The Effectiveness of Updating Data on Small and Medium Industrial Business Actors in the Industrial Sector at the Cirebon City Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, Trade and Industry Office

The development of Science and Technology (IPTEK) affects various aspects of human life, including in the context of organizations and government agencies. In Cirebon City, the management of Small and Medium Industries (SMEs) by the Trade and Industry Small and Medium Business Cooperative Office faces challenges in updating data that has not been fully computerized. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to evaluate the effectiveness of the IKM data update process. The study results show that the number of SMEs is increasing every year, although there are still obstacles, such as incomplete information and manual processes that slow down efficiency. The application of digital technologies, such as applications for data collection and update, is proposed as a solution to improve the efficiency and accuracy of processes. It is hoped that better data updates, facilitated by digital technologies, can significantly support the development of the creative economy of Cirebon City through the identification of more appropriate needs and opportunities, as well as the optimization of government programs in the SME sector.

Adaptasi Penggunaan Teknologi Media Sosial dan Media Televisi dalam Mengakses Informasi pada Generasi X di Desa Tapos Depok

As one of the developing countries, the development of the information society is marked by the emergence of media industries such as print media (newspapers, magazines, tabloids, etc.) and electronic media (radio, television). The ease of use of new technologies most influences the decisions of users of different ages. The influence of age has a direct impact on a person's perception of the usefulness of information technology in short-term and long-term use. A generation is defined as a group of individuals identified based on the year of birth, age, characteristics, and life events that occur at their developmental stage. The emergence of new media technologies creates new habits and new cultures in media consumption, which has an impact on social, cultural, economic, and political aspects. This research was conducted using a descriptive quantitative method to understand what factors affect the attitude of using social media and television media in generation X in Tapos Village. The population in this study is generation X of Tapos Village. The research sample was 100 people. Sampling was done using purposive sampling and data analysis using SEM-PLS with Smart PLS. The results of this study show that there is no digital divide seen from several aspects, namely, monthly income, interest in media use and strong network ownership, they can still keep up with technological developments even though they have limited access.

ARDAN RADIO BANDUNG DIVERSIFICATION IN FACING MEDIA INDUSTRY BUSINESS COMPETITION IN THE DIGITAL ERA

The Internet has an impact and has implications for conventional broadcast media. The internet has become a new market in the current competitive media industry and has also caused cultural changes in society in using media. This research tells about the main concern is the diversification carried out by Ardan Radio in facing an industry business media in the digital era. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study approach according to Creswell. The research results show that it can be concluded that the business carried out by Ardan Radio in facing media industry competition in the digital era is by diversifying through the Five-O business strategy which is adapted to the environment. Diversification is carried out by Ardan with the Five-O concept. Five-O is a business strategy used by Ardan Radio to reach both markets, namely conventional and digital.

Manufacturing influencers: the gatekeeping roles of MCNs (Multi-channel networks) in cultural production

ABSTRACT This study examines the revolutionary role of MCNs (multi-channel networks) in China's influencer market, focusing on their impact on cultural production. While existing scholarship has explored influencer precarity and platform dependency, the role of MCNs receives little attention. Drawing from platform studies, cultural production literature, and media industry research, this study maps out the development of the MCN industry and reveals the ways they shape cultural production. Our findings demonstrate that MCNs not only assist influencers in producing content and managing risk but also standardize cultural products and play a key role in restricting influencers’ creative autonomy. Moreover, MCNs provide the infrastructure and support for content creation and thus act as pivotal gatekeepers, directing influencers’ careers. We conceptualize this process as ‘manufacturing influencers’ which involves three overarching approaches: talent incubation, content optimization, and platform monetization. We argue that MCNs have moved beyond mere intermediation toward gatekeeping cultural production and consumption.

