Abstract Aiming at the large motion fluctuation of fuselage sliding on calm water, a numerical simulation method based on the global moving mesh method is introduced by using the computational fluid dynamics software of STAR-CCM+, the two equations SST k-w turbulence model to solve the RANS equations, the VOF method to capture free surface, the DFBI module to simulate the movement of the fuselage. We established a simulation scheme on the sliding movement of the fuselage on calm water, which effectively solves the problem of calculation divergence caused by the excessive stretching deformation of the mesh. Comparison between calculation results and model test results shows that the trends of resistance and attitude angles changing with velocity are basically the same, and the relative errors are around 10%, which indicates that the global moving mesh method is feasible in the simulation of fuselage sliding on calm water.
