In current study, ZnS nanoparticles were successfully synthesized with the aid of C2H5NS and Zn(NO3)2·6H2O as the starting reagents in the presence of olive oil as surfactant and oil (organic solvent). Besides, the effects of preparation parameters such as magnetic stirring time and its rpm on the morphology of ZnS nanoparticles, removal of heavy metals (Hg+2, Pb+2) were studied by SEM images and batch adsorption mode. ZnS nanoparticles are synthesized by this method have more efficiency for remove heavy metal because of their modified surface (with olive oil). The as-synthesized products were characterized by several technics such as powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electronic microscopy, spectra energy dispersive analysis of X-ray (EDS), and ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) technic.