Strategi Pengembangan Industri Kecil Menengah Melalui Bantuan Dinas Perikanan dan Kelautan: Studi Kasus Kelompok Olah Pasar Doa Ibu Desa Jaya Mukti Kecamatan Banyusari Kabupaten Karawang

Kelompok olah pasar doa ibu has been around since 1990, founded and chaired by Mr. Kaning. The existing products are marine products. The market sports group has 10 members and has not experienced any changes since its inception until now. The problems that occurred in the Mother's Prayer Market Processing Group were the management of assistance from the fisheries and maritime department, hampered capital circulation, and human resources experiencing problems. This research aims to find out strategies for the development of small and medium industries in the mother's prayer market group. This research method uses the SWOT analysis method to assist research analysis in determining quadrant positions and alternative strategies to be used. The research results obtained are that the market processing group is in quadrant III position with a difference between IFAS, namely -0.24 and the difference between EFAS, namely 0.64. With these results, there is a big opportunity but it has internal weaknesses, so the alternative used is the WO strategy. To minimize internal weaknesses, strategies such as training and coaching are needed for human resources in the market processing group. By implementing this strategy, it is hoped that the market transformation team will gain human capital development and have an impact on the growth of the company they lead.

Reform of Photography Education in Chinese Applied Universities in the Self-Media Era: Evidence from Responsible Persons in the Photography Major

Live streaming and short videos have become the most favored means of communication, and the prevalence of self-media has had a profound impact on traditional media industries, indirectly promoting reforms in Chinese photography education. This study delves into the current state of photography education in Chinese applied universities and the transformations undertaken in response to the challenges posed by self-media. The research covers the development status of university photography programs, the impact of live streaming and short videos on photography education, changes in teaching models, and the issues encountered during these reforms. Through in-depth interviews with heads and instructors of photography programs at five applied universities in China, and using NVIVO software for thematic analysis, the study examines the professional divisions, curriculum design, teaching methods, student employment rates, reform policies, and the challenges faced. The research finds that the prevalence of live streaming and short videos has had a positive impact on the dynamic imaging specialties within photography education, but has been detrimental to the static imaging specialties. Universities have actively reformed their teaching methods in response to market demands, yet still face challenges in integrating live streaming-related courses. This study provides the latest insights for practitioners in the Chinese self-media industry and offers valuable references for university policymakers and researchers.

Investigating Ecocinema through the Video Essay

How can the video essay be deployed as a critical tool to analyse ecocinema and its relevance to the current environmental crisis? The Video Essay for Ecocinema course, held in the 2023 spring semester at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, introduced videographic techniques to investigate the topic of ecocinema and critically analyse ecological imaginaries. A heterogeneous bibliography of texts, films and video essays related to ecocinema presented key thematic concepts, including: visualizations of ecological scale(s); the role of affect in producing environmental consciousness; materialising intangible infrastructures and hidden “grey energies”; and the digital footprint of film and media industries. These concepts in turn served as the basis for a distinct series of videographic exercises that prepared students for their final videographic project. The results demonstrate the profound value of the video essay as a pedagogical practice that can provide students with the tools to address such a challenging and multifaceted topic as the global environmental crisis.

Lean Manufacturing Practices in Tanzania: Exploring Awareness, Training and Capital Investment

With the growing competition among industries in the world, manufacturing industries are now forced to adopt the Lean Manufacturing philosophy to improve their competitive abilities. The adoption of the philosophy is very low in developing countries such as Tanzania, as is demonstrated with 1% of publications and the lack of knowledge and capital for Lean Manufacturing implementation causes this. Furthermore, the contribution of the sector to the Gross Domestic Product in Tanzania is low and stands at 8.4%. The study wants to bridge the gap in training, capital and awareness of Lean Manufacturing in Tanzania. Survey and purposive sampling techniques were adopted in the study. A structured questionnaire was used to collect responses from 243 manufacturing industries of all sizes. Descriptive and inferential statistics were analysed with SPSS version 27.0.1. The results demonstrated that there is inadequate training for micro and small industries as more than 80% have not received any training, have inadequate funds whereby more than 95% have not allocated funds and low awareness with a mean score of below 3 out of 5. The status is contrary in medium and large industries, with more than 75% training provision. It was also revealed that 90% of large industries have allocated funds while for medium ones it is more than 39% and the awareness for Lean Manufacturing is high as they have a mean score of above 3. The Lean practices with high levels of awareness to all manufacturing industries are 5s, concurrent engineering and visual management. The low level of awareness, training and insufficient capital for Lean Manufacturing affect the adoptions of the philosophy in Tanzania. Therefore, the study will assist practitioners and policymakers in setting strategies for bridging the gap in the adoption of Lean Manufacturing in developing countries such as Tanzania.

