The Yield of the Thermal Engines

This paper presents an algorithm for determining the dynamic parameters of the main classic mechanism of internal combustion engines. It shows the distribution of forces (on the main engine mechanism) to internal combustion engines. With these forces and together with the kinematic coupling speeds, the efficiency of the thermal engine is determined. The method applies separately for two distinct situations: When the engine is working as a compressor and as a motor mechanism. For the two separate cases, two independent formulas for engine efficiency are obtained. These relationships are then calculated in terms of Otto's mechanical efficiency in four-stroke, two-stroke and four-stroke. The final power of the engine is obtained taking into account the thermal efficiency of the Carnot cycle.

Study on Dynamic Response of Joints Accuracy to the Slider Crank Mechanism of Internal Combustion Engine

Nonlinear equivalent spring resistance model and Coulomb friction model is used to construct a dynamic mathematical model for a multi-body system, which contains clearance. In the paper an internal combustion engine dynamic model has created for simulated analysis. It shows that joints accuracy and driver speed have obvious effects on crank slider dynamic disturbance. Also joints clearance and the increase of driver speed lead to lower positional accuracy, worse stability and reliability, which has very important theoretical significance and practical value on the analysis of the performance of internal combustion engine.

Kinematics and Dynamics Analysis of Piston-Connecting Rod Mechanism of Internal Combustion Engine

The kinematic and dynamic performances of piston-connecting rod mechanism of internal combustion engine (ICE) were analyzed in detail. Taking standard slider-crank mechanism as study object, the kinematic and dynamic parameters (velocity, acceleration, angular acceleration etc.) of linkage were derived. Under no any simplification, the calculating method of each physical parameter was provided. Meanwhile, taking the factual force applied to connecting rod into account, the graphical method of vector equation was used to solve each load imposed on connecting rod. The research works were believed to be beneficial to subsequent finite element analysis (stress and train fields, fatigue of connecting rod) and size optimization design of connecting rod.

Dynamic Simulation of Crank-Connecting Rod-Piston Mechanism of Internal Combustion Engine Based on Virtual Prototype Technology

A virtual prototype model of S195 diesel engine was established by using CAD, finite element analysis based on virtual prototype technology and dynamics theory of flexible multibody systems to study the kinetic discipline of the crank-rod mechanism,vibration of cylinder block caused by inertia force and the balance problem of inertia force.The rigid body and flexible body simulation were compared.The interaction force between components could be determined by flexible multibody dynamics analysis of the crankshaft system under the real working condition. The simulation results are accordant with those in true working state of S195 diesel engine. This research provides a feasible advanced method for design and development of diesel engine.

The dependence of indicated power on the time-section of gas distribution mechanism of internal combustion engine

Установлены зависимости индикаторной мощности в цилиндре ДВС от высоты подъема клапанов. Проведены испытания четырех валов с различными параметрами. По результатам индицирования четвертого цилиндра двигателя найдено среднее индикаторное давление за цикл и рассчитана индикаторная мощность. По полученным данным построена зависимость индикаторной мощности от время-сечения.

Local and global bifurcations of valve mechanism

In this paper we study in detail problems of nonlinear oscillations of valve mechanism at internal combustion engine. The practical measurement indicates that stiffness of valve mechanism is not constant but is a function of the rotational angle of the cam. For simplicity of analysis we replace valve mechanism of internal combustion engine with a nonlinear oscillator of single degree of freedom under combined parametric and forcing excitation. We use the method of multiple scales and normal form theory to study local and global bifurcations of valve mechanism at internal combustion engine.

Kinematics of the Cycloidal Internal Combustion Engine Mechanism

The application of the characteristics of cycloidal curves for the four-stroke rotary internal combustion engine mechanism is introduced. The major components of the cycloidal engine mechanism include a flywheel, a stationary sun gear, planetary gears, rotary bars, and rotary pistons. The rotary pistons are fixed to bars driven by pins of the planetary gears, and these pins follow a common trajectory of epicyloidal or hypocycloidal curve. Several combustion chambers are created by the rotary pistons. As the flywheel makes a complete revolution, the relative motion between rotary pistons and the specially positioned intake ports, exhaust ports, and fuel injector generate four-stoke cycles within each of the combustion chambers. The constraint and classification of the application of different cycloidal curves for the rotary engine mechanism are then presented. Further, the mathematical modeling is developed. The position, velocity, and acceleration analyses of the rotary pistons of the cycloidal engine mechanisms are presented.
