Infertility is a widespread issue that has profound psychological, economic, demographic, and medical effects. While broccoli is a nutritious vegetable packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, its specific role in solving fertility problems is not well-proven.To investigate the fertility-enhancing properties of the hydroalcoholic extract derived from Brassica oleracea L. var. italic (BOLVI) in rat and mice model. In this study, the extract underwent phytochemical screening, and an acute oral toxicity assessment was following OECD guideline 423. Both, wistar rats and albino mice were employed as study subjects. The research included an analysis of the effects of BOLVI on ovulation in rats and a histopathological investigation. In the mice model, litter counts and sexual behaviors were recorded. It was noted that the hydroalcoholic extract of BOLVI, administered at a dose of 800 mg kg−1, yielded the highest ovulation rate, reaching 99.71±0.166%. Additionally, in the groups treated with BOLVI at doses of 200, 400, and 800 mg kg−1, histopathological examination indicated an increasing number of ovulation sites, with two, three, and four sites observed, respectively. Furthermore, the study demonstrated that the hydroalcoholic extract of BOLVI at a dose of 800 mg kg−1 significantly enhanced litter count and sexual behavior. The present phytoconstituents have been shown to possess fertility activity, deceased oxidative stress and increase in sperm count, sperm motility and sperm viability.