Digital Transformation Framework in Consumer Goods Wholesale Industry SMEs : Case Study in Wholesale SMEs of Babelan Districk

Small and Medium Industry (SMEs) is one type of business that has experienced a fairly developed growth valuation. Consumer goods wholesale SMEs have experienced rapid growth in the sales sector, specifically in the Babelan sub-district the consumer goods wholesale industry still uses a manual control system in running its business. The sales process with the Conventional System is carried out starting from stock control, sales activity control, sales process, cashier and revenue generation is still done manually. The manual control process causes a slow counting process, and a long process of re- ordering goods and losing assets. The solution needed at this time is the creation of a framework for Digital Transformation Steps in the sales process to facilitate the control of wholesale consumer goods business processes. The digital transformation framework is expected to modernize the sales process starting from the cashier system, revenue control system, sales activity control process and make it easier for wholesalers to order goods. This applied research is expected to be able to provide suggestions for wholesale consumer goods businesses in running their business in a more efficient and practical direction and can be a recommendation to be able to carry out a digitally transformed sales process.

The Development of Industrial Agglomeration in Industrial Designation Areas and its Impact on Land Use Change (Case Study: Pringsurat Subdistrict and Kranggan Subdistrict, Temanggung Regency)

<div class="page" title="Page 1"><div class="layoutArea"><div class="column"><p><span>Industrial agglomeration refers to the clustering of industries in a specific region, where they are in close proximity and have interconnections. This phenomenon not only stimulates the growth of industrial activities, but also influences the development of other economic sectors. As industrialization expands, it gradually extends into rural areas that usually have abundant undeveloped land primarily used for agriculture. Consequently, this trend prompts a transition from agricultural to industrial land use. Pringsurat subdistrict and Kranggan subdistrict are located in Temanggung Regency, Central Java Province. Both of these subdistricts are designated as Industrial Designation Areas (KPI) according to the Temanggung Regency Spatial Plan 2011-2031. The plan has implications for the rapid development of large and medium industries. The purpose of this study is to examine the growth of industrial agglomeration in Pringsurat subdistrict and Kranggan subdistrict and their impact on agricultural land conversion. This research was conducted from 2023 to 2024 and utilizing data from 2021 and 2022. The approach of this research is descriptive quantitative and utilizes spatial analysis with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and descriptive analysis techniques. Based on the results of the analysis, there is an agglomeration of large and medium industries in Pringsurat subdistrict and Kranggan subdistrict. The growth of agglomeration encourages the establishment of new industries and industry linkages. Furthermore, agglomeration growth has led to changes in land use, an increase in the variety of land uses, and an increase in land prices. Results of the analysis also show that there are regulatory changes in the development of industrial agglomeration that will affect to local government decision in the future. </span></p></div></div></div>

