Covid-19 is presenting clinical neuropsychologists in medico-legal practice with the opportunity to expand their skills, and embrace new technologies for developing comprehensive and valid expert opinion for the court. Here we discuss issues practitioners need to consider when providing expert evidence obtained from tele-neuropsychology assessments and we present suggestions to guide good practice. The validity of across-modality neurocognitive testing is addressed, as is the importance of behavioural analysis for which tele-neuropsychology provides some distinct advantages. Tele-neuropsychology is not suitable for all clients, but for appropriate referrals it is a reliable modality for medico-legal examination. It is likely to remain a useful and necessary approach in the medico-legal arena, both through and beyond the current pandemic.
