychic phenomenon may be in fact identical with the quantum-mechanical concept of choosing an alternative. Given the fact that the brain's thought processes influence the measurement results, it can be assumed that mind changes quantum probabilities. This assumption allows us to take a different look at the concept of reality itself.

Public knowledge, contaminant concerns, and support for recycled Water in the United States

Water recycling is one potential solution to meeting the growing global demand for water in an age of dwindling freshwater supplies. However, public opposition has played a key role historically in blunting the broad implementation of water recycling technologies across the United States. Addressing public concerns and overcoming this opposition is critical to the political viability of water recycling programs as a response to growing water insecurity. This analysis builds on existing research on Americans’ attitudes toward water recycling in three ways. First, it explores public understanding of basic elements of water recycling and identifies important gaps in public knowledge. Second, it examines the factors that most concern Americans about water recycling. Finally, it investigates how knowledge, specific concerns, and a range of other factors, including Americans’ environmental priorities, local context, partisan leanings, and demographic characteristics, combine to influence attitudes toward recycled water. The results identify several promising targets for future educational outreach efforts to build public support for water recycling projects. Policy-relevant knowledge is the single most important predictor of support for water recycling. Yet, there is a stark knowledge gap between a highly informed few and an unaware majority. Bridging this gap could greatly increase support for water recycling. Concerns about sewage contamination were most corrosive to support for water recycling, making them a prime target for further outreach. Finally, our results suggest that future educational campaigns may seek to decouple water scarcity and climate change in the public mind to avoid exacerbating existing cleavages.

A Nova Scotia Scheme and the Imperial Politics of Ulster Emigration

AbstractEarly in 1761, a land promoter of Ulster origin named Alexander McNutt brought before the British Board of Trade a proposal to settle several thousand Ulster Scots in Nova Scotia. The board enthusiastically approved, but when McNutt returned the following year with promising news, the board forbade him from continuing the scheme, citing fears of losing Protestants in Ireland. This episode has generally been explained as evidence of the British government's ambivalence about Ulster emigration. However, rather than expressing merely a tension between two equally desirable but conflicting goals—peopling the American colonies with Irish Protestants and protecting the Ascendancy by preventing their emigration—the board's change of mind reflected the changing political environment. The board that approved McNutt's scheme strongly favored settling Nova Scotia quickly; the board that shut it down a year later included new members who viewed settling Nova Scotia as a waste of precious funds. The case of Alexander McNutt demonstrates the profound ramifications of party politics for Ulster migration during the imperial crisis of the 1760s and 1770s. It further affirms that studies of Ulster migration must be imperial in scope.

Scholar-Administrators as Change Agents

Flexibility and readiness to change are not necessarily valued or recognized traits in higher education. Yet higher education is in a period of dramatic change, because of rapid change in scholarship and society. With this change in mind, I reflect here on the role and effect of scholar-administrators as agents of change.

A Change of Mind: Applying Social and Behavioral Research Methods to the Assessment of the Effectiveness of Ocean Literacy Initiatives

Assessment of environmental literacy and ocean literacy focus on increasing knowledge and awareness. The goal of ocean literacy initiatives is ultimately to enable behaviour change (whereby citizens take direct and sustainable action) to achieve sustainable solutions to marine environment issues. The application of social and behavioural research methods provides powerful tools for assessing if ocean literacy initiatives are effective at increasing participant’s knowledge and awareness of an issue, its causes and consequences and behaviours or actions required to enable sustainable solutions. Social and behavioural research methods also provide a means of assessing changes in attitude, a key predictor of behaviour change, and ultimately a means of assessing changes in a participants intended and reported behaviours. We present a framework to integrate social and behavioural research methods within assessment of the effectiveness of ocean literacy initiatives. The before and after assessment we undertake develops existing environmental literacy and ocean literacy assessment approaches by integrating social and behavioural research methods to assess key predictors of behaviour change. We structured the assessment methodology within a Theory of Change logic model, to provide a protocol for systematic evaluation of ocean literacy initiatives and tools. Specifically those aimed at promoting specific behaviour change objectives for pre-identified actors. Assessment of educational training courses for professionals entering the shipping industry (targeting behaviours to reduce the spread of invasive species), and educational workshops for school students (aged 11-15 and 16-18), on problems related to marine litter and microplastics and potential solutions were assessed using the framework. Through before and after surveys, an increase in awareness, knowledge and an increase in attitudes supporting action to reduce impacts on the marine environment were reported by participants, after interaction with sets of tools developed by the Horizon 2020 Ocean Literacy project ResponSEAble. Results supported the importance of targeting specific audiences with tailored ocean literacy tools and the importance of informing actors of issues and solutions within the context of wider ocean literacy principles.

Towards new food emulsions: designing the interface and beyond

Emulsions are ubiquitous in foods, and decades of research work have led to advanced, although often empirical, control over the formulation and functionality of those systems. However, the conventional strategies to make food emulsions have to be revisited, due to the trends in the food sector area that have emerged in recent years. This includes a strong focus on naturalness, health and sustainability, which promotes the use of plant-derived ingredients, ideally obtained from mild processing, and thus, by essence, far from pure and well-characterized. Adapting to this change of mind while ensuring the physicochemical stability of emulsions is a challenge, and requires that researchers invest effort into deep characterization of the emulsions’ microstructure and dynamics, for which tools to characterize multiple scales are, more than ever, an essential need.