Over-the-top (OTT) platforms: a review, synthesis and research directions

PurposeIn this era of technological advancement, the capabilities of devices and telecommunications have changed the pattern of media consumption among consumers. This study examined the research landscape and advancements in OTT services.Design/methodology/approachThis study adopted a hybrid review consisting of bibliometric and thematic analyses to present advancements in the OTT platforms. A hybrid review integrates both systematic and narrative approaches by emphasizing a literature search strategy and the study selection process.FindingsThis study focuses on previous literature to understand recent developments in the domain. The authors derive six major OTT themes: OTT infrastructure and technology advancement, OTT consumption behaviour, shifting trends towards OTT platforms, viewers’ engagement in digital media, OTT in the global market, OTT policies and regulatory mechanisms.Practical implicationsThe findings of this study will be useful for marketers/stakeholders associated with the entertainment and media industries, such as sales promotion teams, media planners/advertisers, content management companies and policy regulators, to penetrate OTT viewers.Originality/valueThe literature related to OTT is progressively rising, but it remains highly fragmented because of inconsistencies in the methodologies and theories used in the domain of OTT. This study offers directions in terms of theory, methodology and future research on OTT services.

Influence Home Industry Kampoeng Batik Laweyan To Community Economy in the Laweyan Region of Surakarta

Surakarta is a city that is famous for its culture, industry, etc. Surakarta is also one of the districts in Central Java which has superior potential and functions in various sectors which can be utilized to improve welfare and increase people's income. One of them is in the industrial sector. A small and medium home industry that can increase people's income is the batik home industry. In Laweyan Batik Village, Laweyan District, Surakarta City, there are several batik home industries that can increase the income of the local community. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of the batik home industry on increasing the income of the people of Kampung Batik Laweyan, Laweyan District, Surakarta City. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used include: 1). Informant observations, 2). Field survey, 3). In-depth interviews, 4). Documentation. The results of the research show that the batik home industry has an influence in increasing the income of the surrounding community. The efforts made by the owner of the batik home industry to increase the income of the surrounding community are by taking batik home industry workers from the surrounding community and increasing the batik production output and expanding the market and promoting it through the media. social services so that it will increase workers' income

The concept of beauty always changes from time to time. One of the main factor determine is the rapid development of the advertising media industry, which led to the perception of beauty in society. This study aims to describe advertisment element exposure of Wardah “Feel the beauty” version and perceptions of beauty among millennial employees and explain the effect of Wardah advertisement elements exposure that formed the perceptions of beauty among factory employees in South Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java.This research uses AISAS theoretical framework that shows Attata, Attention, Interest, and the desire to search (Search), to decide (Action) and finally encourage customers to share (Share). The concept develop by tow theories with indicators of Frekuensi, duration, visual and audio and perception theory involving sensation, attention, expectations, motivation and memory.This study use positvism paradigm with quantitative approach and causal explanatory research design. The data collected by survey conducted for millennial employees who working in the factory area in South Cikarang District Bekasi West Java. About 381 respondent involved as sample of this research that defined using cluster sampling in the industrial area, i.e.: BIIE Hyundai, Delta Silicon, EJIP, and Jababeka II.

24/7 news network: A paradigm shift in the media industry

This research aims to investigate the role of 24/7 news networks in transforming how the media industry presents, consumes, and interacts with news. To achieve this goal, the study conducts a literature review on the development and evolution of 24/7 news networks and their impact on society. The analysis results show that 24/7 news networks have significantly changed the media landscape. Firstly, their ability to deliver news instantly and in real-time has shifted traditional news reporting models that relied on print editions or scheduled broadcasts. Second, the adoption of multimedia formats in 24/7 news network platforms has enhanced interactivity and reader engagement in the news process. However, the media industry faces challenges in dealing with this phenomenon. The demand to provide non-stop news puts pressure on journalists and editors to remain relevant and accurate in delivering information. Additionally, the emergence of social news platforms has brought new issues related to the validity and credibility of news. This article also highlights the social impact of 24/7 news networks. Easy access to news anytime and anywhere has influenced how society consumes news and interacts with information. Moreover, ethical questions arise on how to manage the information overload presented by 24/7 news networks without compromising the reliability of sources.

