Peculiarities of training Teams of Higher Military Educational Institutions in Military pentathlon for Competitions of various ranks in the conditions of a limited period of training

Today, it has become traditional in Ukraine to hold competitions of various ranks in military applied sports, namely: military sports all-around, officer triathlon, polyathlon, hand-to-hand combat, official triathlon among representatives of the institutions of the security and defense sector of Ukraine. The study was carried out in accordance with the plan of research and development work of the department of special physical and combat training of the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine (initiative scientific project «Triathlon Service, 2021-2024»). In the process of research and analytical work, members of the research group used the following research methods: idealization, formalization, axiomatic, historical and logical, descent from concrete. As a result of the research, the members of the research group determined the specifics of the formation of the personnel reserve and the training of the national team of the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine in official triathlon for competitions of various ranks (in the conditions of a limited period of preparation). It is necessary to emphasize that the components of the selection work defined by us in the direction of staffing national teams from service-applied all-around events are characteristic of other higher military educational institutions (HMEI). Prospects for further research in the chosen direction of scientific intelligence include the development of organizational and pedagogical conditions for the formation of the readiness of male and female cadets of HMEI. who specialize in official triathlon for competitions of higher ranks (taking into account the peculiarities of the military situation).

STRUCTURAL-FUNCTIONAL MODEL OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE FORMATION OF FUTURE MILITARY INTELLIGENCE OFFICERS IN THE CONDITIONS OF THE INFORMATION AND EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT OF HMEI

The article updates the problem of the formation of professional competence of future military intelligence officers in the information and educational environment of a higher military educational institution, substantiates the theoretical foundations of professional training of future officers. The need to protect the territorial integrity of our state was analyzed, which determined the importance of the challenges posed to the transformation of military education into the professional training of Ukrainian officers. It is noted that one of the directions of the development of an effective system of military education, with the aim of gaining full membership of Ukraine in NATO, is the modernization of the officer training system, strengthening the integrity of the professional training of military specialists. It has been observed that military-professional education in accordance with the principles of the military doctrine of the state, target instructions of military policy and science, state educational standards, within which the professional training of future military intelligence officers is carried out, is based on the educational-professional program, the modern model of training competent specialists taking into account the methods preparation of NATO member countries. It has been found that the social order of society to ensure the interests of national security and defense of the state for the training of military specialists in higher military educational institutions, in accordance with modern requirements, determines the important problem of forming the professional competence of future military intelligence officers and the development of a structural and functional model of such a process in conditions of the informational and educational environment. It was found that modeling allows to analyze the real content, establish goals, highlight the main components of the structure, essential features, relationships, graphically display the functional specificity and determine the formation of professional competence of future military intelligence officers. A structural-functional model for the formation of professional competence of future military intelligence officers in the information and educational environment of higher military educational institutions has been developed, which contains blocks: conceptual-target (social order, goal, task, conceptual and methodological approaches, principles, functions), procedural- technological (informational and educational environment at higher military educational institutions, organizational and pedagogical conditions, stages, components, methods, forms, means, technologies, educational disciplines), effective (criteria, level indicators, result).

FOSTERING DIGITAL TRANSFORMATIONS IN MILITARY ENGINEERING EDUCATION: INTRODUCTION OF A TECHNOLOGY-ENHANCED LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Digital tools have become integral to training military engineers, and the introduction of a technology-enhanced learning environment may improve the educational process at higher military educational institutions. This study explores the impact of digital transformations in military engineering education through a technology-enhanced learning environment. To answer the research questions, mixed methodology was used, which involved integration and data triangulation matrices. The survey included 17 experts who possess the competences to evaluate the integration of technology into the learning environment. The results showed that a positive technology-enhanced learning environment is represented through ICT-supported learning, e-learning, blended learning, and virtual learning environments. The researchers distinguished groups of digital tools used at higher military educational institutions (communication tools, content creation tools, Learning Management Systems, collaboration tools, assessment tools, simulation and modelling, and adaptive learning tools). The impact of digital tools applied for the formation of professional competence among future military engineers was evaluated. Then, the algorithm for creating and developing a positive technology-enhanced learning environment was explained as the set of systematic measures used to design and implement a learning environment that integrates technology. The measures to be taken to foster digital technologies while training future military engineers were described during the study. The outcomes can be used to improve the existing system of military engineering education at the Ukrainian military institutions and to maximize the professional training at the active military units. The level of preparedness of military personnel for hand-to-hand combat

