Novel gold nanodogbones (GDBs) are successfully fabricated using a simple seededmediated growth (SMG) method. The shapes of GDBs depend on the amount ofadded vitamin C solvent. The amount of vitamin C solvent was varied from 10 to40 µl to investigate the influence of vitamin C solvent on the GDBs. It is found that the aspect ratios(R) of GDBs were in the range from 2.34 to 1.46, and the UV–vis absorption measurementrevealed a pronounced blueshift on the longitudinal surface plasmon resonance (SPR) bandfrom 713 to 676 nm. The GDBs were determined by x-ray diffraction (XRD) to besingle-crystalline with a face-centered cubic (fcc) structure. The lattice constantcalculated from this selected-area electron diffraction (SAED) pattern is 4.068 Å.