La actividad periodística y los desafíos de su gestión en los Estados Unidos de América y Europa

The digital age has opened the doors to numerous opportunities for publishing organizations and journalists, and has increased the number of challenges, particularly those related to the sustainability of the business model. The management of media companies faces a number of profound and disruptive challenges that even significantly defy the logic of various social media industries. This paper aims to understand the sustainability and challenges of media business models and how managers are reacting and adapting their practices in this industry in the field of digital transformation, and in an increasingly competitive market. Thus, the central research questions of this work are: RQ1. What are the main strategies and management practices applied by journalistic companies to achieve the sustainability of their business model and funding? RQ2. To what extent are the revenue streams of digital newspapers growing and how has the funding model of US newspapers differed from that of European ones? This article is based on 6 interviews (out of a total of 90 from a larger study that included executives from media companies based on all continents) with executives from 3 North American (United States and Canada) and 3 European newspaper companies. (Ireland, UK and France).

The paper aims to identify the characteristics of the “new spectacle” in the context of screen digitization. The author’s focus on identifying the stages of screen digitization and the emergence of new cultural practices when viewing content on streaming services is crucial. The scientific novelty of the study lies in its multifaceted analysis of media consumption and media production transformations in the digital age, particularly emphasizing the significant role of streaming services in these processes. The author investigates the interactive aspects of streaming services where viewers can influence the plot, which is a significant contribution to understanding contemporary media practices. As a result, the author emphasizes that streaming services have become catalysts for numerous changes in the media industry, leading to democratization of content access and production. The work notes the possibility of a functional differentiation of modern media consumption culture under the influence of screen culture before the streaming era and during the streaming era. The emergence of new demands for content creation in the context of the “new spectacle” is highlighted.

California dreaming: Tech media giants and the re-conception of property, commodities and tax

Tech media giants are no strangers to controversy in relation to the payment of corporate tax, such as the cases of Apple and Facebook (Meta) in Ireland, Alphabet (Google) in the UK and Amazon in Luxembourg. While the tech media giants are not the only global corporations that take advantage of international tax avoidance opportunities, this paper argues that their hypermobility and unprecedented cash assets place them especially well to take advantage of these practices. Moreover, the nature of some of the commodities, such as information, software or intellectual property that can be moved at the touch of a button; or even a simple re-conception of where the property resides can mean a state gaining or losing billions of dollars. This paper will explore how tech media giants are redefining property and commodity forms and how this allows for creative tax policies. Moreover, the conception of where immaterial commodities, such as pure information, is located (or not located) challenges tax collection strategies for the state. To explore these conceptions, this paper discusses the ideology surrounding the tech media industry, a particular brand of liberalism coined the ‘Californian Ideology’: An ideology that can sometimes be described as transgressive, but also one that may legitimise tax avoidance. The ideology gives a somewhat nebulous definition of what property is (and isn’t) and its location or non-location, thereby negating justification for taxation.

Peri-urbanisation in Surakarta City and Economic Transformation in the Fast-Growing Region of Sukoharjo Regency

The massive development of Surakarta City, a city with a strategic location, has caused a butterfly effect on its surrounding area. This research explores the economic transformation of Sukoharjo’s peri-urban, specifically in five districts, namely Mojolaban, Gatak, Grogol, Kartasura, and Baki, as the area adjacent to Surakarta City. A quantitative approach is employed with descriptive quantitative analysis techniques and scoring analysis. Primary data collection is based on the results of stakeholder’s interviews and field observations and secondary data gathered from government documents and literature review. The study results show that in the period 2000 – 2020, there has been economic transformation in Sukoharjo’s peri-urban area, especially the changes from rural to urban characteristics. The transformation can be indicated by the changes in population, livelihoods, agricultural land use, regional investment, and the number of emerging small and medium industries (SMIs) in each peri-urban region in the northern part of Sukoharjo. This research contributes a perspective on the unique characteristics of the diverse economic transformation driven by different patterns of land-use changes. It recommends that policymakers foster the roles of peri-urban areas in creating mutual development and sustainable urbanisation.