Abstract. In modern conditions, the military profession does not exclude activities related to the forcible detention of a criminal or aggressor. A serviceman who is proficient in hand-to-hand combat often achieves superiority over a physically stronger enemy who outnumbers him. In this case, the defenders use motor actions that, if properly directed and applied by internal and external forces, provide either a gain in strength or a gain in time. Naturally, in the process of special physical training (SPT) the issue of effective training of hand-to-hand combat techniques plays an important role in achieving a positive result in the performance of the task.
 The existing practice of special physical training in higher military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine shows that today, in the process of cadets' SPT, the rich material accumulated by specialists in the theory and methods of physical education and sports training is not yet fully used.
 The introduction of the latest technologies based on the use of hand-to-hand combat requires specialists to search for and apply innovative teaching methods and technologies, identify the most effective areas of the educational process that contribute to the achievement of a high professional level of students.

Gendered experiences in professional military education: Implications for diversity, equity, and inclusion

AbstractThis multi‐year, cross‐sectional qualitative study investigates gendered experiences of students and faculty at one master's degree‐granting military education institution in the United States. Findings from a grounded theory exploration into institutional climate using focus groups and classroom observations include themes of underrepresentation, tokenization, and dismissal during class conversations, and mischaracterization of diversity of thought. The studied institution responded to these findings by adopting a new gender‐blind class assignment process for students. The authors examined the resultant changes in the learning environment with regards to gender representation in classrooms that had zero, one, two, or three women. A next round of findings reflects students' conformance to gender norms, the prevalence of gatekeeping in class discussion, and the creation of affinity groups as a coping mechanism for underrepresented students. Findings also indicate the burden of intersectional representation falls disproportionately on women students; 73% of women students reflected two or more underrepresented‐group identities compared to just 7% of men students. Encompassing 114 h of classroom observations and 47 interviews with faculty and students, this research represents a rigorous and unprecedented cross‐sectional empirical inquiry into gendered experiences of a master's degree‐granting professional learning environment and has implications for scholars and practitioners working in male‐dominated organizations.

THE ROLE OF PROJECT-BASED LEARNING IN THE TRAINING OF FUTURE OFFICERS

The article aims to identify project technologies’ effectiveness in forming future officers’ professional competence. Testing and a formative experiment were used as the research methods. The study was conducted with cadets of military educational institutions. Each project consisted of organisational, motivational, research and final stages, which included reflection on the acquired knowledge. Typical trends in the transformation of professional competence in military education were identified. The project-based learning method has been found to contribute to forming the communicative, managerial, motivational, and cognitive components of future officers’ professional competence. This method was least effective for forming the emotional and volitional components of future officers’ competence. In general, the research hypothesis about the effectiveness of the project method in training future officers was partially confirmed. The hypothesis about the dependence of the effectiveness of the project method on the course of study in future officers’ training was fully confirmed. The results can be used to improve the effectiveness of educational programmes for training future officers. Further prospects for the research are to study the relationship between the project method’s effectiveness and students’ psychological characteristics.

Formation of Professional Competence in Future Border Guard Officers of Canine Units at a Military Educational Institution

Purpose: This article delves into the formation of professional competence in future border guard officers of canine units at a military educational institution, focusing on the training programs and methodologies aimed at preparing these officers for effective work with canine units. Methods: The study examines the specialized training programs and methodologies utilized to equip future officers with essential skills in dog handling, scent detection, search and rescue operations, obedience training, and tactical deployment. It emphasizes the significance of developing competence in these areas to enhance border control operations involving canines. Results and discussion: By analyzing the specific training approaches of military educational institutions, this study sheds light on the methods employed in preparing future border guard officers, underscoring the necessity of a comprehensive and specialized training regimen for optimal performance in canine unit operations. Implications of the research: The findings of this study contribute to refining training practices and fostering the development of competent canine unit officers within the military framework, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of border control operations. Originality/value: This research adds value by offering insights into the tailored training methodologies essential for nurturing professional competence in future border guard officers of canine units, highlighting the critical role of specialized knowledge and skills in ensuring successful canine-assisted operations in border security.

