This scientific article aims to deal with the concept of Proximity Policing, in addition to demonstrating its objectives and foundations, it also covers the point of view of those who carry out police actions in practice “the Patrolman”, making it possible to demonstrate that its implementation can result in a reduction in crime rates, in addition to increasing the community's sense of security, especially in an area where the police team is aligned with the vision of the Proximity Policing concept. The concept is already being implemented in theory and practice in some Military Police units, with the aim of disseminating the concept of Proximity Policing, realizing that it will be a powerful tool to positively improve crime rates in their area of activity, and thus advancing the concept, as “Commander” leaders and “Patrolheiro” police officers have the same objective. This concept, based on sustainability and transparency, consists of carrying out police actions with a focus on qualified prevention, from primary care to day-to-day police activities, spontaneous contact, interacting with people, listening to local demands so that they can resolve them with total autonomy through police actions, always based on legality and morality, especially transparency in actions, bringing speed to resolving the problem reported by the citizen, resulting in a strengthening of the relationships in question and consequently increasing credibility in the corporation. Strategically disseminating these actions is essential so that we can increase their impact in a positive way, and this is done through tools such as sociais networks and WhatsApp groups, which, in practice, bring many results. In view of the study, it is concluded that the implementation of Proximity Policing provides a creative response to the problems faced by public security. The daily interaction of the “patrol officer” with the citizen in a true, spontaneous, transparent way and with active listening is a powerful tool, making it possible to understand the demands of each region with sensitivity, enabling the police to act more assertively, reducing crime rates and increasing the feeling of security.