ON EDUCATIONAL INNOVATIONS IN TRAINING COMMAND MILITARY PERSONNEL IN THE 12th ULYANOVSK RED BANNER INFANTRY SCHOOL DURING THE MILITARY REFORM OF 1925 (based on the local press)

The author’s research focus is on the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army (Red Army) of the mid-1920s. After completion of the Civil War in 1922, the Soviet Union began a series of major transformations of the military sphere of the society, caused not only by defense, but also by socio-economic reasons. The supporters of building a new socialist society in Russia, who won the long-term armed confrontation, resolutely refused to maintain a large and expensive conscription army and gradually, from 1923, began to move towards creating an army based on a territorial militia system of recruiting troops. The military organization formed in this way made it possible to spend significantly less financial and material resources on its maintenance than earlier. In January 1925, the outstanding Soviet military commander M.V. Frunze was appointed the chairman of the Revolutionary Military Council of the USSR and People’s Commissar for Military and Naval Affairs; continuing the reform initiated by his predecessor L.D. Trotsky, M.V. Frunze paid special attention, in particular, to making changes to the system of training the command personnel of the Red Army. The purpose of the study is to analyze the features of training and educating the command personnel for the Red Army in 1925 on the example of the 12th Ulyanovsk Infantry school of command staff (hereinafter – the 12th Ulyanovsk twice Red Banner Infantry school named after V.I. Lenin). Materials and methods. The author uses problem-analytical and chronological research methods; the source base of the work is primarily Ulyanovsk newspapers of 1925. Study results. The author points out that by the mid-1920s, the system of training command personnel did not meet modern requirements of the Red Army command at that time. With the beginning of the military reform in 1925, the military educational institution under study was actively involved in the updated military pedagogical process and very often became a place for the introduction of new solutions and the implementation of pedagogical innovations. Conclusions. During the reform, the 12th Ulyanovsk Infantry School was a military educational institution where educational, military-scientific and party-political work was actively carried out. At this, the school sought to improve the academic performance of military students, and also paid attention to the pedagogical training of the command staff. In 1925, in the practice of its activities, educational innovations that were original for their time appeared; new forms and methods of training and educating the command personnel were formed.

Possible project of distance learning course and content development of tactical training module: legal aspect

Some technologies for creating the project and course content of the "Tactical training” module are revealed in remote teaching of military disciplines.
 The role of the introduction of some educational technologies during distance learning in the system of training cadets in higher military educational institutions and military-educational units of higher education institutions engaged in the reserve officer training program is determined.
 The main advantages and problems regarding the development and implementation of technologies for the creation of a project of any course in the remote teaching of military disciplines are listed, taking into account the absence of the possibility of practical use of the educational and material base, including weapons and military equipment.
 Course tasks, object, subject of teaching, research and study are defined.
 Some approaches to solving the problems of implementing distance learning technologies in the teaching of military disciplines are defined: the dependence of the development of the concept of distance education on all sections of military training, including fire training; further development and adaptation of the corporate network of institution of higher education; development, placement of electronic textbooks, manuals, and educational and methodological materials on the website of institution of higher education and creation of a distance education database; organization of interaction between all participants of the educational process; creation of a unified corporate system of distance education and uniform methodical resources in the conditions of martial law; organization of training and advanced training of teachers and technical personnel in the field of dual purpose information technologies, taking into account the transition to NATO standards in teaching.

Scientific and Theoretical Basis for Training Future Communication Specialists in Higher Military Education Institutions

Since 2014 Ukraine has been under the military influence of the Russian aggressor and in February 2022, it immediately turned into a full-scale war. Equipping the Armed Forces of Ukraine with sophisticated weapons, expanding the range of tactical techniques for conducting combat operations in various conditions necessitated a broad scientific search for ways to develop and improve the training (combat) process, including physical training, which has always been considered the most important factor in the high combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine. According to the results of the analysis of scientific, methodological and specialised literature, it has been established that the system of training future communication specialists for military and professional activities needs a scientifically based transformation in accordance with the requirements of today. The purpose to analyse the scientific, methodological and special literature on the training of future communication specialists for military and professional activities by means of special physical training. Research methods: analysis, synthesis, comparison, systematization of scientific and special sources. Conclusions. As a result of the analysis of scientific, methodological and specialised literature, it is determined that the system of training future communication specialists for military professional activities needs a scientifically based transformation in accordance with the new requirements of today. The article also analyses various approaches of modern scholars to the training of future specialists for professional activities using special physical exercises. In addition, in the context of theoretical research, we have identified an insufficient number of scientific papers devoted to solving the practical problem of training future communication specialists for military professional activities by means of special physical training, which emphasises the relevance and practical component of the chosen area of scientific research.

Motivation of cadet’s higher military educational institutions regarding their improvement physical preparation

In the conditions of the legal regime of martial law in Ukraine, the issue of improving the physical fitness of future officers of the Security Service of Ukraine is gaining particular relevance. For cadets during the entire period of study at higher military educational institutions of the Security Service of Ukraine, the disciplines "Special physical training" and "Physical training" are an integral part of their professional training, the purpose of which is to ensure the training of specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine with a high level of physical fitness , able to withstand physical, mental, neuropsychological loads, effectively solve official tasks without reducing the efficiency of professional activity. Therefore, based on the specifics of the war on the territory of Ukraine, there is a need to improve the system of physical training of cadets of higher military educational institutions of the Security Service of Ukraine. In connection with this, it is important to form knowledge and practical skills in cadets, to lead a healthy lifestyle, to optimize movement regime and physical training, which should contribute to maintaining high combat capability of future officers of the Security Service of Ukraine. The analysis of literary sources devoted to this problem shows that a special place in the psychological provision of physical training is occupied by motivation, which prompts a person to engage in physical culture and sports. In order to determine the motivation of cadets of higher military educational institutions for physical training classes, an anonymous questionnaire survey was used. Using the questionnaire developed by him, a sociological survey of cadets was conducted. Based on the questionnaire data of the first and fifth year cadets, the ways and directions of increasing their physical fitness have been determined, which will be useful for specialists in special physical training, physical training and physical education.

The Tenth Wartime Graduation of the Pavlovsk Military School. In the Faces and Destinies of the Natives of the Caucasian Military District

This publication continues a series of publications on the interim results of the personal identification of cadets of the tenth accelerated wartime graduation of the Pavlovsky Military School, one of the most prestigious military educational institutions of the Russian Empire of its time. In this article we are talking about the cadets of the designated school, who were born in the territories that were part of the Caucasian Military District of the Russian Empire. The data on the occupied areas and the confessional composition of the regions that made up the Caucasian Military District at the end of the XIX century are given. The presented material presents the collected biographical information and porter images on some of the named persons who chose the military path, becoming officers during the First World War, at the same time, eyewitnesses and direct participants in the landmark events of the first half of the twentieth century in the history of our country, such as revolutions, wars, emigration and repression. The life path of some of the mentioned persons is briefly described. The research was carried out on the basis of work with the funds of federal and regional archives. This publication serves as an example of the answers to which questions can be found in the personal files of students of the Russian Empire. In addition, the publication is designed to help find the descendants of the people mentioned in the article, as well as to attract the attention of historians, local historians and just not indifferent people who are able to provide additional information about these persons.

Pedagogical aspects of the development of leadership qualities in cadets of higher military educational institutions

The development of leadership qualities in cadets of military institutions is of particular importance in today's conditions, since the formation of a new generation of professional competent officers-leaders will directly affect the combat capability of the Armed Forces and the defence capability of the state as a whole. The purpose of the study was to identify pedagogical aspects and ways to improve the system of leadership development among cadets of the Military Academy. The study analysed the theoretical foundations of the leadership problem and summarized the best Ukrainian and foreign experience. The methods used were: structural-functional method; analysis, induction. The study also used the following methodological approaches: systemic approach; reductionist and holistic approaches. As a result of the research, it was found that the existing system of training military leaders in higher military educational institutions currently has certain significant drawbacks that significantly reduce its effectiveness, namely: insufficient attention is paid to military-humanitarian disciplines, which shape the socio-communicative qualities of a modern leader; outdated reproductive teaching methodologies dominate instead of innovative interactive ones; individual-psychological characteristics of the cadet's personality and potential are not sufficiently taken into account; the educational potential of the faculty is weakly utilized due to mentoring; the system of cadet self-government is underdeveloped, within which future officers could gain real practical leadership experience. Therefore, constructive ways of improving the existing system were proposed by strengthening the humanitarian component of training, wider use of interactive teaching methods, introducing individual educational trajectories, increasing the role of mentoring from senior command staff, creating an effective system of cadet self-government, and substantiating the feasibility of using innovative pedagogical methods of active learning for the effective targeted formation of necessary leadership qualities and competencies. The results of the study on improving the system of leadership development of cadets of Higher Military Educational Institutions are of great practical importance, as they can be used to improve the effectiveness of training officers as future military leaders

Formation of Practical Readiness of Future Officers to organize Forms of Physical Training with Servicemen of different age groups

According to the results of the analysis of the scientific and methodical literature, it was established that an insufficient number of scientific and methodical works are devoted to the actual issue of the formation of theoretical knowledge and practical skill s of the organization of the physical training system with the future subordinate staff by those obtaining higher education of higher military educational institutions.
 The main goal of the study is to develop organizational and pedagogical conditions for the formation of practical training of future officers in the direction of their organization of forms of physical training with an emphasis on the use of modern technical means of training and fitness technologies.
 As a result of theoretical research, we have developed organizational and pedagogical formations of practical training of future officers in the direction of their organization of forms of physical training (with an emphasis on the use of modern technical means of training and fitness technologies) with future subordinate personnel. We expect that the introduction of the proposed organizational and pedagogical conditions into the system of physical and special physical training of the representatives of the studied category will contribute to the formation of theoretical knowledge and practical skills of organizing forms of physical training with servicemen of different age groups (categories). In addition, in the future it is possible for future officers to organize occupational therapy activities with military personnel of various categories after treatment of injuries, illnesses, and wounds.

Features of the organization of the educational process on physical education and military-professional activities of female cadets in higher military educational institutions under the conditions of the state of martial

The article researched the peculiarities of the organization of the educational process of physical education and military-professional activity of female cadets in higher military educational institutions under the conditions of the legal regime of martial law, and how the current conditions of the educational and service activity of female cadets are related to the level of their physical fitness.
 Research methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of educational and methodological recommendations by research topic, documentary method, questionnaire, comparison method.
 It has been established that the high level of physical fitness of female cadets of higher military educational institutions is closely related to the success of studies and the effectiveness of military professional activities of female cadets under martial law. The results of the conducted research indicate the need to increase the level of physical fitness, especially strength qualities, of female cadets during their studies at the higher military educational institutions, which will contribute to improving the quality of the educational process and the effectiveness of the performance of military-professional tasks as assigned in the conditions of martial law.

The influence of COVID-19 on the learning and developing processes of practical skills in military educational institutions

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the educational process in military higher education institutions underwent changes, especially in terms of carrying out practical activities. The purpose of the research was to analyze how the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the educational process and the leadership activities carried out in a Romanian military academy, in the context in which the practical activities had to be carried out in the online environment. Practical skills play an important role in the life of military students and they can help them within the process of becoming efficient leaders. In the context of the research, practical skills refer to decision-making abilities, conflict resolution skills, communication skills, the ability to delegate, or the capacity to motivate and inspire others. In order to conduct the research, we used a quantitative approach. A questionnaire was applied to 288 students of “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy from Sibiu, Romania. The results of the research revealed that students pointed out the difficulty of interacting with their teachers, and of developing practical activities. While the opinions of the students were not influenced by their gender, they were influenced by the type of studies followed. Compared to bachelor students, master students were more affected by the changes which took place, and they believed to a higher extent that they possess leadership skills and that they have the necessary knowledge to lead a specific military group.

Machine learning in building cadet maladaptation forecasts

Relevance. Machine learning methods allow for high-accuracy classification and prediction of various conditions and outcomes in humans. The choice of the most optimal method is critical for researchers. The objectiveis to evaluate the effectiveness of machine learning methods in predicting cadet maladaptation.Methods. The investigators examined 1822 cadets aged 18 to 27 years studying at the Federal State Higher Military Educational Institution “The Military Educational and Scientific Centre of the Navy “The Naval Academy named alter Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union N.G. Kuznetsov”. The subjects were divided into 2 groups: normal (n = 1507) and maladaptation (n = 315). The examination was carried out using the Multifactorial Score for Adaptability Evaluation and the KR-3-85 intellectual development test. Statistical processing was carried out using the Stat Soft Statistica 10.0 software package. The normality of indicators was verified using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test. Comparative analysis of indicators with normal distribution was assessed by Student’s t-test. Spearman rank correlation analysis was performed to assess multicollinearity of data. Mathematical modeling was carried out using neural networks, discriminant analysis, and the Bayesian algorithm. The effectiveness of the models was assessed by sensitivity and specificity parameters.Results and discussion. Neural networks and Bayesian algorithm are powerful classification tools, allowing to reliably classify cadets with socio-psychological maladjustment. At the same time, the Bayesian algorithm is characterized by high sensitivity, whereas neural networks show by high specificity. Loss of data is a well-known disadvantage of discriminant analysis modeling. This, discriminant analysis failed to classify cadets with social and psychological maladjustment.Conclusion. The use of machine learning will increase the efficiency of medical and psychological support for cadets. Neural networks are the optimal method to predict maladaptation.
